Ibime:Mehn take it easy. I think either Crespo or Batistuta had exactly the same problem with almost no cartilage left in the knees after retirement. Wish you the best of luck and recovery mate. |
SIRcumalot:I'm not sure if a marriage of Jon and Danaerys makes much political sense. She would need to marry someone who can lend legitimacy to her rule after her invasion ends. Right now Jon is king in the north, but how much political clout does he actually hold? He has no men under his own banner save for some wildlings, though admittedly he has the support of the major northern houses. I doubt that the title of 'king in the north' means much outside the north, and to be honest, neither does the Stark name. So I don't think there's really any political advantage to marrying him. I also doubt that the martells and the tyrells would be particularly interested in submitting to the starks. Lets see how it plays out. |
Christ! Una dey try for here. See injuries. Ibime do you even have synovial fluid in that knee? See as the joints dey float |
FBS:LOL I doubt that anyone of us here works in the backrooms for Manyoo. But best believe that the coaches and backroom staff at United watch Rashford play from day 1, and know who is super talented and who is not. They also know who is ready for a 1st team chance and who isnt. Secondly, if and when we play them, its usually out of position. e.g Kakuta. He had the WOW factor, he was supposed to be the next BIG star but what did we do with him? Destroyed him.I don't think we destroyed Kakuta at all. He got his chances...he just did not(or maybe could not) take them. His manager at vitesse is on record castigating him in public for his lack of professionalism. Even the scout who actually discovered him for Lens also pointed out that the boy didn't work hard on the training pitch. Sturridge was from the same set as Kakuta..and was the one who was often played out of position. Look how that worked out. Take RLC for instance and I stand to be corrected but imo, the boy is more of an AM than a DM, so why play in that position? A position so glaring to see that he is not interested in playing....fast forward 15 secs...you go dey hear " the boy is lazy..."I don't know about this. The boy himself admits that he is struggling to cope with the rigours of the EPL...which is no surprise given his very limited experience in the EPL and professional football as a whole. Traore, Zouma, all making waves now and godddaaaamit (I stand with nateevs here grin ) would they have made it to the first team assuming they joined Chelsea aged 11?Like I said earlier, Zouma may have made it to the first team or he may not. Regardless, the boy is an exceptional talent. I think that grouping all these talents together under the umbrella of 'youth' rather trivialises the discussion. All fingers are not equal. Ori yato si Ori. Zouma is easily the most talented young defender at the club right now. You could pick a random CB from the reserves right now, stick him in a time machine, send him back to 2009 and give him the exact same training and experience as Zouma got, and Zouma will likely still be better. The key thing to understand in Rashford's case is that the manager's hand was forced. He was a special talent, but the club weren't playing him because he wasn't ready. In fact, they weren't playing him that much in the reserves. He wasn't ready. All of a sudden a freak combination of injuries and suspensions meant that there was no one else to turn to...and then he took his chance. But look what's happened in their recent transfers. I think that if you consider how many players we hoover in each year, and factor in how many players are competing for just 11 positions, you will fully appreciate why first team youth have to be exceptional to get that chance. Otherwise they go on loan to gain experience and impress. The level at which Chelsea competes demands elite talent. We just can't afford to train up babies. That's just the cold hard fact. |
Faaaaack!!!!! You jam trailer or trailer jam you? That's nasty bro. Wish you a full recovery |
Gbola5:In so many ways. |
diggz:PvA and Bertrand are utterly mediocre. Completely forgetable players. Bertrand in particular has been kept on the bench at international level by Gibbs, Baines, and Danny rose who aren't exactly incarnations of Roberto Carlos. They weren't good enough to bench Ashley Cole and weren't good enough to bench a Right Back. Please stop mentioning these guys as examples of 'talent' we've lost. It makes your entire argument rather weak. |
