This information is not correct. I travelled with two of my kids who are US citizens and whose application had coincidentally just been refused at the time. They were given a visitors record at the POE after the officer asked me if they would be staying throughout my study duration. The visitor record allows them study in Canada and is valid for the same duration as my study permit.

I am new here and I would like to apply for study permit ,I got admission into fanshawe college ,and the course relates more to my work experience.
I graduated in 2007 with a 2-1 and I have been working since them.My questions are as follows
Can I do a post graduate certificate instead of a masters how do I defend this ,my reason is simply I can’t stress for a 2 year program when I can complete in a year,my years of experience would count for something if I need to get a job.(13 years)
Can I apply with my kids ,I have 4 kids 3 are citizens and I am contemplating whether to go with the youngest who is barely 2 years
I have an issue with my pof,I have it in an investment account and I hear Canada doesn’t accept investment accounts
Can I liquidate into my savings account and explain in my sop or should I just send the investment certificate.
My hubby is sponsoring but he prefers to pay the money into my account ,this would come in as a lump sum should I get a gift deed letter or just explain that he contributed towards my tuition.
Finally, has anyone applied with a us citizen for study permit and got refused(asking because I am contemplating going with all 3 and leaving only one behind )

Wes is just fraustrating me.. Since 30 of dec they acknowledged my Verification reply...I am yet to get a date of completion. I have called and called, sent emails, chatted them on messenger and twitter.yet they stay they are still reviewing? Abeg i dunno what else to do

As for documents, make sure you have:
*all correspondence with the hospital and doctors
*all the billing they gave you, including the breakdown of services and charges
*copies of the flight tickets you purchased and the boarding passes for the airplane
*receipts from the hotel you stayed in and if you rented a car
*a notarized letter from your pastor saying that are a lady of honor and strong faith

Collect all these and organize them neatly in a binder.
Then go to trash heap and throw them all away, because you are never going to get a visa ever again.

I however do not understand the message you are passing with the very last parts of your first and second paragraphs as bolded above, especially the one in the second paragraph.... Can you categorically say you have answers to the questions posed? At what point did the requirements change, and what exactly are the known requirements as at today from a reliable source, a US government or consular reliable source I mean? SMH

Bankers are part of the reason why we're in this mess in the first place... do your research and you will understand what I'm talking about... by the way they hardly give any banker not in Management level visa nowadays.

It actually can take as little as 4 days and as much as even 7 months (I’ve seen both situations). Abuja paper route is faster. Work load generally is even reduced for them in their various offices worldwide at the moment it seems but let’s not in any way get carried away, different yardsticks so to speak applies to the different applications.

Online route has an hurdle that may be discomforting/delaying, i.e you have to send your passport in to them after the online approval, that journey in itself could take between a week and a month. CAN+ would have been your best option if you had a valid US visa, it’s almost comparable to the US Dropbox system, your application will be expedited and a few protocols jumped....

We can have further discussions on the “Canada Visit” thread sha, just in case.

I disagree with u based on recent altitude of the usa embassy in nigeria toward child birth applicant for visa renewer..go and check the reason for recently refuser then you will know their is a hidden agenda to the whole birth things especially towards nigerians applicant!

Stay back and have your baby, you have a b1/b2 visa and you are allowed to stay for 6 month and why the stress ,even you stay for 2 days and pay your bills..nobody can guranteee your usa visa renewal after childbirth..that the fact for now and you can see based on many Dubicious and unprofessional reasons of discount for refuser by the usa embassy in nigeria recently ..i wish you safe delivery

Me:4 months for birthing purpose and vacation

My worry now is the change of intent isn’t working again and if I return to Nigeria there’s a 50% chance I might be allowed in.i have the intention of returning back to the states by March to have my baby.im really confused as some persons are saying you are in already,stay and have baby and cope for the 6 months you have been stamped in for.6 months is a long time for me really considering my kids school.some are saying why waste money to go back to Nigeria and return again by March cos the officer will ask why u r back again when u just left in January and we all know you can’t declare for birthing purpose.im a confused being right now really

