Thanks, but there's no Mechanical Technician on the SOL and can I use it for this subclass. All every other criteria are intact.
Yes, it is not on SOL list but CSOL list. What it means you can only apply for sponsored visa which you need to meet indicula state sponsorship conditions.

Thanks for your efforts @NNBB2012

To ans your questions:

what kind of experience does she have?

she is a Database Administrator with a federal hosp ital

what year did she finish her Msc?

2014

what is her age now?

she will be 34years old by August 2016

@NNBB2012, does she stand a chance in securing the PR if we take that route?

kindly tell me the step by step procedure on how to go about this PR route?

which body assesses IT and computer professionals?

Among toefl, ielts and PTE ......which is highly recommended for this PR process?

what minimum score band is recommended?

Add other relevant things to note too......

thanks in anticipation sir
She is eligible for PR and her occupation is on the list. She won't get any points from experience whether she uses her HND or MSc. I would advise she should use her MSc so that she can get 15points from qualification and 25points from her age. She really need to do extremely well in English Test.
-Read my previous posts for step by step procedure.

Hello house, I am new here and I will really appreciate if I can be guided right.

I want to put in for the Australian skilled independent subclass 189.

I am 35, married with 2 kids and have 8 years work experience as a production technician in a multinational company.

I want to ask if I can use ND - Mechanical, HND - Mechanical and CILT UK - IOM certification in Operations Management to apply for the 189 and which of the body will assess my qualifications.

Thanks for now

I did a 5 years course in Electrical Engineering, but did the program for 4years(yr2-5) and my 1st year was a diploma in the same school, unilag and used a direct entry admission into yr 2. I really want to know if this will affect my assessment from EA if applying as an Electrical engineer.. ie, will i still get the 15 points allocated for bsc?
You might not get Professional Engineer because ur degree is less than 5yrs but i will advise you to give it a go. Certainly, you will be given at least Engineering Technologist which will still give you 15points.

@NNBB2012, bellong, tunai, lawland, other gurus

Though I have never used it on my resume, I have a National Diploma (2 years Full-time) in Insurance from a Federal Polytechnic which I acquired before my working life. If I add that to the BSc and ACIB that were awarded to me before I started working and the MBA (acquired after 4 years of work experience) and send them to VETASSESS, would they earn me the maximum score under Education for the purpose of EOI? I have 9 years working experience.

Sure!

Pls i have this question and i hope it's not too strange,
- what OTHER PROFESSION can a medical doctor with 1 year experience go for on d sol/csol lists

It is a different ball game for Medical doctors. You need to write 2 stages exams (AMC) and supervision up to 2yrs before you can get your registration/assessment in Australia. After the registration, you can then be talking about PR. It is a long journey but it really what the pain. Go through Australia Medical board and follow through the process.

Hello house.

It's great seeing people get responses to questions. I just have some questions on the best way to move to Australia. I'm currently in the Uk. I have an HND in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from Nigeria. Currently doing a top up to BEng here in the UK and due to finish in June. I am 26 and have 3 years work experience

It is possible to move on a PR to Australia provided that you have positive assessment and the required points. Which area do you have experience on? If you approach Engineer Australia after your study, your experience will not count although you may have 15points but I doubt if you will be given Bachelor degree in Australia. To get Bachelor degree equivalent in Australia, you have to study for 4years in some specific universities. And since your program is just 1year in the UK and your previous program is 2years according to Australia standard, you might be given Associate degree, which is not equivalent to Bachelor and you will still end up getting 10point. If you do now, your qualification will be equivalent to Australian Advanced Diploma, which is 10points and you will have 5points for experience provided that your experience is relevant to your nominated occupation. Also, you have minimum qualification required for the occupation.

For the gurus in the house:

my wife has a distinction in computer science, Ond level,
Distinction in computer science, HND level and she graduated with 4.89 on 5.00 scale on Masters level (Masters in Information systems)..... also, she has 5 years (post HND) work experience in an IT firm.......We are considering on moving over to Australia for another Masters in Information Technology by research or course work.

My question now is:

Does she stand a chance of securing the Permanent Residence after her Masters in IT ? if yes! how do we go about it the right way? If no! what alternatives are left for us

Thanks guys. This thread is wonderful.

What kind of experience does she has? What year did she finish her MSc? what is her age now? I think she will be eligible for PR. Well, let have answers first.

