Computer, internet, phone, house, car, people, associates, there's very little satan can not/has not penetrated and is monitoring. Unless they are not interested in you, is the only way you escape this constant monitoring of every personal detail. |
Makschinchin:hm, I think you mean anko, it's alright if people can afford it but if not, then choir robes might be an option. Otherwise, I guess the choir can use their discretion. |
. |
Makschinchin:No opinion per se, I had the same colours down to the shoes, just in a different combination, so I was surprised that's all. What are your thoughts about choir robes? |
Impressive. |
scholes0:Yes, Lagos dialect and standard or central Yoruba are similar to the Egba dialect, in addition to Oyo. The Egba language in my opinion, might just be a little bit slower in intonation, like they place more emphasis on words and do not rush when speaking. I think most or many Oyo speakers might switch between Oyo and standard Yoruba when communicating, especially if they're a millennial generation/younger, although I couldn't say for sure. But in other parts of the southwest, a lot of people can speak both their dialects and standard Yoruba. |
So where did you get this instant photo of choristers dressed in green and white and with cream coloured dress shoes? Just wondering. Never mind, I found it on pinterest. https://www./356488126751480184/ |
PrimadonnaO:Dressing anyhow doesnt mean your mind is on God. In Nigerian culture, you dress well when going to church, that's how you honour God. Besides, our traditional outfits are naturally very colourful. |
I would rather hear complaints that someone's dressing in church is too chic, than complaints about how their dressing is causing unholiness, etc. |
thanta:They dont know that. |
I'm ok with people dressing well for church. Take time to assess your dressing and make sure your appearance would pass the smell test. And no, you dont have to be rich to dress neatly, simple dressing can also be impressive. We hear so many complaints about ladies' dressing, it's better if your dressing evokes compliments and confidence rather than ungodliness and complaining. So OP be careful how you complain about people dressing well for church. Note: my reference is Nigerian churches, we place emphasis on how people dress for church or other social gatherings. |
googi:By Oyo dialect do you mean standard Yoruba dialect? The central Yoruba which is mutually intelligible across the southwest is a standardized form based on the Oyo dialect, it's not the actual dialect itself which btw is also intelligible everywhere in Yorubaland. Lagos Yoruba is a modernized form and includes many "slang" words which together with regular ones, are often condensed in order to have faster communication. |
He's Nigerian, someone made the same argument on nairaland I think. Seems because Nigeria had not been legally formed at the time, some folks are arguing that means he wasn't Nigerian. He's Nigerian. |
etrange:I'm telling you now my question was not a sarcastic one. Stop implying it was. I am also just posting, bro. You just happened to quote me and here we are. It's a forum designed for quoting, if you see a post you want to quote, the forum allows you to do so, as long as you're not quoting in error or to kiss ass. |
d33types:I think she was from Delta state, not sure of the husband's ethnicity. |
etrange:@ sarcasm, that's your opinion, not mine. @ unappealing, too bad, shrugs. You're the one making reference to other kid/s and claiming what you said was not what you mean. Making someone an out cast is not good regardless of vintage points. Nobody deserves to be labelled in such a manner Besides, Davido might be rich but the concept is not selective; it also affects the poor who might not be able to bear the heat and that alone is enough reason to condemn it totality. We know this one cause the father is a popular figure, there are a lot of other people suffering the same fate out there. Our voice may not matter but let it be on record that the younger generation is not in for such segregation.hm, well, talk to the people who made the statement, I'm just posting on the thread. |
Inserting satan into every topic about Yoruba, does not end the discussion. |
You people should leave this pandora's box alone. You're too excitable and dont think before jumping to conclusions. |
etrange:The statement is just ambigious, because you also mentioned the mother is not Yoruba, whereas none of his girlfriends are, with the exception of another lady. Regardless of the point of view, it's still a form of segregation that should not be encouraged.Right and wrong are subjective sometimes. While I agree making someone an outcast is not good, at the same time remember vantage points differ. An outcast who is very wealthy for example, does the outcast status still matter? |
I wonder who all the claptrap on this thread is meant for. |
I wonder what the point of that story was. |
alfonso36:Please stay off my mentions, we have no common ground. Kiss ass without involving me, thanks. I'm typing here doesn't mean you should feel emboldened to quote me just because you want to impress the op or because he only gets satisfaction by your doing so. |
So if Peter wears Yoruba outfit and cap, some folks would scatter nairaland. |
Geminita1:Alright. It's not like I watched it anyway. |
sisisioge:Crackhuzz, this is for you. Na your epistle book space pass. Always eager to criticize whatever he sees in others. |
crackhaus:I know you so much dislike the notion of anyone not kissing your ass, however you've been here a while and you're aware not everybody kowtows to your bigoted take on every issue. At some point, you might begin to respect other people's opinions besides your own. Not that anyone thinks you'll ever change. So, keep your fantasy gif showing who you wish you were, to yourself. You're still Nigerian. |
Geminita1:Hahahaha, were you on bbnaija? We can go with your version anyway. |
Yonce:Are these the truth or lies? Hyperbole perhaps? |
TwoBottles:Are you saying women cant feel decent around you? ![]() |
etrange:Why did you say older child when you know he has many children? Your post is confusing. Which child do you mean? And how does calling the boy an Igbo name make him less Yoruba? Yorubas should also call him a Yoruba name too nah. Why is it so complicated?I wasn't the one who made the comment, I'm just aware of it. The outcast thing is from a Yoruba pov, which is not the same as what you're thinking of. |
Geminita1:Well, they decided to include body odour in her/their script, it can always be rewritten another way. And if not, then people have various choices including commenting if they perceive any smell, avoiding her or she can use perfume as you said. |

My dear bbn is a reality show. There is no acting anywhere, everything you see in the house is as real as they come.
