Hypocrites are everywhere. Your fanatically media of hate branded herdsmen bandit, like in Zamfara where their main victim were hausas and Muslims it will not make sense to their religious bigoted readers that the same Herdsman they claim are about stealing Christian lands and also about stealing Muslim lands, so to save their obvious false news they created the bandit identity to make their puzzling situation seems ok.
I don't do insanity, wait for the gathering of bigots and prejudiced fools to share this insanity report.

No! It is your fanatical Fulani rulers like Buhari and El-Rufai who rebranded them Bandits so as to hide the fact that the Fulanis are the ones killing their servants the Hausas. But thankfully the Hausas and every other ethic nationality are finally realizing the evil intentions and territorial aspirations of the Fulanis

CrimeThe North Must Hold A Meeting by Nik77(op): 9:43am On Jan 30, 2020
I dont know what the Sultan and emirs are waiting for?

An arewa agenda should focus on how to rescue the region from boko haram and rampant banditry.

It's obvious the military cannot stamp out the insurgency completely.

The religious and political leaders in the north must lock themselves up in a room until they find a fresh idea on how to solve the problem of insecurity in the north.

The Emirs should be weeping.

The region is retrogressing. Exporting okada riders to Lagos will solve nothing.

The region that Ahmadu Bello and Tafawa Balewa built is collapsing.

Their politicians can play ostrich and concentrate on 2023. They are sitting on a time bomb.

The truth is that the north is teetering, wobbling.

Agrucultural output has been hampered by rampant banditry . Whole swathes of farmlands around Kaduna Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto have been abandoned.

School enrolment figures of the region are still an embarrassment to the African continent.

The north needs an emergency village meeting.

Things like Amotekun should be the least of their problem.

The problem of the north is burgeoning illiteracy, crazy youth joblessness, exploding population and most of all, pandemic insecurity.

The northeast is in literal shambles. Millions have made IDP camps their Ancestral homes. And the insurgency that rears its head like a scare crow and undermines efforts to relocate displaced persons.

For how long can this situation endure?

You can have a chat with doctors who have done NYSC in rural areas in the far north.

They were forced into extensive surgeries they had never tried before by abject circumstances in the north.

And their governors and big men all live in Abuja, Kaduna and Lagos.

Some states in the north are now happy to share sovereignty with bandits.

Tufiakwa!

The north needs an indigenous solution to its problems. But time is running out.

CrimeAnd Forcefully Converted To Islam In Northern Nigeria by Nik77(op): 10:08pm On Jan 25, 2020
How and Why Christian Girls are Lured, Abducted and Forcefully Converted to Islam in Northern Nigeria

A SPECIAL WARNING TO THE ENTIRE CHRISTIANS LIVING IN NORTHERN NIGERIA.

(This Message must be taken very seriously by every Church Leader, Christian and any responsible man or woman that wishes to live in safety in Northern Nigeria)

A Special Publication of the Hausa Christians Foundation (HACFO) on 3rd August, 2018

We write this news with a grieved heart and utter disappointment at the situation of things especially that of the right and privileges of the Christians in Northern Nigeria, but still hopeful to God for the end of these abnormalities in the shortest possible time.

It has become expedient for us as God’s Steward in Northern Nigeria and the Hausa Land in particular to alert the Christian Communities in Nigeria especially those living in Northern Nigeria on the current as well as the impending danger targeted toward our Christian Girls and even the Married Women. This message has no intension whatsoever of accusing anyone or looking at Islam as a bad religion, but it is meant to expose the evils done to the Christians in the name of Islam. We know and acknowledge the fact that there are good Muslims and that not all Muslims engage or support these atrocities especially what we are revealing today. From the response we get every day, we do realize that there are some Muslims who claimed to be ignorant of these ungodly acts done on the Christians in Northern Nigeria, but these evils are happening in all the Northern States of this Country. The Christians have been suffering these for more than 40 years in Nigeria, and instead of reducing, it is escalating every day. It has therefore, become so important to us at the Hausa Christians Foundation to enlighten our Brethren and the world in general about it because many people are still falling victims unknowingly.

We consider the following testimonies of the 9 girls the Hausa Christians Foundation has rescued from June 2017 to July 2018 to be a caution to all the Christians in Nigeria. These rescued girls are not only Hausa Christians, but among them also are Igala, Bajju, Igbo, and Kurama. That is to say that it is a concern for every Christian. More than 15 cases were reported to us in one year from Kano State, Kaduna State, Zamfara State, Katsina State, Niger State and Adamawa State. In other words, these cases of abduction of Christian Girls is a common phenomenon in all the Northern States of Nigeria. Below is the sequence of which Christian Girls are abducted, forcefully Islamized and married off without the consent of their biological parents:

1. Many Muslim youth always come to our Christian girls on a mission. They start casually, normal greetings, jokes, acts of kindness, buying gifts and things for them. At this stage, no one will suspect anything, but the person on the mission knows what he is doing. These people sent on this mission get sponsors from mosques or individuals. When they get the gifts or the items they subject them to all forms of charms and incantations. At this point the girl becomes more relax and thinks that all is well.

2. Any contact the girl will make with these items is an exchange of her life and consent to the man, the more she receives these gifts, the more they get her.

3. They ensure that the parents of the girl are completely out of the picture until they have total control of her mind and spirit. Sometimes, you hear them calling these girls “my wife” and they’ll be playing and joking with each other even in the presence of mostly the mother. The more takes it casual, but something much more than that is going on behind the scene.

4. The moment they took hold of her mind, she does everything they ask her to do, the next thing is to kidnap her and detain her for some days where they will perfect their enchantment, convert her to Islam, get married to her with the support of the Muslim clerics and then send for her parents to tell them about their daughter's conversion.

5. At this point the parents are usually full of surprised and begin to recall all the strange things that they have been observing before their daughter was abducted. While the parents fight for the release of their daughter these abductors continue to have sex with her, hypnotized her food, drinks, clothes, where she sleeps, perpetually evoke evil spirit upon her to the point that she is no longer herself. (Usually, the moment a Christian girl is abducted they ensure that they get married to her within one or two weeks. She will be sexually abused even before the marriage to make the parents give up on her when she becomes pregnant).

6. At this point she can deny her parents and will be able to do anything they ask her to do. Some of the girls will even threaten to kill their parents if the parents insist that they must return back to them. But they do all these not in their right senses.

7. If by any means they will release her, it will be when they are sure she won't be of any use to the parents and even at that they will go after the girl to kill her or kidnap her again.

8. From the testimonies of these rescued girls, we uncovered underground plans of sponsorship and rewarding of any Muslim man that successfully lured abducted, Islamized and married any Christian girl. The men that engage in these acts don’t need to have money to marry and maintain these kidnapped Christian girls as wives. A special contribution of money, food items and other items will be made for them.

9. The men will be celebrated and regarded as heroes. At this point, when the parents of the girls will insist on rescuing their daughters, they won’t have access to the real persons that abducted and sleep with their daughters, instead the Islamic leaders and the village heads and even the district heads of that community will rally around them and give them protection. Before they know it, signal will be sent to the Local government authority and the Division Police Headquarters of the area, and that is how the entire authorities of the area will join the Muslims to protect these kidnappers and eventually frustrate the parents of these girls.

10. None of the abductors of these nine girls was brought to book, because the authorities that ought to do so are the same people supporting and protecting them. In most cases these abductors together with their Islamic leaders will be threatening a riot or attacks on the girls’ families if the abducted girls are given back to their families. And the LGA and Securities will capitalize on that not to release the girls to avoid riot while the parents of the girls continue to languish in pain.

11. These are the common strategies used to kidnap, Islamize, marry and abuse our Christian girls in Northern Nigeria. There are however some exceptions, whereby some of the girls are just kidnapped, detained and abused.

