You People just like disturbing . Draft your CV the way you want and stop trying to convince People to follow a Particular template. na by force?
Recently attended an Interview where I was asked questions Like:
How many People make up your family?
are you the first child?
what extra-curricula activities do you engage in?
just goes to show that sometimes giving employers a sneak peek into your social background won't necessarily be a bad idea
there's nothing wrong if you state your marital status or age in your CV, just try to keep it as concise as Possible. When it comes to CVS I'ld say you should Be Creative, Be Unique, Don't be straight-jacketed
The layout and content of your CV determines the kind of interview offers you get(if any)

With the advice you've just given, I'm not surprised at the kind of questions you were facing at your last interview.
Any company that even looks at the kind of CV you've suggested is probably scraping the bottom of the barrel for cheap labour anyway...

You made a good point, but i will disagree with your previous point that mou should have been left to continue. Chelsea is a big club and when its manager fails to manage his wards who he called the betrayers, well, and keeps churning out poor results up and down no serious club owner would stick to him cos of the previous season's feat. mou has done well for us, no doubt. This season he left us in a bad position which would have been worse if he continues. That's a fact. Chelsea is still trying to recover now and we could see the players are now enjoying the game due to a change in approach as directed by the coach. Hiddink had done it in the past and i believe he would do a good job this term too.
When you see a defending champion playing conservative football against the likes of bournemouth then there is big problem. When a coach could nt see the weak links in his team and still believed in luck and waiting for opponents to make mistakes before winning games then he has lost that midas touch. One thing one can easily discover in the chelsea's game now is sense of urgency in defending straight from the moment possession is lost and swift transition to attack when it is gained. Chelsea should not be sitting deep against minnows and waiting for willian to score goals from set-pieces. When we were having issues as regards our players, mou kept on telling us no new additions this january. I am a mourinho's fan but my loyalty to chelsea would n't let me call black, white. Mou's 3rd season syndrome would n't have got us europa league ticket, let alone ucl slot.
Conservative footy against bournemouth you say cheesy
If not for Costa being a pant that day, the story could have been quite different. Hazard too was extremely useless that day.

The problem with groupthink is that it can sometimes affect memory. Like how you remember conservative football v Bournemouth. Or how some fans now remember how Jose was a wack tactician.

Being my guy, I know the one that really pained you was that 'no additions yarns'. I think that it should have been obvious to you that Jose was only trying to encourage his boys....

Anyway, make we go sign that Wijnaldum sharply. Na my own main hope be that...

You know I have been proven right with most of my assertion while you have been proven wrong with most of yours

1. While we both agreed some of the players have been underperforming, I focused on Matic and my customer Hazard, You said it was Ivanovic, Fabregas and possibly Costa.

In the past 3 games it has been shown that Matic is one of the weakest link in the team. He still remains the only substitute to be removed this season and also was benched for 87mins last Saturday in Chelseas most comfortable win while his replacement Mikel- a man most fans said was the worst midfielder bossed the middle. Doing the basic job a midfielder was supposed to do.
Ivanovic has remained a stable part of the defence that have gone 2 games without conceding, Fabregas is now back to throwing Fabregas like passes and Costa is back to playing like a striker scoring in 2 games as many as he did in 13 games under Mourinho

2. I believe the slight turnaround was largely due to Hindick. I believe with Mourinho you would have lost at least 2 of the last 4 games. Claiming "was it not the same tactics that won last yr is short sighted", Coaches all over react to tactics and you have to keep evolving to stay on top. It was the same tactics, that won Klopp 2 Bundesliga, that made him finish 2nd twice. It was that same tactics that almost got him relegated before he left Dortmund. Another coach came and they have posted one of their best first half performance. It was the same tactics that almost won LvG the treble in 2010 that got him sacked 9months later by the same club and same players. Your tactics have to be updated regularly

3. I do not believe the Chelsea midfield is so bad that you were 16th on the table. I dont believe 15 teams have better players or better midfields than Chelsea. The same way why this time last season Dortmund was 18th on the table, I didnt believe their players were the worst in the league. They just needed a tweak in tactics and they would be fine.

4. Mourinho determination to make everyone an enemy was also one of the major reasons for the fall. The tactics are abrasive to outsiders and draining to the players. All the fighting the referees fighting the FA, fighting opposition coach plus media can only last so long
E fe paro ni o... E fe, E fe paro ni o...Skibbo! cheesy

But Ivanovic Fabregas and Costa were underperforming abi kini eyin so boda?

Ivanovic is still underperforming sef, only that there is no alternative RB available to challenge him.

Your argument that time was that the midfield , with Matic in particular was not protecting the defence, when statistics showed that Chelsea was conceding more chances down the right flank than any other team in the league.

Jose's rashness wasn't draining. The players weren't tired. They were in open conflict. The manager spoke publicly about rats in the team. One player allegedly claimed to prefer to lose instead of win for Jose. Another player threw a bib at his manager on TV.

I agree that tactics have to be tweaked and changed, but i would imagine that the kind of changes required to pull a team out of a relegation battle requires time to implement.

