How will he do anything on the big boys pitch when he doesnt even get on the big boys pitch?

This season he has gotten

8mins in community shield
90mins in EFL cup and scored 1 goal

How is this different from the argument of guys claiming Lukaku didnt do anything with the 2mins injury time substitution he was getting under Mourinho
It's not actually. But his time on the pitch is limited for a reason.

When Timbros was saying Lukaku didn't do anything in 12 mins, I was pointing out his track record in EPL, Belgium, Yorupa and so on.

So it boils down to my original question, what has the boy done to justify running his mouth like he did. The answer is nothing. He has done nothing of note.

Not at Betis. Not at Chelsea. Not anywhere.

If the argument is 'try your luck', then we can agree.

But better than Willian? That's a pipe dream for now.

It can't be luck mate.

The manager saw reasons to give him that starting berth.

He wasn't under the influence of an enchantment, his decision was borne out of what he saw in the training ground.

I still dey wait to see the minutes Musonda has gotten this season.

I'll bet my balls that Charly hasn't spent up to 5 minutes in a league fixture this season.

The last time he got the nod to start a game for us, he found the net.

So which one be say, 'He has been giving opportunities yet he no shine'?

Are we looking at a possible brace within 1 minute on the pitch? PES 2018?
We've had a tough start to the league this year. There's not a single one our league fixtures so far where I would have even considered him starting.

He has had a chance against a mid table championship side and he scored. Good. Why not wait for your next chance before you start mouthing off? The likes of Batman, Drinkwater, Bakayoko and Zappacosta(Best 2 in the world) still dey hustle for shirt without public rants.

He's the one who prompted the whole comparison. If he's going to run his mouth, then we go gats ask am wetin he do with his talents like he lived in the new testament...

I'm not underestimating what Rashford did to get to his current state. Out of all the youths LvG gave a chance, only Rashford and maybe Lingard exceled.

But what I'm trying to point out is that Rashford was unknown before he got the chance, before he proved what a great player he is. Angel Gomes currently has more hype than Rashford when he's his age. United are fighting currently to keep him off the claws of Barca. That's what I'm pointing out.

Rashford got a chance when we had USELESS STRIKE FORCE. Rashford got more than one chances. If Rashford was in the era of young Rooney, Tevez and Co, after scoring against that lowly rated Midget Land abi wetin be their name, he'll back to the bench!! This is an undeniable fact.

Who did Rashford had to fight with during LvG's era? An aging Rooney? James Wilson? Keane? Just take a look at the wastemen LvG hinged his hope on after pursuing Falcao, Chicharito, Van Persie and Co. Our strike force was shitty. Martial was even moved to the wings. So once Rashford scored, he's our only other option after declining Rooney and he's good enough to take his chances. I respect his talent, but the condition he came into helped his course.
If you're good, you're good.

If Rashford was merely lucky to get a break, how come he's still in the first 11 now especially when he's competing with Martial, Lukaku, Mhkitaryan and Mata for a place in the front 4.

He wasn't Lucky to get his chance. He wasn't Lucky to score in every single debut from FA Cup, to EPL, to Europa to UCL, to England. He wasn't Lucky to keep his place despite competing with almost 300m of talent for a place in the starting line-up.

Nah luck had nothing to do with it. He may have been unknown to you, but he wasn't unknown to the coaches that suggested him to LVG. They don't just pick any fool from the academy and give him jersey and a seat on the team bus. That's not thr way it works.

It reminds of something Gary Lineker said. He said that many times he would score and the commentator would say "right place at the right time". Gary said nah nigga, I made that run a 100 times already in that game, I wasn't at the right place at the right time - it wasn't luck. I kept running to the right position because I knew sooner or later the chance would come...and I would take my chance.

You just didn't know his name, but trust me Rashford was ready for this. He's always been ready. And he for a talent like that, there is no way your time won't come...

The argument is strictly before they broke into the senior team..not what they have gone ahead to do after they broke into the senior team.
A lot of that has to do with what happens on the training pitch, and nobody here is really privy to that sort of information.

The only thing all of us can see for certain is what these boys do when the camera is rolling. Musonda may very well be dribbling 2-2 man on training pitch and scoring long shots from the car park.

But what has he done on the big boys pitch? Scored the only goal of his career against Nottingham forest...hardly a big deal.

He needs to do a lot more than that before he can claim he deserves Willians spot...

You're totally missing the point. You're grossly missing Diggz's point. What you listed is what Rashford had achieved AFTER he'd been given a chance REPEATEDLY to prove himself.

BEFORE Rashford blew up, there's no hype surrounding him, at least not that I or numerous United fans all over the world can think of. Angel Gomes had 100% more hype at his stage currently than Rashford ever had. Rashford was TOTALLY unknown before his success story.

Rashford's case is the kind of happening that comes out once in a blue moon. He didn't even go on loan like Tammy Abraham and achieved something before he blew up. He's extremely lucky and blessed to have stumbled upon such an opportunity. Injuries happened to our first team attackers, and even the likes of Wilson that LvG could've called up to replace Rooney weren't around and LvG OUT OF NO OTHER CHOICE turned to Rashford, not coz he's hyped high in our reserves. It's basically a case of no other choice and the rest is history.

You can't compare Musonda's case with Rashford. If Rashford was in the era of young Rooney, Tevez and Ororo, it'll take the highest form of talent and otumokpo for him to break through without going on loan. Breaking through in a top club is very hard to come by.