The aftermath of the release of Zainab Bulus, the most recently rescued kidnapped Hausa Christian Girl from Kugawa, Kubau LGA of Kaduna State is a one that kept us dumbfounded till date. The Local Government Authority and security personnel refused to ensure to her release for more than five months. When we eventually secured her release by the help of the Kaduna State Police Command and the National Human Rights Commission, the same Kubau LGA authority summoned Zainab’s Parents to a security council meeting. Instead of consoling these parents whose fundamental human rights were infringed upon, they were instead threatened to return Zainab back to her abductor who is also her alleged husband. Imagine the LGA authority telling Zainab’s parents to bring Zainab a 16 year old to them and let her decide whether she will be with her parents or remain with her abductor as a wife and a Muslim. The parents continued to suffer such threats of been jailed for disobeying the LGA authority until they eventually took her to them. Thinking their charm is still working on her, they asked her whether she will be a Christian or a Muslim, to their utter shame, she said she is a Christian and will remain a Christian. That was how God intervened in perfecting the freedom of Zainab Bulus.

It is interesting to note that Sale Idi Magami, Zainab’s abductor, is a married man with two children who cannot even take good care of them, but because of the rewards he stood to gain he decided to commit such an atrocity. He did it as a jihad on the infidels for the propagation of Islam, lured, kidnapped, Islamized, married and impregnated Zainab Bulus, a Hausa Christian Girl and instead of being punished, he is paraded as an Islamic hero who is not only enjoying the protection of the Muslim community but even the Local Government Authority of Kubau.

Many Christians wonder why the Muslims keep attacking and somewhat attracted to the Christian Girls, the ones they regard as infidels. One would have thought that a clean or holy person will be running away from what he or she calls unclean. Unfortunately that is not the case. The bible clearly says that "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it? (Jeremiah 17:9). While Jesus is working in the hearts of as many as believe in Him to give them a new heart of love, mercy, compassion and kindness, the Allah of Islam is busy nurturing such wickedness in the lives of all the Muslims all over the world. Instead of healing them he is using them to cause more harm on as many that are not Muslims. Islam has become the platform that nurtures all manners of evils; as long as it is done in the name of Islam, it is a good thing. That is why killing of those that are Christians is a thing of pride, raping our girls and kidnapping them even though they are seen as unclean or infidels will give you a special place in their paradise. Islam has a hidden agenda to rain down brimstone on the Christians until they become Muslims. Nothing devastates a Muslim like seeing a Christian happy, living in peace and progressing. And so, they have resolved to wreak havoc on all Christians to make the Christians uncomfortable because they believe by so doing the Christians will give up and accept Islam. Islam has never been accepted by the true will of the converts.

The incessant kidnapping of the Christian girls and the forceful conversion to Islam is another form of Jihad in the 21st Century. They have two major aims for doing that: To inflict pain on the parents of the girl and the Christian community; and to impregnate the girl to add to their claims that Islam is the fasted growing religion in the world. They are doing it on purpose. They know that the tendency to succeed on the men is very low. That is why they resort to attacking, the ill-informed younger women to reproduce with them. We wonder how the infidels will be used to advance such a holy and clean religion like Islam. Holy people supposed to do holy things with holy people only. But we know what the religion is all about. Everything is welcome no matter how evil and inhumane, as long as it will help Allah. Especially the killings, the attacking, kidnapping, raping and enslaving of Christians. It is high time to understand and accept this truth: "EVERY MUSLIM IS A JIHADIST". It doesn't matter how close and friendly he or she is to you. If he doesn't harm you directly, he will harm you indirectly by opening doors for others to come in. The greatest ambition of every Muslim is to make every Christian a slave and force him or her to pay them high taxes (Koran 9:29).

It gladdens our heart that Zainab is fast recovering although certain things will take time, but God is graciously and faithfully doing it.

While we are still working for the freedom of Jennifer Yohanna a 15 year old Christian Girl from Pambegua, Kubau LGA of Kaduna State, we enjoin all the Nigerian Christians especially those residing in Northern Nigeria to be vigilant, sensitive and educate all their ladies and women alike about the grand plan of unleashing terror on them.

It is easier to prevent such a thing from occurring than to go after any girl to rescue her. The harm done on our girls by these Islamists is beyond words and we cannot afford to continue to suffer such harms any more. While we continue to live in peace and love for one another, we must never continue to be ignorant of the environment in which we find ourselves. We must live wisely and time conscious.

May God bless Us and continue to deliver us from all forms of evil in Jesus Mighty Name.

JESUS IS LORD!

CrimeIncreasing Boko Haram attacks on highways threaten to cut Borno off from Nigeria by Nik77(op): 1:35pm On Jan 23, 2020
SPECIAL REPORT: Increasing Boko Haram attacks on highways threaten to cut Borno off from Nigeria

Fear is now mounting that Borno State may soon be totally cut off from the rest of Nigeria as Boko Haram insurgents in the past few weeks have launched daily attacks on the Kano-Maiduguri highway, the only remaining safe route to the state.

Six highways link Maiduguri, the state capital, with other parts of Nigeria. But for the past six years, only the Kano-Maiduguri highway that connects the state with Damaturu, the Yobe state capital, remains in use.

Between 2013 and late 2014, the insurgents bombed major bridges on four of the highways, rendering the roads inaccessible. They also seized many communities along the highways.

Today, to travel from Maiduguri to Biu, about 180 kilometres in the southern part of the state, commuters now go through Yobe, Bauchi and Gombe states, covering a distance of about 560km.

People travelling to Gwoza, a town 127km south of Maiduguri, also have to make even a longer detour through Adamawa State.

It is even worse for communities in northern Borno. Before the insurgents finally took over the roads leading to Gamboru up to Chad Republic, and the one leading to Mobbar through Gubio up to Niger Republic, travellers, especially fish and hides merchants, made a 360-degree Caravan trip around the Niger Republic through Yobe state before getting back to Maiduguri.

In December 2018, the military reopened most of the roads after “reclaiming” them from Boko Haram.

But it still required heavily armed soldiers to escort long convoys of vehicles to ply the routes. Despite that, travellers and their military escorts suffered a series of fatal ambushes by Boko Haram gunmen.

Today, the “reopened roads” have been abandoned as it has become suicidal to ply them.

Everyone fell back to the only relatively safe road – the Maiduguri-Kano highway – that is known as the “Golden Gate” in the military security circle.

Guarding the Gate

The Maiduguri-Kano highway is guarded by the combined forces of the military, police SARS and Civilian-JTF.

The route did not witness any serious attacks since 2013 when Benisheik, the headquarters of Kaga local government, which is also the main town along the Kano-Maiduguri highway, was badly attacked by Boko Haram which resulted in the death of dozens of villagers and travellers.

Of course, villages like Mainok, Jakana, Ngamdu and Kukareta suffered pockets of attacks between 2014 and 2019. At a point Mainok, a village 10km away from Benisbek, was sacked by Boko Haram; but it was not occupied.

Travellers could then still pass through the village. But the villagers later, on their own, returned to their homes in 2018, signifying how relatively safe the Kano-Maiduguri highway had been.

At Benishek is the only bridge on the 135km distance road between Damaturu, Yobe state capital, and Maiduguri on the Kano-Maiduguri highway. The bridge is guarded by the military round the clock, frustrating many attempts by the insurgents to bomb it.

Since 2012 when the insurgency erupted in full, the bridge remains the only reason why the entire Borno state can be accessed.

The bridge enables goods and services, including deployed military asset and commercial commodities, to get in and out of Maiduguri.

About 90 per cent of the over three million residents of Maiduguri city, who cannot afford air tickets, ply the road.

The attacks

On the eve of Christmas 2018, Boko Haram staged a deadly ambush near a military checkpoint in Kukareta village of Yobe state, killing 13 soldiers and a police officer. That incident marked the beginning of attacks on the Kano- Maiduguri highway.

On January 7, 2019, Boko Haram launched one of its first major attacks on a military facility in Auno village, killing at least three persons. Auno is about 23 km West of Maiduguri.

Sources in the village said the insurgents had on Friday, January 4, warned the residents to vacate their homes as they would be attacking Jakana, a town 22km away. The warning was not taken seriously.

