Politics / BREAKING NEWS: EFCC Discovers Another $37.5 Million In Diezani’s Lagos Mansion! by NigeriaKitchen: 5:57am On Feb 11, 2017
EFCC in another breakthrough after Yakubu's million $$$ cash uncover, discovers $37.5m in Diezani’s Lagos mansion

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in another breakthrough in Lagos said that it has discovered the sum of N11.75bn allegedly said to be that of former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke. Also Mr Ibrahim Magu, Acting Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Thursday confirmed the recovery of 9.75 million dollars and 750,000 pounds from a residence in Kaduna state.

According to the EFCC Diezani was said to have bought the building situated in Lagos popular bourgeoise island called Banana Island between 2011 and 2012 at a total cost of $37.5m from the YF Construction Development and Real Estate.

EFCC said, “The aggressive drive by the EFCC to recover all hidden assets of former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, who is under investigation for corruption and money laundering, produced another breakthrough this week with the discovery of a property acquired through shell companies by the former minister at upscale Banana Island in Lagos. “The property is a 15-storey edifice comprising 18 flats and six penthouses.

“The property was acquired by the former minister between 2011 and 2012 at a total cost of $37.5m from the developers, YF Construction Development and Real Estate. The property was allegedly acquired in the name of a shell company, Rusimpex Limited under the control of certain Mr.

Afamefuna Nwokedi of Stillwaters law firm, in Lagos.” Last year, the commission seized an $18m mansion in the Asokoro area of Abuja allegedly belonging to the ex-minister. She has, however, denied all the allegations levelled against her. Mr Ibrahim Magu, Acting Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Thursday confirmed the recovery of 9.75 million dollars and 750,000 pounds from a residence in Kaduna state.

He also confirmed that N1.25 billion was recovered from a public servant and said that all the monies were recovered within two weeks. Magu stated this in a report he presented to the House of Representatives Committee on Financial Crimes during the 2016 budget performance appraisal and defence of 2017 budget before the committee. He said the commission recovered N102.91 billion, 8.30 million dollars, GBP 29,155, 12,475 pounds, 117,004 Canadian dollars as proceeds of crime between January and December, 2016. Other monies recovered during the period, he said, were 806.50 Dirham, 5,000 Francs and 2,000 Rupees.

“Out of the 37 accounts frozen/forfeited, six banks are yet to provide relevant information on the amount accrued into the suspected accounts within the period under review,’’ he said. The document revealed that the commission secured 135 convictions, out of which 46 were from Lagos zone, 30 from Abuja zone, 22 from Port Harcourt zone, 19 from Kano zone, 15 from Enugu zone and three from Gombe zone during the period. Magu acknowledged the support of the committee towards fast-tracking completing of EFCC headquarters in Abuja.

He disclosed that the Federal Ministry of Finance had listed the payment of N1.8 billion out of N2.9 billion meant for completion of the headquarters. He, however, added that the commission had resuscitated its offices in Kaduna, Ibadan, Benin and Maiduguri as part of efforts to boost its operations across the country. Magu urged the legislature to support the fight against graft, saying “corruption is fighting back”. On recruitment, he said that the commission only recruited 331 cadets on equal quota basis across the country except Lagos, Ekiti, Bayelsa and Rivers with lower numbers.

Giving breakdown of the 2016 appropriated allocation to the commission, Magu told the committee that total budgetary approval was N18.89 billion, but that N14.74 billion representing 78.04 per cent was released. He explained that N7.62 billion was for personnel cost, overhead was N2.75 billion while capital expenditure was N8.49 billion for the year. Magu added that 91.1 per cent component of the released funds had so far been utilised.

Earlier, Chairman of the committee, Rep. Kayode Oladele, said that Nigeria had applied to join the league of members of Financial Action Task Force (FATF), an international anti-corruption agency. He said that the move was part of efforts to strengthen ongoing anti-corruption crusade in the country. Oladele, who lauded the development, expressed optimism that Nigeria would be admitted as “Observer Member’’ by the end of the year and would become full-time member in the nearest future. “Our collective efforts to unleash sustainable development in Nigeria through the rooting out of corruption will not produce the desired result if Nigeria is unable to transact in the international market place without let or hindrance.

