His political views aside, Fela was a multi instrumentalist. If you know music you will understand that it ain't easy to play multiple instruments, be very good at it, and still make sense with your music/lyrics.

Its the hype that fela received that that made all those Europeans know him.
If not for the hype they won't know him.

Ok take for instance.. Wizkid
U can say wizkid is the most exposed among our naija musicians now.
Talking exposed I mean being able to roll with more foreign musicians.
But does that make wizkid the best musician in Nigeria now undecided

Hell no.(mind u I'm not saying he is not good)
But there are some musicians here who are making sense more than wizkid and even having views than him on u tube... RUNTOWN is one of them.

Now Thats what hyping did to wizkid because he started wen he was so little and he was hyped for being a kid and that skyrocketed him to that level.

Hope u got my point no hard feelings.
For me Fela was wrongly hyped he was a bad example to the industry.

I'm Yoruba and everyone I know knows he died from complications related to AIDS. I don't know where you are getting your own news from. Maybe some bloggers are making up stuff. Anyone that was grown at the time of his death (1997) knows what killed him and everyone at the time accepted the fact.

And by the way, yeah Fela wasn't perfect, but he was a great musician... arguably the greatest African musician of all time.

The truth is yorubas know how to hype their own. I dont really have a problem with that its good to support ur own.
But hyping some1 like fela who should be remembered for setting bad example in the industry is no no for me.

The bad manners some musicians are displaying today.. Such as
having numerous babymama, smoking hemp publicly, doing dirty things on stage.

Seriously I'm not suprised at all , this is what his father did, Fela lived a wayward Life and died of HIV, his people twisted it that he was killed.
In a sane clime fela should be remembered as a bad influence to the NIGERIAN entertainment industry.
But nop they hyped him to Icon SMH.

anyways I'm not surprised becoz its a norm supporting evil thing in that part of the country.