On July 17, 2019, members of the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) faction of the Boko Haram staged an ambush on a military patrol vehicle near Jakana town, killing all the six soldiers, including a colonel, that was on board. That incident signalled the beginning of the escalation of attacks on Borno’s Golden Gate.

In reaction to that embarrassing assault, and in response to the intelligence at its disposal, the military ordered a total evacuation of Jakana to allow soldiers to search the “general area” for Boko Haram fighters. The exercise resulted in the blockage of the busy highway and generated wild reactions from members of the public who condemned the military for abuse of rights.

After weeks of search, the military bowed to pressure and allowed the residents to return to their homes.

The military explained that they had intelligence report that Jakana and nearby villages, especially Mainok, were harbouring Boko Haram fighters.

Weeks later on July 30, 2019, the ISWAP fighters attempted a major attack on Benishek, the seat of Borno’s Golden Bridge, but were swiftly repelled by the Nigeria Air Force jets.

Violence subsided on the highway from August until December 9, 2019, when the insurgents appeared on the Kano-Maiduguri highway, all dressed in full military regalia and driving patrol vehicles painted in desert camouflage colour. The insurgents who stationed their vehicles at a spot near Jakana stopped travellers in a Toyota Hiace 18-sitter bus, pretending to be soldiers. After asking for their identification cards, two soldiers and a police officer were isolated and killed. The insurgents shared a gory video of the execution, which the military claimed was fake. It was later gathered that other passengers – 11 Christians taken away by the insurgents, were later killed.

On December 19, 2019, the Theatre Commander Operation Lafiya Dole, Mr Adeniyi, a major-general, had in a chat with journalists after a function at the Maimalari Barracks urged the media not to keep quiet about these villages – “Jakana and Auno” because there are lots of Boko Haram sympathisers there. He insisted that the military alone cannot do it.

Days later, sources around Jakana and Auno villages said Boko Haram had threatened to resume massive attacks around the villages as well as Kukareta and Benishek.

“Their aim was to take over the Damaturi-Maiduguri road,” said a source who begged not to be named.

The source said intercepted Whatsapp communications amongst the insurgents indicated that they had mobilised massively to sustain daily attacks on the highway.

It was not clear if the military also had this piece of intelligence.

While residents of Maiduguri celebrated the yuletide in fear for motorists plying the increasingly dangerous highway, the insurgents did not attack until January 4 when ISWAP fighters driving in six gun trucks stormed Jakana and attacked a military base there.

The insurgents, who were targeting mainly soldiers, forced the troops on the ground to retreat even as they killed four soldiers and injured 11 others. But ISWAP had, in a website popular for reporting ISIS news, claimed 30 soldiers were killed in the Jakana attack.

The attack on Jakana forced the military to return to its search operation around the communities of Auno, Jakana and Mainok villages.

The exercise which involved blockade of the highway caused serious concern for motorists who continued to queue up in the bush. The situation later degenerated to some form of confrontation between the military and the Borno state governor over the alleged plan by soldiers to evacuate the entire residents of Jakana and Mainok to an IDP camp in Maiduguri

Governor Babagana Zulum had to rush to Mainok and Jakana on July 7, 2020, to stop the evacuation of the residents.

The previous day, Mr Adeniyi had escaped a deadly ambush by ISWAP fighters who riddled his vehicle with bullets. It was said that his driver got hit by a bullet.

For that reason, the military decided that evacuating Jakana and Mainok towns was imperative. But the governor did not share that operational view.

To him, the decision was rather rash and was not consistent with procedures of moving people to IDP camp.

Above all, Governor Zulum had argued that evacuation the villages was as good as shutting down and militarising the Maidugiri-Kano road, which is the state’s only link to Borno.

On January 9, at about 3.35 p.m, the insurgents staged yet another ambush on travellers on the outskirts of Auno, 23km away from Maiduguri. They stopped a Volkswagen salon car and an 18-seater bus and took seven of the travellers away.

The next day, the state government issued 70 brand new Toyota Hilux vans to a joint security committee for the patrol of the highways.

Though the donation of these security patrol vehicles was greeted with excitement in Borno, the insurgents had continued to attack the highway almost on a daily basis.

Between January 13 and 16, the insurgents had carried out several attacks and abduction of travellers, including eight students of the University of Maiduguri. One of the students who was later released said the insurgents took him and others away and later returned to a location near Auno after he had lied to them that he was a student of Arabic Language.

Last Saturday, security sources around Jakana and Mainok said the insurgents carried out three attacks at a spot between the two communities.

“What is even baffling is that they used the same locations each time they come out for an ambush,” the source said.

“There are cattle routes between Jakana and Mainok, as well as between Mainok and Benishek. These are the routes they normally use driving their Hilux gun trucks, ” said the security source who craved anonymity.

Government response

The governor of Borno State had on January 10 distributed 70 new vans to a joint patrol committee for patrol of highways in the state.

According to Governor Zulum, the 70 new vehicles are for the military and security outfits for surveillance operations.

Mr Zulum said his administration “will not hesitate to take any measure or make any sacrifice in order to ensure peace and security return to our state.”

He said: “As the chief security officer of Borno State, it is my constitutional and moral responsibility to do whatever I possibly can in trying to secure the lives of citizens and doing that, is the whole essence of government in the first place.”

The government earlier last year gave out 90 vans to the military, bringing its recent donations to 160 patrol vans.

But despite this massive investment in the security sector, the attacks went on without any sign of reducing. The ISWAP gunmen carried out more attacks between 10 January when the vehicles were released and last weekend.

Effects on the Economy

Already, the activity of the ISWAP gunmen on the highway has begun to take a toll on the local economy of Maiduguri, just as it is affecting trades between Borno, Yobe and Kano states.

Husseini Abba Kyari, a textile merchant in Maiduguri who makes his bulk purchases from Kano, said, “the insecurity on the Kano-Maiduguri highway, especially between Damaturu and Maiduguri, has already affected my business.

“I had the intention of travelling to Kano since December last year, but here I am stranded because there is no guarantee of security on the way in or out of Maiduguri. I’m very worried because very soon I will run out of stock.”

Mallam Jidda, a major car dealer in Maiduguri, said the attacks on the Kano-Maiduguri highway have “badly affected” the business of car selling in Borno state.

According to him, the business has crumbled by “90 per cent”.

“We are in a dicey situation economically in Borno state, ” he lamented.

“What do you make of a situation where out of 100 businessmen that go out to bring cars for sales, only about 10 now have the courage to do so due to insecurity?

“Our kind if the business is 100 per cent dependent on the road. But now the only road available for us to transit our business is being taken over. Everyone fears for his or her life. The attacks are spontaneous and they are dangerous as well.

Mr Jidda said the crippling of the car dealership business has a huge ripple effect on its value chain.

“A well-established car sales garage has at least 50 persons depending on it for their daily bread. Yes! We have people who wash and polish cars, we have mechanics, receptionists, automobile electricians, spare parts vendors; we have all tribes depending on the business to survive. But it now means nothing for this multitude of beneficiaries if we can no longer bring into Maiduguri cars for sale.

“Government must rise up and do the needful urgently in order to save the Maiduguri road from being totally taken, else we would have a poor economy and poverty-stricken people to contend with in a society already battling to fight back an insurgency that was created largely by poverty, ” said Mr Jidda.

Civil Society laments

Civil society groups in Yobe state had on Monday bewailed the deplorable state of insecurity on the highways linking Borno and Yobe states.

The group said in a statement issued to the media that it “observes with total dismay, the growing insecurity in the Northeast in recent weeks, especially on the Damaturu-Maiduguri Highway.

“Innocent travellers are brutally killed on a daily basis yet, the government chose to be almost in total silence without a proactive measure to curtail such.”

The groups said they, as citizens, had done more in areas of support and intelligence sharing, sometimes at the risk of their lives, but the government seemed not to be doing its part.

“It seems our lives are taken for granted by (government) tolerating insurgents to continually feast on us, ” they said.

“The government should equally remind itself that our priority needs from her is SECURITY, which it has not done enough to provide, but succeeded in making citizens lose confidence in their sincerity in that direction.”