“In this regard, Nigeria has applied to join the FATF and based on the level of our commitment. “A high-level delegation from the FATF is due to visit Nigeria in March, 2017, to meet with various stakeholders and report back to its plenary in June, this year. “I have no doubt that we will be successfully accredited and admitted at the end of the exercise,” he said. Oladele commended EFCC for the successes recorded so far and said: “for the first time in Nigeria’s history, anti-corruption searchlights have been beamed on the judiciary and the revelations have been mind-blogging. “In addition, similar exercises in the arms procurement process by the Nigerian military have also led to several arrests.

“Overall, the EFCC made the highest number of recoveries of stolen resources, running into billions of naira in a single year in the annals of Nigeria’s anti-corruption efforts.” The chairman solicited the support of Nigerians in stemming the scourge of corruption in various facets of the economy. According to him, the fight against corruption is one of the most potent weapons to fight recession which structural cause is rooted in waste, looting, misplacement of priorities and misappropriation of yesteryears.

Oladele also pledged the support of the house to the EFCC and assured of life assurance for the commission’s operatives.

The most painful part of this is that there's no hope that things will get better in the next 2 - 6yrs, and let's not forget that in Nigeria, whatever goes up, never comes down, so Nigerians should never expect these prices to come down.

It takes at least 200 years for any currency to fall this flat no matter how bad the economy is....from $1 = NGN170 to $1 = NGN505 today Mhen, in a sane country, Buhari and all his economic team ought to resign honorably because its a big shame!

In less than 2years of being the president, the country became this bad....I think this is more spiritual than we think, maybe karma is paying Nigeria back or karma is paying Buhari and Nigeria back for their past evils, maybe angry angry

Foreign Affairs / 7yr Old Syrian Girl Write Trump: If You Help Syrian Children I'll Be Your Friend by NigeriaKitchen: 9:04am On Jan 26, 2017
7-year-old Syrian Girl Writes Trump: Promises to Become Trump's Friend if Trump Helps Syrian Children!

Bana Alabed, the 7-year-old girl whose tweets about life in Aleppo touched hearts around the world, penned an open letter to President Trump beseeching him to do something to help children still suffering in Syria.

“I know you will be the President of America so can you please save the children and people of Syria? You must do something for the children of Syria because they are like your children and deserve peace like you,” she wrote. “If you promise you will do something for the children of Syria I am already your friend.”

The complete handwritten letter, which was written shortly before Trump’s inauguration, opens with Bana introducing herself as a girl who fled eastern Aleppo in December and is now finally enjoying peace in Turkey. She said that her Syrian school has been bombed and that several of her friends had died.

“I am very sad about them and wish they were with me because we would play together by (sic) right now. I could not play in Aleppo. It was a city of death,” Bana wrote.

Although she now lives in peace and attends a new school, she continued, millions of Syrian children are still suffering throughout Syria and need help.

Bana uploaded a picture of the full letter to Twitter on Wednesday, with a caption directed at Trump: “I beg you, can you do something for the children of Syria? If you can, I will be your best friend. Thank you.”

Bana’s mother, Fatemah Alabed, helped her launch and manage the Twitter account while they were still stranded in rebel-controlled eastern Aleppo. They gained hundreds of thousands of followers (362,000 as of Wednesday afternoon) while documenting the horrors of daily life in Syria.

Followers would see Bana’s routine as a regular 7-year-old — playing with her siblings, reading “Harry Potter” novels, etc. — repeatedly disrupted by bombardments and chaos of Syria’s civil war. For many, Bana became an international symbol for the toll that modern warfare takes on children, and her tweets were likened to Anne Frank’s diary entries while she was hiding from the Nazis during the Holocaust.

Trump has spoken out against the United States relocating more refugees in the United States. He is expected to sign executive orders Wednesday imposing a temporary ban on most refugees, as well as a suspension of visas for people from Syria and several other countries in the Middle East and Africa.

