Does it contain the course content and description.

I think you can appeal the decision.

Alternatively, you can find an occupation the associate degree can fit into and go for it. It doesn't matter if you come in as an associate, you can always get a job you want in your field of expertise.

It is really unfortunate. I know one other person that got negative assessment as Economist from Vetasses. And unfortunately, I couldn't find another occupation for the person. Why not consider your spouse occupation if you are married provided that the occupation is on the list?

You need to upload all your documents online since you are doing an online application so you don't need to send any document to them. I would advise you to go for the fast track because it is possible to get the outcome within 24hrs.

He can get a positive assessment depending on where he studied his geology. OAU is a four year geology degree and I got a positive assessment.

I think they have some selected universities that they treat their four year degree to be equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree.

That's great news! Did you also add additional qualification or just your 1st Degree? I know of someone that did Geology from Uni Benin that got negative assessment etc.

hello mr 2posh, NNBB2012, bossladymo1, please i will humbly need your input on this...am a graduate of geology and have ever since i graduated from the university been searching and scratching for any relevant information that will lead to my permanent migration to australia. i have gone through the (SOL) but unfortunatly my occupation is not listed, but it is listed on the (CSOL). Now problem is, i have alot of confusion with (CSOL) as i dont precisely know if it is state norminated or employer nominated, if it is either of the two, or even both, how then will one get the state or an employer to sponsor him or her. Do you just apply for a job in australia and seek that the employer sponser your visa?......please i crave your soothing comments and inputs on this.

I know Geologist is on the CSOL list, which means you can either be sponsored by a state, regional area, employer or family. The first thing however is to determine if your occupation cum your qualification will receive positive assessment. How many years did you spend in the University? If you did a 4-year degree, you won't get positive assessment from VETASSES because they equate Nigerian 4-year degree to Australian 3years Associate Degree which is less than the minimum requirement for Geology here.. However, if you did a 5-year degree, then you will get positive assessment.

Sorry it took a while to respond.Hubby studied accounting at a state university and finished with a 2.2.He presently works with an insurance organisation that examines the financial records of banks. His first assesment was with Vetassess as an internal auditor but he was given a negative mark.
Next he tried with Icaa as an external auditor but it was noticed that at least one compulsory course was missing from the transcript he submitted! So he withdrew the assesment from Icaa and went back to his school to request for a new transcript. After about 6months,he got the new transcript and applied again to Icaa using his previous documents.
P.s- he included his positive WES assesment this second time around.Hes a member of ACAA but he's not written any exams with them. This November makes his post nysc work experience 5years.

Thanks for this detailed information. Vetassess usually do not equate most Nigerian 4-years degrees to Australian Bachelor degrees but rather an Associate degrees which will result to negative assessment mostly.

The individual I asked question on her behalf has BSc.Economics but unfortunately got negative assessment due to the issue I mentioned above. So, I'm considering if she could give external auditor with ICAA a go.

Hello everyone,

I applied for my 189 with all the necessary stuff, then I noticed a catastrophic mistake I made about 2 months after lodgement. I made a mistake while filling my passport number in all the forms and my health declaration form. I actually typed the letter O in place or number 0 as my passport number. My passport number is A05...... I was typing AO5..... I feel so stressed and worried. I called and I was advised to fill the 1023 form for incorrect answer, I have done and sent. I was fortunate to notice when I needed my passport number to access an online exam which logs me in with my passport number only, so I copied from my emedical letter which has my passport number, then It said incorrect passport number, then I knew there was a problem. So I checked and I saw the error I made. I feel so disappointed with myself and I will be more disappointed if I am denied cos of this.

Dear Nairalanders, does anyone have an information on if this constitutes a serious risk? Has anyone experienced filling that 1023 form for incorrect answer and still got the grant. Pls and pls can someone tell me something I feel depressed and mad at myself for making that mistake.

Cc Justwise and other gurus pls abeg help.

I do not see any issue since you have submitted the form 1023. Your application will be considered accordingly. It shows nobody is above mistake, they too understand that. Personally, I haven't experienced such thing before neither do I know anybody. Relax, you have done the right thing.

