Ishilove:Me I know I liked you in a I-want-to-do-very-dirty-things-to-you way. Then I embarked on my campaign of self-change/improvement. |
AirborneLacer:There is definitely a case for fatigue to be made in February after the craziness of the Christmas period...NOT 5 games into the new season. These are guys that train for 2 hours a week and then play for 90 minutes on the weekend. It is far too early in the season for fatigue to be a factor. Everybody has spoken well, and I personally have seen some valid points from almost all posters that chimed in today.(Not counting Dopejemi the aba-made DJ) To me, it looks like we can distill all the points made today into 3 major problems: Fabregas, Ivanovic, and Jose. |
nateevs:noted. Anyway, I cannot agree with this whole fatigue excuse. No team in Europe played more games than Barca last season, then they went to US and Italy for preseason. And then to Russia for super cup. Meanwhile several of their key players also played in Copa America, some even playing in the final. They are top of the table with the EXACT SAME squad from last season. A Manyoo fan may come here and try to obfuscate facts, but the key fact is that Man City had a core group of 8 players that appeared in at least 30 matches for them last season...The exact same as Chelsea. i.e Man City/Chelsea played the same core group of players in the league for at least 3/4 of the season last term, yet one is in 1st place and the other is 17th.Mind you, Man City also went to Asia for preseason. Arsenal played more or less the same team almost into the ground last term, Sanchez in particular. Wenger even came out to say that he was worried that Sanchez was in the 'red zone' as far back as January/February. They went to the FA Cup final, and Sanchez went to Copa America. Yet we are 17th and they are 4th. This 'Fatigue' I notice has not stopped Hazard from scoring 2 goals in 2 games for Belgium during the international break. Or can we blame 'Fatigue' for copping 2 Red cards in 4 games? Can we blame fatigue for Costa's lack of form even though he didn't play so much last term relatively? Or can we blame fatigue for Zouma not being very good this season? 'Fatigue' does not explain why Ivanovic would turn his back on a goal bound shot from Naismith. And this is all after Chelsea players had an extra week's holiday in preseason too. |
homesteady:You lack comprehension. I wasn't even talking about Messi's loss of form....and I was saying that Xavi AND the board had to intervene... Never mind |
AllNaijaBlogger:You are the one who keeps quoting me. |
AllNaijaBlogger:The fact that you even keep tabs on what I do on this board indicates that you have nothing better to do with your time. I on the other hand have zero interest in what you do and when you do it. Good day. |
standd:Not to bad. I've been quite busy myself. After a long summer break, I'm back to the world of long work hours, 2 hour commutes, and the spectacular unreliability of England's rail system. Airbornelacer show thyself |
AllNaijaBlogger:I really don't know myself. I have better things to do than hobnobbing with the mumulectuals of Nairaland |
homesteady:If you lack comprehension, then please don't quote me. My emphasis here was on using a collaborative approach to remediate a poor run of form with Barcelona as an example The statement in the very next line already States that "it's not quite the same thing" |
standd:Where have you been since? |
2. Mou has implemented a slight change of tactics this season. Where last season. Where Costa would stay central and occupy the centre backs last season, this season sees him drifting out wide a lot. Also,I think 11 of Fab's 19 assists last season came from set-pieces. This season we have none from from Fab. During the Swansea game, the eagle-eyed would have noticed that Oscar was on set piece duty- Corners, Freekicks(including the one he scored) everything. This tells me that Fab's decline is so bad that Mou has already tried very early on to delegate his usual tasks to somebody else. Unfortunately Oscar then got injured, and Fab in the mantle of CFC's most creative player had to play. Mou has tried everything with Fab, push him up, drop him down..,it's not working. At least last season Fab was a defensive liability who created chances. This season he's just a defensive liability full stop That's why the Pogba purchase was seen as a necessity, not a Goal.com purchase as Dayo would say. Pogba was to provide the creativity from deep, whilst remaining an imposing presence in defence, so that the issue Fab could be properly addressed. How many midfielders today can offer, Infact almost guarantee what Pogba does....the answer is very few. And we were at a stage where gambling is not an option. Alas, that was not to be. 3. Confidence issues. We are now stuck in a vicious cycle where we need confidence to win a game, but we need to win a game to gain confidence. I remember Barca had a similar crisis last year when things were bad, Enrique benched Messi, and then Xavi and the Barca board intervened to work out a solution. It's not quite the same thing here, but a solution has to be found one way or another. Jose's obstinance in persisting with Ivanovic for one isn't helping. The boys need to sit down and re-evaluate and decide who needs a time out. There is no way Chelsea is worse than Everton, West Brom, Swansea etc. spending or no spending |