nateevs:Maybe. Most likely not. Zouma IS an exceptional player. You don't break into the first team in a top European league aged 16 if you're not exceptional. That being said, exceptional talent must be nurtured with training and first team football before it can blossom into stardom. I don't think there any Chelsea manager would feel comfortable giving a rookie 16 year old 20 apps ot the heart of defence in his inaugural season...but St Etienne clearly did. Because the pressures and expectations are different. |
raumdeuter:Its not about quantity. It's about quality. For instance, if we look at Bayern now, there are only 2 academy products in the first team ( i won't count Hummels because his education and experience came from elsewhere). Where are Muller and Alaba's academy mates? The fact is, if you're going to pick any untested youth, their talent has to be undeniable. It's no coincidence that the likes of Miller and Alaba and Lahm or Schweinsteiger would go on to be world class players... Plus the Bayern reserve system plays professional footy anyway, and this these guys have more professional experience from an early age and thus have the developmental advantage of their age mates in England. Secondly the loan system also allows us to develop players for sale,so that the ones we deem not good enough can still be sold for good cash. |
I've read some really interesting things today. John Swift who has now signed for Reading is one of those youth players, who some of us complain about not seeing enough of in the first team. This is what he has to say on Youth Progression at Chelsea. It’s obviously hard for any young players because it’s such a big team and there are so many big players there,” said the 21-year-old - who turned down a contract offer to stay with the Premier League giants.Notice that he actually doesn't blame the club or the way it's run. He actually acknowledges how difficult it is for the managers to pick these untried and untested youth given the immense pressure to succeed at the club. It's particular interesting for the fact that he mentions that he was training with the first team, so it's not like the managers did not know who he was. "All you want is to try and prove yourself but it's really hard for a player to get into the first-team. Everyone knows that. You go back for pre-season, you train with the first-team and try and show what you can do. But there are obviously so many other players that you are in and amongst."This echoes what Nathan Ake said here: You need to show you are ready and there is so much pressure [at Chelsea]. It’s a bit different to here[Watford] because at Chelsea you have to be champions and have a good season. There is so much pressure and if you are young you might feel that a bit more.He goes on to point out that the managers actually keep tabs on what's happening in u-21 when Mourinho came straight away I was dropped back to the Under-21s and that was quite hard for me. I thought ‘What have I done wrong?’But even while training with the first team, Jose didn't think he was ready: “I asked the manager what I could improve, if there were things I could adapt in my game,” he says. “But Mourinho said I was training well and performing well in the games I played but that I had to wait for my chance. And I could understand it, as there were so many big players at the club.”Its not just about youth. It's about the 'right' youth and/or the 'right experience" Zouma and Christensen have only 14 months age gap between them. Yet Zouma isn't just in the first team...he relegated Cahill to the bench. Whilst Christensen is still in the loan system. The difference is simple. Christensen joined our youth system at the age of 16 from the Bronby reserves. At that same age, Zouma made his professional debut for St Etienne. Christensen played his first competitive game of his career at the age of 19. Zouma aged 19 had 3 full seasons of professional footy behind him and had earned his move to Chelsea. 14 months age difference, but the difference is clear. And THIS is the reason why I support the loan system vigorously. |
Griffon:I don't know why they haven't enforced these rules earlier. In Rugby, if you backchat the ref say after a penalty, he can actually do the equivalent of moving the wall back. In fact, the players on the Rugby Union pitch call the ref Sir. |
http://twentyminutereads.com/ Probably one of the best football blogs I've read ever. If you're into profile pieces about certain players, managers, clubs or particular games, try and check them out. |
I would definitely go with Sanchez as well. It's not just the fact that he's skillful, but his hustle is top notch. As long as Sanchez is on the pitch, anything can happen. |
Griffon:I thought griezman just signed a new 4 or 5 year deal |