Rashford was lucky FIRSTLY, then he took his chances and never looked back. Musonda so far, hasn't gotten the repeated chances Rashford got, and I don't blame him for that. He's to be given chances like Rashford and if he flops then you can blame him. I don't blame Conte too, at a big club the coaches are at extreme pressure to win and not give chances to youth which could backfire.
Rashford scored in every single debut. You need to understand the gravity of what that boy did before you say he was given repeated chances.

He bagged a brace first debut. A few days later on his second debut he gave them another 2.

Now he's benching a 50m player.

This isn't somebody that was given repeated chances. He was given just 1. The rest he demanded.

Oga..should I send you my account details so you can credit me lunch money??

Stop that reserve talk rubbish bros! Thought I have made it clear I don't want to hear that nonsense talk again ?

while I am willing to agree with you that rashford have proven to be the better player since he broke into the senior team...he didn't have anything to show for.... that he wouldnt turn out to be another Federico macheda or Danny welbeck before he broke into the senior team.

And whatever the fvck you think rashford did to warrant him getting a chance in the senior team, musonda have done same or more, so stop trying to make it look like he was all special Bros.
Musonda has been given a chance in the first team this season, considering that we're still in all competitions, he will get plenty more.

The question we're looking at now is this:

Is Musonda actually better than Willian? If yes what's the evidence to back up this view point.

I get the feeling that boys are just so tired of Willian that they want to try somebody else there, in a try your luck style.

The issue of Rashford isn't a case of what he did at under 21 level. It's a matter of what he did at senior level. There were so many of them that LVG gave chances to - Rashford, Blankett abi wetin be him name, Mcnair, I think Lingard, borthwick etc.

Only one of them was able to seize the moment and show that he belong, scoring a brace in consecutive debuts, and then going on to score in every debut since.

Only 1 of those guys is in the 1st 11. The one that was able to grab his chance immediately.

Like Danhumphrey pointed out, nobody is debating Christensen's place in the team...not because of what he did in loan, but because of how he aquited himself in the minimal chance he got.

What has Musonda even shown? To Even annoy me further, the other foolish Musonda was shouting Ronaldo and Messi. Both of them at Charlie's age were already Balon Dor candidates.

If your talent is not shining like halogen on the pitch, then I'm not interested in your claims to be a youth don.

No offence, but you could have made your point/objection without adding the bolded. that's quite childish. you don't agree with his view, the calmly, maturely and in a civilised way, state your objection, rather than going emotional...

truth is, if you know him in real life, if you meet him face to face and find out his level in life, you might just hide your face in shame and sit down humble. utterances like the bolded is how some people tend to scare away potential helpers sent their way, people capable of helping you out in any capacity. they end up being scared away with such utterances.

yes, this is a faceless forum, but it's no excuse to throw caution to the wind and behave carelessly. always remember that the internet never forgets and some things you say or do could come back to haunt you, especially this thread where there are many professional archeologists waiting to dig out and expose your nyansh. Be always careful with your utterances online.

Now, I don't think Nihilist is totally "anti-youth". yes, it may seem like he doesn't like youth integration, but from what I've noticed about him is that he's more "pro-the-right-youth" and not just any youth, just because they are bearing the tag "youth". he wants the right youth in the team. how many times have you seen him questioning Andreas Christietens presence in the team?

if he's not convinced about a particular youth, no matter how you spin the narrative, he still won't bulge on his stance against that you player.

I honestly don't think he likes it supports the things Willian is serving Chelsea and he will definitely support a better player ahead of Willian, but that player has to prove that he's better and not just some average Joes, just because he's "youth".
Infact thank you very much. Salutations, Greetings, Hailings and many more.

Empirical evidence is what we use in a civil and healthy debate. Its because you have no facts to back your argument, that your regressed to an emotive state threatening to slap me, and I returned fire for fire. cheesy

This is my post on Willian versus Arsenal for example, so it's not as if I'm a Willian fan.
Nihilist:
I thought Morata was at least as bad as Willian today, if not worse.

That inability to hold up the ball, meant that our wingers had to either wait for throughballs from deep, or go deep to collect the ball, because Morata was not bringing anybody into play except on 2 occasions with his turn and pass.

Willian though was pure droppings, regardless of circumstance. Him and Moses were disgustingly bad today

Technically he's still playing. I think he offcially retires in December.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe Conte wants Pirlo help him teach the midfielders how to play 352. If he can teach Fab how to quarterback more efficiently from deep, that would be great. I dunno though. The man looks like he'd rather be debating the quality of old word wines versus new world...

What would Musonda have done vs City? This is a guy that has only scored 1 goal in his entire senior career. If you're going to be aggressive, at least let your aggression be based on logic.

How is Maradona better than Messi?

Even with cocaine and nicotine, than short left footed fellaini only contributed 35.7% of Argentina's goals at the world cup in 86

Messi with 10 wooden figures dragged their asses to the final, contributing 57.14% of Argentina's goals, with a knock from the previous game and very rough tackles in that Germany game..

No team had outplayed Germany prior to that final... Messi was the orchestrator, and he didn't need to be a crack addict to do it.. grin

Safe to say, If Argentina didn't have Maradona at the world cup in 86, they would've gotten to the final..
