Who is a youth? The UN, the Commonwealth, The AU and Nigeria’s National Youth Policy give different definitions of what is a youth. According to the UN “Youth” is best understood as a period of transition from the dependence of childhood to adulthood’s independence and awareness of our interdependence as members of a community. Youth is a more fluid category than a fixed age-group.” The Commonwealth defines youth as 15-29 years of age. The African Youth Charter defines youth as “any individual between 15-35 years of age and seeks to resolve longstanding debates about defining youth within the African context and based on Africa’s development realities.” The Nigerian National Youth Policy defines youth as anyone between the age of 18 and 35. But in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, a youth is any unmarried person. Interesting to note that many young people who are married no longer attend YOuth programmes me and are also shy to attend programmes meant for Matured Men and women. I keep asking why is RCCG bringing more division to young people than uniting them. You see a young lady of 27, claiming not to be a youth because she is married, meanwhile in the same church, a lady of 33 will be encouraged to attend youth programmes? Is getting married the new validation of whether a young person will be regarded as being youth or not in the Redeemed Christian Church of God? |
What is the reason for the delay in payment of Scholarship for students? Has LASG stopped giving scholarship to indigene of Lagos? |
In my own opinion, Dangote should not be on the list neither should Chimamanda. Remember it is my opinion. Reason, I agree Dangote may be the richest in Nigeria...but that does not in any way amount to being influential. Remember it is my opinion. Tony Elumelu is more influential than Dangote. Tony Elumelu Foundation has positively influence many youths than Dangote businesses all combined. Dangote is a pure business man, nothing more. Influence is not based on financial strength alone but impact and giving back to the society. Remember it is my opinion. Who is Chimamanda influencing? Let's be realistic, Tacha of Big Brother Naija is more popular than Chimamanda. How many Africans read? Take nothing away from her, she's a good writer. But being influential goes beyond being a great writer. According to John C Maxwell: leadership is influence. To be influential is to be a leader. You become influential when your choice become people's choice and your stand become the stand of many. Yes! Adeboye is influential Yes! Dangote is the richest in Nigeria Yes! Davido is popular And Yes Chimamanda is a prolific writer. Only Adeboye qualifies for the word INFLUENTIAL among the 4 |
technuel:If only you had witness one of the crazy traffic in Lagos. A place you can trek in less than 15 minutes, you spend 1hr 30 mins simply because you were in a car. It is frustrating. Ajah to Abraham Adesanya round about is less than 15 minutes walk. But during traffic you can spend over 1hr to get there. Let govt approve for individual to to the road if they are not proactive enough |
plaindealer:Don't allow media to fool you. Can you tell us the location in Lekki? Those who reside in Lekki can affirm the truthfulness of the supposed work in progress |
plaindealer:If you had kept quiet, you would have been counted as a wise person. |
Today traffic was one of the worst in recent years. 2nd October 2019. Irresponsible government. Even if the people want to do the road by themselves, they won't allow |
Do you agree? Nigeria Independence has favoured the politicians more than the ordinary citizens. While Nigerians are thinking hard on the gains of the Independence since Oct 1st, 1960, Nigerian Politicians have a lot to celebrate. Let the politicians alone celebrate their independence |
I will not be surprised if these people have either being bribed or threatened to plead guilty. Our country is very reactive on issues |
kettykin:I feel your pain bro. but there is nothing you can do about it. One person definitely has to be the Chairman. That does not make others less qualified or more qualified. |
While the debate on who ought to be the Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council is still on-going among Nigerians online. Please find some striking similarities and differences between Prof. Adedoyin Salami and Prof. Charles Soludo. Prof. Salami was born in Ogun state (The state in the Southwest Nigeria which has produced the richest and highly educated Yorubas.) Prof Soludo was born in Anambra state (The state in the Eastern Nigeria which has produced the richest and highly educated Igbos) Prof. Salami had his doctorate degree in 1989 Prof, Soludo had his doctorate degree in 1989 Both of them are ECONOMISTS Prof. Salami was born on the 4th of April 1963 Prof. Soludo was born on the 28th of July 1960 Adedoyin Salami's research interests include issues in corporate long-term financial management; macroeconomic policy; corporate competitiveness and risk management; and characteristics of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). glink2015:Because as you have said, he has retired. Have you heard of the word ex-officio? That someone was the head of an organisation at one time does not mean he is better than everyone under him nor will he always be their leader in every endeavour. You first me graduate from school no mean say you go be my boss at workplace. |
Johnnyessence:Embezzle? Their assignment is to advise the government on economic matters not dealing with money. So I wonder where the embezzlement will come from. Besides, it is very bad to think ALL Nigerians are money-monger |
I feel that the write up above was copied from the thread I created at https://www.nairaland.com/5420749/meet-prof-doyin-salami-new Yet both Wikipedia and LBS were not reference. Prof. Salami, I pray your tenor will bring prosperity to our dear country, Nigeria. |
