Politics › Re: Residents Warn Against Uncontrollable Chaos Over Lekki Tolling - SaharaReporters by nkilirox(f): 12:10am On Dec 13, 2011 |
The sad thing is that people whose roads aren't improved at all will have to still pay for all the toll gates, like those in Sangotedo and beyond. They're not getting additional lanes or the fancy water fountain, nor are they getting everything in their communities that will decrease their need to go into the rest of Lagos. I mean why not put in all the alternatives into place first before charging? Unfortunately the "alternate routes" do not really count, that short cut through Oniru can barely withstand the traffic from the residents, by the time it sees its traffic triple or quadruple over night, you're going to have bigger potholes, an increase in crime and unbelievable traffic. The actual alternate route for the first roundabout is the Lekki - Ikoyi bridge, that is not yet completed. Lets be honest, most Lagosians know that this toll is actually just going to line the pockets of BAT and his well placed people. This is not about loans or financing, its about greed. Based on the numbers already given by LCC, we already know that a concession (if needed) is not needed for more than 10years to adequately cover the cost of the loan, which taxpayers have already paid for, |

I think people should stop believing this love conquers all, that mess is only for the movies. It doesn't work in real life. If you need a real life current example on why you should stay on your level, just remind yourself of the 9ice/Toni Payne wahala. She should have never married a vulcanizer who barely speaks henglish, knowing that she was an overly pampered Cali girl who has been flying minimum business class since dem born am. |

quantumgal: We have been dating for 5 months now and about two months into the relationship, he started borrowing money from me to pay for bills, put gas in the card, by cigarettes and sometimes even food. At that point, he was unemployed. He has since found a job but manages to squander his pay within a week of getting paid. He has since come back to borrow even more from me although he has not repaid in whole what he previously owned me. He has explained that all this paychecks had gone towards settling old debts which I believe but his financially irresponsible lifestyle frightens me. He has started talking about serious commitment while asking me to help top up his phone credit. He is 37 and I am 10 years younger. He is most caring and nice as a person but unstable in the sense where he does not seem to manage to keep a job down, quickly blames the outside world for his failures, says that he is not ashamed to ask for handouts and does not adjust his lifestyle to fit his finances i.e spending money that even people with steady income do not spend. I do not know how to tell him that I find it unmanly for a man to be running around asking for money left and right (he even asks his mother and younger sisters) and that although I would love the idea of settling down, I fear that rushing in with him will end up making me loose my own balance (this month only 1/3 of my salary has already gone out to him). All opinions welcomed. Thanks. ewooo, you're financing him and he will use your money to get in a better position in life and dump you for someone sharper than you. |

Her reaction seems over the top to you because you're not the one who is being manhandled by these fools. Furthermore which idiot of a politician is this? tolutara: I say the below at the risk of being told the reason why I am voicing my opinions is because i can't afford it. Let put that aside for now.
I feel a lot of women should stop being so darn materialistic. Gosh!
Weave $450, Gucci bag $375 ,Prada shoes $485, Vera Wang shades $180 , Fendi wallet $120, House of Dereon Bangles $85, Movado Wristwatch $165, the list is endless, Amount of cash in the Fendi wallet $45, credit card debt over $5000. SMH.
I Can understand women wanting to look good, but at what expense?. Some women have no savings for a rainy day especially when they have kids depending on them but will spend all of the above reckless in one day. Scourging through endless magazines trying to stay fly ,when u have real women making real dough.
I actually feel the most sorry for the men. I can understand the conflict of wanting your woman to look really good but at what expense? I feel that the average woman as a consumer Mentality, always consuming but hardly producing,
My humble opinion BTW I am a woman. Like eldee said "is it your money?" Why u dey take panadol for someone else's headache bikonu? Also don't forget that just because you can't afford to comfortably spend excessively on luxury goods doesn't mean the next woman can't or just because she owns several expensive items means she has no savings. Bottom line, focus on yourself and stop worrying about the next person. Today its what she spends, tomorrow it will be how she kpanshes her man, e no consain you |

