Politics / Re: Bisi Ibidapo And Lola Alao Trade Words Over Dino Melaye's N10m by Noraokon: 11:17am On Oct 30, 2012
Idokojimmy: During an interview with E24 magazine, pregnant actress Bisi Ibidapo Obe revealed that her colleague, Lola Alao introduced her to the man she claims is responsible for her pregnancy, ex Reps member, Dino Melaye, and she also alleged that Lola, after having introduced her to Dino, started dating the lawmaker.

Lola Alao has come out to deny Bisi's claim. What she told City People below...
Bisi should leave me out of her pregnancy mess. How can an adult like her not know who impregnated her? Is Bisi a small girl, that I Lola, will now carry and give Hon Dino to date? It is sad that she has dragged him into this mess. Is she the first actor or actress that Dino will help? Why is she making a deal out of meeting Dino? Dino has been my friend for years and was even at my movie premiere several month back where he donated N10million. I wish to state categorically that I have never dated Dino, I am not dating him and can never date him because he's like a brother from another mother. It is quite unfortunate that Bisi is scandalizing Dino this way. Everything smacks of blackmail to me. Maybe she thinks since Dino donated N10million at my launch , she can scandalize him and make some money off him. I leave her to her conscience.

Politics / Re: Ribadu Report: No Cover-up - Jonathan by Noraokon: 9:39am On Oct 30, 2012
if we must criticize, i think we must be logical. GEJ's administration remains the most transparent the nation has ever had.his commitment on anti-corruption is currently repositioning the oil sector.he also has not relented in his commitment to making the electoral body and the judiciary independent. we must shame those who have sworn to pull this administration and the country down. we must not make ourselves vulnerable to detractors.we must wait for the final report to be presented before we begin to make assessments.

the authors argument is logical.the media is not helping in portraying the image of the nation in good light.i agree with you we are presently bedeviled with many challenges.but the question is are we the only troubled nation.let us ask ourselves again how often The CNN or BBC reported violent cases in The US, or is it that it is a peaceful society?.

sentiment aside, GEJs commitment to electoral legitimacy, respect for rule of law and his anti-corruption crusade is commendable. it is unfortunate that some ignorant Nigerians are been indoctrinated by selfish antagonists who have sworn to make the nation ungovernable for the president.

Politics / Re: More Dams Coming To Fight Floods- FG by Noraokon: 2:32pm On Oct 15, 2012
the construction of buffer dams especially around the river Niger seems a major flood preventive measure. GEJ must prioritize this project to avoid future occurrence.
Politics / Re: Survival Of Flood Victims, Our Concern –jonathan by Noraokon: 10:14am On Oct 15, 2012
such issue is supposed to be a priority to any leader. the FG should factor strategies aimed at ameliorating the sufferings of those affected by the disaster.
Itohen: President Goodluck Jonathan, on Sunday, said the government was concerned about resettling the flooded communities and averting looming food scarcity.

Jonathan, who was taken round the flooded communities in Bayelsa State in an aircraft in company with the state governor, Mr. Seriake Dickson, said the Ministry of Agriculture had been directed to map out strategies against the impending scarcity.

He spoke in Yenagoa before visiting the relief camp for flood victims at the Sports Complex, observing that the flooding had dealt a big blow on the country’s food production.

He said, “But our main interest is how they will survive when the flood goes down. All their crops and farmlands are flooded and in most cases even their seedlings, suckers and cassava cuttings must have been destroyed by the flood. We are looking at different options.”

One of the options being considered by the government, he said was importing scarce food items and supplying them to the affected areas.

He said another alternative was to look for species of crops that would mature within a short period after planting.

He added, “Something like maize that takes about three months to mature, we are looking at how we can get the ones that will mature in 60 days.  We are also looking for the rice that will endure some level of flooding. These are the areas the Ministry of Agriculture is working on.”

He said the government believed that constructing additional dams would minimise the impacts of flooding in the future.

He explained that unlike the 1969 flooding when water from the River Niger overran many communities, the bulk of the water that resulted in the present disaster came from the River Benue.

He argued that the Shiroro and Kainji Dams, which were constructed after the 1969 disaster, were able to contend with upsurge of water from the River Niger.

He said the dearth of dams in the Benue axis aggravated the disaster, adding that there was an urgent need for the government to construct dams in the area.

He said it was difficult for any government to plan for natural disasters like flooding, noting that government could only plan for other forms of disasters like the ones that occur in the aviation sector.

He said, “Flooding is not something very common. The last big flood that we experienced in this country was 43 years ago. It is difficult to build an infrastructure to intervene. I have noticed that the flooding we used to experience before came from the River Niger.

“With the completion of the Kainji Dam and the Shiroro Dam, that flooding reduced. This year, when I visited Kogi State and we went to the confluence point, we were told that the bulk of the water came in from Benue.”

Crime / Re: Desola Ade-Unuigbe Supports Aluu Community by Noraokon: 4:55pm On Oct 09, 2012
am sure you don't exist.but i its a pity that you support modern day cannibalism. may God help u.
Etemma1: Jungle Justice: I Am With Aluu Community By Desola Ade Unuigbe

After seeing only two of the pictures that were being circulated about the 4 “innocent” boys murdered by the Aluu community, and hearing bits and pieces of the story surrounding their deaths, I did not even bother to watch the murder video as I again got angry at my country and tweeted a couple of things about how I had lost all hope in the country, and the countrymen.
One of my brothers immediately tackled me on bbm and tried to get me to see things differently. The truth is that I do. And my anger has simply been misinterpreted. And allow me admit here that my deep hatred towards

Nigeria has been overly convincing. I do not hate Nigeria and probably never will. I will probably always carry an unlit torch of hope for her in my heart. Because I am like a mother when it comes to Nigeria; your child does something bad and you want to punish her, let her know that it is unacceptable to treat people in certain ways. But then in the next minute of a positive achievement you are proudly displaying medals and showing her off to your friends.