The team were already looking different less than 24 hours after Jose bit the bullet. That's why I felt confident enough to predict that we would start playing well again and dared anyone to quote me.

4-5 weeks is too quick for this kind of turnaround. Klopp and Remi Garde are coaches that came in after season start but are struggling to get it together. Allardyce too

But Huddink that didn't even use to remember go to team meetings with Netherlands and led them to a disastrous Euro 2016 qualification campaign, is suddenly this messiah, this amalgam of Cryuff, Midas, and Buddha, that could change things with immediate results?

I don't want to keep going on about this matter. My last post on this.

Let's have a little friendly debate.

You are right when you say that Chelsea's weak midfield was not the "single" cause of us slumping to 16th on the table. The midfield is a fundamental problem but not the root cause. You may or may not believe this (midfield being a problem) but that's beside the point.

What you consider the problem is what is always of concern to me. You believe the players stopped playing for Jose and that this is the root cause of the issue.

Would I be right by that conclusion?
Our positions on this issue have always been very similar to a certain point.

We both believe that Jose was central to the downturn in our clubs fortune. And we both believe that Midfield is 'A' problem but not 'THE' problem.

Where we differ is the reason 'WHY' Jose is central to our poor showing.

You say it's tactical, and that Jose shackled the team in his role as the Anti-football Deity that Tony Pulis can only aspire to be.

This is where I, and the facts, disagree with you. Like I keep reminding you, only 1 team in the league scored more than us last season, and we averaged 57% possession over the course of the season.

We dismantled teams in highscoring games, and our main striker was around the top of the goal scorers chart, our midfielder topped the assist chart, and our winger was voted player of the season. These facts are NOT consistent with an argument that Chelsea played a rigid shackled kind of footy.

Your next argument is that Jose's tantrums and abrasive behaviour rubbed the players and staff up the wrong way - (I agree with this) - which in turn created a negative atmosphere in the dressing room - (I also agree with this)- and so Jose had to go(This is where I disagree)

My principle is that the vast majority of working people have worked or still work under managers they don't necessarily like. That doesn't have to stop them from being professional though.

These boys literally stopped playing well because the don't like their manager, and the unique combination of being both staff and saleable assets, meant that it was easier to sack the manager than sack the players.

Coaches like Jose with the almost cast iron guarantee of delivering trophies are in short supply.

Look at Gary Neville and his struggles at Valencia(last nights game excluded). He is beginning to see the difference between a Touchscreen and the Touchline.

I feel we should have kept Jose for his pedigree, to send a message to the dissenting players, and to set an example for the future.

But e don happen. Wetin man go do? I can only get behind my team and continue to support them. But I will do so in the knowledge that once these boys don't like Hiddink's replacement, we will be back to square 1...

Funny how some folks now think nothing is wrong with our midfield 'cos we won convincingly today.

Seeing comments like "Thisame bad midfield won today" is quite baffling.

In which world is a pivot of Mikel and Fabregas gold?

We've got injury and suspension to thank for today's victory. It was obvious Palace in the absence of Bolasie, Wickham and Cabaye lacked firepower. We've got Pardew to thank for deciding not to overload the midfield which would have seen Cesc and Mikel getting genuinely tested in the middle of the park Finally, we've got Hiddink to thank for once again doing what he knows how best to do.

Today's victory doesn't and shouldn't rule out the obvious fact that we have a phucked midfield.
Nobody ever claimed that our midfield is the best. After all, I posted last summer how the Matic-Fabregas pivot was the most dribbled past pairing in the league...and we still won the flipping thing.

What I, in particular, will never accept that our midfield was the main cause of our terrible slump pre-Hiddink. I had to refuse and reject that assertion and the accompanying implication that we had the 16th best midfield in the EPL because that was a big fat lie...

Corelation does not equal Causation.

Or how do you explain the small fact that Matic, the mascot of the 'Midfield Enthusiasts' here was\is actually terrible in the first half of the season?

Do you honestly believe that the turnaround in our team's fortunes is due to Hiddink?

Jose got sacked on Friday and Gus started on Monday- Yet a team that couldn't buy a win previously beat Sunderland by 2 goals on Saturday.

Abi you think 4-5 weeks is enough to change almost 3 years of Jose's tactics?

See Costa that didn't know where the post was before now playing like a striker again.

Omo lets move on with the team and not deceive ourselves.

Even that serial German false prophet has slightly shifted his stance from 'Midfield is the problem' to 'Tactics was the problem'

From your response, it is obvious you have only worked for a small organisation, or one with very little structure...
...HR has nothing to do with lawsuits; the Legal and/or Contracts Department handles this
...HR may coordinate trainings in general but it does not handle Health and Safety Trainings, the HES department does
...HR does handle recruiting, infact it is one of their major functions, and for small organisations, their sole function.

To gain more understanding, read my response to the topic at the bottom of page 1 of this thread
Lool.

HR is the first response for legal matters for any organisation. It's when water don pass garri that the lawyers kick in.

I've worked with several multinational firms in my career in Business and IT.

I'm not talking about what HR is believed to do, I'm talking about what they actually do.

The modern business\strategy model requires HR to align first and foremost with business ideas for people management.