codedguy1:Pataki is probably at work right now. He works as a rewire in weekdays, and does nightshift with LAWMA on 3rd mainland every Monday Wednesday and Friday. He also used to work at the abattoir during ileya, Christmas and easter though I don't know if he still does that. He's a very hardworking guy, so sharpk007 needs to exercise patience. Pataki will still add him to the group soon. |
sharpk007:Bruh don't mind Dayo jare. He jokes around a lot. I don't offer trials to people. The club does. However, at the last training ground session, one of the coaches mentioned that they still need a Left back and a Winger. If you're up for it, you can post videos of yourself in football action inthe Chelsea WhatsApp group and I will pass it on to the backroom staff. Has Pataki added you yet? |
As e dey hot for my current FM save... ![]() #Random

A40:Nothing to prove...except his competence |
A40:The only person wailing here is you...well, You and Dayo. I know it must hurt that after many years of publicly claiming that individual honours don't matter, whilst inwardly crying for your boy, his time has finally come...but alas, nobody reckons with such a clearly fallacious list. I know that secretly you must wish that Giggs name wasn't on that list to strip your boy's recognition of any legitimacy. It's almost like UEFA are trolling your boy...but finally giving him recognition, but only on a list people will recognise as a joke. Like "BoasTANK....na joke I dey joke o" We recognise a few JBs - James Brown, James Bond, Jason Bourne and Johnny Bravo...but BoasTANK ain't one. ![]() |
A40:If some people out there are actually voting for Will Grigg ahead of Aubamayang, then their personal preference is highly questionable, and their professional integrity is in jeopardy. I cannot accept that such persons are qualified to judge footballing talent and thus reliable arbiters in this kind of exercise. Thus, this list must be discredited by all well meaning sports fans everywhere, whilst believers in such a fallacious list should be given 12 strokes of electrical cable in the nearest market square. The only Ghana we recognise Must Go |
raumdeuter:The only Jerome we recognise is Cameron. No drug-fuelled list compiled by a crack head will convince us that Will Grigg is as good as Paul Pogba. |
A40:The only Boateng we recognise is Ozzie. We refuse to accept such a patently fraudulent list where Will Grigg is voted to be better than KDB. |
Will Grigg played in League 1 last season o...not Ligue 1. League 1 ![]() Desperados ni eyin mejeji mehn ![]() |
A40:If you like sing to the heavens. We will not recognise that list. You mean a guy who had a good season in league 1 is better than Aubameyang? And only one Place below Lewandowski. You guys are so desperate to give Jerome his first individual honours that you are willing to wuruwuru to the answer. If not for Boateng, we all know you would never accept the veracity of that list. A40:Individual Honour Metrics are weak....unless they involve BoaSTANK ![]() |
Pataki:Imagine a list that put Will Grigg ahead of KDB, Aubameyang and level with Pogba... Who can take such a list serious? |
A40:If you're questioning BoaSTANK's place in Europe's elite, please put your hands up... Damn bro... ![]() |
A40:The fact that Will Grigg is anywhere near that list invalidates the entire thing. |
A40:Did you check number 25 on that list? ![]() Then tell me how this is even remotely credible. |
lol How many more people have to die before you yanks get it? Trump is apparently in Cleveland today. Ohio is an 'open carry state'. Protesters are saying that they will openly carry their rifles around today What is the logic of giving people license to carry their guns openly in public? ![]() Uncle Dayo our resident black redneck...I look forward to more of your excuses |
Ibime:Same website...same page...different perspective. I think that what you guys have is confirmation bias. You insist that a player is bad, then point at any little mistake he makes as proof that he is bad, even if it could have happened to anybody
|
Ibime:It was a civil debate until you switched it up to accusing me of 'yarning opaks'. The rule of the sports thread mandate that I clap back with immediate effect. Ake's experience in the EPL is not enough. Like I pointed out earlier, Kimmich is not a Bayern academy product. He was a professional player for Redbull that was purchased by Bayern. It's like saying Alli is a Spurs academy player. The experience is not the same I agree that there is no need to turn the debate abusive...but I can guarantee you, every single time we've sparred, the first person to abuse is you.Lets leave it there. Good night. |
pamcode:Brazilians tend to party at the expense of their career - Ronaldinho, Robinho, Adriano, Romario, etc |