While making comments on recent issues surrounding the operations of the UN system and INGOs in the Northeast, the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Edward Kallon, also lamented the worsening insecurity on Borno state highways.

“I am extremely worried by the increasingly insecure environment that humanitarians are working in to provide urgent and vital assistance to civilians affected by the crisis, ” he said.

“The the humanitarian community is troubled by the increasing trend in vehicular checkpoints set up by non-state armed groups along main supply routes in the states of Borno and Yobe.

“These checkpoints expose civilians and humanitarians to heightened risks of being killed or abducted. I urge all parties to the conflict to protect the civilian population, including aid workers, from such grave violations of international laws, especially women and children who are among the most vulnerable and are caught up in the violence.”

NUJ expresses worry

The Nigerian Union of Journalists also decried the absence of safety on the highway between Borno and Yobe states.

Northeast Zonal Vice President of the NUJ, Alhassan Haruna, told journalists on Tuesday to step up reportage about the security situation of the only road that leads to Borno state.

“We are calling on President, Muhammadu Buhari to cut short his stay in the UK and return home and address the pathetic situation in the Northeast, ” he said.

“A responsible government should not wait and fold it’s armed, watching citizens being killed and abducted on a daily basis on a highway that is said to be guarded by armed soldiers and police.

” It is unacceptable in this advance era for government to leave its a citizen at the mercy of terrorists. It is unheard of that the only road to state as big as Borno cannot be protected for the ordinary populace who have never asked for anything more than the freedom to move and right to be protected, ” said Mr Haruna.

‘Safe highways’

Despite the attacks and abductions by armed groups on the highways of Borno, which in this year alone has claimed dozens of lives (both military and civilians) and got scores of the persons into captivity, the military command insists all is well.

Mr Adeniyi told journalists Monday evening that, as far as he was concerned, the route linking Maiduguri and Damaturu is very safe.

“I had just supervised the military escort of Jerusalem Christian pilgrims through the highway from Damaturu to Maiduguri,” he said.

Though the Theatre Commander said the highway is safe for motorists, it was the first time in a long time that pilgrims were given military escort from Damaturu to Maiduguri.

Governor Zulum two weeks ago begged the Federal government to ensure that the military does not shut down the Maiduguri-Kano highway. But it seems that if the government fails to address the problem, the road may soon be in the hands of the insurgents.

President Buhari had in May 2015 promised to end Boko Haram and improve the security situation in the Northeast. It is now clear from the current state of insecurity that the promise is far from fulfilled.

CrimeSome Miyetti Allah Members Are Kidnapping, Living In Luxury, Building Houses... by Nik77(op): 1:24pm On Jan 12, 2020
Sarkin Matasa (youth leader) and vigilante in the Girei Local Government Area, Adamawa State, Saidu Hamma, recently led a protest against the release of kidnap suspects from police custody, one of whom is the leader of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, Girei chapter, Ibrahim Jakka. Matasa tells HINDI LIVINUS that Girei will only be safe if Jakka and his gang are rearrested by the police

Saidu Hamma,
You recently protested against the release of some kidnap suspects from police custody, what really happened?

We work hand in hand with security agencies, especially the Girei police division. We suspected that some of the suspected kidnappers, whom we assisted in apprehending, were about to be released unconditionally. So we had to mobilise to ensure this never happened. Following the rising spate of kidnapping cases, we (youths) got tired and formed a vigilance group because the government was not helping in addressing insecurity. We patrol the town, using Dane Guns that each volunteer brought with them.

How did you know they were involved in kidnapping?

They are Fulani. They are our cattle rearers. My father owns cows. I’m a Fulani man in the town but they are Fulani people in the bush. When the going was good and we bought cattle, we would call these people to rear them for us. So, we know them. But we have been suspecting them and their activities, so we passed information to security agents. After a directive by the Divisional Police Officer, we went after them in the bush.

Do you have concrete evidence because suspicion is not enough?

We have informants. Those informants are their blood brothers whom we use to monitor and check their (Miyetti Allah) activities. Through our informants, we knew when they went out in the morning and returned at night. Sometimes, they could take as long as two or three days after leaving home, before they returned very late at night.

Secondly, they started living in opulence. They built houses in the bush, which is abnormal for a Fulani man working in the bush. That made us suspicious of their activities. If you are a Fulani man, you don’t build houses in the bush. Instead of being in the bush, they now moved to the city, which is abnormal. That made us to suspect them to be engaged in criminal activities. Our suspicion of their criminal activities now yielded results, so we went to look for them.

How were they caught?

The DPO of Girei Divisional Police Headquarters issued search warrants and their homes were searched. When their homes were searched, we found various arms and ammunition. But we could not get anything at the residence of Ibrahim Jakka, who is the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigerian chairman in Girei Local Government Area. We learnt from his younger brother, Isa, that he is the leader of the kidnapping ring. Ibrahim Jakka was identified as a central figure involved in the clashes between farmers and herders in the area.

Why are you and others vehemently against the earlier release of Jakka and others after their arrest?

It is because our lives are in danger. Secondly, it was not the police that caught them. We led the police to arrest Jakka and his gang to have peace in our community. There was a time when certain members of Jakka’s gang were arrested and taken to the police station and it was Jakka that was responsible for their release.

When a directive was about to be given for the release of some of the suspects arrested, which we got to know about through our sources on the ground, we had to quickly stage the protest which helped to foil the plan. This is a security issue. But the orders came from above. The commissioner of police was given the order. If not for our protest, what happened when Jakka was released after his arrest, along with two members of his gang, would have been repeated.

The first time Jakka was caught with two members of his gang in a market, he boasted after his release that even if he was caught 10 times, he would be set free 10 times. When I learnt about his bail, I led about 30 stakeholders to meet with the commissioner of police.

The CP said he released Jakka because he denied being a kidnapper and promised to help the police arrest his brothers, whom he told the police were the kidnappers.

We later learnt from the CP that Jakka was granted bail (and asked) to bring the kidnappers after being taken to Abuja where he was released three weeks ago. Now, we are looking for Duna, Geide and Double who are relatives of Jakka. One of their brothers died and an informant told us that he spotted the wanted men at Damare.

He also said he spotted Geide, along with Ibrahim Jakka, Duna and Double. All the five wanted men were there, so we mobilised and went to where they were with Operation Farauta (an anti-crime outfit). We caught three of them. Geide, who was second on the police’s wanted list after Duna, was arrested but they left Ibrahim Jakka.

Even after the protest, I went to the commissioner of police to demand the rearrest of Ibrahim Jakka.

Why is the rearrest of Ibrahim Jakka so important to you?

His brother, Isa, has confessed that Jakka collected a ransom of over N1m. He mentioned the place and area. This same brother confessed that Ibrahim Jakka came to collect two AK 47 rifles and ransom from Geide, who was second on the police’s wanted list. Three of his brothers were involved in kidnapping and they have accused him of providing them with arms.

Are you alleging that the leader of the Miyetti Allah in Girei is involved in kidnapping?

Yes. Ibrahim Jakka is the leader of MACBAN in Girei. The link is that three of his blood brothers are suspected kidnappers. His younger brother, Isa, also confessed that he got two AK 47 rifles from Geide and Double.

When you arrested Jakka, did you question him before you handed him over to the police? What did he say?

Jakka said he was not a kidnapper and that he was just being accused falsely. Why should I believe him when he was always together with his brothers, who were kidnappers?

What is your next line of action now that he’s still at large?

Our next line of action is to urge the commissioner of police to order the arrest of Ibrahim Jakka over allegations that he’s in possession of a large cache of weapons used by the notorious kidnappers.

If Jakka is not a kidnapper, then he should be in a position to help the police to bring his brothers to justice.

After the protest, have the police reached out to you?

Yes. According to them, they don’t have the intention of releasing the suspected kidnappers. The commissioner said there was no way the Force could have asked the DPO to release the suspects, and that they were working for peace and order. But they ordered the DPO to relocate the suspect by 6pm to Criminal Investigation Department; that was why we suspected foul play. If you ordered the transfer of the suspects, why not take them in the morning? Why did you have to wait until evening? If I had not been at the police station at the time, the police station could have been burnt.

