You want to compare 20k to 200k?

Considering how cosmopolitan Lagos is, there is need for proper screening.

The aptitude test is handled by a private company called Dragnet so I presume the application fee is used to do all the miscellaneous spending.

Anyway, LASG is yet to pay over 80% of the 2018 scholarship awardees

PoliticsRe: Between Apapa And Ajah Traffic Which Is Worse? by Niorte(op): 10:21am On Apr 11, 2019
KakiP:
Currently I would say the Ajah traffic is worse, Apapa used to be difficult to get into but since they fixed the road from marine bridge up to floor mills traffic situation has been better going in and out, but you do not want to test Apapa traffic from Wednesday to Friday when the trailers come to the port to offload their containers. You have to be experienced to be able to find your way out of apapa (one way is always an option)
Thanks for your contribution. Ajah traffic is also at its peak on Fridays when all who have gone to work since Monday will be returning for the weekend.

The fear of traffic will not make one to sleep well except for weekend.
PoliticsBetween Apapa And Ajah Traffic Which Is Worse? by Niorte(op): 9:05pm On Apr 10, 2019
For those who live in Lekki Ajah axis, traffic is no longer a once in a while, it is now regular on a daily basis. The traffic can start as early as 5:30am. Major areas where traffic are intense are Sangotedo, Ajah Under bridge, Chevron, Chisco, Lekki Tollgate.

The normal time taken to drive from Ajah to Victoria Island is less than 20 minutes but with traffic, one will spend nothing less than 2 hours 30 minutes. I feel this Lekki Ajah traffic is getting out of control but I have heard people talking about Apapa traffic.

So I ask, between Apapa and Ajah traffic, which is worse?

May I also use this medium to plead with the Lagos State Government to create garage for buses in Ajah and also a pedestrian bridge. Lack of these have been identified to be part of the causes of the traffic.

PoliticsRe: NASS Leadership: Why Lawan And Gbajabiamila Should Not Be Elected by Niorte: 2:33pm On Mar 31, 2019
To be candid, Gbaja is the most qualified for the Speakership position but the Tinubu's influence is undesirable. He has been in the House for long and is the present majority leader. The Speakership fits him.

That a VP is from a zone does not stop another qualified person from the zone to emerge in position of authority.

Everyone bears his father's name. Everyone has his own ambition. We must treat each case on its own merit.

Federal character should only be applied for privileges and opportunities not for serious work that requires competence.

But the root cause is because people like Tinubu gather the Commonwealth of the people for themselves only. That's why some young ones are into Yahoo.

PoliticsHow APC Can Handle The Senate President Issue Before It Escalates by Niorte(op): 6:18am On Mar 28, 2019
APC is unarguably the party of the majority. It is expected that the majority lead the Senate. However, there is need for a party to respect its people's ambitions too.

It has become common practice in APC that SELECTION trumps above ELECTION. Selection reduces competitiveness and emphasize favouritism.

In a democratic nation like Nigeria, election should be allowed to thrive.

The question is: is Lawan more qualified than Ndume in leadership?

Are APC senators robots that cannot determine who lead them?

Everybody in the senate has been elected by Nigerians as their Representatives, hence everyone of them is qualified to vie for any position. We must pick competence over mediocrity.

SOLUTION
Let there be an internal election conducted for Lawan, Ndume and other APC senators interested in the senate president seat, and whoever wins can become the party's choice for the exalted office

If APC does not do this, they will have inner saboteurs which the PDP senators can leverage on.

It is because there is no check and balance. Some lecturers are proud to say nobody can have an A in their course.

That alone should be an offence, because why teach when you are not going to make a student excel in your course.

Students should be part of lecturers appraisal for promotion and appointment.

NYSCRe: Abuja School Rejected Corper Posted To It Based On His Faith: Photo by Niorte:
Nothing is bad in it.

It is a Christian school and all teachers are expected to impart Christian virtues on the students. When it is time for fellowship, all students and teachers are expected to participate.

The school has done the right thing. If it were a Muslim school, they would not have accepted Christian teacher too.

You can't change a school system because of a staff.

Let him be reposted to an Almajiri's or Muslim or Secular school.

We Christian don't like fight, he had been told before he starts claiming he has right to keep loooooong beards as an Alfa and when it is time to teach or have meeting, he might say he wants to go and pray.

Someone below says the school could have used the opportunity to show him the beauty of Christianity but do not forget, he will also have influence on the students who will gladly heed to his biddings because he is a Corper. (Students love and respect corps members more than their regular teachers). More over, remember, a little leavening leaveneth the whole lump. A drop of poo can make a tank of water undrinkable.

BusinessRe: CBN Eyes $10b Revenue From Palm Oil by Niorte: 5:46am On Mar 19, 2019
Nice move. But our government officials need to understand that agricultural economy is not based on farming activities only. Most times, they focus more on farmers which is just one of the actors in agricultural value chains. Other actors such as plant scientists, food technologists, marketers, distributors, reseacher, transporters etc are left to be on their own.

Agriculture can only be profitable when all actors of the value chains are involved.

Like a distinguished professor once said, Nigeria problem is not production but processing and preservation.

We are the largest producer of Yam, what are we doing with yam?

We are the largest producer of cassava, what are we doing with cassava? Only garri and fufu MAINLY.

WE are the 13th largest producer of tomatoes in the world, what are we doing with tomatoes? Mainky to make soup.

Meanwhile, we could start production of ketchup, tomato puree, tomato paste and even tomato juice.