You only need 10points more to be eligible for state nomination. And with your ielts result, you can proceed for your assessment provided that you have nothing less than 6.0 in any module of your ielts. Try PTE-A and see if you can improve your English result. You need nothing less than 65,65,65,65 in it.

Well, I have limited funding I only have enough money for one masters.. And comming from a background of philosophy. The best I can do is do a pgd, then masters.. So I'm thinking Canada for both.. Work for a year or two.. Then apply for Australian PR.. Please advice NNBB2012
With you BSc Philosophy, you should easily get MSc Social works-qualifying admission. You are guarantee of a positive assessment after the program.

Bro, so u mean It's not a must that someone should have a work experience before s/he can get PR.. The main reason why am going through study route is coz I don't have work experience in Engineering but I studied chemical engineering.
Lawland has rightly answered you. Your study will only fetch you 5points provided that you meet the Australian study requirement, which is 2yrs. I will rather spend money on English test and get 20points rather than spending that amount on one MSc here bro. The MSc fee that you pay is what you need as deposit to buy a house in Australia.

Thanks a millions.. And your immeasurable help.. I have two additional questions for you..

1. How do I get a list of courses that do not require experience for accessment?

2. Is it that I won't be able to get a job without PR or it will be hard?

3. What if the company allows me to work temporarily for like a year or two? I'm aware Australia will give you a three year-working visa to gather experience if you study for 2years at graduate level and mine is 2.4 years..

Thanks.
Nobody has a compiled list of courses that do not required experience for an assessment. What you need to do is to check any course you want to do to see if it is accredited by relevant assessing body. And also check if the occupation requires experience or not. I only know few such as Nursing,Radiography,Social Works,Accounting,Engineering etc.
Nothing is impossible but just that the reality is that they need you to either be PR holder or citizen before they give you opportunity. I know two people on student visa that are working full-time in multinational companies.
You will get 2yrs post-graduate visa if you study MSc-2yrs coursework. It is only MSc by research that you will get 3yrs.

I will like to confirm
If one has a skill on csol list from bachelor's degree and doing a masters by research presently in a field under csol. Can one switch to PR while studying? Since the field is on csol list.
Secondly the vetassess ssessment how many years does it have before it expires?
Kindly reply.
Yes, it is very possible to switch your visa to PR while studying. The validity used to be 2yrs, however, immigration department only accept maximun 3yrs validity of an assessment outcome.

Thanks for your help.. But that would mean. I might have to be a social worker right?.. I checked again and human resource management is on the csol list.. And it's assessed by AIM AUSTRAlia. What would be the implication of that for me?
Also ECU didn't require IELTS so I didn't take it.. Implication of that also..
I am fully aware of HR being on CSOL list but you still need positive assessment before you can apply for PR. And to get positive assessment from either AIM or VETASSESS, you need work experience. Where do you intend to get experience from? Perhaps, you have mind to go back to Nigeria to get it. It is really hard to get work experience in your field in Australia after study unless you are either PR holder or a citizen. Why not go for a course that doesn't require experience, that all you need is to gather your points and scale through the hurdle of PR? I THINK A WORD IS ENOUGH. Many international students that came over here did not know this until they locked themselves in and then it was too late for them.

I hope it helps.

Hi, bro. I'm having a little issue which I need answers to.
I want to apply for 189 visa, the problem is that I have no relevant qualification for the skill I'm applying for, but I have experience. I hold a B.Sc in political science and also a P.G in Customer Relationship Management, but I have about 4years teaching experience (its actually one year, but this can be fixed, my mom owns a school), so I want to go with teaching as its on the SOL list.
My problem is if my lack of qualification in the profession will be a problem.
Secondly, my educational qualifications and ACTUAL experience qualifies me for the Customer Relationship Manager profession, but it is just on the CSOL list, this means I will have to wait to be nominated, and the process maybe cumbersome.
Please what do you suggest I do? And again do i need to take the IELTS exam? Justwise, bellong
NNBB2012 awoononi

Looking at your profile, it is clear that your qualifications do not match with your experience. It is really unfortunate and as such none of the two occupations you are interested in will fly. The reason being that you need at least one year of experience to be assessed by VETASSESS as a Customer Service Manager occupations with enough proofs that you really worked in that occupation. Teaching in Australia is highly regulated profession and such you need qualification relevant to education degree and some cases you need registration or licence. I'm afraid none of this will fly. Your best chance is to go for a MSc in any course that will lead to a positive assessment and once you scale through hurdle of PR , you can then decide to do whatever you like.