Now that Jakka and one other suspect are still at large, are you not afraid that you may be targeted?

Of course, yes. I even need the assistance of the commissioner of police for protection. I am an indigene of Girei, I live here and there’s nowhere else for me to go.

Have you engaged the state chapter of the Miyetti Allah to complain and urge them to get rid of the bad eggs among them?

If in my capacity as the leader of the youths, I can take up the gauntlet in fighting crime, I expect other senior stakeholders like the district head to wade into the issue since it involves a leader of

Miyetti Allah. But as I speak to you, there’s indifference. But Girei will not be safe until Ibrahim Jakka and other members of his family suspected to be kidnappers, are arrested and brought to justice.

What do you think can be done to improve security in your area and the state?

If I say the security agencies have not been working, I would be unfair. All what has been achieved has been with the security agencies because we only assist them with information. The state governor is doing well; he gave us five motorbikes for our crime fighting activities. He also gave two vans to the police command in the local government area. One of the vans was used on the day we went to arrest the suspected kidnappers. But I would want to see more motivation from the government and synergy between the security agencies and the vigilance groups in the state.

But if there’s going to be peace in the council, the leadership of Miyetti Allah will have to step in because it is their leader in this council and members of his family who are allegedly behind insecurity in this area.

The government can look for the leadership of Miyetti Allah and seek the attention of traditional institutions so we can sit down and address the issues. We don’t want to believe Jakka’s claim that he only has two AK 47 rifles when we know he’s in possession of a large cache of arms.

Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Adamawa, Rev Lawan Andimi, was recently kidnapped by Boko Haram and a video was recently released. How bad is the security situation in Adamawa now?

The situation is not stable. Just recently, a DPO was kidnapped. Before he was kidnapped, some professors were kidnapped. The situation has been hot and cold. But recently, it improved due to the activities of the Department of State Services, police and other security outfits like Operation Farauta, being supported by the state government.

PoliticsLamentations After Self-imolation In Northern Nigeria by Nik77(op): 1:06am On Jan 09, 2020
A uniquely Northern Nigerian Muslim culture, which traditionally holds education in contemptuous suspicion as a Western Judeo-Christian expansionist ploy, has continuously relegated the region to the abyss of socio-economic dysfunction. In combination with a distorted but widely practiced form of Sufism, which holds poverty as virtue and material prosperity as vice, the entrenched Muslim culture that abhors education is responsible for the social menace of poverty-stricken, mostly homeless children, commonly known as AlmaJiri, roaming the streets of northern Nigeria in their millions.

A region that formed part of the greater western Sudanese states, with a history of Islamist revivalist movements for most part of the 19th Century, northern Nigeria was made fertile for the rapid sprouting of the early seeds of radicalisation in the second half of the 20th century when Salafism was birthed in the region from modern-day Sudan. While also holding education in utter contempt, the cardinal objective of the reformation of the Islamic faith by ridding Muslim practices of what were considered all forms of innovation and a return to their interpretations of puritan Islamic prophetic tradition saw Salafism attempting to wipe out Sufism in all of northern Nigeria.

Imbibing the contemporary aspiration for global Islamist revivalism of the Muslim Caliphacy through political Islamic theology as localised galvanizing tools, the separating line between the state and religion became blurred in Salafi doctrines, setting the stage for a prolonged agitation for the full imposition of the Muslim legal code, Sharia, in Nigeria. The aspiration for the imposition of Sharia law in Nigeria by millions of northern Nigerian Muslims now under the firm influence of Salafism but the failure to achieve same through political Islamic theology was the precursor of the devastating Boko Haram insurgency, whose objective is to forcefully put to practice what has been preached in the mainstream Muslim community for several decades.

The twin menace of Almajirnici and Boko Haram insurgency that has reduced the image of the Muslim North to the most impoverished, ignorant, diseased, socially backward, economically underdeveloped region with notoriety as the third most dangerous place to live in the world is discernably a consequence of a wilful Muslim culture, which is without parallel anywhere in the entire global Muslim world, as these practices are fundamentally not Islamic. While the Almajiri institution has been sustained by the still entrenched traditional Muslim Sufi practices, the Boko Haram insurgency is kept alive by the constant nourishing of the seeds of radicalisation through the preaching of hate, intolerance and separatism by mainstream Muslim religious leadership under the heavy influence of Salafi radical Islamic theology. Whereas, Sufism birthed Almajirinci, Salafism gave rise to Boko Haram insurgency and both are still imbedded in the complexities of northern Nigeria’s traditional Muslim culture, making those problems very intractable.

Despite these challenges associated with a wilful but woefully wrong choice of a manifestly retrogressive northern Nigerian Muslim culture, little or nothing seems to have been done to reposition the region onto the path of socio-economic redemption, no thanks to a visionless political leadership backed by the conservative religious establishment. Taking advantage of the widespread ignorance of the mass of the uneducated poor of the North, which is fostered by the conservative religious establishment and the political leadership in the contestation of power with their counterparts in the predominantly Christian southern part of Nigeria over the leadership of the Nigerian state for the control revenues accruable from Nigeria’s oil mineral resources for primitive self-acquisition is primarily responsible for this leadership inertia.

Positioning as defenders of the people’s interest against perceived enemies from the South, the political leaders of northern Nigeria have evolved a triumvirate system of power brokerage, which ensures a cohesive front in the battle for the soul of the Nigerian state with the South in a mutually beneficial arrangement. This triumvirate consists of the educated elements with the ability to engage with their counterparts from the South constituting the political class, the traditional religious establishment, which sanctions the divine right of temporal rulers, and the uneducated poor masses that form the bulwark of northern Nigeria’s political power. In this complex web of power relations, the religious establishment secures the political base of uneducated poor masses from which the political class derives the legitimacy to lead, through the preaching of poverty as virtue, prosperity as vice, education as western, hence, inconsistent with faith and strict obedience to constituted authority as they are divinely ordained to govern. Most importantly, the religious establishment has also successfully created a “we versus them” situation, through hate, divisive, intolerant and ethno-religious discriminatory preaching, between the Muslim North and the rest of Nigeria as useful election protectionist tool against loss of presidential power. With underage voters constituting a significant portion of the largest voting demography in Nigeria domiciled in the North, the over 13 million out-of-school children, commonly known as Almajiri, form the backbone of the region’s power base, hence the institution must be preserved for the advantage of political class.

The political leadership, on its part, has devised an intricate patronage system, which caters for both the religious establishment and the masses in proportionate measure thereby deepening the propensity for dependency rather than self-reliance. The political leadership of northern Nigeria has gone a stretch further to champion cherished religious aspirations ranging from Sharia to the strident defence of child marriage on the national stage to please the religious establishment. To keep the bulk of the masses in perpetual mental and material dependency, the northern political leadership has disingenuously defended their right to remain uneducated, citing the fallacy of pre-existing “Islamic education” (Almajirinci) before the advent of “western education” in contemporary times, a form of education they tend to present as equal, if not superior. By adorning the toga of educational disadvantage like a badge of honour nearly six decades after Independence, northern political leaders have advanced their pecuniary interest to the collective detriment of the entire region in a manner that is akin to cultural self-immolation.

The rise in ethno-geographic and religious populism in northern Nigeria in recent times has compounded the problem of the region more. Pressed from fellow Nigerians of different geography, ethnicity and faith in a fit of superiority complex, northern Nigeria turned towards their kind in neighbouring African countries in a clear case of conflict of ethnicity and citizenship, which has rendered the entire northern flank of Nigeria borderless. Taking full advantage of this unfortunate situation, mercenary fighters, criminal gangs, cross-border bandits, smugglers and kidnappers have poured into northern Nigeria as the region presents a thoroughfare of limitless opportunities for criminal enrichment.