Thank you Dayo, You've spoken well. Again I refer you to Man City. Bar Sterling, they are playing the same 1st team squad as last season. Yet when in their last game of last season, they conceded seven shots on target, they've now conceded the same number of shots in total over the last five games. The same backline. Mangala and Kompany that were one of the most useless CB pairing in the league have now improved so much since May that 35 million pound Otamendi that was brought to improve the team can't even make the bench. So it's not a case of 'buying to improve' that was necessarily needed in City's case. Attacking wise, Silva and Sterling were out of last game, Aguero was taken out after 25 minutes. The guy that got the goal was Kelechi Iheanocho....not a 74 million pound striker....but Kelechi Iheanacho. That's another nail in the 'buy to improve argument' If you must be realistic, the reason why Madrid and Barca dominate so much in World Football is that they simply have the best players. It is that simple. No amount of players you buy for now will equal the output of Ronaldo or Messi. For all your talk about Bayern's scouting....you guys only have 1 UCL win in the last 10 years....same as Chelsea. So in absolute terms, you have not fared better in Europe even with your so called 'Better Scouting' Now what's the problem with Chelsea? I think it's 3 fold: 1. Teams have done their homework. My BiL plays pro Rugby for a team that just got promoted the the Aviva premiership. Despite their small size and the comparative lack of money in Rugby, his club employs two match analysts who film and analyse their opposition for weeks, edit the films into little clips, and send it to their iPads. Now imagine what EPL teams with their riches are doing. Why is every single team attacking our right flank? Chelsea have conceded more chances from the right flank than any other team in the league. In fact I think, we've conceded over 10 more than the team in second place. Teams have analysed CFC and seen that Ivanovic tollgate is the surest route to the box. |
PietroRico:I'm actually a Leicester City fan and have been pretty open about it . And the first football game I attended in the UK was Leceister v Newcastle in December 1999 at Filbert Street. Leceister lost 2-0 though. Shearer scored. So yes I will nail my colours to mast. Leicester are title contenders! |
Leyqute:I wasn't pained by you calling me blockhead....but I had to respond still. Apology accepted. I also tender my apologies |
airmark:I dont fight at all...I just promote I dey my own jeje when I was quoted out of the blue and called a blockhead...by a man like leyqute. ![]() And I've lived in Bariga and Abule-Egba....both are far worse than Peckham ![]() |
Leyqute:Man City have significantly strengthened this season by playing only one new player in the 4 league wins prior to this weekend.... I did not know kwashiokor also affected the brain... |
Leyqute:Jesus Christ. There is _Stupid, there is _Stupidty, and then there is Leyqute. You mean a difference of just FOUR games from LAST SEASON is the reason why Chelsea are 17th and City are 1st a whole FOUR MONTHS LATER? That must also explain why Mikel(15 League appearances last season) came on to flop in his single appearance this season. It also explains how Zouma(15 league appearances last season) is coming on to concede goals anyhow in his 5 appearances this season. That Hangover must also be affecting Costa(26 league appearances last season) so that he has forgotten how to score this year. Meanwhile Joe Hart that played 36 league games last season is yet to concede this season. Moreover the only reason Man City is above Chelsea this season is because they strengthened considerably... Get that into your thick skull, you blockhead. This is the most foolish thing I have read all year. The only new player to feature significantly for City prior to this weekend was Sterling. KDB only came off the bench yesterday because Aguero was injured. So what was the effect of the 'significant strengthening' in the previous 4 games? Are you naturally this f00lish, or is it the result of years of practice? The wretchedness of your father is to blame for your sad existence. The poor mofo couldn't afford a condom on the night he sodomized your mom.Actually...my existence is quite happy. I eat good, sleep good, fvck good, and live good ![]() Secondly, a woman can't actually get pregnant from an act of sodomy...though I get that you have to resort to tired lines and cliches. I can even predict your comeback. You will probably end up saying something like "You're the only child concieved through sodomy". It's cool. I get it. Now as a parent myself, I can not stoop so low as to insult your forbears. Infact, I sympathise with them. All the hopes, dreams and happiness they had when your mom announced her pregnancy were dashed the moment they entered the labour ward, and saw a bat-faced goblin staring back at them. In fact, I heard from an inside source that they tried to put you back inside, but the doctor had to talk them out of it....even though he also refused to sign your birth certificate. Dude you need to go to sleep and stop trying to associate with your betters. Death by disembowelment is a far more appealing proposition than the though of having a conversation with you. |
