okpas12: Good on you, you are fine with the Cert 3 for that occupation. Like I said before, you will still get your 10points from the qualification. You really don't need to include your HND while submitting EOI. How many points do you have altogether now? And which visa would you be applying for? |

okpas12: Which occupation were you assessed for? What should bother you is the requirement of the occupation. Both HND and Cert 3 have the same points. |

chuckdee13: I thought this issue had been resolved previously. For your Msc to be considered it has to be in the same field. The best thing is to be silenced about your Msc during your assessment; nobody really cares about the gap. |

mPop: I think this from the Assessing body would answer your question. I have an undergraduate degree and a 2 year Masters in Social Work. Will I be eligible? Applicants with an undergraduate degree and an accredited post graduate social work qualifying degree should submit the required documentation for both periods of study. All applicants need to demonstrate that their Masters was a qualifying Masters not a Masters Advanced which is not a social work qualifying/entry to practice course. Make sure you are doing an accredited Master degree in Social works. I would consider you lucky if you are admitted for Master in Social Works with Bachelor degree in Maths. I know of an individual that was not considered but instead he went to start BSc again in Social works. You also need 1 yr social works experience before you can get positive assessment. |

standupguy:If you were informed before now, perhaps you wouldn't have taken the study path. As you are, you are eligible for PR.You have two options. 1. You can assess your qualification as Mechanical Engineer with Engineers Australia without hope of claiming work experience because your experience does not match with your qualification. What it means is that you have to gain enough points of at least 50points on your own to be eligible for at least visa 489. What is your age? Do you have IELTS result? 2. You can approach ACS to be assess as a Computer System Engineer but a non ICT. What it means is that you will loose all the 4yrs experience. You can't claim points from work experience. You can go with either of this options. Going through study route is a longer process, and then all you would possibly get is extra 5points for studying in Australia except if you study in regional area that would fetch you extra 10points but then you might also loose point in age. So, think about it. |
Travel / Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by NNBB2012: 9:10am On Aug 16, 2015 |
mPop:Usually, the first degree is assessed. You cannot be given 15points for PgD but rather 10points and it must be in the same field. If you do a PgD is a different field, It may not be sufficient for positive assessment. On the other question, once you get here as a PR holder, you can decide to do whatever you like. |

binaflexia:If the school directed you to an agent, it means you can only get admission through the agent. You must provide whatever the requirements are. Explain your situation well to the agent and seek his advice. What qualification do you have and what course do you intend to study? 1 Like |

erictack203:It is only work experience after your study that counts for the purpose of points. After your study, you would have to do your registration once you meet English requirement. All you need then is to gather all your points from , age, qualification, Australia study and English . I think all these would be enough without experience for your PR. And you might probably get a job as soon as you finished your registration and therefore get sponsorship. This is the reason why it is good to do a course that is in demand if one has PR in mind after study. |
Travel / Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by NNBB2012: 2:55pm On Aug 15, 2015 |
Pmiller1:That's correct. If the requirement says degree and there is no other clause like experience may substitute it, you won't get positive assessment and as such you won't be eligible for it. |
Travel / Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by NNBB2012: 11:04am On Aug 15, 2015 |
prost80:The implication is that you have lost 5points from 10points that you should have got. You need to see if you still have up to the required points-60points. Basically, you need 55 points on your own and the state would give you 5points to make it 60points. |

erictack203:Studying a course is not enough to get Australian PR, one has to earn the points to be eligible. If you have the required assessment and also the points, of course, you will be eligible. It wise to do everything necessary to boost one's points such as studying in the regional area etc. |

standupguy:If you meet Australian study requirements, that studying for at least 2 academic calendar years, you will be eligible for 18months provided your occupation is on the list and assessed as well. You must also meet Rnglish requirement. In a nut shell, if you study a course that is not on the list at Advanced Diploma level, you won't be eligible for it. |

Even as an adult, one may find it difficult to understand them initially but after a while one would get used to them. Yes, it is just the interest and the experience. 1 Like |

farellstone: Australian PR is not only for Engineers, other occupations are eligible. Check the SOL/CSOL list to see if your occupation or related occupation is there or not. What is your current occupation? It is not enough just to be a graduate of English and literary studies to be eligible for it. You must be either a Teacher of English language or journalist etc. |

opa4pr: Where did you read that BSc Accounting is not sufficient for assessment? Well, I will advise you to go ahead with the assessment since you have checked and seen that the major courses are well covered in your transcript except if you know anybody that got negative assessment with his/her BSc Accounting only. Sincerely, there is no crime in taking the risk. 1 Like |

samdemmis: Great! the breakdown of your points as follow: Age-30,Edu-15,IELTS-10=55points +5points(State nomination)=60points. You are eligible for visa 190. All you need to do now which is the most critical one is your assessment with Engineers Australia. You will need to write CDR. check their website for information regarding that. |

samdemmis:Your application will fly . Search for my previous posts on this forum which detailed steps to take that will leadd to PR. You will definitely write CDR for your assessment with Engineers Australia. The 7.5band IELTS is it in each of the components? What is your age? Age=?, Edu=15points, Expe=0points, IELTS(7,7,7,7)=10points, confirm that. |

mPop: I got your point now. You are looking for health related degrees that may lead to PR. I would strongly advise you to consider Nursing. It is a 3yrs degree and you would be eligible for your registration as RN. It is a faster path because is highly in demand on like others that you would be restricted. I would also like to mention that you should consider doing so in the regional area so that you could earn more points. 1 Like |

pingu2k5:You are welcome. Tips for your cv: Your first name should be English name, Put Australian PR holder on top of your cv after your name, let your cv be achievements focussed that is how you were able to make savings etc.,your certifications would be good as well. Don't think only one cv would do; try and update your cv from time to time. Keep applying and don't give up. 2 Likes 1 Share |