Today, northern Nigeria is falling apart under the effect of sediments of cultural self-immolation, which has turned the region to the worst place in human misery index, as the poorest, most insecure and ignorant region in the world. As northern Nigeria is set aflame by Boko Haram insurgency on its eastern flank, cross-border banditry on its west and killer herdsmen in central Nigeria, the purveyors of visionless political leadership, which is directly responsible for its state of anomie, have fallen victim to their disingenuous power grab scheme over the years. The failure to transform the grassroots to tall trees has seen the grassroots turning to weeds to wither the tall trees. With dwindling revenue from the centre and accompanying rise in population, the intricate patronage system hitherto put in place by the northern political class is now grossly inadequate and unsustainable, thereby leaving out a large section of the surging population of the masses desperately poor.

Without education and requisite skills to survive in modern times, the poor have resorted to feasting on the rich in northern Nigeria and the lamentations have just begun.

PoliticsBritish House Of Lords Deliberates On Nigerian Crisis by Nik77(op): 12:39am On Jan 09, 2020
UK HOUSE OF LORDS

Her Ladyship The Baroness Cox requested to publish her speech from yesterday’s debate in the House of Lords about the tragic situation in Nigeria.

She recounted, amongst other things, how many thousands of civilians were killed in attacks led by Islamist Boko Haram and Fulani militias in northern and central-belt states.

In her words, “the underlying drivers of conflict are complex, yet targeted violence and the perpetration of atrocities against predominantly Christian communities suggest that religion and ideology play a key part, as emphasised in the Bishop of Truro’s excellent report,” noting that Christian communities are specifically targeted.

Citing “reliable sources”, she said that “more than 5,000 Christians have been killed since 2015, with 1,000 murdered in 2019”.

She stressed that the Global Terrorism Index in 2016 and 2017 named Fulani militia as the fourth deadliest terrorist group in the world, with only Boko Haram, ISIS and al-Shabaab being accounted deadlier.

“During many of the attacks,” she said, “the Fulani are reported by survivors to have shouted “Allahu Akbar”, “Destroy the infidels” and “Wipe out the infidels”.”

Find below deliberations at the UK House of Lords and Baroness Cox’s speech on Nigeria:

QUEEN’S SPEECH DEBATE

7 JANUARY 2020

My Lords, Her Majesty’s gracious Speech affirmed the UK’s commitment to “work closely with international partners to help solve the most complex international security issues and promote peace and security globally.”

That was a very important commitment, yet I deeply regret that I have personally witnessed how, in Nigeria, British foreign policy has caused more harm than good.

In recent years, many thousands of civilians have been killed in attacks led by Islamist Boko Haram and Fulani militias in northern and central-belt states. The underlying drivers of conflict are complex, yet targeted violence and the perpetration of atrocities against predominantly Christian communities suggest that religion and ideology play a key part, as emphasised in the Bishop of Truro’s excellent report.

Christian communities are specifically targeted. Reliable sources claim that more than 5,000 Christians have been killed since 2015, with 1,000 murdered in 2019. The Global Terrorism Index in 2016 and 2017 named Fulani militia as the fourth deadliest terrorist group in the world, with only Boko Haram, ISIS and al-Shabaab being accounted deadlier. During many of the attacks, the Fulani are reported by survivors to have shouted “Allahu Akbar”, “Destroy the infidels” and “Wipe out the infidels.”

The attacks have, on occasion, led to retaliatory violence, as communities can no longer rely on the Government for protection or justice. However, we have seen no evidence of comparability of scale or equivalence of atrocities. During a recent visit to Nigeria, in November, I met survivors of five villages attacked by Fulani militia, forcing an estimated 12,000 people to flee.

In two of the villages, 116 people were killed. It was possible to meet only a limited number of survivors, but the consistency of their experiences is deeply disturbing and consistent with evidence from numerous previous visits. These are disturbing statistics, but behind every statistic is a human horror story. I give just a few examples of the suffering of the people: sadly, I could massively multiply them.

Antonia from Karamai said: “I saw my brother-in-law’s body on the ground, hacked to pieces by a machete. Our home was destroyed. The hospital was burnt. They tried to burn the roof of the church by piling up the chairs, like a bonfire.”

A pastor from Madugrui said: “Every day we carry new corpses to the cemetery. They kill farmers. They destroy our homes and churches. They kidnap and rape women.”

Ta’aziya from Karamai said: “We could see bullets whizzing. Everything was destroyed. In our whole village, only two of the homes were not burnt. Almost 50 people were killed.”

As a final example, it was my agonising privilege to weep with and to hug Veronica, from Dogon Noma, who told me: “They attacked me with a machete twice, once to the neck and once to my hand.” I saw the scars.

She said: “They said they wanted my daughter to suck my finger. So they amputated my forefinger and I passed out. When I woke up, I saw my six year-old daughter on the ground, dead, with my chopped finger in her mouth.”

More recently, 11 Nigerian Christians were killed by Islamic State terrorists in a brutal Christmas Day attack. The beheadings of the 11 Christians, shown in a video by Islamic State in West Africa, ISWAP, were gruesome so-called revenge for the killing in Syria of Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

In addition to the deep concerns caused by the brutal killings, there are the disturbing implications of the allegiance pledged by Abu Musab al-Barnawi, the sect leader of Boko Haram, to ISWAP, suggesting that ISIS has consolidated its hold on a new African frontier. This indicates a more internationally organised terrorist group bringing together Islamist militants to achieve their objectives in West Africa.

While the underlying causes of violence are complex, the asymmetry and escalation of attacks by well-armed Fulani militia upon these predominately Christian communities are stark and must be acknowledged.

Such atrocities cannot be attributed just to desertification, climate change or competition for resources, as our Government have claimed. The situation fulfils the criteria of genocide as recognised by the Nigerian National Assembly and must be so recognised, with the international community’s duty to respond accordingly.

Given the Nigerian Government’s apparent complicity in the persecution of Christians, there is a strong argument that international aid should be curtailed until Abuja fulfils its duties to protect and provide for its own citizens of any belief who are subjected to such horrendous suffering, and to end the impunity with which the perpetrators of atrocities perpetuate their horrendous crimes.

Can the Minister give us an assurance that our Government will fulfil the commitment made in the gracious Speech and pressure the Nigerian Government to protect and provide for all their people, bringing desperately needed protection and help to over 2 million citizens now suffering displacement, the many thousands mourning the deaths of loved ones and all those living in acute danger of terrorist attacks?

They have been pleading for help and protection, which have not been forthcoming so far. I passionately hope that the Government’s commitment will result in these pleas for help no longer being in vain.

CrimeGov Zulum, Theatre Commander Trade Words Over Bribery Allegation by Nik77(op): 9:38pm On Jan 06, 2020
Borno Governor Babagana Zulum has accused the army and police of collecting bribes from poor citizens without National ID cards at check points along major highways especially the Maiduguri/Damaturu highway.

The visibly angry Zulum made the open accusation on Monday afternoon at a checkpoint at the outskirts of Maiduguri along the Damaturu/Maiduguri highway where he saw thousands of stranded travellers.

He exchanged words with the Theatre Commander, Major General Olusegun Adeniyi.

The Damaturu/Maiduguri road, though the most relatively safe route connecting Maiduguri, has recently become increasingly dangerous as Boko Haram launched intermittent ambushes on security operatives and civilians on the highway.

Zulum, angered by the number of people he saw at the check-points on his way to Jakana, a town attacked by the insurgents on Sunday, began to speak on top of his voice.

He condemned the action of security men holding travellers and collecting money from them.

“This is unacceptable,”Gov. Zulum spoke raising his voice.

“How can you subject people to this kind of torture all in the name of National ID card? And you are all here collecting N500 and N1000 from poor travellers who don’t have national ID card.”

The governor’s voice and anger was seen to have increased when a soldier approached him and tried to offer an explanation.

Replying the soldier, he said: : “No this is not right. The Federal Government has not created an enabling environment for our people to get their National ID cards and you are here collecting N500 and N1000 as a fine for not having what the Federal Government has not provided for all.”

The governor stressed that he has for some time received reports of soldiers and police exploiting travellers at check-points in the name of national identity card.

Zulum immediately directed one of his aides to contact the Theatre Commander on phone where a hot exchange of words between the two ensued.

