BKings: Go through the Migration Skill Assessment booklet on Engineers Australia website, it details what format your CDR should and other documents. |

SeyiMiilan: Age-30 points Qualification-15 points Experience-5points Total-50points. You could do 489 which is temporary skilled sponsor visa although you still need IELTS for assessment with EA. I would advise you to sit for IELTS perhaps you might get at least 7 band in each module which will fetch you extra 10points to get required 60points for 189. 1 Like |

BKings: It's strange to read from your post that Engineers Australia needs 3yrs work experience before one could be assessed. It is not so. However, you may find it difficult to write your CDR particularly if your degree is non-accredited. Also you won't get any point for your migration. It doesn't matter the type of company you worked with. Just get reference letter that meets Engineers Australia specifications from them. I would strongly advise you to go for assessment in Mechanical Engineering instead of Telecomm so that you won't be given Engineering Technologist at the end. |

kcluv2men: I really do not know much about student visa but only PR. Some expats in that area can advise. You just google to check for those Schools. I will advise you to study courses that are in demand. Check SOL/CSOL. |

kcluv2men: Yes, you are correct based on the information available on immigration website. Please see the link. It is stated that Canberra is not included. https://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/regional-growth.htm 1 Like |

It is a scam. The same mail was recently sent to a friend of mine and he forwarded it to me so that I could verify the authenticity of it. The company entered voluntary administration since 2011. It does not exist any more. 1 Like |

missakomaye: You can get your PR if you are eligible for it regardless of where you live/study. However, you would have extra 5points if you study in regional area and unfortunately Canberra is not a regional area. I would advise you to study in regional area because of the extra points which can go along way. Make sure that the course you want to study is on SOL/CSOL list and endeavor to gain experience in the same occupation. You must be aware that studying in Australia does not automatically translate to PR. You have to earn the points to be eligible. One could study for years in Australia and not be eligible for PR. 4 Likes |

nkechima: Having checked the occupation, I could only see it on CSOL list; it means he has to be nominated by Employer, state, region or family. You need to check each state nomination list to see if the occupation is on the list otherwise he must be sponsored by an employer or a close relative . This link shows you the details of his job decription and qualification he MUST have in order to do the job here in Australia http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@.nsf/Product+Lookup/1220.0~First+Edition,+Revision+1~Chapter~UNIT+GROUP+1492+Call+or+Contact+Centre+and+Customer+Service+Managers. 1 Like 1 Share |

ferdimako: Any overseas certificate and Diploma assessed to be equivalent to Australian certificate and Advanced diploma will earn 10points. So, it is not only Australian Diploma. It depends on assessing body. TRA and Engineers Australia do assess Advanced Diploma as equivalent to Australian Advanced Diploma. I know of people who have done that. |

nkechima:Advance Diploma in Nigeria will be assessed as equivalent to Advanced Diploma in Australia. Has he checked i his occupation is on the list (SOL/CSOL)? Does he have experience in the said occupation, post graduate? These are things you need to check first. |

chuckdee13: That's great then. Generally, Engineers Australia will assess applicants at undergraduate level. I will advise you not to include your second degree because you don't need it really and even I'm sure it's not recognised as an accredited degree in Australia. The implication is that a non-accredited Australian postgraduate degree alone will not meet the academic requirement to confer recognition in Australia. It doesn't give you any extra point in Australian immigration as well. Why then are you bothering yourself? Don't worry about the gap. If you obtained your first degree in Nigeria, it is regarded as an unaccredited degree in Australia. In that case, you will need to write CDR. Kindly refer to Engineers Australia booklet for details of what you need to do. |

chuckdee13: You have not told me which area you have experience on. Where do you have your first degree? Don't care about the gap you have in-between really. |
Travel / Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by NNBB2012: 1:28am On May 29, 2015 |
chuckdee13: What experience do you have? You don't need your second degree for assessment. Extract from Engineers Australia I have an Australian postgraduate engineering degree, but my undergraduate degree is from overseas. Can I use my postgraduate degree from Australia as the basis for my qualification assessment application? The assessment is based primarily on your undergraduate degree and your demonstrated competencies. Your postgraduate degree will be taken into account in that it contributes to your engineering competencies. However, a non-accredited Australian postgraduate degree alone will not meet the academic requirement to confer recognition in Australia. Similarly a non-accredited Australian postgraduate degree on top of an overseas qualification will not provide automatic recognition in a higher occupational category. You will still have to apply for a formal assessment of your combined qualifications. |

You can start applying for job before you arrive. Get a skype account and put the number on your cv. They will give you Australia number. It will appear as if you an in Australia. You need to use that to test the market. 4 Likes |