In a follow-up tweet, Bana told Trump “banning refugees is very bad.”

bamisepeters:
when you think about sex, is it with woods or holes in the wall?
So you haven't heard that men (black, white, Arab, Asian, Red Indies, Hispanic, rich, poor, average, influential, dull, intelligent, smart, wise) think about sex more than 100 times per hour You can read from popular psychologists and human behavioral/biological experts if you doubt.

What men think often is 'how to have sex', its now left to the man in question to think of how to fulfill that constant thought for sex, whether with a woman, animal (some perverted men do), fellow men, mastu*rbation, watching po**rnography, attacking everybody beneath him or around him, etc.

This is why sex sells; simply because men by nature are created that way, to desire mating as often as you can think of.

The only thing trying to change man's natural form and insatiable desire for sex is RELIGION! If not for religion, I wonder what would have happened lipsrsealed lipsrsealed

bamisepeters:
This post is just to tell the ladies or let me just say to confirm to the ladies what they "already know".

Men unlike women don't have many things to think about than making their live better and pleasurable, but those little things can cause more harm than good.

Here are 3 important things men thinks about:

1. MONEY

Money is not just the root of evils but also the pillar of all goods.

Every man want to be financially independent especially among their peers.

Every man want to be caring to their women as money takes important part when it comes to being caring to one's woman as money makes a woman more happier and maybe more loyal(though the belief of some men)
They want to give their children quality education and to make them look good among their peers.

Every good man thinks about how to be able to give when financial needs arise both in his family along with his siblings and that of the family of his woman.

The thought of this(money) alone can kill a man or make any man settle for evil to make the money when it is not coming through doing good, but it must not just be a justification for evil deeds.

[s]2. WOMEN

Well, some men will say women don't deserve to be allowed too much in the mind as their other name is betrayal.

I don't share this same thought though, as i have seen many good women who deserves to be cherished.

A good man thinks about his woman, how she will be ahead of her peers, that when they don't see her they cannot make decision.

Many other men thinks about how to spend pleasurable moment with other women as the one at home has passed her prime.

The not-married-men also want to taste many ladies for the fun of it and to show superiority among their peers.

Even as many men proclaim that money takes superior part of their thought, when they don't have money they still think about women, when they now have the woman they start thinking about money.[/s]

3. SPORT

The popular sport is football which men made popular through their followership, what makes it different from the rest of the sports is still vague to me.

Football makes many men forget their sorrows, lack and wants.

When the game is about to start the woman must be careful as it can cause unending battle if she trespasses especially when the team the man is supporting is at the verge of losing or lost, it will be a huge commotion if he is into betting and that match will make him lose lots of money.

Little wonder many women support the team their man supports so that they feel the same way whatever the outcome of the game is.

Just like the way a man feels at the beginning of a relationship so also is the way they feel and think when they are anticipating the beginning of any match of their team especially when it is against a tough opponent.

US President Donald Trump Promises to Destroy & Wipe Out All Islamic Terrorist Groups! - Renewed hope for the world

Yesterday being the 20th of January, 2017, America stepped into a new era as a new democratically elected president, Donald J Trump got sworn into office as the 45th President of the United States of America (POTUS) after a controversial landslide defeat of popular Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton who happens to be a former US First Lady and Secretary of State.

During his inaugural speech, newly sworn in President of the United States vowed to wipe out all Islamic Terrorist organizations from the face of the earth, which has brought a renewed hope for all peace lovers in the world, especially those in volatile regions that have been traumatized and victimized for close to a decade by various deadly islamic terror groups that witnessed a surge in birth since the past 8 years.

Read Donald Trump's original speech below after the page cut:

We will seek friendship and goodwill with the nations of the world, but we do so with the understanding that it is the right of all nations to put their own interests first. We do not seek to impose our way of life on anyone, but rather to let it shine as an example. We will shine for everyone to follow.

(APPLAUSE)

We will reinforce old alliances and form new ones and unite the civilized world against radical Islamic terrorism, which we will eradicate from the face of the Earth. Trump quoted in his inaugural speech yesterday.

This according to political journalists around the world, has sent fears into the tents of terrorist groups operating in Middle East and Africa and their secret sponsors, but then, the question is: will President Trump be able to achieve this feat, and if yes, in how many years

Whatever it is, it is sure a welcomed development and a strong message to all terrorist associations disrupting the peace of the world.

