Catholicism has no boundary hence the church is universal. You can join the opening of mass in lagos, follow the gospel reading in brasil, have communion in australia and final blessing in new york. A priest is born in Ireland, becomes a mass server in san francisco california and serves in lagos/bodija-ibadan as a priest. He died in Nigeria and was never even a monsignor but touched so many lives. We are catholics first, be you a monsignor, monsineur, bishop, archbishop, cardinal or the pope. You are all Catholic Priests. The rest are administrative positions to manage the church seamlessly. Ahiara diocese is taking the church back to an era corrected with the appointment of Pope John Paul II to date that not only Italians can be pontiff. While one appreciates the contribution of Ahiara Diocese to the priesthood, been a Bishop is not a birthright. A Bishop can be posted anywhere to serve. From Ahiara to the Vatican, politics still needs to leave the church. Benedicamus Domino |

Court orders Afolayan, ex-navy chief, to pay N9m to herdsman for seizing 42 cows NWAFOR POLYCARP 28 JAN 2018 By Demola Akinyemi An Ilorin High Court has ordered a retired navy chief, Vice- Admiral Samuel Olajide Afolayan, to pay N9 million being the cost of damages and for detaining 42 cows belonging to a Fulani herdsman, Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi, illegally and unconstitutionally. The verdict, delivered on January 9, 2018, indicated that the retired admiral was also ordered to pay N500,000 for each day of default of the judgement debt. herdsmen Justice Adeyinka Sikiru Oyinloye gave the judgment in suit NO.KWS/83M/2017. The herdsman, Abdullahi, had sought the declaration of the court that the seizure and/or detention of his 60 cows by the respondent was bizarre, unlawful, illegal and unconstitutional. He also sought the respondent’s unconditionally release of the cows with immediate effect, and another order that the respondent should tender unreserved apology to be published in two national dailies within two weeks of the judgment.. N10m was demanded by the applicant. According to him, security guards attached to Afolayan had accosted his son outside the farm of the respondent in Obo-Ile in Ekiti local government area of Kwara State and pointed gun at him while he was rearing his cows on May 17 2017 and seized the 60 cows. According to him, despite frantic efforts to get the cows back, the respondent held on to them, insisting that N5m had to be paid to get them back. Afolayan in his defence, told the court that the cows were led into his farm on the said day and destroyed his cassava and maize farm worth N2.5m while the applicant burnt his cassava processing plant which made him to insist that he must pay for the losses estimated at N15m, which was later reduced to N5m after pleas. While delivering his judgment, Justice Oyinloye said though the applicant claimed 60 cows were involved, the respondent admitted seizing only 42. Comments Latest News 10:37 |

ghanaman5050:The wise show appreciation. to those who favour them with fortune. It is not enough to harvest other peoples efforts, time etc simply because they were humble and generous not to ask for a fee. They may not ask but show financial appreciation to them for their concerted effort to help all WIN. |

dfrost:I beg to differ here: Nairaland has given Nigerians within and outside the country, young or old, God seeking or Athiest, whichever ethnicity you belong to, the forum to express themselves unhindered. Opinions may differ, yes you may sense bitterness in some posts even hate at times. That is the true value of your human right and your right to free speech. How you use it, what you say, right or wrong is another kettle of tea. Our opinions maybe diverse but we wish Nigeria to be great again, where all are equal custodians of our God given wealth, put to use for the good of all and generations after us. OH GOD Redeem or dear nation Nigeria |
The chicken has come home to roost' As a human being irrespective of your father's sins and youthfull 'exuberance' exhibited by you get well soon. The comments reveal the pains in the land as felt by Nigerians today. Let us compare notes - 1(A)(B) 1(A) Yusuf Buhari is in one of the best hospitals now at the expense of the citizens common wealth. 1(B) Many Nigerians dont have access to Primary Health Care, many cant even afford mere paracetamol and hence resort to prayers. 2(A) At a time when Nigerians are trying to cope with the additional burden of fuel scarcity: Even an ambulance was pictured with a dead body waiting in line for fuel. 2(B) The president's son had enough fuel to thrill himself. Misfortune can strike anyone at anytime even sadly when doing good. In this case, the timing of Yusuf's accident should prick the heart of the first family to think deeply. -WHAT IF? The buck ends on Mr. Presidents table irrespective of his team or cabals failure to solve the economic woes of the nation and the lingering fuel scarcity. If Nigerians were better off before Yusuf's accident there would have been an outpouring of emotions and goodwill. When you bestow hardship on a people for long, their tears may bring you Pharoah's reward for been deaf. |
If he is truly a policeman, it may not seem right but i can accept this compared to him staging illegal road block, extortion from stop and search etc. Times are tough for most people and families. |
“I hide my cuffed hand in my shirt, so that nobody could suspect me and that was how I got commercial motorbike that took me to Kawo police station where the handcuff was unlocked.” . https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/12/police-confirm-raid-mainas-house-handcuff-security-guard-gunmen/[/quote]If this guy was apprehended by vigilante or by the public and given the jungle justice treatment on assumption that he could be an armed robber on the run given the handcuffs. Now the 'law enforcement officers' left him to his fate, to visit the nearest police stantion to get uncuffed. Haba, is this operational procedure? Thank God he is alive, he was not shot and left to die or on some missing persons list now. This contry needs a complete overhaul in all spheres of government. |

For now i see two issues here and each party should see their case through: 1. Innoson Motors is claiming refund of excess charges on their account with GTB. a) Both parties requested an external auditor to audit the account/s in question. Its findings and reports were acceptable to both parties. b) This obviously is resolvable unless the culpable party here is shying away from the truth and with no intent of honoring the outcome of the forensic report on the said account/s. 2. If Innoson as argued by GTB got fraudulent waivers then the arm of the law in charge should go ahead and provide evidence/s to corroborate their claim and if justified sue in a competent court of law and allow the case to see itself through without interference. a) The accused parties should have their day in court b) If found guilty their are penalties under the law for such an offence. Finally Innoson legal team should step up their defence. The matter is public knowledge and their is that possibility of tarnishing the image of the company. If all this is a malicious attempt to achieve that then the perpetrators have failed ab-initio. In same vain its not late for an out of court settlement if their is a case of toxic loan that can be resheduled with a view of keeping Innosson as a company afloat. The Ford's, Fiat's, Volkswagen, Peugeot at one time or the other had headline cases that was bad PR but public interest interestingly prevailed. |
Congratulations GTB.
