bellong: It is really unfortunate. I know one other person that got negative assessment as Economist from Vetasses. And unfortunately, I couldn't find another occupation for the person. Why not consider your spouse occupation if you are married provided that the occupation is on the list? |

bevybay: You need to upload all your documents online since you are doing an online application so you don't need to send any document to them. I would advise you to go for the fast track because it is possible to get the outcome within 24hrs. |

bellong: That's great news! Did you also add additional qualification or just your 1st Degree? I know of someone that did Geology from Uni Benin that got negative assessment etc. |

ugonology: I know Geologist is on the CSOL list, which means you can either be sponsored by a state, regional area, employer or family. The first thing however is to determine if your occupation cum your qualification will receive positive assessment. How many years did you spend in the University? If you did a 4-year degree, you won't get positive assessment from VETASSES because they equate Nigerian 4-year degree to Australian 3years Associate Degree which is less than the minimum requirement for Geology here.. However, if you did a 5-year degree, then you will get positive assessment. |

tyosho: Thanks for this detailed information. Vetassess usually do not equate most Nigerian 4-years degrees to Australian Bachelor degrees but rather an Associate degrees which will result to negative assessment mostly. The individual I asked question on her behalf has BSc.Economics but unfortunately got negative assessment due to the issue I mentioned above. So, I'm considering if she could give external auditor with ICAA a go. |

Franzeez: I do not see any issue since you have submitted the form 1023. Your application will be considered accordingly. It shows nobody is above mistake, they too understand that. Personally, I haven't experienced such thing before neither do I know anybody. Relax, you have done the right thing. |

johnsontade: To claim points from your employment, you really need to back up your claims with enough supporting documents as it had been mentioned previously. The economy is thriving though not like during mining boom era. As per job wise, you really need to be on top of your game to get something in your field eventhough construction industry is thriving at the moment. You might need to go for some Tafe courses and probably go for some volunteering jobs. However, I strongly believe in God's favour making ways even where there seems to be no way. |

johnsontade:Good one! Indeed, it's been a while. Although I always read comments on the thread. With your good IELTS result, you can quickly go for your assessment. The goodnews now is there is fasttrack path which you rightly mentioned. I know of someone that got her positive assessment within 24hrs. It would be good if you could get supporting documents for your NYSC period because that would help you to get 5 points on experience. Otherwise, you would be at the mercy of states which is very slow these days, particularly, NSW. You could give PTE-A a go and see if you could make 20points from it to boost your points and then go for 189. |

aolatunde00: Congrats on your positive assessment. Really, you could have just applied for skilled independent visa-189 since you have 60 points. But checking through occupation ceilings for this financial year, you are only left with State nominations. And the only state that I know that their nomination is very fast is South Australia. However, they have fewer opportunities compare to NSW whose nomination process is very slow. Could please advise the house the occupations you previously nominated, your qualification and years of experience so that others can learn from your experience? pingu2k5: |

KIKIADE:The following information will assist you: Australia is a wealthy country; it generates its income from various sources including mining-related exports, telecommunications, banking and manufacturing. It was identified by the Credit Suisse Research Institute as the nation with the highest median wealth in the world and the second-highest average wealth per adult in 2013. In terms of average wealth, Australia ranked second in the world after Switzerland in 2013, although the nation's poverty rate increased from 10.2% to 11.8%, from 2000/01 to 2013. Australia is the world's twelfth largest economy and has the fifth highest per capita GDP (nominal) at $66,984. he country was ranked second in the United Nations 2011 Human Development Index and first inLegatum's 2008 Prosperity Index. Melbourne reached top spot for the fourth year in a row on The Economist's 2014 list of the world's most liveable cities, followed by Adelaide, Sydney, and Perth in the fifth, seventh, and ninth places respectively. The service sector of the economy, including tourism, education, and financial services, accounts for about 70% of GDP. Agriculture and natural resources account for only 3% and 5% of GDP respectively, they contribute substantially to export performance In 2013, there are about 650,000 New Zealand citizens living in Australia,[2] which is about 15 per cent of the population of New Zealand. Although the economy is slowing down recently but that is not a reason not to consider Australia if you have the opportunity. 1 Like 1 Share |

mPop: If your visa is about to expire and you apply for post-study visa, you would be given a bridging visa as soon as you lodge. The bridging visa would take effect as soon as your student visa expires pending the time your post-study visa would be granted. 1 Like |

Fortunate20: Check information on ANMAC website to see their requirements. You still have almost one year which I think it is more than enough to sort things out. What you need to focus on is how to meet the requirement of your registration which is meeting at least 7,7,7,7 or equivalent in English test and which will also contribute immensely to your points. I have no doubt that you would meet the required points considering likely points you would get in Australian study , age, English test and qualification. And besides, you are entitled to post-study visa. Start preparing for your English test now. 1 Like 1 Share |

bukenken:What you need to do is to take a look at both SOL/CSOL and check what occupation is relevant to you. I would advise you not to consider any occupation that Engineers Australia is the assessing body, it won't fly because of your non-engineering background. Check ACS to see whether your present work experience matches anything related to an occupation they assess. |

KIKIADE: I strongly plead with you to look for the money and include them in your application at once. You will even benefit more by bringing them with you. Your children would be entitled to Tax benefits right from day one that they enter Australia, although this is subject to income. We are talking about roughly 1500AUD per fortnights. You could actually recoup the money within 1 month of their arrival. Applying separately for them could take longer time than necessary. So, be guided accordingly. 2 Likes |

okpas12: As it is, you have 45points without the English test. You need at least 10points from English test for you to be eligible for any visa. Department of immigration would refer to your letter for the purpose of awarding points for your experience; since it is stated on your letter that you have 3yrs, then you would be awarded 5points and nothing more. Focus on our English test and make sure you get at least 7,7,7,7 (IELTS)/ 65,65,65,65 (PTE A). Goodluck in your test. |
