mPop: Lucky you, Health service and welfare manager is on CSOL list and it is sponsored by South Australia. You can check the requirements and take it up from there. Also, Nutrionist is on CSOL list and it is sponsored by Qld only for visa 489. Check their requirements and take it up from there. 1 Like |

Pinkygrace:If you know you have the required points for 190, why not follow the steps and see if your application would fly. You must find your occupation on CSOL list. Unfortunately, the occupation is not on the SOL list hence you cannot apply for Independent visa but rather CSOL. It means you can only be nominated by state, regional area or family. Check any state nominating your occupation and know their requirements. Some of these requirements may not be easy to get from outside. As a matter of fact, this is supposed to guide you as per the choice of your University. And also check with your assessing body to know their requirements. You may require licence or registration before you can be assessed-http://pharmacycouncil.org.au/content/assets/files/Examination%20Guides/Flowchart%20-%202012.02.08.pdf . It is not straightforward. My view, you should consider to do your Master where you may have extra points that would enhance your PR chances later. |

ashioba: Check the requirement for SA nomination. It is whatever the requirements are that must be followed. If the requirement say,"Job offer is required", it is. |

ashioba: You can apply from Nigeria. You don't need to have a family here in Australia before you apply provided that you are eligible. Visa 489 is a temporary Regional sponsored visa which will lead to PR after 2years. |

sanmibukunmi: A nurse once posted it on this forum and that is the process generally. I have also modified the process. Kindly read and follow it accordingly. Below is the guideline to work here as a Nurse. To work here as a registered nurse you need to apply to AHPRA with your overseas trained application form.. the form link is below http://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/documents/default.aspx?record=WD11%2f5938&dbid=AP&chksum=Vu5B6IVSxjQ2tDhZpamU2Q%3d%3d You need to sit for either IELTS academics (7,7,7,7) or the OET exam etc. before applying...now for nurses or health practitioners, OET is the easiest exam to write for medical practitioners. It is in fact the best, you write it once and you are sure of getting it right. Immigration department accepts it for PR purposes. You need to write the exam before applying. Once you submit the result, they will ask the nurses board in the country where you are registered to verify that you are registered with them; the nurses board in Nigeria or wherever you registered will send the verification directly to AHPRA. When AHPRA gets it, they will send you an email with a list of universities where you can do a bridging course in Australia for 3-6 months or 1 year conversion course (which people like to do cos they can work whilst doing the conversion and pay their fees unlike the bridging course that they can't work. BUT THEN AHPRA WILL TELL HIM WHICH ONE TO GO FOR) UNIVERSITY TRAINED I THINK HE YOU BE ASKED TO DO THE 3 MONTHS COURSE. PEOPLE WHO DO THE 1 YEAR CONVERSION COURSE ARE THOSE WHO ARE HOSPITAL TRAINED REGISTERED NURSES WITH A DIPLOMA CERTIFICATE. SO AFTER THE CONVERSION THE SCHOOL GIVES THEM A BACHELOR'S CERTIFICATE AND CANCELS DIPLOMA(which is good cos then you have a bachelor degree not diploma). After the bridging course you will get your registration with AHPRA as a nurse. General Process of Australia immigration: 1 Check the SOL/CSOL: • 2 Calculate Points • 3 Skills Assessment: • 4 Proof of English Language ability: • 5 Work Experience: • 6 State Sponsorship: • 7 Family Sponsorship: • 8 Submitting an Expression of Interest: • 9 Visa Types: • 10 Lodging Application: • 11 After Lodging: • 13 The Waiting: • 14 The Decision: 4 Likes |

opa4pr:I don't think the mode of obtaining your degree really matters but what matters is the core courses you took which your assessing body would consider. Check the assessing body's requirements and run with that. 1 Like |

Reading them is still better than paying an agent to do it for you. Here is the summary of what you need to do: 1 Check the SOL/CSOL: •2 Calculate Points. You need either 50,55,60points minimum depending on your visa type. 3. Select the Visa Types: 4. Proof of English Language ability: •5 Skills Assessment: •6 Gather the documents •7 Submit an Expression of Interest: 8.Wait for the invitation •9 Lodge your Application: •11 After Lodging: 12. chase123: This applies to PR holder who can fly in to Australia at short notice. Most employers give at least 1 week notice before interview. And besides, you can come out plain that where you are it won't be possible to make it to Australia hence you can request for either phone-in interview or skype interview. Even in Australia, you might be in a state and they call you for job in another state; you have the right to tell them whether you can make it or not and they will understand. I got a job with an Oil and gas company in another state and guess what, the interview that I was supposed to attend physically was done over the phone. |