Leyqute:Chelsea had 8 players who made 30 or more league appearances last season Man City had 8 players who made 30 or more league appearances last season Chelsea were in the UCL up until round of 16 last season Man City were in the UCL up until round of 16 last season Chelsea were in the FA Cup up until the 4th round last season Man City were in the FA Cup up until the 4th round last season Man City have started the season with the same first 11 plus Sterling Chelsea have started the season with the same first 11 plus Pedro But Fatigue from a lack of rotation last season is the reason why Chelsea are 17th and Man City are 1st this season. I advise you to rent out your cranium...so that you can at least earn some money from all that empty space. In your opinion Chelsea had a good season last season..I'm not going to dispute that with you...The club won a league and cup double last season, and you think the idea that Chelsea had a good season is subjective? Did you drink the holy water that used in a deliverance session for a mad man? However I'll still maintain what I said earlier that if City had given Mou enough competition last season, Chelsea might not have won the league.Wow...thanks for that information that was not obvious to anyone before. The level of insight you bring to this board is literally unquantifiable. You are the closest thing I can think of to Anti-School. People attend school to gain knowledge. They only have to stand next to you to lose it. You should sit down and think deep and long, homo ere.ctus, maybe some day you'll evolve into a homo sapiens. On the surface you appear okay but deep down you're just a useless troglodyte. Teenage agbero. At least I can evolve. I'm very sure if your parents claim to have discovered the so called 'Missing Link', and present you as evidence, they would definitely win the Nobel Prize. |
Ibime:http://thestar.ie/sex-mad-chelsea-doc-eva-carneiro-ruined-my-life-blasts-furious-ex/ |
Ibime:Considering that Eva's ex has already come out to say the she was sleeping with one or two of the players...and that one of them(Ivanovic? ) used to ask her to come and give him sports massage and then meet her at the door to his suite 'In the Buff', there might be something to your theory... Is Barry that much better than Mikel though? Is Naismith that good a striker even? Handshake don pass elbow. Maybe Mou needs to get the number of Bale's Psychologist... |
StarBoard: ![]() Begovic is a good keeper. We should have lost like 6-1 yesterday. Touche still... |
Leyqute:I'm sure when you look in the mirror, there is no reflection there...You really are that dull. The problem with you is that you dispense such nuggets of eediocy on such a regular basis, it would be difficult for you to keep track of them all without a spreadsheet. Remember when you said this: Leyqute:That was when I took the time to educate you as best as I could, that actually, only 2 champions of Europe's top 5 leagues dropped less points than Chelsea last season, and Chelsea would have won the league or finished in the top 3 in all of Europe's top leagues with that same amount of points. Now you are going on about "Prophetic Statements". How many games have Chelsea played this season to be suffering the effects of fatigue? How can any reasonable human being look at Chelsea's bad start to the season and blame it on a lack of squad rotation only FIVE games into the season? Are you so bereft of self-esteem, that you must seize every opportunity to play the f00l in public? |
Leyqute:What you don't know is that It takes a lot to 'pain' me.... SailorXY's hilarious diss via meme is already my profile picture. I've got a cast iron chin, and I keep coming. Anyway, you need to stop quoting me to chat rubbish. *in Raumdeuter voice* I discriminate by intelligence |
I just saw Jose on TV blaming computer for the poor showing today... Apparently the tactics computer was not working this morning so we lost... You can't make this shyt up |
chic2pimp:SBW...but you know that All Blacks all day err day...but you know that.... This world cup will be tight though I think it could be a All Blacks v Australia/Ireland final. The WC is going a huge pain for my commute though...I have to travel to Fleet in Hampshire once a week, and my route through London is the main artery to Twickenham |
Leyqute:Stop quoting me to chat rubbish. Nobody said Mourinho did not need to strengthen to buy new players. You argued that Mourinho needed to buy players BECAUSE we dropped too many points last season, and that was what I disagreed with.... Now you're shouting strengthening as if you discovered fire. |
UniqueGem:Rich coming from the guy who quoted me to spew faux-vitriol <====Move There...and keep moving |
Keky:Yes my don. Matic still has more goals than Le Coq Sportif |
UniqueGem:Wind your neck in fam. You're just trying to score some cheap tribal points because there's nothing in my post that is even provocative Vexing like your name is Romero. Smh |
UniqueGem:Are you incapable of processing more than one idea at a time? Because I don't understand how you managed to link Hazard to a DDG vs Romero post.... |
Roland17:Na why I dey ask na? Thanks for clarifying |
raumdeuter: ![]() I used to play ball at New Garage roundabout when I was younger or just watch them play. I wonder if any of those guys from my childhood is in an U17 team in Europe now A guy I went to Uni with actually left in year 2 to try and make the Nigeria u17 team and even made the squad...but got caught out by bone scan |