Foreign Affairs / Re: Barack Obama Lists His Achievements As President: Americans React! by NigeriaKitchen: 11:00am On Jan 07, 2017
We’ve also worked to make the changing face of America more fair and more just — including by making strides towards criminal justice reform, making progress towards equal pay, repealing Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and advancing the cause of civil rights, women’s rights, and LGBT rights. I appointed two extraordinary women to the Supreme Court, marking the first time in history that three women sit on the bench, including the first Latina. And today in America, marriage equality is finally a reality across all fifty states.

This is where America stands after eight years of progress. By so many measures, our country is stronger and more prosperous than it was when we started — a situation I’m proud to leave for my successor. And it’s thanks to you — to the hard work you’ve put in; the sacrifices you’ve made for your families and communities; the way you’ve looked out for one another.

Still, through every victory and every setback, I’ve insisted that change is never easy, and never quick; that we wouldn’t meet all of our challenges in one term, or one presidency, or even in one lifetime. And for all that we’ve achieved, there’s still so much I wish we’d been able to do, from enacting gun safety measures to protect more of our kids and our cops from mass shootings like Newtown, to passing commonsense immigration reform that encourages the best and brightest from around the world to study, stay, and create jobs in America.

And for all the incredible progress our economy has made in just eight years, we still have more work to do for every American still in need of a good job or a raise, paid leave or a dignified retirement. We have to acknowledge the inequality that has come from an increasingly globalized economy while committing ourselves to making it work better for everyone, not just those at the top, and give everyone who works hard a fair shot at success.

And here’s the thing — over the past eight years, we’ve shown that we can. Last year, income gains were actually larger for households at the bottom and the middle than for those at the top. We’ve also made the tax code fairer. The tax changes enacted over the past eight years have ensured that the top one percent of Americans pay more of their fair share, increasing the share of income received by all other families by more than the tax changes in any previous administration since at least 1960. Simply put, we’ve actually begun the long task of reversing inequality. But as the global economy changes, we’ll have to do more to accelerate these trends, from strengthening unions that speak for workers, to preventing colleges from pricing out hardworking students, to making sure that minimum wage workers get a raise and women finally get paid the same as men for doing the same job. What won’t help is taking health care away from 30 million Americans, most of them white and working class; denying overtime pay to workers, most of whom have more than earned it; or privatizing Medicare and Social Security and letting Wall Street regulate itself again — none of which middle-class Americans voted for.

We will have to move forward as we always have — together. As a people who believe that out of many, we are one; that we are bound not by any one race or religion, but rather an adherence to a common creed; that all of us are created equal in the eyes of God. And I’m confident we will. Because the change we’ve brought about these past eight years was never about me. It was about you. It is you, the American people, who have made the progress of the last eight years possible. It is you who will make our future progress possible. That, after all, is the story of America — a story of progress. However halting, however incomplete, however harshly challenged at each point on our journey — the story of America is a story of progress.

Recently, I asked each member of my talented and dedicated Cabinet to prepare a detailed report on the progress we’ve made across the board these past eight years, and the work that remains to make this country we love even stronger. Today, I’m sharing them with you. And I hope you’ll share them with others, and do your part to build on the progress we’ve made across the board.

It has been the privilege of my life to serve as your President. And as I prepare to pass the baton and do my part as a private citizen, I’m proud to say that we have laid a new foundation for America. A new future is ours to write. And I’m as confident as ever that it will be led by the United States of America — and that our best days are still ahead.

Sincerely,
Barack Obama

Foreign Affairs / Re: Barack Obama Lists His Achievements As President: Americans React! by NigeriaKitchen: 10:59am On Jan 07, 2017
Continued....

Our dependence on foreign oil has been cut by more than half, and our production of renewable energy has more than doubled. In many places across the country, clean energy from the wind is now cheaper than dirtier sources of energy, and solar now employs more Americans than coal mining in jobs that pay better than average and can’t be outsourced. We also enacted the most sweeping reforms since the Great Depression to protect consumers and prevent a crisis on Wall Street from punishing Main Street ever again. These actions didn’t stifle growth, as critics predicted. Instead, the stock market has nearly tripled. Since I signed Obamacare into law, America’s businesses have added more than 15 million new jobs. And the economy is undoubtedly more durable than it was in the days when we relied on oil from unstable nations and banks took risky bets with your money.

