It unfortunate that we, Nigerians use our own words to cut down ourselves.....when someone says your relative is a thief, you don't join them to kill him, you defend him then tell him the truth in private and about the to change.

Pascopele:
I recommended a man to a lady friend of mine. The guy was not working but was doing a few things to survive. I told her "he is very humble, well behaved and reserved. He is not excited about partying or beer. He should be the best man for you." And based on my recommendation, she dated him. And then boom, he got a job... , the humble man disappeared. All of a sudden he become another person. She came back to me crying... And now I have come to understand, "some people are not humble, they are just broke"... Never trust the loyalty and humbless of a broke person... If you are going to date a broke person, be ready for anything. If you get a "yes sir" from a broke person, don't trust it much. Wait until they have money and see how they are going to insult you. Most of these People are not humble. It is just lack of money that humbled them.

Stop being a crybaby. Nothing wrong with specifying their race. If anything, it's even commendable for the OP to have indicated their race, because now the world knows that not all Black men eat every wildlife animal they come across, unlike some black people in Nigeria that see whale or dolphin washed ashore and shout see meat, food don land etc, like the brother below grin

Are they not Black men? Shuuuuu, nawa oh

Culture › It's Rather Challenging Trying 2 "Civilize" Nigerians, I Don't Think I Can Do It by nlPoster(op): 5:16pm On Oct 23, 2019
As the anomaly who doesn't match any known stereotype, it's so hard giving people a reason to be civilized when being uncivilized pays better.

And where does a person even start from?

For example, how do you tell people disliking someone is not a criminally prosecutable offence with the penalty of jail time? Meaning not liking somebody is not a reason why they should be in jail.

Should they have to be told to begin with? huh

And when behaviours that SHOULD be criminally prosecutable, are given as the gold standard for acceptable public social interaction, where exactly does that leave the so called "civilized" ones? Not in a good place.

I mean, I don't know them but they have an uncanny resemblance to some people I'm acquaintances with.

Raalsalghul:
There's nothing like Karma.

You can get away with bad deeds if you're smart.

Case in point: Nigeria's leaders.

But I prefer doing good cos it makes me feel good.

And I can't remember a time I've been rewarded for it.
Doing good is sometimes because someone is too lazy to do bad, there's a level of smartness and cunning that people possess which enables them to have the boldness and braggarts associated with evil doing.
Culture › Re: 30 Things You Should Know About Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther by nlPoster:
-By the age of 10 or thereabouts, he had people working for him, he was an entrepreneur or something like that.

- He was from the Obatala priesthood although unfortunately, his mum, an Obatala priestess, was sold into slavery but he was able to redeem her (I'll doublecheck this story)

- He and his relatives were captured in the Oyo region, but he later found his mother, uncle and sisters in Abeokuta after his return to Nigeria

-His father survived the raid that brought Samuel Ajayi Crowther into slavery, however, he (his father) was captured in another raid later on

-His mother was one of his first Christian converts in 1848.