The governor was heard shouting on phone: “Theater Commander where are you? …Right now I’m at the checkpoint near state university and we have thousands of people stranded and your people are here collecting money from people because they don’t have National ID Card. Why?”

Adeniyi later arrived at the scene to defend his men but the governor insisted that the soldiers were collecting bribe even in his presence.

Facing the Theatre Commander, the governor insisted: “I saw them with my eyes, I spoke with people that were asked to give money!”

Major General Adeniyi maintained that the hold-up was as result of the Sunday incident at Jakana but promised the governor to investigate the accusation to find out if it was true.

Zulum, who left in anger, told the Theatre Commander: “You must know that the government and people of Borno state are behind you and your men but you must call your soldiers to order, you must check their excesses.”

PoliticsFemi Fani-Kayode Blasts Ismaila Isa Funtua, Calls Him Uncircumcised Philistine by Nik77(op): 3:11pm On Jan 06, 2020
The former Aviation Minister and diehard human rights activist, Femi Fani Kayode has attacked Ismaila Isa Funtua for saying that if Igbo (Southeastern Nigeria) must occupy the position of President in 2023 general elections, "they should belong."

Kayode on his official tweeter handle, @realFFK, blasted Funtua, calling him "unrepentant amalekite, racial supremacist, uncircumcised Philistine & ageing almajiri."

Read the full tweet below:

"If the Igbo want to be President then they must belong'' - Ismaila Isa Funtua.

"Belong to who? To you & your people? Just listen to this asinine and arrogant contribution coming from this unrepentant Amalekite, racial supremacist, uncircumcised Philistine & ageing almajiri.

Who the hell does he think he is? Was he there when the Lord created the universe, established the foundations of the earth and forged the heavenly firmament? Is he God?

He wants the Igbo "to belong" after the heinous crimes that were perpetuated against them by the Nigerian state over the last 59 years and after denying them their most basic and fundamental rights?

He wants the Igbo "to belong" after humiliating, marginalising and excluding them from virtually every sphere of governance and human endeavour over the last 4 years?

He wants the Igbo "to belong" after attempting to destroy all their top businessmen and businesses and after denying them the support that he gives others?

Is this creature serious? Is he in full control of his mental faculties? Does he come from another planet or from another world? Is he from Nigeria, Niger Republic, Mali or Chad?

Let me give him a piece of free advice. If he wants the Igbo "to belong" then he should first apologise to them for the mass murder, ethnic and religious cleansing and genocide of 3 million Biafran civilians, including 1 million children, during the civil war.

If he wants them "to belong" then he should urge the Federal Government to stop butchering and demonising them and to stop treating them like slaves and animals.

If he wants them "to belong" they should stop calling IPOB members and Nnamdi Kanu terrorists simply because they called for a referendum on independence and Biafra.

If he wants them "to belong" they should be fairer to them when it comes to Federal appointments. If he wants them "to belong" they should stop humiliating, bullying, depriving, cheating, insulting, raping and denying them at every point in time.

If he wants them "to belong" they should stop slaughtering Christians and burning Churches.

You have the nerve to cite MKO Abiola as an example of a man that "belonged" and that "was allowed" to win an election forgetting that your people never allowed him to exercise his mandate or to rule and that they ended up murdering him whilst he was in detention.

When will these insulting, patronising, disrespectful, outdated, anachronistic, racist, provocative, infantile, petty, tongue-in-cheek and puerile assertions from unrepentant barbarians like Funtua cease?

When will you accept the fact that the Igbo, and indeed the entire south and Middle Belt, are far more interested in a restructured Nigeria where power is devolved from the centre, or indeed full blown independence, than your accursed Presidency.

Get this clear and stop acting as if yours is a master-race that owns our country and that was born to rule. You are not the one to determine who will rule Nigeria: GOD IS!"

Christianity EtcBishop Kukah Says Nigerian Govt Are ‘islamic Fundamentalists Without Bombs’ by Nik77(op): 12:26am On Jan 04, 2020
‘The only difference between the government and Boko Haram is Boko Haram is holding a bomb,’ Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah claimed

The beheading of 10 Christians by Islamist militants in Nigeria has sparked a condemnation by a bishop who accuses the government of using different methods to achieve the same goal of Islamic dominance.

In the wake of the Christmas Day attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and an attack by Boko Haram on Christmas Eve, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah of Sokoto told Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need of his disgust with the authorities.

He said: “The only difference between the government and Boko Haram is Boko Haram is holding a bomb.”

He added: “They are using the levers of power to secure the supremacy of Islam, which then gives more weight to the idea that it can be achieved by violence. With the situation in Nigeria, it is hard to see the moral basis they have to defeat Boko Haram.

“They have created the conditions to make it possible for Boko Haram to behave the way they are behaving.”

On Boxing Day 2019, ISWAP released a video beheading 10 Christians and shooting one Muslim, saying they were avenging the death of Abu Bakr al-Baghadi, Daesh (ISIS)’s leader, and other senior Daesh members killed during a US raid in October.

This followed a Christmas Eve attack by Boko Haram in which seven were killed.

The UN estimates that over 2.2 million have been displaced by Boko Haram’s actions – between 2013 and 2015, more than 11,000 people were killed by the group.

Bishop Kukah said the Nigerian government, by packing key government positions with hardline Muslims, gives tacit approval to such groups.

“If the people in power don’t do enough to integrate Christians then they give oxygen to Islamism. If they have countries where everybody is Muslim in power then you give vent to the idea that Islam should be supreme.”

Bishop Kukah hit out against Western nations who he said are happy to mine the resources of Africa but not defend its people.

He said: “Western nations are not doing enough. They have shown that the resources of Africa are more important than the ordinary people. Clearly, the Western nations could have reduced the influence of Boko Haram by 80 or 90 percent – they have deliberately not done enough.”

Bishop Kukah said that the only thing preventing Nigeria from being engulfed in civil war was the peaceful tenets of Christianity.

He said: “Christians have every reason to feel insecure and also there is a general feeling of their marginalisation from the political process. If the principles of our religion were different, there would be a civil war by now.

“It is the glory of our religion that this hasn’t happened. It is difficult to preach peace in this context. Any resolution depends on how Christians decide to react. They won’t use violence but what will they do?”

CrimeAnxiety In Ondo Community Over Forceful Occupation By Fulani Herdsmen by Nik77(op): 6:06pm On Dec 30, 2019
We have paid some leaders for our settlements in the community — spokesperson

Anxiety enveloped Ajowa Akoko in Akoko North West council area of Ondo state last weekend over the occupation of the community by over 200 Fulani herdsmen.

The herdsmen reportedly invaded the community in a trailer and a truck from one of the Northern parts of the country.

But the spokesperson of the herdsmen said they have settled some leaders in the communities before they decided to settle down in Ajowa.

Ajowa Akoko communities have eight traditional rulers.

However, some irate youths mobilised in their hundreds and protested against a plan by the herdsmen to occupy their community without notice.

Recall that similar situation occurred recalled that about two years ago at Akunu and Auga Akoko in Akoko North-East council area of the state.

The timely intervention of traditional rulers in the communities led by the former chairman of the state council of Obaship, the olukare of Ikare Oba Saliu Akadiri Momoh doused the tension and nip in the bud the crisis that it would have generated.

Speaking with newsmen on the plan to occupy their community, the chairman Ajowa in council, the Oloso of Oso- Ajowa, Oba Clement Omoola Jimoh described the incident as embarrassing to the communities.

Oba Jimoh said ” To us, the coming to the community of such large herdsmen of over 200 at a time like this is an embarrassment to us in the communities.

” We have informed the authorities and we the traditional ruler’s monarch, the elders, and the security agencies have prevailed on our youths not to take laws into their hands.

Another traditional ruler in one of the affected communities, the Oluro of Uro Ajowa, Oba Tlmothy Ipinmoroti disclosed that Ajowa Akoko said the arrival of the herdsmen in the trailer and a truck was suspicious.