The high school graduation rate is now 83 percent — the highest on record — and we’ve helped more young people graduate from college than ever before.

At the same time, we’ve worked to offer more options for Americans who decide not to pursue college, from expanding apprenticeships, to launching high-tech manufacturing institutes, to revamping the job training system and creating programs like TechHire to help people train for higher-paying jobs in months, not years. We’ve connected more schools across the country to broadband internet, and supported more teachers to bring coding, hands-on making, and computational thinking into our classrooms to prepare all our children for a 21st century economy.

Add it all up, and last year, the poverty rate fell at the fastest rate in almost fifty years while the median household income grew at the fastest rate on record. And we’ve done it all while cutting our deficits by nearly two-thirds even as we protected investments that grow the middle class.

Meanwhile, over the past eight years, no foreign terrorist organization has successfully planned and executed an attack on our homeland. Plots have been disrupted. Terrorists like Osama bin Laden have been taken off the battlefield. We’ve drawn down from nearly 180,000 troops in harm’s way in Iraq and Afghanistan to just 15,000. With a coalition of more than 70 nations and a relentless campaign of more than 16,000 airstrikes so far, we are breaking the back of ISIL and taking away its safe havens, and we’ve accomplished this at a cost of $10 billion over two years — the same amount that we spent in one month at the height of the Iraq War.

At the same time, America has led the world to meet a set of global challenges. Through diplomacy, we shut down Iran’s nuclear weapons program, opened up a new chapter with the people of Cuba, and brought nearly 200 nations together around a climate agreement that could save this planet for our kids. With new models for development, American assistance is helping people around the world feed themselves, care for their sick, and power communities across Africa. And almost every country on Earth sees America as stronger and more respected today than they did eight years ago. All of this progress is due to the service of millions of Americans in intelligence, law enforcement, homeland security, diplomacy, and the brave men and women of our Armed Forces — the most diverse institution in America.

Just in case you aren't aware by now, Barack Obama will cease to be President of the United States of America at 12:00 pm on January 20, 2017. It doesn't happen when he hands over the presidential seal or when his successor takes their oath of office; it happens when the clock strikes noon.

In his own written memo, Barrack Obama penned down his achievements as American president for 8 years in a memo he titled: "To My Fellow Americans", and even though the memo looked rich with achievements, some Americans didn't agree with him as they responded in a negative comment.

If you are in a rush, no need reading further, but if you are prepared to go through summarized list of Obama's achievements as America's President for 8 good years, then see details below:

To my fellow Americans

President Obama’s letter to the American people on the progress we’ve made together

Editor’s note: As we look back on the past eight years, President Obama asked each member of his Cabinet to write an Exit Memo on the progress we’ve made, their vision for the country’s future, and the work that remains in order to achieve that vision.

Eight years ago, America faced a moment of peril unlike any we’d seen in decades.

A spiraling financial crisis threatened to plunge an economy in recession into a deep depression. The very heartbeat of American manufacturing — the American auto industry — was on the brink of collapse. In some communities, nearly one in five Americans were out of work. Nearly 180,000 American troops were serving in harm’s way in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the mastermind of the worst terror attack on American soil remained at large. And on challenges from health care to climate change, we’d been kicking the can down the road for way too long.

But in the depths of that winter, on January 20, 2009, I stood before you and swore a sacred oath. I told you that day that the challenges we faced would not be met easily or in a short span of time — but they would be met. And after eight busy years, we’ve met them — because of you.

Eight years later, an economy that was shrinking at more than eight percent is now growing at more than three percent. Businesses that were bleeding jobs unleashed the longest streak of job creation on record. The auto industry has roared its way back, saving one million jobs across the country and fueling a manufacturing sector that, after a decade of decline, has added new jobs for the first time since the 1990s. And wages have grown faster over the past few years than at any time in the past forty.