The problem is that i was paid cash all through my youth service with no payslip, tax or pension statement to back it up or do you think my 6 month salary statement would suffice since its the same coy all through. Would definitely give PTE-A a go.

What is the current economic situation in Australia like? Would i have to do bridging course to boost my job chances or go for a tafe diploma? Sent you a PM.

Thanks

To claim points from your employment, you really need to back up your claims with enough supporting documents as it had been mentioned previously.

The economy is thriving though not like during mining boom era. As per job wise, you really need to be on top of your game to get something in your field eventhough construction industry is thriving at the moment. You might need to go for some Tafe courses and probably go for some volunteering jobs. However, I strongly believe in God's favour making ways even where there seems to be no way.

@NNBB2012. Its been a while i've been on this Australian PR race if you remember...had to pause because i had some personal things to put in place before leaving this country which i've done.

I'm a Civil Engineer with 3 years work experience(by November including NYSC) as i'm still working where i served. I also just heard EA now has a 1 week fasttrack assessment option for $900 which i'd definitely go for to save time. I've done IELTS General and got 8,8.5,7,7.5 which gives me 10 points and i'm less than 32 which also gives me 30 points...also have 15 points for my B.tech degree. My total point now stands at 55 and i need your advice on which path to follow among the 3 options i have.

1. Go for state nomination as i checked via Anzscosearch and can see about 5 states sponsoring my occupation.

2. Write PTE Academic and work hard to score 79 in each ability in order to get 20 points and just use my ielts for EA assessment only.

3. Claim 5 points for my 3 work experience which i'm skeptical because i dont have pension or tax proof for my Nysc work duration or do you think my 6 month salary statement would suffice in this regard. I heard app processing are faster, doesnt require extra work documents and hassle free when points are not claimed for work experience.

Would really appreciate your advise on this.

Thanks

Good one! Indeed, it's been a while. Although I always read comments on the thread.

With your good IELTS result, you can quickly go for your assessment. The goodnews now is there is fasttrack path which you rightly mentioned. I know of someone that got her positive assessment within 24hrs.

It would be good if you could get supporting documents for your NYSC period because that would help you to get 5 points on experience. Otherwise, you would be at the mercy of states which is very slow these days, particularly, NSW. You could give PTE-A a go and see if you could make 20points from it to boost your points and then go for 189.

Hello house,
Glory to God,after 3 attempts with 2different assessing bodies under 2different occupations and 3 ielts, hubby has finally gotten a positive assessment from Icaa as an external auditor!
As it stands now,his points are 60 so we will have to go the 190 way and request for state sponsorship.
Pls has anyone applied to NSW,Tasmania or South Australia for sponsorship?what's the procedure like? responses will be greatly appreciated.

Congrats on your positive assessment. Really, you could have just applied for skilled independent visa-189 since you have 60 points. But checking through occupation ceilings for this financial year, you are only left with State nominations. And the only state that I know that their nomination is very fast is South Australia. However, they have fewer opportunities compare to NSW whose nomination process is very slow.

Could please advise the house the occupations you previously nominated, your qualification and years of experience so that others can learn from your experience? pingu2k5:

NNBB2012,
sir ,what is your view on this
The following information will assist you:
Australia is a wealthy country; it generates its income from various sources including mining-related exports, telecommunications, banking and manufacturing.
It was identified by the Credit Suisse Research Institute as the nation with the highest median wealth in the world and the second-highest average wealth per adult in 2013.
In terms of average wealth, Australia ranked second in the world after Switzerland in 2013, although the nation's poverty rate increased from 10.2% to 11.8%, from 2000/01 to 2013.
Australia is the world's twelfth largest economy and has the fifth highest per capita GDP (nominal) at $66,984.
he country was ranked second in the United Nations 2011 Human Development Index and first inLegatum's 2008 Prosperity Index.
Melbourne reached top spot for the fourth year in a row on The Economist's 2014 list of the world's most liveable cities, followed by Adelaide, Sydney, and Perth in the fifth, seventh, and ninth places respectively.
The service sector of the economy, including tourism, education, and financial services, accounts for about 70% of GDP.
Agriculture and natural resources account for only 3% and 5% of GDP respectively, they contribute substantially to export performance
In 2013, there are about 650,000 New Zealand citizens living in Australia,[2] which is about 15 per cent of the population of New Zealand.
Although the economy is slowing down recently but that is not a reason not to consider Australia if you have the opportunity.