In other words, HR is there to protect the business. If you've truly worked in any big organisation, you'd understand what I'm talking about.

HR is the company hitman.

Lol. The recruitment and training that HR engages in is for what?
You still don't seem to get it despite being told by a prospective employer.

Everything HR does is geared towards minimising incoming lawsuits.

HR does health and safety training not because the department personally cares about your safety, but so that if anything goes wrong, the business can stand up in court or a tribunal and show proof that they trained you well and pass liability elsewhere...

HR 'recruiting' is just an opportunity for the company to claim that they are equal opportunity recruiters.

You can actually adapt STAR ...
Even your proposed answer to question 2 can be extended with a situational context to move it from a theoretical narrative to a relatable discussion that is based on the candidate's own experiences/ personal philosophy.

Also for question 1. When someone challenges your competence or ability to perform a role on the basis of your course of study, the real question is that do you have a practical understanding of the role and do you have what it takes to perform it well? Convince me. I would dimension the facets of the role/ function and provide details of my experiences and results in such areas.
You are right to an extent..
But question 2 did not require a STAR example as it was probing his personal outlook to life.

What it boiled down to was asking if the OP was honest. You don't claim to be honest and back it up with an example. If I were an employer, I would be wary of someone trying to convince me of a story that paints him as an honest man

Honesty is proved by actions on the job.

Seriously, people overthink their responses in an interview. It's supposed to be a conversation and not a game where you have to guess the right answer.

I would give my view on the topic and stop there.

I agree with you on structuring your answer in a descriptive way that substantiates your experience. When I interview people I look out for them to structure their answers to cover the STAR model and I often have to rephrase the questions to ensure that all are clearly answered. I am more impressed when the candidate naturally covers it in this structure without the nudging

S - situation/context
T - task
A - actions
R - results

http://www.quintcareers.com/star-interviewing/
STAR approach is only useful for framing answers to competency based questions, or when discussing deliverables at previous jobs.

I fail to see how he could used STAR approach to answer the 2 questions he outlined in his OP.

The way the OP should have answered the 2nd question is like this:

"What do I think about the statement 'The ends justify the means?'

Well, the statement itself arises from a book written a few centuries ago by Nicolo Machiavelli.

Machiavelli had written the book stemming from his experience in politics and realised that many rulers of old often faced dilemmas with serious consequences, and his statement serves to encourage decisiveness in an era when ethical considerations were often secondary concerns.

These days, organisations still encounter dilemmas in the very competitive and often ruthless business world, but the difference is that ethical behaviour is now a primary concern.

I believe that following due process is very important in this day an age, and I will very much look to do things by the book(where possible) because The End doesn't always justify the Means"

......
Jobs/VacanciesRe: My Interview Experience by Nihilist: 10:25am On Jan 01, 2016
Also, as a Political Science graduate, I'm quite disappointed that the OP didn't do much justice to the second question, despite it being the most famous paraphrased line from arguably the most famous treatise on politics of all time.

I just don't understand how that question could confuse you...

HR really isn't about managing people regardless of what you read in books, or at uni.

The real purpose of the HR department is to reduce or eliminate Employer Liabiity.

Quite frankly, HR only exists to try and prevent the Organisation from getting sued by it's Employees.

We suppose done ban you and Nateevs from this thread for that nonsense 2 year campaign for Torres cheesy

You mean to tell me Hazard is a better striker than Traore? If so, is he better than Loic Remy who he was preferred to? Dont worry, when Teixeira signs, you will see more of wingers playing upfront given the clubs financial investment in them.

Traore is a winger who has played upfront for half a season at Vitesse. Crowding him out of his primary position is due to poor planning. I have him down as the 4th or 5th AM and the 3rd striker.

In 1 or 2 years time, dont come telling us stories about how x and y manager forced out Traore after Emenalo has signed yet another big money winger to relegate him.

Quit acting funky. . . if Emenalo buys 6 players in his position for megabucks, who do you expect the manager to play?

Do you think Hiddink will be brave enough to bench new £30m signing Teixeira to give small boy Traore a shot?

In addition to Hazard, Willian, Oscar, Pedro and Kenedy?

Since JM left have Hiddink or Steve Holland given Traore one minute on the pitch?

Nah nigga, when a club purchases expensive assets, the manager has a duty not to impair the value of the asset by benching them. If an expensive £30m signing isnt playing or has his confidence eroded by the manager, the whole board will be on the managers back.

Poor squad composition is on Emenalo.
I thought Bertrand Traore was a striker.

This season Falcao has been injured, Remy injured/unavailable, and Costa out of form/suspended.

We've started 3 games in recent weeks without a recognised striker on the pitch.

Are you saying that Emenalo told Hiddink to protect Hazard's value and play him upfront in our last game instead of the GOOD striker on our bench?

Even as it became very obvious that a striker was desperately needed on the pitch?

Shebi Kennedy is also a striker? How come he has had far more gametime even in this poor season than Bertrand Traore? Did Emenalo decide that he must play too?

There's no need to concoct conspiracy theories when a perfectly reasonable explanation would do - If Traore was good enough, he would play.