IT IS TIME TO FOCUS ON ALL ACTORS IN THE AGRICULTURAL VALUE CHAINS AND NOT JUST THE FARMERS.

PoliticsDifferences Between Police And Army In Their Duties by Niorte(op): 7:39am On Mar 15, 2019
What is the difference between the police and the military?

The military and and law enforcement are similar in that they are both 'legal bearers of arms' meaning they legally have the right and even obligation to carry weapons and use force. They are different in what they use force for.

The police use force for the enforcement of the law. Their main goal is to capture the subject, by contrast the main goal of a soldier is to kill their opponent. Soldiers used as an occupation force will serve as police to capture unruly civilians not just shoot them as they would a combatant.

Another difference is training. Like said before police serve a different purpose so police are trained more for peace keeping and apprehension than combat. Soldiers are trained for combat first then apprehension and peace keeping last.

Police are trained to be less aggressive than soldiers and not shoot or threaten to shoot as the first action to gain cooperation.

The last difference is who they are used against. Police deal with the civilian and domestic population and are trained as such. Soldiers deal with combatants and foreign populations and are also trained accordingly. Basically the police control the population and enforce the law, soldiers control and enforce the borders.

Someone wrote:
They have rather different roles, and hence rather different training and equipment.

The role of the police is to suppress civilian criminal activity, maintain public order and safety, and keep citizens safe from crime. The role of the military is to deter hostile invasions from other countries, and to engage in combat operations overseas to support a country’s interests there. Basically, the police’s job is to make sure everyone within a given country is obeying the law and take action to make sure people don’t break it. The military is to stop other countries invading, and/or invade other countries.

Apart from the fact that both are armed and sometimes have to use deadly force, they are quite different. For instance, the police spend a lot of time looking for evidence of criminal activity and using this to arrest suspects and have them formally charged in court. The military doesn’t care about charging anyone in court- they simply engage the enemy in combat and hopefully defeat them. The police are intended to spend much of their time interacting with civilians who they are supposed to protect, whereas the military is designed to engage with hostile enemy forces.

They are both armed and occasionally end up in combat situations, but the military is much more heavily geared towards this role. Meanwhile, the police have additional legal powers that are required for their job; they can arrest people and detain them pending criminal charges, they can seize property as evidence, they can enter private property to search for evidence (although this and some other powers may require a warrant to authorise their use). The military does not have these powers.

The military quite deliberately has no standard law enforcement role, the rationale being that in a democratic society, a government should never turn its armed forces against its own citizens. However, many countries will use the military to support the police if a situation becomes too dangerous for the police to handle on their own. For instance, Mexico is using its military forces in the fight against the drug cartels, as the situation there has gone way beyond the capacity of local police forces to handle. The British government famously used its SAS military special forces in the 1980 Iranian embassy siege, as the police force at the time didn’t have the resources to handle a situation like that.

Soldiers make poor police, and police make poor soldiers. Soldiers and police are used for entirely separate functions and are trained very differently.

The purpose of soldiers is to protect the body politic from enemies of the state, from external threats. They exist to protect the people from invasion and to project force in their interest. They accomplish their means with direct and indirect application of force, primarily killing the soldiers of an enemy state and destroying its infrastructure.

The purpose of police forces is to provide domestic security to the body politic. They aid and support the people, and capture criminals. They act as a deterrent against crime and a reaction force to it. They function as stewards of the people, rendering aid and comfort in time of need. A police officer can go an entire career without ever drawing his sidearm in the line of duty, yet still have performed long and valuable service.

The essential difference is that function of a soldier is to exert force on behalf of the body politic, while police provide aid and security, which can be done without force. Never forget, at least in the US, apart from MPs and similar jobs, all police officers are CIVILIANS. Police are constituted of the people to aid the people.

When this distinction is forgotten, it inevitably leads to tyranny. Soldiers fight the enemies of the state. When they are used for domestic policing, the people tend to become the enemies of the state.

i saw Yusuf Buhari's NYSC discharge pic and he was looking so haggard and clearly still suffers a lot of pains.

he use to be a very cheerful and nice looking guy.

you see him you instantly know he is the kind of guy that wants to make everybody around him happy. its very clear he inherited his mothers kind heart.

but look at him now - look into his eyes and tight lips and you will see he still suffers so much pains from the bike accident.

in as much as i don't like his father largely due to his meanness and nonchalant attitude to other peoples pains , i still believe yusuf doesn't deserve what happened to him. sins of the father shouldn't be visited on the offspring.

besides, its not yusuf's fault that his parents are very rich therefore he has every right to enjoy his father's wealth. if he chooses to buy a private jet, so long as he can source the fund for it, he should buy it and it should take him to wherever he desire with it safely!

I wish Nigerian youths should just STOP bashing him but rather say some prayers for the poor innocent boy he has really suffered enough.

We as Nigerians are generally known for our kind heart. please find it in you to say a little decent and healing pray for this innocent boy.

May healing find him. may heavens grant him total healing. Amen.
What's your own? Did he complain to you? Do you have a personal relationship with him?

May the children of wicked leaders and looters of the Commonwealth of Nigeria be troubled forever except they refuse to eat the king's meat from their father's table.

What suffering is more than what an average Nigerian suffers?
Did he struggle to go to work? Is he being paid less than 250000 monthly?

Somebody who can feed your generation, you are saying he is suffering. You are just an attention seeker. And you will have overdose of it here