Prince pls answer me and she'd light to this my post

Good-day good people, I have followed this thread for a long time and I'm proud of all the contributions from the gurus.
My queries are as follows:
I have a degree in Elect/Elect Engr. 2013. Work experience:
Procurement, cost survey, purchasing logistics. All in maritime and oil and gas.
Company is own by me as an entrepreneur. Sometimes I went to offshore to deliver supplies, advice on some technical equipment and also designed Ship logbooks for oil tankers in Nigeria.
I was running these things and in the process, I gained lots of operational experience in oil and gas.
I supplied and calibrated alots of flowmeters in various oil tanker vessels in nigeria waters(outsidebar). Went with choppers and sometimes flying boats! I have all the necessary permits and mandatory to work in the sea/ship. E.g safety/mandatory cert., marine/seafearers int'l passport, Advanced Diploma in Shipping, port administration and management.unilag. I'm a fellow Nigeria Maritime Researchers and Member Nigeria Shippers Council.
I have managed men and women who worked for me whenever I had jobs. However, when the project finished, everybody would leave.
Money are being paid directly to the company's account controlled by me from the oil companies I serviced. However, this trend died down due to oil crash!
I Got a job in a trading company thereafter as a supervisory manager(warehouse supervisor), I did the job for 9months and left because the pay was little. Now I'm about starting a moderate job with a marine company as a business developer..more or less using my experience to help get jobs and maintain relationships with bigger and firms of their interest.
Now my paradox!
Looking at all these explanations, one can tell that I v worked outside my area of study in Elect/Elect degree.
Applying for a PR 189 in Australia is my target.
Pls house and my beautiful people, help me get answers. How can I present my case to be assessed by EA.

I have crazy experienced within couple of years that I have to impact on some who have been in the field for over 10yrs.
Please advice!
You are lucky in the sense that your degree can be assessed without an experience. You are eligible for PR but then you just need to gather the required points. There is no two ways about that. So, you have strong hope.

Respect to everyone who has contributed their time and wealth of knowledge to this thread , I'm sure its really appreciated.
I have a number of questions and things i'm quite confused about and would need help with, regarding work/study/living in australia.

I turned 23 in February this year, I have a BA Philosophy from Lagos State University, I've been running a transport business since then, and also in between my NYSC. I recently applied and got an offer from Edith Cowan University to study Human resource management,
this course requires first a 4 month course from ECU/PIBT, Before moving on to start the masters itself fully, with this i would've had to spend about 2.4 years in Aussie.

My agent makes everything seem all fine and dandy, but I'm scared, mainly because I know Human Resource Management isn't on this SOL list, My course would be about 50k plus AUD in total, and I have saved my complete tuition for my duration already. All i need to save for now would be my feeding and accomodation also.

Now my problem is, What should I do, I know nothing about Australia, their immigration and the others, I don't want to commit and find out that i could've done something better of followed another route, But i would really love to stay and work in Australia, and after 3 years working, I would love to also get an MBA, part time maybe. Please any help would be Highly appreciated

and also
Would my background with a BA in Philosophy be a problem, even though it makes me a much more critical and analytical person?
Also, Is my age too small
Also any general advice and recommendations would be appreciated
Do I need to practice and take the IETLS also, even though my school doesnt need it?
Also If I'm taking it, Do i need to practice?

I know my questions are a bit much, But I would appreciate a comprehensive answer and explanation also. Thanks a great deal everyone for your Time.. Perth( I'm on the way) Heeeheee...

Timi.
Since you know your course is not on the list, why then do you still want to go for it? Well, I wouldn't close my eyes to see you make such horrible mistake. My advise will be you should consider a course that is on the list and do not require experience for an assessment. This has been emphasised over and over again but I still don't know why people keep making same mistake. Go for MSc Social Works-qualifying, it does not require experience. After the program, you are ready for your PR once you get your points. If you do, you will come back to thank me greatly that is provided you take that step.

The most relevant skilled occupation class to my job function is Financial Institution Branch Manager under CSOL (149914).