Just a little research will do. There was a thread I was reading where some people felt the Chairmanship position of the Economic Advisory Council (EAC) which has replaced the Economic Management Team should have gone to Prof. Charles Soludo while they downplayed the experience of the person (Prof Doyin Salami) they knew little about. Please read below a brief profile of Prof. Doyin Salami the new chairman of Nigeria's Economic Advisory Council. Alanpoza007:I mean no insult whatsoever. But if saying the truth is regarded as insult then I can't help it. Seyi Makinde was the most qualified among the aspirants and the most likely to win without any godfatherism, they saw his potentials before queuing behind him, Adelabu was only riding on the legacy of his late father. Having said that...you may want to direct me to the portion in the article were the type of agreement was given, otherwise...I will advise you to stop unnecessary ASSUMPTION AND SUPPOSITION |
GavelSlam:I find it easy to apologize but only when presented with facts not caption. You may take your time to read the article and see if you can pinpoint the agreement to be included in his government. For your information, below is the full details, I read content not just headlines. Four major opposition political parties in Oyo State have finally announced an alliance for Saturday’s governorship election. The four parties are the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP). These four, alongside the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Action Democratic Party (ADP), were considered the frontrunners for the governorship election. On Monday, they signed an agreement to present the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP, Seyi Makinde, as a consensus candidate for the March 9 election. The coalition meeting to form an alliance to tackle the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) started few days to the presidential and National Assembly elections. There was confusion over the weekend when two of the parties, ADC and ZLP, refuted that an agreement had been reached to support Mr Makinde. This was, however, resolved on Monday with the signing of the agreement. PREMIUM TIMES learnt that the discussions for the alliance was started by a former governor of the state who is the candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Adebayo Alao-Akala. Mr Alao-Akala had approached his former boss, Rashidi Ladoja, on the need for him to lead other opposition political parties to defeat the APC. Mr Alao-Akala was deputy governor when Mr Ladoja was elected governor in 2003. But, Mr Alao-Akala after a meeting with a former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, abandoned the group and aligned with the Adebayo Adelabu of the APC. The Director General of the PDP campaign, Bayo Lawal, and his counterparts in ADC, Bashiru Lawal; ZLP, MWaheed Akanbi and the head, SDP campaign committee, M. A. Oke jointly signed the agreement to tackle Mr Adelabu and APC with a promise to make details of the agreement public later. The signatories in the document obtained by PREMIUM TIMES Monday afternoon said that all the parties involved have agreed to present Mr Makinde as their sole candidate. “Agreement has been reached by members of the coalition parties to adopt Engineer Seyi Makinde as its gubernatorial candidate in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state. “Full details will be made available later on,” the parties said. With this endorsement of Makinde, the gubernatorial election is now a two-horse race between Mr Adelabu of APC and Mr Makinde of PDP. Please show us the content of the agreement which PREMIUM TIMES said would be made available |
onlinetomola:People like you are dangerous. You lie with confidence and fluency. otherwise show us proof of agreement you supposed |

Ceoking6:Now you see why I said he relied on stories. What you have said, is it not a story? |
Ceoking6:bros....no hard feelings. i beg hear yourself. Somebody publicly denied being in a possession of a certificate and you are saying for the person to know your grades it means he must have had your certificate. What if an imaginary grades were recorded for him? So if an organisation says I have A1 parallel in my WASC and i was confronted to provide the result, the court will say because an organisation has said it, that means I must have had it. Thats crap! Lets continue to manage Buhari until something happens |
This is interesting |
JUDGE KEEP ASKING FOR EVIDENCE FROM PDP But on certificate issue, he relied on stories from the military and the principal Nigeria we hail thee. I cant believe my ears when the judge said the Principal said Buhari WILL pass English and Mathematics and three subjects. If it is by what the teacher, principal or VC is saying then many people will have FIRST CLASS RESULTS |
koboko69:If you are sincere, you will know that the judge is holding brief for Buhari. He underplays PDP's evidence and argument and argue for APC protection. If this is how people are judge in Nigeria, I will never pray for anyone to have court case in Nigeria because they only activate which section of the constitution suits their candidate. |
Cleared |
Octopusbottle:Something happened in your acclaimed territory and you didnt know. If you are not current, you cannot be correct. Waiting for your apologies to th Op if you are a real person and not a robot |
Yes, Yes and Yes! |
nairavsdollars:Don't be deceived. Lagos has ONLY 20 Local Government Areas. The 57 LCDAs were created by Tinubu and not recognised by the constitution. Shomolu is a local government NOT LCDA....so the excuse does not add up |
How can 10 games give you over 3000 odds. Very impossible for normal games. That means each of his game will be a minimum of 2 odds. This to me is a way of promoting their business as the season as just resume. |
To be a Nigerian should have been a choice This country sucks! |