After my 221g interview, I contacted the hospital via email and they responded immediately explaining the circumstances concerning my bill and sent a letter typed on their letter head
On December 19th 2018, I was at the Lagos embassy with the letter I got from the hospital explaining in details the reason for the discount on my bill, the VO was not ready to listen to me cause she felt her colleague already made a decision during my last interview which she agreed with stating that there can’t be any justification for the discount( she was pointing at her computer screen while saying this ) she told me how expensive it was to have a baby in the USA and there was no way the amount I paid was realistic. I told her the amount she was emphasizing on was just my hospital bill and that I paid my doctors fees separately amongst other bills but she wouldn’t listen, I pleaded with her to at least read the letter, she said the letter was not the bill and she wasn’t interested.. it wasn’t a funny session, I begged her again to accept the letter as that was the only reason I schedule another interview, she then asked me to read it to her, while I was reading, the VO cuts in and insisted I had no case. she came up with other stuffs like I didn’t inform the embassy I was pregnant when I got the visa, told her I wasn’t pregnant and asked her to do the math( she actually counted and realized I wasn’t pregnant)also told her I sent a letter of Notification of intent( not change of intent) after I retuned from my first trip to the USA (2014)before my birthing trip(2015)and declared my intention upon arrival in the USA, and I was sent for secondary inspection. Then I tried persuading her again to have the letter (at this point I was in tears) she then asked why my trip to the US was so important to me? I told her the trip wasn’t but I will be applying for a study visa at another country’s embassy and I will be asked about any refusal from other embassies which I can’t lie about, a continuous refusal from the US embassy might jeopardize my chances of getting my study visa seeing that have been to the US severally(6 times)in the past and also it might affect my UK visa renewal in the future, she asked for the letter and all my bills and said the embassy will get back to me after further investigation. She then mentioned that I might get the visa and I might not, I told her I understood and thanked her for collecting the letter...
Tracked my visa status 1st of January... I was refused!
Picked up my passport today with my wrapped in the blue refusal paper...
My next visit will probably next year, hopefully the itemized bill issues would have be resolved.
My first visa was in 2014 renewed in 2016 without any issues...
My last trip to the USA was in April 2018

Good you are putting this out though. I however wonder if this refusal of your visa renewal could be birthing related - at least from all you have written here - on a more serious note, I greatly doubt that. @Ninab if I remember quite clearly did renew hers lately. She did use HNMC I think too, that comes cheap compared to the 10k+ yours costed you and the 15k+ you are advising too.

Something else may have gone wrong with your renewal because you stood on all fours with the US authorities per birthing processes from what one can deduce from your post, kindly put out a transcript in that direction too, if you haven't previously sha, it may help others and even you when others take a look too. It can't be this bad just yet, hardly....

Stop acting like you are the first African to migrate to the USA, millions migrated before you and more will migrate after you. I don't know your age but you have lots of growing up to do. To hell with you man!

@pemilabelle I advice you call the embassy and I hope you sort things out. And please, it is best you handle your things yourself as most so-called agents are notorious for messing things up after collecting huge sum of money. Good luck

This thread is for discussions on Visit Visa. You've been advised that you can apply for a Visit Visa to attend a program. But you were also advised not to work with a Visit Visa.

So if you insist on working, then this is the wrong thread for you as Visit Visa is for visiting and not working.


Securing work visa is not easy. This is because it's the company that wants to employ you that usually applies for the visa and they must convince the US government that no US citizen is qualified for the job and that you are the only one qualified. This is a tall order if you ask me.

You can however work with a student visa. But the cost of schooling in the US is so high that the money you make while working is barely enough. I doubt you even want to go through the rigours of schooling. So this is not your option.

So my personal advice is this: apply for a visit visa and if you get it, visit only and come back home. You can always visit many times thereafter. But don't work with the visit visa.

However note that you will have to demonstrate strong ties with Nigeria for you to get the visit visa. If you don't qualify for visit visa, then I suggest you don't waste money applying and wait till when you have gotten the required things that can be considered as strong ties.

Give most Nigerians a mile and we will take the entire Nation from you. The US unlike many others have been very generous with their fees and visas over the years, sadly we can no longer have this as we flout every of their regulation. And honestly i don't blame them at al. The Other fraction of Nigerians who keep(s) their visa rules are not spared at this time too.

my last renewal took 3 workings days, infact i got a call to pick up, i am here with heart attack over my passport cos i am about to loose the ticket to my first trip elsewhere this weekend and i submitted to renew since 26th November to visit in Jan.