Today, thanks to the Affordable Care Act, another 20 million American adults know the financial security and peace of mind that comes with health insurance. Another three million children have gained health insurance. For the first time ever, more than ninety percent of Americans are insured — the highest rate ever. We’ve seen the slowest growth in the price of health care in fifty years, along with improvements in patient safety that have prevented an estimated 87,000 deaths. Every American with insurance is covered by the strongest set of consumer protections in history — a true Patients’ Bill of Rights — and free from the fear that illness or accident will derail your dreams, because America is now a place where discrimination against preexisting conditions is a relic of the past. And the new health insurance marketplace means that if you lose your job, change your job, or start that new business, you’ll finally be able to purchase quality, affordable care and the security and peace of mind that comes with it — and that’s one reason why entrepreneurship is growing for the second straight year.

Romance / Greece Ambassador To Brazil Murdered By His Wife’s Secret Policeman Lover by NigeriaKitchen: 2:22pm On Dec 31, 2016
Greece’s ambassador to Brazil was murdered in a plot hatched by his Brazilian wife and her police officer lover, who confessed to the crime, officials said Friday.

The envoy, Kyriakos Amiridis, 59, was killed on Monday by the officer, Sergio Gomez Moreira, Rio homicide division chief Evaristo Pontes told a news conference.

Amiridis’s charred body was found Thursday in Rio in his burned-out rental car, a day after his wife, Francoise de Souza Oliveira, declared him missing.

Oliveira, 40, and Moreira, 29, both admitted to having an affair, police said.

The pair are in custody, along with Moreira’s 24-year-old cousin, Eduardo Moreira de Melo, who allegedly also took part.

According to the homicide division chief, Oliveira denied participating in the murder itself, but confessed she knew of the crime.

Family vacation
Amiridis, who was named ambassador this year, had been on a family vacation with his wife in the north of Rio de Janeiro since December 21.

They had been due to fly back to the capital Brasilia on January 9.

His wife had originally told police that he had left the Rio apartment they were staying in, taken the car and not returned.

But her version had contradictions, and after Amiridis’s body was found in the burned-out car under a bridge, police took Oliveira in for more questioning, and also detained Moreira.

Traces of blood were reportedly found on a sofa in the apartment Amiridis and Oliveira had been using, leading investigators to believe he had been killed there, then his body was placed in the rental car and driven to the spot it was found.

Pontes said that Oliveira had offered his cousin the equivalent of $25,000 to help with murdering the ambassador.

Moreira acknowledged that he and Amiridis had had a physical fight, and that he had strangled the ambassador in self-defense.

Young daughter Amiridis had previously served as Greece’s consul general in Rio from 2001 to 2004, where he met Oliveira.

The couple have a 10-year-old daughter.

A Greek police team was headed for Brazil to take part in the investigation, while Greece’s ambassador in Argentina was traveling to Brasilia, Athens said.

In a letter to the Greek government, Brazilian President Michel Temer sent his condolences and conveyed his government’s commitment to conducting a “rigorous” investigation.

“The Brazilian people do not accept this type of behavior and we apologize to the entire Greek population,” said the director of Rio’s homicide division, Rivaldo Barbosa.

He called the murder “isolated” and a “crime of passion” that he said has nothing to do with Rio’s elevated levels of violence.

Rio de Janeiro, though picturesque, has a reputation as a dangerous place. The 2016 Olympic host city has seen crime rates soar in recent months, fueled by drug gang violence.

Hit hard by Brazil’s worst recession in more than a century, Rio de Janeiro state is facing bankruptcy and struggling to deal with the violent crime that has long dogged the area.

According to an eye witness at the event, this happened last night, during the Sound City MVP Awards at the Eko Hotel and suites in Victoria Island Lagos. Wizkid had arrived at the venue a bit late, and was directed to sit close to a young lady who was probably a fan.

The lady was reportedly star struck when Wizkid sat beside her, as she suddenly kept a straight face on her phone. After few minutes she gathered the courage to take some shots of wizkid with her phone.

After few minutes, Wizkid whispered to one of the crewmen he arrived with and they had an exchange of seat as he made his guy sit close to the lady.