abxnng: This is culled from Ynaija.com.
This Azuka lady needs therapy. My GOD!
"Watching the dregs of Azuka’s supporters trying to put up a defence for her on this forum and on facebook pages, Linda Ikeji’s blog, and Uduak’s Blog confirm the following:
1. Azuka has handed her people the short end of the stick on this one. 2. Onyeka Onwenu is way out of Azuka’s league. She’s a woman of class. Well educated and articulate. 3. She’s taken the battle to a level Azuka and her people can only dream of every reaching hence they are finding it hard to respond appropriately. 4. There is something sinister about Azuka’s attacks on Toni Payne.
There’s no substance to her allegations against Toni Payne and it is recommended that she should apologize and desist from attacking Toni or anyone at all unfairly.
I have some questions for Azuka and her supporters. 1. Is it true that when you had your baby, out of wedlock, you pinned it on a respectable married man who happened to have paid you for a one-night stand. You did everything you could to wretch his marriage and when he eventually asked for a DNA test, you ran and you were never seen by him or his family again? 2. Is it true that you have pinned this Chidera daughter of yours on over four men before you were able to find someone to accept her has his? 3. Is it true that your boss Nduka Ogbiagbena sleeps with you at will and pimps you out to Nigerian governors and that is why no matter what you do, he will never sack you from ThisDay? 4. Is it true that you are Mr. Ogbiagbena’s love-vendor – organising girls for him and his friends and associates on call? 5. Is it true you entered into a power play based on your escapades with Nduka with your Style Editor, Ruth Osime. You wanted to unseat her because you have bottom power with Nduka and Ruth ended up pushing you out of the style desk. You were an orphan till the Saturday Editor, Ijeoma took you on. 6. Is it true that you can’t write anything yourself. Started your career with colleagues doing stories for you and you always have a house boy on the side who writes and you claim ownership. Is it true that your closeness with the Lanre Alfred and his brother has to do with them loaning you their stories to make up your pages. Is it true to Odu Black was your most recent love-vendor in this regard and when he left via the scandal of collecting money from people on your behalf you were left with no abiliy to write hence paying penalties at thisday for always bringing in your content late? Is it true that you are a cut-and-paste journalist and that press releases you get end up verabatim published by you? 7. Is it true that you destroyed the relationship between Omo and Kemi? And want to pressurize Omo to marry you by all means? Though Omo is younger than you, even beats you up, and ill treats you in everyway. You would do anything to answer Mrs Omo Nobody just to spite Kemi? 8. Is it true that you owe millions to fashion retailers in Lagos? You go to their shops, use THisday to collect merchansdize running into hundreds of thousands of Naira and disappear into thin air. When they demand their money, you threaten them with nasty stories about them and their marriage in the press? 11. It is true that you were pimping some crazy stories about IBB’s daughter-in-law which were being sponsored by her rival till it landed the rival with a sack from the family by Mariam before she passed? You joined hands with Moriam Musa to get this done and destory a home? 10. Is it true that you ran a N12 extortion scam against Andy Uba and shared the money with your co-conspirators – Lanre Alfred and CHarles Nwagbara? 11. Is it true that three years ago, you were diagnosed with HIV/Aids and hence your intense weight loss, which you now cover up with a fake weight loss programme? Is it true that you know your days are numbered hence your reckless behaviour. You don’t care about tomorrow. You don’t care if you live or die? And you want to take as many people as you can to hell with you?" POW! #1 - 5 are known truths, Azuka has some nerve insinuating anyone is a slut or groupie, her messy personal life should discredit her enough |

Oatmeal with some fruit and protein is an excellent breakfast to jump start weight loss. It's a complex carbohydrate that will take your body longer to break down and will keep you fuller longer. Like has already been said, if you overeat anything, (i.e. take more than your daily caloric requirement) you will gain weight. |

Christianity Etc › Re: My Friend's Wedding Was Cancelled! by nkilirox(f): 9:47pm On Sep 23, 2010 |
oludashmi: And is pregnancy before marriage or abortion the way of salvation? Lets think about it, there is no community without a law/rule/regulation, if your community says this is what they want, you have the option to stay within that location and obey their rules or relocate to another community that accommodates your opinion or belief.
You cant blame any church for this cos the couple to be were aware of the laid down doctrines before they signed their marriage counseling forms and in the course of time, they agreed to follow the doctrine in as much as they will wed in that church, SO WHY SHOULD THE CHURCH BE BLAMED? YOU CANT EAT YOUR CAKE AND HAVE IT!!
If the church will not wed them cos of this, they have an option to go for registry and traditional wedding or when did it become a must for pple to do church wedding if not for all this COME AND SEE ME MENTALITY THAT WE HAVE.
The traditional wedding is the most important cos this is where the bride price is paid, it is where both parties come with witnesses, agreement for the union and it is the covenant that God stands on. While registry is the consent of the government of that land and agreement that they are henceforth couples. Isn't it possible that this couple made a mistake and had sex once and immediately repented and asked for forgiveness? so God has forgiven them, but some church has chosen to override God's forgiveness? Thank God, he is God and not human like us! |

omar22: Parents do Abuse kids thinking that they are punishing them, some do have a permanent damage to the Child
I once failed to promote from form 4 to form 5, my parents called me all the names in the world, i couldnt touch the TV, video, stereo, I couldnt go out, I couldnt ask for food before they reminded me about my recent result,
Practically I was called a failure and fortunately for me I made amendments,
Because you fail doesnt mean your a failure, failure is an event not a person, but our parents would bang it constantly to a point that you would accept that your a failure,
An English parent would say Better luck next time, meaning you could do better, encouraging the child to do better,
But beating a child because he failed is purely child abuse So you wanted them to reward your poor performance? That's what is wrong with America today, they've been rewarding mediocrity for too many generations that they have been outpaced academically by Asians, and now look to Asia for everything. Better luck next time is not the appropriate response for failure, it's not about luck, it's about preparation. I think taking away all your luxuries so you could focus on your school work is appropriate punishment for poor performance. |

Would the church have preferred her having an abortion? What if the couple had sex and repented of their sin and asked God for forgiveness nko? Is RCCG now saying that even if God forgives, they are higher than God?
I have serious problems with BS like this. It seems that the church is more interested in condemning people than leading them to the way of salvation |

I'm so sick of people referring their children to me to help them find "executive jobs like mine, after all if we're age mates, their children too can be managers like me" but when you see the sorry sacks of shit they call children, who went to university abroad, didn't even find time to do an internship while there and who came back for NYSC 3 years ago and have remained jobless, you just say, ok aunty and trash the CV.
They forget that my parents did not coddle me like they coddle their 27 - 32yr olds leeches. I got my first job before I entered university and have been working just about every day for the past 15 years, that's why I qualify as a manager. Could my parents have afforded to give me the same lifestyle as they gave their children, absolutely, but they didn't want this problem on their hands. Now I too have come back home and am just saddened by these oafs fooling themselves in Lagos and environs. |