chuckdee13: In my own case, I put everything about me in Nigeria on my CV then and they still called me. Anyway, that was about 4years ago, so things have changed now. It is really hard to get such opportunity these days except your skill is really scarce to get here in Australia. The so-called idea is specifically for the PR holders who can fly in to Australia to attend interview or request that interview should be scheduled so that they can prepare for their trip. I mentioned it to one PR holder that assisted to come over here and he did it while still in the UK. Honestly, it worked for him and was able to attend interviews qucikly. |

ferdimako:Yes, you are right. At least competent English is required. That one she doesn't need much preparation to get that one. In my case, I did English test because I needed it then. |

[quote author=ferdimako post=36326964] Good one ...but she needs a competent level of an English test at DIBP stage if at all she doesn't need it for the migration points.[/quote Sincerely, she doesn't need it provided she could get her required points without English. For the secondary applicant, it is not even compulsory to have 4.5 in Ielts or equivalent. A letter that shows he was taught for at least five years in either secondary or University will suffice. |

ola30:She can nominate 'Economist' as an occupation and get assessed by Vetasses. She doesn't need English test for assessment but of course, she will need it incase she doesn't have enough points. Considering her circumstance, this is the breakdown of her points: Age-25, Bsc-15,Experience-10=50points. As it is, she is able to apply for 489 visa without an English test. I will strongly advise her to give PTE-Academics a go, she might get 10points for English which brings her points to 60points. With 60points, she would be over qualified for State nomination. The occupation-Economist is on CSOL list which means she can only be sponsored by a state. Really, you don't need assessment. Worst case scenario, you will get a 489 visa, which is a temporary visa for 2yrs before getting PR. Your action point now is get your wife to arrange the required documents for assessment and run with it. |

chase123: My occupation is Telecommunication Engineer and I had about 6years work experience then in Nigeria. I was sponsored on a Skilled Temporary visa-457 after the job offer about 3years and 11months ago by an Australian Employer. Initially, everything looked like a joke but then it was REAL. It was when I got here that I applied for Skilled Independent PR and now few weeks more to be eligible for citizenship. 2 Likes |

samuelokwu:All right, that sounds good. Sincerely, you do not need to stress her to get assessed which would probably take her like 12weeks (3months) before it would be done just for 5 points. You are not desperate of points hence 60points is just enough for you. You will definitely be invited. If you have the money to play with, you can do that. But trust me, you don't really need points from her. |

fashrules: There is nothing extra ordinary your agent could do to fast-track your visa processing. Visa could take several months even years. Have you done your assessment? That's where you need to start from. Assessment sometimes could take months depending on your assessing authority. Check your occupation and check with your assessing authority. Also you need to check if you could gather the required points. |

samuelokwu:These are two separate things. Your student visa does affect your PR application. You could actually do the two side by side. I guess is because of your assessment that you intend to try English test again otherwise you do not need it since you have already got the required point. |

chuckdee13: It is very simple. All you need to do is to update your CV and add Australian PR on it. Do not put address. Get a skype account with Australia number and route it to your mobile in case an employer calls you. The job that brought me to Austalia I got it while in Nigeria with my Nigerian's address and mobile number. 1 Like |

Very effective way of transferring money. But unfortunately, you cannot transfer money from Nigeria to Australia through them. Is there any way one could transfer money from Nigeria to Australian's bank account apart from inter bank transfer? |

maolmash: Your hubby's job might likely determine where you will eventually settle. You should be able to fit in in any of the city. He should not wait to arrive before he starts to apply for job. www.seek.com.au and www.indeed.com.au will be of great help. Considering his qualification and experience, he might likely end up in Sydney or Melbourne, so prepare for high cost on rents although it is relative. Children can be enrolled at anytime of the year once they have reached school age. Your children must be 5years old before they can start primary school in NSW. Every state has their own school age. So, where you will eventually settle should determine that. Getting a supervisor for your PhD should not be an issue. As a PR holder, your PhD is tuition free. 1 Like |

bossladymo1: Australians are not crazy about certificates, it is purely what you can do. So, having an MBA as a Property Manager to me is not an added advantage when the quallification required is Cert 3 or IV. Getting into the unfamiliar terrain is another issue entirely. You might just prepare your mind to do some Aussie certifications that will enable you to practice. |