Oba lpinmoroti noted that the communities in Ajowa “remained one of the most hospitable communities in Yorubaland but the way these herdsmen came signaled suspicion and called for caution. We are suspicious of their intentions.

Also speaking on the development, the Chairman of Ajowa Akoko Community Hon Bakare Ajayi expressed fear over the occupation of the herdsmen.

Ajayi pointed out that the “Ajowa community which is a gateway town needs a lot of consciousness.

According to him ” our people have been battling with few herdsmen in their farms who usually use their cows to vandalise their crops. That’s not all we have also faced with security challenges such as kidnapping in this axis.

He noted that ” our people needed to be security conscious as they saw in their luggage’s dangerous weapons such as axes, sharp cutlasses, and swords.

However, the spokesperson of the herdsmen who identified himself as Issa Ahmed that some important indigenes in the communities collected money from them before the decision to come for settlement in the communities.

Ahmed said they wouldn’t have come in the large number if there was no previous agreement with some personalities in the communities.

Contacted, the Area Commander for Ikare Akoko, Razak Rauf confirmed the development but allayed the fear and anxieties of the people.

Rauf said police detectives have swung into action and the matter was under investigation.

As at the time of filling in this report, soldiers at the Ajowa Military checkpoint are keeping watch over the herdsmen and have not allowed them into the communities.

CrimeIsis Leader Who Got Nigerian Visa, And 9 Other Inconclusive Probes Ordered By Pr by Nik77(op): 8:45pm On Dec 28, 2019
Isis Leader who got Nigerian Visa, and 9 other inconclusive Probes ordered by President Buhari.
opera.comDec 28, 2019 5:05 PM

If the Buhari led government concluded all investigations it started, we would've made progress, and also avoid future reoccurrence. However there has been many probes ordered by his administration, which for some reason has not been concluded with the report made public. Some of this incidents claimed many lives of Nigerians, while others threatened our hallowed institutions; one would expect speedy conclusion of such probes, so that Nigerians will have answers, and for those who may have been responsible be duly punished according to the law.

Shiites Killing

In December 2015, over 350 members of Shiites Muslim sect were massacred by the Nigerian Army in their place of worship in Zaria, over right of way. It is instructive to note that Amnesty International also released the report of their own investigation, showing that the bodies of the victims which includes women and Children, were secretly buried in mass graves. However President Buhari who ordered a probe on the incident, has not fired or prosecuted any Army officer involved in this great atrocity. This has brought worldwide criticism on the government, and also suspicion, that the President may be taking this incident lightly because it is a different sect from his.

Rann Bombing

On January 17, 2017, a Nigerian Air force Jet took off from the airport base and flew to an IDP camp in RANN Borno State, and bombed the camp, killing over 115 Nigerians including women and Children. The Airforce called this a mistake, and again the President ordered a probe into the incident, but almost 3 years now, no one has been punished for that incident, or tangible explanation given for the tragedy that happened.

The Air force Chief has also been in office without consequences.

Ikoyi Stolen Dollars

November 2017, the media was awash with numerous photos of cash found in an apartment in Ikoyi Lagos, allegedly belonging to the wife of a former NIA head, Ayodele Oke. Over 43 million dollars was found hidden in this apartment, the President ordered a probe, which was led by Prof. Osinbajo, which later recommended the dismissal and prosecution of the former NIA chief.

Oke was fired for this incident, but no one is facing trial over this incident. It is instructive to note that in his statement, Ayodele Oke said the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) was well briefed on its operations which included the reason for hiding the money there.

Soldiers killed Police officers to Free a notorious Kidnapper

In August 2019, the Nigerian Police in Taraba State, arrested a notorious Kidnapper, Wadume. And while transporting him to the police station for detention and prosecution, they were ambushed by men of the Nigerian Army, who shot and killed 3 police officers and one innocent civilian, then went ahead to free the kidnapper. The Police came on twitter and decried the killing of their men by the army, but the army also took to twitter and publicly defended their men who carried out the operation.

It was later revealed that a Senior officer, Capt. Tijani Balarabe, ordered that operation. The President ordered a probe into the incident, and again it has not been concluded. Wadume and Capt. Tijani who ordered the ambush have also not been prosecuted, the soldiers who carried out the attack, have not been court-martialed.

National Assembly Invasion

August 2018, masked men of the DSS took over the National assembly with guns and attempted a "Legislative coup". Simultaneously, the convoy of the Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki was blocked on his way to work, while the Deputy Senate P{resident's home was cordoned off by men of the Nigerian Police at the same time. This was an attempt to forcefully change the leadership of the National Assembly. The Acting President Prof. Osinbajo, ordered the sack of the Former DG of DSS, Lawan Daura, and his arrest. He was later released behind the scenes without prosecution, while the President ordered another probe into the incident. This probe is also inconclusive, and nothing has come out of it since then, while the perpetrator is free. It is believed that the President is covering up for him because he may have ordered the invasion.

Former SGF Babchir Lawal and IDP Funds

The former Secretary to Government of the Federation, Babchir Lawal who was indicted for corruption by a probe ordered by President Buhari, and subsequently fired, is still a free man without any prosecution. This probe became necessary after many Nigerians cried out on his involvement in diverting money meant for IDP's.

One would expect that a government that claims to fight corruption will move quickly to prosecute Babachir Lawal, but instead they have kept quiet on this incident since, and Babachir is free without consequences.

Agatu Killings

From February to March 2016, about 300-500 Nigerians were Killed in Agatu, Benue State by suspected Fulani herders, women and Children were butchered in their sleep, and homes razed down by fire. The President ordered a probe into the incident which has been again inconclusive. HE even sent the former IG of Police to the area, but it was later revealed that the IG did not particularly obey the order.

Killing of PDP woman Leader

This incident is recent, but it is on this list because of the importance. A PDP woman leader, Mrs Achejuh Abuh was killed in her home by suspected APC supporters after the Kogi State Governorship elections. She was burnt alive.

The President ordered a probe, and we have not seen or heard the report of this probe, or even know the names of the people probing this incident. Could it just be mere lip service?

ISIS leader got Nigerian Visa

A notorious and wanted ISIS leader, Ahmed Al-Assir was apprehended in Lebanon on his way to Nigeria, with a Nigerian Visa on his passport. Which raised the question on how a wanted terrorist got a valid Nigerian Visa without being flagged by the authorities. This is coming at time ISIS arm in West Africa; Boko Haram, is mounting serious war on Nigeria in the North East, killing many soldiers and civilians, with suspicion that they are working with highly placed Nigerian officials, for them to have access to the deadly and sophisticated weapons they've been using. This makes it even more important to discover which official gave him the Nigerian Visa and who gave the order?

4 years later, the probe ordered by President Buhari on this incident is inconclusive.

We hope that as we enter a new year, that some of the reports of these probes will be made public, and the people involved are punished according to the law.

CrimeJUST IN: Soldiers Deployed To Borno State Allegedly Beaten For Refusing To Repor by Nik77(op): 6:06pm On Dec 27, 2019
For almost a decade the Boko Haram insurgency has been causing terror and havoc to the people of North-Eastern Nigeria. Borno state have been hit most since the emergence of Boko Haram, lives lost, properties destroyed and all sort of atrocities committed against the state by the dreaded terror group. The State has been avoided by people and business due to its unsafe nature.

A few hours ago, Jackson Ude, a journalist and a former Director of Strategy and Communication under President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has described the Nigerian Army as corrupt and explains how soldiers posted to Borno state are beaten for refusing to go report there.

In his words, "Some soldiers who refused to deploy to Maiduguri citing lack of weapons to fight Boko Haram, were loaded in a truck to Abacha Barracks, Abuja. Once they got to Abacha barracks, they were beating blue-black and drilled. Some fainted, some locked up in cells."

"Senior Army officials said they didn’t want a court marshal as that might expose and ridicule the Army. Hundreds of soldiers are being killed by Boko Haram and buried secretly by the military. An official who does not want to be identified told me.

Corruption is huge in the Army!" He concluded by saying.

These allegations by the journalist are yet to be replied by the Nigerian Army or anyone from them yet. We wait for more revelations.
