timikenzo2: It would be great if you could get positive assessment from Vetasses with the occupation as health and safety advisor. You stand a better chance than HR adviser in that you could apply for 189 provided that you have the required points-60. Vetasses is your assessing authority for both occupations. Check their requirements and run with it. |

bossladymo1: Yes, you eligible but be aware that child care benefit is income tested so it is not everybody that gets that. The prayer should be let me not be among those that collect that. |

enilim: Unfortunately, your occupation is not on SOL list hence you cannot apply for 189 and there are only two states,WA and SA that can nominate you. These states have strict conditions that you must meet which I doubt if you currently have them. For example, since your occupation is on schedule 2, it means you must have employment contract,English requirement and sufficient fund. The main reason why you have not been invited is because of the Employment contract. Do you have one now? And even 489 visa have similar conditions, so that does not help matter. The only thing I think you could do is to take a look at the list and see any occupation you feel that matches your qualification cum your experience and go for it. Australian migration requires thorough analysis before venturing into it in the first place. |

afahears:Next thing is to apply for your assessment with your assessing authority. And make sure that your experience matches the job description of your nominated occupation. Read previous posts on this forum and understand the steps. You are almost there because you have already gotten the required points. Age=? Edu=15 Expe=10 IELTS=10 |
NNBB2012 pls I did a diploma in petroleum engineering and then got direct entry admission to also study petroleum engineering but now did 4yrs instead of 5. is this an issue for me?[/quote You can mail EA to advise you before you submit your application-memberservices@engineersaustralia.org.au. Personally,I do not see any issue since EA says, " to be recognised as Professional Engineer, you must have completed 4 years Australian Bachelor degree in Engineering or overseas equivalent". |

cybug:Hm, that 3yrs alone is an issue. Even Vetassess finds it difficult to equate 4yrs Nigerian degree to 4yrs Australian degree. Well, I would say you should try. It is a risk you need to consider. |

bossladymo1: Whao! That's good to know. I have not taken anybody through them before. I think they will probably be the only assessing authority that doesn't require English. |

sanmibukunmi:Good on you then. You need to check the assessing authority to know their requirements. State nominated visa enables you to stay in that state for 2yrs before you can move to other places. You need to meet the conditions of the state before you can be nominated. A quick check suggested that you could be nominated by SA,Qld, and WA. Check their individual requirements and see the one that you can meet. More importantly, assessment has to be done and points calculated to see if you could get at least 55points on your own. Google how points are calculated. Basically, points are allocated to Age,qualification, experience,English test, nomination etc. |

bossladymo1: I know of at least 2 people that got assessed by ACS with Nigerian qualification and they didn't have issue. Anyone that did 5years degree course shouldn't have issue. But with a Nigerian 4years degree, it would be equated to Associate Degree. |

cybug:You will need transcripts for both assessment and immigration. Vet assess requires that transcript should be sent directly from school, and immigration needs certified copy only. If your school could give you a copy before sending it to Vetassess that would be great. You need to submit evidence of 1yr experience to Vetassess for assessment. You need evidence of English before assessment. Check if Vetasses requires other test of English. 1 Like |

What is the occupation and the code? Possibly you saw it on CSOL list, which means you are only eligible for visa 190,state nomination. |
Travel / Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by NNBB2012: 1:11am On Jul 08, 2015 |
sanmibukunmi: Check the SOL/CSOL list to see if your occupation is on the list and as well check the assessing authority to see their requirements. |

BKings: EA doesn't accept PTE A they only accept either IELTS A or G for assessment. You stand a better chance though of scoring high band in PTE Academics for the purpose of migration points which has nothing to do with EA assessment. |

Eumaca: The factors used for points are :Age, Qualification,Experience,Englist Test, nomination,Australia study,Australia work experience etc.See the breakdown on how points are calculated here: http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/189- 1 Like |

BKings: You could as well boost your points via English test either IELTS or PTE-Academics although either 190 or 489 visa is another alternative. |

RedReact: It may not be necessary based on what they specified on their website. It is state on their website that 'Secondary school teacher should be able to teach one or more subjetcs'. The qualification required is Bachelor degree or Higher degree. It is always good to try them. http://www.aitsl.edu.au/assessment-for-migration |

moneybag100: Check with the assessing authority to know their requirements. Generally, you need pay slip, bank statement etc. as part of your supporting documents. |
Travel / Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by NNBB2012: 2:13am On Jul 03, 2015 |
moneybag100: Sure, they can apply since their occupations are on the list. However, they need to follow through the process step by step. You can read through previous posts on this forum which outlined steps to follow. The most important part of the whole process is to get positive assessment from relevant assessing body. The remaining parts is to get points that can be substantiated. So, as for the barrister, it may be a bit tough though. He needs SLAA assessment which is not straight forward. He might need to do some examination to get licence here in Australia. I have not seen any Lawyer that migrated that one could you as reference. However, I have seen Lawyers from Nigeria that had to go back and study Law at undergraduate here because of stress of obtaining legal licence here in Australia. At least, I know two people. |
