but you can win without playing the big 4 in Spain, Italy, Germany, England. but by playing hungary, iceland, austria, croatia, wales. isn't this a million times more fraudulent than securing votes from seasoned footballing luminaries?
Awards are not trophies mate. You win trophies through your actions on the pitch, not by influencing someone's opinions.

If I recall sef, many people on this thread disagreed with that Messi award. I seem to remember somebody saying this:

ddippset:
- if it was up to me i'd give the golden ball to thomas muller.
Awards are popularity contests and can be debated. Nobody can debate a trophy. Nobody can say if it was up to them, they would give France the Euro trophy.

There's a reason Messi ran out retirement when he heard Ororo went to France in a black Benz and zoomed out in a white one... grin

okay ignore the under 20 and the olympics. (as if messi was overaged when he won them). even though cristina played under 15. under 17. under 20. without winning a spoon. he only became a footballer when he started gyming and working out. the greatest individual trophy in international football is the world cup golden ball. the world cup golden ball is greater than a miserly euro 2016 medal. let me know when cristina wins the best player at a world cup.
World cup golden ball is an award based on votes and politics for best player at a tournanment.

Ororo doesn't need to be voted the best player at a tournament - he's been voted best player in the world multiple times.

Euro is an international trophy. You can't win those by votes mate.

yeah i am quite sure messi would love to be pedro right now because he has won the world cup. no no no, maybe he would love to be alexis sanchez right now because he has won the copa america. come off it son, so many players today have won the world cup but are not even fit to kiss messi's boots.
None of those guys has won Balon dor.

That's why he felt it was safe to retire

And then his only Balon dor rival went and copped that international trophy.

Messi heard the news and came out of retirement faster than the velocity of his Copa America final penalty...

Now Messi is looking at Pedro and wishes he had just jejely declared for Spain when he had his chance. grin

So what's jumping to conclusion in what I said. If you read the link with that post you'd see I was bringing out what was said there. When you read it you'll understand what I'm driving at.
I think you're the one trying to make a non-existent argument.

It's not the name of the perpetrator that causes people to label a crime a hate crime. It's the motive.

You can see that the Las Vegas police have announced that they haven't yet discovered a motive, so the crime has only been labelled a mass shooting, not a terrorist attack.

Yusuff Mofeshaiyelo is an armed robber. He is also a muslim. When he commits robbery, his motive is to get money to spend on bïtches. We don't tag it an Islamic attack because his motive was not to kill in the name of Allah.

If however Yussuf went and started shooting people, while shouting allahu akbar, or in the name of the prophet...then that's a different story.

Pls keep willians name out of it...that one no be footballer. I wanted to include fab in my earlier post but chose not to.

I can remember you saying you didn't watch the match on Saturday dunno if you have been able to see the entire game? If yoko was half as decent as fab or kante on the ball trust me....we could have easily gotten a draw from that game. The few times he ventured forward dude kept on getting caught by offside trap. It was as if he left his brains at home or something dunno....but yoko? Smh!
I've watched the game now.

This was a tactical game. You need to look at the tactics.

To put in perspective for you. John Stones, Fabian Delph, Kyle Walker and Otamendi all made more passes than KDB, Silva, Sane, Gabriel Jesus , Fernandunho and Sterling.

Emerson their keeper, made more passes than Leroy Sane, who only even managed one shot the entire game. I shot.

Gabriel Jesus managed only 2 shots in 90 minutes, and one of those was the free gift from Rudiger.

Why is that?

Because the midfield was too choked. Super choked.

There was no real space for the midfield on either side to create anything worthwhile. Hence both teams were recycling possession at the back.

Go and check who completed the most passes on either side, and you will see in both cases it was the defenders.

Our game plan was to choke midfield and then fire long balls to Morata and it almost worked until gods of injury came for first touch.

How did you manage to ignore the part he highlighted? The issue with Yoko's game against city wasn't the defensive side of it. It was what he did after retrieving the ball that was the issue. Dude was partially responsible for the amount of pressure we faced bcuz he couldn't do anything useful with the ball.
What did Kante do? What did Fabregas do? Willian? Hazard?

What did they offer going forward?

In numerical order from today's winners and losers list on www.football365.com

LOSERS:

Number 3: chelsea?

Number 4: Tiemoue Bakayoko:...Got through a fair bit of defensive work
Thank God you mentioned the defensive work. Context is the key to everything.

Conte set up his team to first and foremost not get beat, and in that regard he succeeded.

The rugged midfield screening and nice defending meant that City simply did not get many chances to score.

To further contextualize this point, Opta define a Big Chance as "A situation where a player should reasonably be expected to score usually in a one-on-one scenario or from very close range."

Chelsea managed to create only 2 big chances versus city this weekend.

City also managed to create the same number of big chances.

Just the 2.

So for all the talk of being out classed, there were only 2 times in that game where City actually had a reasonable expectation to score. They didn't even score the chances sef, and had to resort to long shots from Gabon. Bakayoko did his defensive job well.

I suspect City actually had better chances in the games last season. I'm on my phone now. When I get home, we will dissect this from laptop.

I wanted to ask. Was there really an improvement in City game or just they got lucky vs last season?

I am thinking back to the game Chelsea won them 3-1. There were multiple opportunities for City to have smacked Chelsea big time that day but they missed the chances, Chelsea had 3 counter attacks against the run of play and scored on all 3.

Was there really a tactical masterclass difference from last season or just a rub of green. KdB shoots that ball over or Chelsea score from a Cahill corner we would be having a different discussion or what do you think
Having watched the game, I think we actually played better than last season until that Morata injury.

That injury and that stüpid sub scattered the whole thing.

The midfield was solid up until that point, but the loss of Morata meant the loss of our outballs from deep, and from there it was a losing battle as we were forced to deep mostly because Hazard cannot hold the ball up. He's a skilful midget not a centre forward.

Football is a game of fine margins. Another day and Morata nods that ball in from his boyfriend in the opening 5 minutes, and we're set to profit from the counter attack when they rush forward looking for the equaliser

As it happens first touch spurned that chance, and then copped the injury. Conte uncharacteristically then spoilt the game.

I still think we coped admirably with them given the circumstances. I was looking at the stats and our midfield did really well.

Man city didn't create too many dangerous chances, and even their goal scorer did not manage to touch the ball once in our penalty box.

We were undone by a brilliant goal from a brilliant player, but it really was a long shot from Gabon. If they have to start firing long range rockets to try and score, then it wasn't as much as a tactical masterclass as the media claim it was.

Conte set out to park the bus with a rugged defence, and on that count, his tactics worked. But great players like KDB are paid the big bucks to be game changers...ajd that's what we saw on Saturday in my opinion.

The Vegas shooter was found with multiple rifles.

Multiple rifles ffs.

He was shooting guns that were able to hit targets from his room on the 35th fücking floor.

Why the hell are civilians able to buy guns that are clearly only for army or police use?

Dayo another day another bloodbath for you people. When are you going to do the right thing and ban these sticks?