My fellow brothers and sisters in the house, pretoria was happy to reject me Visa today. Reason was that Employer was not verified and that no Letter of Future Employment, subclass-573,(SVP) paid AuS13,700 and has saved about AuS7,450 for complete 1yrs fees. Total: AuS21,000. I added my landed property docs, marriage certificates, house plan, children birth certs, employment histories, first aid certificates, IELTS and PTE blast them over.

So guys tell me, what else does pretoria needs? My MD of my Company was mad at this, they didn't call any1 or even me, he even wanted to use his lawyers to write them, I told him not to bother, every1 must not travel, some are meant to help others to succeed here and do stuffs. Australia should understand that we are not Hungry in Nigeria. I will keep up with my business and clap for people who gets their grants. Happy New Month. smiley

Sad to hear about your visa refusal. You could appeal the decision or re-apply with additional documents.

hi, if your visa is about to expire and you apply for post study visa the visa can be extended in australia right? d

If your visa is about to expire and you apply for post-study visa, you would be given a bridging visa as soon as you lodge. The bridging visa would take effect as soon as your student visa expires pending the time your post-study visa would be granted.

No, he can't claim more than what was specified on his assessment letter. Skilled assessment with Engineers Australia is enough and let immigration calculate your relevant work experience.

Hello everyone, I'm currently studying Bsc nursing at Usq Queensland Australia. I have one semester left to graduate and would appreciate any useful advice from anyone. I know I need 7 in all bands of IELTS to register with AHPRA and I can apply 4-6 weeks before I graduate. My fear is that I want to apply for pr and I am quite worried if ANMAC can assess my skills before my visa expires. my visa expires august next year and I ll graduate towards June ending. Pls nurses and anyone else advice. Thanks

Check information on ANMAC website to see their requirements. You still have almost one year which I think it is more than enough to sort things out. What you need to focus on is how to meet the requirement of your registration which is meeting at least 7,7,7,7 or equivalent in English test and which will also contribute immensely to your points. I have no doubt that you would meet the required points considering likely points you would get in Australian study , age, English test and qualification. And besides, you are entitled to post-study visa. Start preparing for your English test now.

Hello all,

I have been following these thread but need some clarification. I study Computer Science for my HND and PgD also having Master in Information Technology but presently working in a Telecommunication firm in the Network Operation Centre (NOC), kindly advice on what assessing authourity and ANZSCO Code to use am also having more than 5yrs working experience.
What you need to do is to take a look at both SOL/CSOL and check what occupation is relevant to you. I would advise you not to consider any occupation that Engineers Australia is the assessing body, it won't fly because of your non-engineering background. Check ACS to see whether your present work experience matches anything related to an occupation they assess.

So you are also of the opinion that it isn't necessary?
It is not necessary. I never did that likewise some other people that I know.

I don't know how long it takes to do that. Haven't you assessed your qualification? Why would you assess work experience? You really don't need it. Just go ahead with the number of years of relevant experience you have.

I strongly plead with you to look for the money and include them in your application at once. You will even benefit more by bringing them with you. Your children would be entitled to Tax benefits right from day one that they enter Australia, although this is subject to income. We are talking about roughly 1500AUD per fortnights. You could actually recoup the money within 1 month of their arrival. Applying separately for them could take longer time than necessary. So, be guided accordingly.

Thanks NNBB2012. Age = 30 points, Experience = 5 points, Qualification = 10 points, PTEA / IELTS = Registered already and will be writing in 2 weeks. It was stated on my outcome letter that i started skill employment since December 2004 and at that my equivalent experience in Australia is AT LEAST 3 years.Just hoping that when i finally lodge my application, i will be awarded more than 5 points.

As it is, you have 45points without the English test. You need at least 10points from English test for you to be eligible for any visa. Department of immigration would refer to your letter for the purpose of awarding points for your experience; since it is stated on your letter that you have 3yrs, then you would be awarded 5points and nothing more. Focus on our English test and make sure you get at least 7,7,7,7 (IELTS)/ 65,65,65,65 (PTE A). Goodluck in your test.
