Properties / 3 Top Considerations Of Successful Investors When Buying Property by Nigeria2day(m): 1:32pm On Mar 25, 2022
Buying property or real estate investing as is commonly referred to is the secret to successful wealth creation by many because it creates cash flow, gives you leverage, gives you ownership of a tangible asset and offers not just passive but the most sustainable earned income possible.

Below are three tips on how successful investors choose where, what and how they keep investing in real estate and stay winning.

1. LOCATION: This factor is heavily dependent on the investor persona, their risk appetite (tolerance for risk) and/or preferred goals. For example, a middle-aged property investor would be better able to consider investing in rental properties within an upcoming environment because they are able to wait longer for their returns to yield.

An older investor might not be interested in this as he/she is looking more for retirement financing or to buffer up their trust funds for the kids and/or grandkids.

Once you can identify who and what you are after as a result, then you can choose your location to suit that.

Aside from age, the current financial status of the investor would also come to light during consideration – how much he/she has as disposable income would determine the working budget for investing.

This financial investment series that I particularly enjoyed, captured different age groups as was recently anchored by Sola Adesakin, founder of the Smart Stewards.

Politics / Umahi’s Removal: Here Is What Is Likely To Happen by Nigeria2day(m): 9:34am On Mar 09, 2022
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has removed the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engineer David Umahi. The court sacked Gov. Umahi, his Deputy, Dr. Kelechi Igwe and all 17 members of Ebonyi State House of Assembly on Tuesday for illegally defecting to the All Progressives Congress.

But will they go? That is the question in the minds of many Nigerians, especially Ebonyi people and members of his party, the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

The court, in a judgement that was delivered by Justice Inyang Ekwo, held that the total number of 393, 042 votes governor Umahi secured during the March 9, 2019 governorship election in Ebonyi state, belonged to the PDP and same could not be legally transferred to the APC. The judgement followed a suit the PDP lodged before the court.

Sports / UCL Semi-final: Does Real Madrid Really Stand A Chance Against Chelsea? by Nigeria2day(m): 8:42pm On May 05, 2021
Chelsea is set to host Real Madrid in only the 5th European meeting of both giants of European football. It’s important to note that Chelsea has never lost to Real Madrid in Europe, winning 2 of the previous 4 encounters, including the 1998 European Super Cup final when a late Gustavo Poyet goal sealed it for the Blues.

So why is everyone overlooking Chelsea (everyone except their fans) and tipping Real Madrid instead to progress into the final to face Manchester City who put up a football masterclass to dump PSG out of the competition last night? There are a number of reasons for this chief among them being wishful thinking.

Nobody really likes Chelsea except Chelsea fans. And these fans, alleged to be very loud and mostly uncouth, are the exact reasons why nobody else likes their club and don’t want to see them in the final.

If you do not Japhet Omojuwa, well, I am not sure what to tell you. But, first, he has one million followers on Twitter. That should tell you how popular and influential he is, at least on social media. He is a well respected social media strategist that many have credited with the fall of the former President Jonathan’s government in 2015 due to the role he played leveraging social media.

But right now, he is in the eye of the storm for all the wrong reasons. The story starts with an alleged lucrative contract from a suspected Colombian money launderer.

According to reports, Omojuwa got a deal to coordinate a campaign of himself and other Nigerian social media influencers. Unfortunately, some people, who included the US Embassy in Nigeria and the microblogging platform, Twitter did not take this interference lightly.

TV/Movies / #movies: Namaste Wahala, Adu; Top 5 Netflix Movies To Relax With This Weekend by Nigeria2day(m): 2:34pm On Feb 19, 2021
The week has ended. Hopefully, it was not that stressful. However, if it was, you probably have plans to relax and get the well-deserved rest this weekend. If the plans include catching up on some really nice Netflix movies, we have picked for you the top 5 movies trending in Nigeria on Netflix. Check them out below:

1. ADU: Adu is named after the central character, a Cameroonian boy escaping the wrath of elephant poachers in his village. He must undertake the horrendous journey to Spain to find his father.

Adu is a migration-themed movie that will get you thinking about the fate of desperate illegal migrants in search of a better life in Europe. It is set in several parts of Africa including, Cameroon, Senegal and Morocco.

The movie is an overall well-told story, suspenseful, with the right cinematographic appeal.

2. BLACK BEACH: This is a tragic story about a mediation gone wrong. It was meant to be a simple negotiation to resolve an evolving conflict in an oil-rich nation somewhere in Africa. However, it turned deadly, leading to massive bloodshed and needless loss of lives.

It is a story with a sad ending, but it is enjoyable. The most remarkable part is the degree of action that the director was able to achieve despite the African setting.

3. NAMASTE WAHALA: Love meets culture in this Nollywood drama when an Indian expatriate living in Nigeria falls in love with a Nigerian woman.

This movie, released on Valentine’s Day, was a product of a collaboration between Nollywood and Bollywood.

It is a good movie, with a storyline and the right amount of humour.

Politics / #endsars: Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea by Nigeria2day(m): 11:50am On Oct 11, 2020
The call and protest to #EndSARS in the country began three years ago. It was championed on Twitter by a Nigerian realtor and human rights activist, Segun Awosanya, with the Twitter handle @segalink.

The aim of the #EndSARS agitation was to stop the brutality of the Nigeria Police and excesses of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad. And fortunately, Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo called for the review of the SARS, which made President Muhammadu Buhari draft Awosanya as a member of the presidential panel to overhaul the police unit, now known as the FSARS.

However, despite whatever changes and functions that might have been added or removed, the FSARS continued to hound innocent Nigerians more than it has fought criminal activities. It was as if the ‘federal’ added to it from 2018 was a curse.

It could be categorically affirmed that the spate of the viciousness of the FSARS increased. There were series of harassment, seizing of phones and laptops from Nigerian youths, arresting young people with dreadlocks, extorting money from citizens, and the most unfortunate parts of their horrible atrocities were killing and maiming of people. Then, one would ask if they were wolves in sheep’s clothing. The question that would pop up in one’s mind was if they were to protect the citizens or brutalise them.

Just like most of the men at the helms of affairs conferred with power in this country, thereby misusing and abusing it, the men of the FSARS have overstepped their bounds, and hence, the reason for another second wave of the current #EndSARS protests. The haunted and victimised Nigerian youths have had enough of these gun-taunting demons in black uniforms and demanding #EndSARS.

So far so good, the peaceful protests had gained momentum, this time around with prominent celebrities leading the processions. The likes of the British-Nigerian actor, John Boyega, Nigerian music artistes such as Runtown, Small Doctor, Tiwa Savage and Falz have demonstrated that the FSARS personnel should be banned from operating. In the same manner, Nigerian footballers like Ahmed Musa, Leon Balogun, John Ogu and former goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme were among those protesting to make the federal government eradicate the FSARS.

While the protests were held in Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, Ughelli, Owerri and other cities, the boldness and unanimous voice of the Nigerian youth and stakeholders behind the demonstrations should be applauded. The show was another indication that Nigerians cannot continually tolerate the criminality of the security operatives against the people they are supposed to protect.
