Ngwakwe: This your comment lacks merit and sensibility.

Who and what made them terrorists and others from different zones and probably backgrounds in the same school are bonafide students.

Simply put, they are all students of that institution having been admitted and their studies regularised.

I don't see any difference between them and others except when their sensibility is insulted on the grounds of their status and orientation.

If God had interchanged your father for theirs, you will certainly appreciate my point of view.
good point all animal are equal, but one is more important than other... that is the reason they were lodged in hotel, why some students cant avoid single room around Akoka.

Well said Dr. At least a voice of reasoning from an Igbo man. My fellow omo odua pls from now on, we should take individual poster on an issue, abusing entire igbo or calling them names will be unfair to some people like this honorable Dr. Let us show them we are "omoluabi" we have culture.

Omo Alata: There are bad eggs everywhere. When I was in the polytechnic, there was this guy who regularly called round to check on me, ask if I was ok etc etc. This supposed care suddenly changed to "I love you, I want to sleep with you" but I rebuffed his advances because he was ugly grin grin

I was invited one Sunday to a Deeper Life church. Imagine my disbelief when this 'brother' rose up to address the congregation. He was one of the pastors shocked When he saw me, he was quaking in his boots grin He never came round to visit me again - I wonder why grin
serious? Anyway as you said there is bad egg every where I agreed with you

CultureRe: Can You Still Recite Your Oriki? (literary Genre) by nogames(op):
ifyalways: Thanks @ OP.

Is this oriki same as traditional praise singing?
It is usually in the form of poetry, consisting of songs of praise.Every family has its own. The most interesting part of it is that. If you study it carefully you we know where your ancentors came from.
Foe example, no matter where you come from, if " olofa mojo omo olalomi abisu joko" appear in your oriki its shows your linage or ancentors are from offa kwara state.
"Omo ajoro jegbin" for ibadan descendant
"Omo timi, agbale" For Ede osun state
"Onikoyi eso ....." For ikoyi people
'Kurunmi..." Ijaiye people in Egba
Etc
Etc
CultureRe: Can You Still Recite Your Oriki? (literary Genre) by nogames(op):
Shollypopz: Nope, but I plan on learning it. I feel it's a waste
of time though since the one I'll recite for my kids has to be that of my husband
You are right,if know your husband's oriki find time to recite it for him once in a while, maybe sunday morning give him a litle tap from his sleep and let him see you reciting the oriki for him. If your husband his my type, I bet he will do anything to make u happy in return. But mind you never do it for expectation even if he ask what do you want. Just tell him you apprieciate him

" `Ok`or`o" the pronuciation is different from the igbo "okoro"
For the meaning hnm need to make some calls
CultureCan You Still Recite Your Oriki? (literary Genre) by nogames(op):
Oriki is literary genre used to inspire people. It is usually in the form of poetry, consisting of songs of praise.
I remember when i was very young, our grandma used to recite our oriki for us, it was interesting and make us feel honoured.
Usually, every Yoruba family has its own oriki, which extols the virtues of the clan. However, the glory days of the oriki seem to be gone,as most youths are no longer interested in it.
The question is can you still recite your oriki? it will be more interesting if you can write out at least a line out of your oriki
Mine is
Omo abe okoro ola......abeg dont ask me the meaning for now

revomind: From the top of my head, the ideal Yoruba;

Recognises the principle of fairness and the complex concept of the 'omoluabi.
Has immense respect for elders.
Loves to have a good time and celebrate.
Has a supreme regard for culture and tradition.
Believes in the power of a name.
Loves to acquire knowledge.
Believes in the sanctity of facts.
Believes male or female, a child is a child (women are allowed to head families).
Loves a woman with a good backside.
Is a calculating mind.
Believes the culture or the person comes before religion.
Has numerous names.
Detests oppression.

If there is any doubt, as a kid growing up, you immediately know you are Yoruba with each one of your four grandparents having a different oriki and its accompanying poem for you.

Pepper in the food may guide you too.
Bravo bro

So Dbanj to me made Don popular...Don Jazz again... Don Jazz again

Danka7777:
Another insensible Nigerian. I believe you are above 30 yrs. I mentioned the age thing because a lot of older Nigerians, honestly are unable to process information correctly or sensibly. What makes you think that Christians are not behind most of these? Can't you understand that the western countries are behind all these? Their goal is to divide Nigeria and have a Republic of Niger Delta. They tried using MEND few years ago to achieve this, supplied them with sophisticated weapons but when one of their own became president, what did they do? They felt it would be suspicious and clearly insane to use MEND since one of their own is the president. Instead, they devised a new group called Boko Haram. Why? Because these people know the religious history of Nigeria and clearly understand that religious crisis will be the time bomb to the disintegration of Nigeria. When a bomb goes off, christians say its the muslims aka Boko Haram; that's what the enemy(western countries) like to hear. Nigerians don't be fooled. Is it by coincidence that immediately MEND stopped all its aggressions, Boko Haram became a new threat? Nigerians think! This is common sense. Yes Boko Haram has muslims in it, and can tell you it has a lot of  Christians helping them to carry out these crimes.
Why most Muslim dislike America? Is it part of what you are been taught in your Qur'an school?  So every ugly thing that happen in your bedroom must from America, even when you are unable to impregnate your wives. This is fallacy of highest order, Many of theses guys (BH) are in police custody none to my knowledge confess or disclose anything related to your fabricated theory, or are you one of them?
