Since Dagrin of blessed memories left the scene, various calibres of artistes have rose to deliver constantly what they believe they are good at and among them are the likes of YBNL boss, Olamide and Rapper Reminisce.

Inasmuch as some individuals especially fans of the BADDO won’t want him compared with Reminisce due to his achievements in the industry so far, the fact that this is an industry where overtaking is quick to behold gives Reminisce the chance.

Comparing Olamide with Reminisce is just like comparing achievements with a well-built career. Over the years, Olamide have indeed dominated the music scene with his hit rap styles while on the other Reminisce was delivering his cool styles hoping for the best with every released single.

Now it is judgemental time and the industry is fast closing in on the likes of Olamide while on the other hand, people are beginning to recognize Reminisce cool efforts so far.

Both are indigenous rappers meaning most of their lyrical composition are written/sang with the indigenous Yoruba dialect but one is now considered a noise maker and the other, now a cool rapper. This can even be further confirmed from CHINKO EKUN, who said he featured Reminisce instead of Olamide on his most recent song BODIJA because he wanted something cool on his concept which only Reminisce can offer.

Now let’s leave it up to you to answer, is Reminisce overtaking or has he overtaken Olamide to be the best indigenous Yoruba rapper.

One of the big names in the Nigerian industry to reckon with is definitely Kiss Daniel. Infact, Daniel is somebody I respect so much because to me, he is not just an hardworking artiste but one that have proven to be lyrically sensible in putting up his piece together. He is one that have continuously dished out hits after hits and just as I will usually tell my colleagues “Show me a kiss Daniel song that was not a hit and I will show you, you lack good musical judgement“.

From Woju to Laye to Sofa to 4Dayz to No Do(Peperipe) and the list continues endlessly with Kiss Daniel’s mega hits, little wonder why a young artiste such as him could acquire all that he had acquired lately.

How Kiss Daniel suddenly rose to fame and all that accompanies it and became a household name is still a surprise to me. It shows a man with hardworking capabilities merged with commitment and backed up by a great supportive team.His then G-Worldwide record label must have played a very significant role consisting of a well-thought plan that even restricted Kiss from featuring other artistes in his song, an act he confessed to have truly worked for him.

And with everything going well with the Yeba crooner, suddenly from nowhere came the internal issues between him and the G-Worldwide management which later led to a court case and to sum it up, Kiss Daniel finally left G-Worldwide and established his very own Flyboy INC.

Days ago, Tekno released the much anticipated visuals for his most recent song titled Jogodo and as expected the feeling of wanting to click the stream video button was high knowing how talented the slim daddy can be but unfortunately what I got was just out of this world as I was very well dissapointed in the Clarence Peter directed video.

As I stream through every single second of the video even till the end, what kept running through my mind was “is this tekno for real”, “is this the video for a song Tekno have worked so hard on and have successfully planted in the mind of music lovers” and “was this video really directed by Clarence Peter” and even more thought to the shock I received as I stream through this very wack video.

Indeed Jogodo by Tekno is a song that have really been receiving massive airplay all across the country and even though it is a copycat of one of Nigerians hit songs back in the days and that’s Polongo by Danfo drivers, Tekno’s efforts in resonating the vibe must be commended. With a well thought out and formulated lyrical composition like,

“Don’t leave me, I nor go leave you o girl o
Oh my God o
If you give me love, I give you mother o
Oh my God o
If you want me girl, I want you o
Oh my baby o
What you do, I do to you o
(Highlight)

Tekno was no longer far from delivering the next Industry’s big hit. All that was just needed was a great musical video that can be streamed on national televisions, mobile devices, and YouTube but all he did was something unexplainable to me.

The video started with an introduction that was not even in line with either him or the song, then moved into a storyline that was not even in line with the song and then the wackful dance steps that weren’t even in accordance with each performer as Tekno can be seen dancing to the right while the rest are divided among themselves either dancing to the left or any other direction… All this and even more other faults in the video made me to pause the video for a later viewing.

Editing on the other hand was a problem. Poor editing and presentation styles and this even made me to wonder if Clarence shot this. The editing pattern made the video to look like everyone was doing their own thing. For example the song is saying one thing and Tekno is singing another while his choreographers dances to another beat or even song.

Like seriously, do Tekno still needs to watch Danfo drivers Polongo in order to get the video right. Anyways the video is out and it is the current rave of the moment but this review was written to voice out how it feels watching something below expectation and a call for Tekno to step up his game.

Let me drop my pen here and hope the Alhaji Tekno do the needful next time.