I got the MBA from Lautech, Ogbomoso. Which universities do you have in mind @bolded?

oK. You only need Associate degree or Advanced Diploma though for the Financial Branch Manager occupation. It means you do not need your MBA to get a positive assessment from VETASSESS. If you are positively assessed and your degree is equivalent to an Associate degree, you will only have 10points for that. But then you will have 8years minimum years of experience and if that is what you have as a Financial Branch Manager, which means you have maximum 15points from experience, so altogether, you will have 25points. If you submit your MBA as part of the qualifications for an assessment, eventhough is not required, you may or may not be assessed based on that. If it was assessed based on that, you would be left with only 5points and then gain only 20points from both qualification and experience. I think the former scenario is better based on simple Maths, which would give you 25points. That's my little cents.

Thanks for your response. For the assessment, is it only the Bsc that I should assess? Read somewhere on the thread that post-experience qualifications do not really count. Is this true?

I have Bsc, ACIB (Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers) and MBA. I have 9 years work experience but acquired the MBA after about 4 years of work experience. The ACIB was acquired before I started working.

Would appreciate your response.

What is your occupation? You need to know your occupation with reference to the SOL or CSOL and also know the requirements of the relevant assessing body. For example, if you were to be assessed by VETASSESS, I would advise that you should include your MBA except if you finished from some Universities in Nigeria.

I do not really know which occupation you may want to nominate; you really need to choose your occupation based on your qualification. A quick check on some of these film related occupations did not give a green light at all. Before we conclude though, you need to state your occupation before even talking about the assessment.

Hello, please i need advice.

I submitted an application on 29th of December 2015 online for a 476 subclass visa.

I did IELTS exams on the 9th of January 2016.

I was contacted by a CO on 2nd of March 2016 and told that my english language test result cannot be accepted because it was written AFTER the date i lodge my application, and that i should provide an English language test result that was written prior to lodging the application.

I do not have any english language result written prior to submitting the application, the only english language result i have is the one written after i submit the application.

I have reply them that i dont have any other english language result written before the date i lodge the application.

I am wondering, do i stand a chance? Can the date difference be overlooked as they haven't gotten back to me since then.

I am thinking of withdrawing the current application and applying again since the english test result i have now will then be before the application. What is your advice please? Or should I wait until IMMI make their decision before lodging another application (if their decision turns out negative).

Is there any implication of withdrawing an application and then re-applying for same class of visa again?

Sorry for the many questions in one post.

Thanks for your help.
Unfortunately, you need to withdraw the application because you did not adhere strictly to the instruction. The instruction say, "An overall score of at least 6 with a minimum score of 5 in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking) in an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test that has been undertaken in the three years immediately prior to lodging the visa application". It is as simple as that. You don't take chances in such situation.

Withdraw your application and then re-apply. There is no crime in withdrawing your application. You will be fine.

He just has to substantiate his work experience with enough documents such as employment reference letter, appointment letter, promotional letters, salary increase, payslip, bank statement, tax certificate etc. It is not compulsory to have all but you just have to substantiate with enough documents as you can.

Few points to note when selecting a course to study in Australia, if you are keen of PR at end of your study:
-Ensure you select a course that is relevant to the occupation on the list.
-Check if the course you intend to study is accredited by the relevant authority.
-If you do not have work experience, make sure you do a course which occupation may not require work for an assessment. Most occupations that Vetassess assesses require at least 1 year work experience.
-Do not believe of what somebody has told you until you check these things by yourself. Many end-up changing courses after discovering that their courses are irrelevant in Australia.
-If you have experience and your occupation is on the list, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on study but rather pursue your PR.

The following occupations have been flagged in this financial year. What it means is that they may or may not be removed in the future. Remember that new financial year starts in July of every year. Whatever you need to do, just do it because anything can happen.

The truth is, there's no cheap school in Australia, those that are said to be cheap ain't that cheap there's just a slight variation in fees from others. You can get your PR while studying if & only if you meet the requirements for PR by following due process, no magic in that. As a international student, you luckily get your PR while studying, you will still have to pay your subsequent school fees as a international student because you get your admission prior to PR, you will only enjoy the benefits of a PR holder when you apply for a new program after getting your PR.
PR is not by the number of years in Australia but by having the require points and following due process.

You have rightly answered the questions. Just a quick correction, Once you get your PR, it changes everything and you will enjoy the benefits including school fees. You will cease to be an international student. You can decide to change to part-time study or possibly defer your study. So you WON'T pay as an international student.