I am that mother.
Let me start off by pointing out two things that this situation has made me become aware of, firstly, we obviously do not know the whole story about this alleged laptop and phone theft or cultism or armed robbery resulting in the murder of these four students of University of Port Harcourt. Secondly, the Nigerian people have become so confused that they now do not know where to direct their anger. Or humanity. Or inhumanity.
Just to be clear, I do not in anyway whatsoever support that gruesome murder, I do not support the video of that murder, I do not support the people circulating it, I do not support the people who where murdered, and I do not support the community that carried out the murder. But I understand that community.

I am that community.
Humans are by nature animalistic and barbaric people. Before education and literacy, we had no clue how to live, what to eat or what to wear. The only thing that has helped us achieve some sort of civilization and sophistication is education. So all of this, is just a cover up. Because inside of me, I am an animal, and if cornered, the only defense I have of myself and my family is too attack and attack blindly. Animals do not see reason.

It is because we are animals, dressed up as humans, that we have created the law. We need some sort of regulation and guide because if we are left to wander and control ourselves, we would hurt ourselves.
So we have put our faith in people that we have chosen, people that we trust to help us hear our voice and make sane decisions to profit us as a group of people. That is why we have the government. Not to rule us, but to guide us. Somewhere along the line, the Nigerian government must have gotten the wrong message about why they were put in the positions that they are in. I think it started with the oil, but that is another anger entirely.

I’m not going to focus on the empty promises that we have gotten over the decades, or the unfairness to most Nigerians in their own country, because I don’t even know their story. What I do know is this. The Nigerian people have now reached a point where our government is pointless to us. Our ears are filled with empty promises of change, quelled corruption, discovered secrets and hidden loot. We have heard it all, and we have seen it all.

We do not have a functioning police system. The legal system is flawed. The media is tilted in ways we can’t even begin to comprehend. And the government is king. So let me ask this, if there is a crime, a crime so painful and hurtful, one that personally affects you, one that there’s every possibility that the prepertartors will go free. And if you could, if you were given the opportunity to take matters into your own hands, what would you do?
That’s jungle justice.

If someone walks up to me and says to me, “See this man, he is the one that killed your father. We are not totally sure yet, but we have certain reasons to believe he is the one. And if we let him go now he will get away. So take him”. I will take him. I will hurt him. I will cause him pain in all the ways that I have felt pain. That’s jungle justice.

The law says that every man is innocent until proven guilty. True. But who is doing the proving? And how long is it taking? Nigerians are tired and are having to resort to their own hands for justice. And humanity is dead because we are not human, we are animals. The law should be the human, and Nigeria has no law.
So what do we do?

With jungle justice there is usually no fairness or patience to listen to sides. But even our legal system now has no fairness. Are there no innocent people in jail? Are there no innocent men who have been hung while the guilty ones who sacrificed them sit and watch? Nigeria needs jungle justice. And that’s why I am on the side of the Aluu community. Not because I have no emotions, and not because I am completely evil, but because we have gotten to a period where our actions can be our only words. And the government must be forced to hear.

The Nigerian people do not know where to direct their anger. We are now confused people. We should be angry at the system, and not just empty anger, we should be angry such that our actions are our words. And if we can kill ourselves for minimal reasons, why can’t we fight this bloody system? Because the system is bloody. The massacre in Mubi is still fresh off our lips and again we are dealt with another atrocity that the Nigerian government will slyly push aside till a more convenient time.

A lot of people are condemning the act. A lot of people are condemning the people who acted so barbaric and evil. I will not condemn. I am the people. I have been pushed aside and waited and waited for investigations to finish so that I could have justice. For decades. I am tired of waiting. I will take justice in my hand and pull it out whenever I please. I will misuse justice. I will spit on justice like I have been spat on. I will walk all over justice like I have been walked on. I will hurt whoever I have to hurt for the government to see that Nigeria is in chaos. And that they need to make a turnaround. I will shit on justice till the Nigerian government sees me and stops investigating long enough to actually act.

They are still investigating the Mubi Massacre.
They are still investigating the ABSU gang rape.
They are still investigating Boko Haram bombings.
They are still investigating James Ibori’s theft.
They are still investigating corruption in the power sector.
They are still investigating the Dana crash, Sosoliso crash, Bell View crash.
They are still investigating the death of Rotimi Williams.
They are still investigating elections MKO Abiola should have won.
They are still investigating the fuel subsidy scam.
They are still investigating the 2013 budget.
They are still investigating offshore accounts that Abacha had and we can’t find.
They are still investigating.

While they are investigating, let us take justice in our own hands, and channel our anger towards the government. Let them see that we have had enough and wont just mouth off for a couple of days and return to our lives. While they are investigating, let us take a moment to not reflect on the crime of Aluu community, but to reflect on what pushed them there.
That anger is also in all of us.

We are Aluu community.
Again, just to be extra clear on the matter, I do not in anyway whatsoever support that gruesome murder, I do not support the video of that murder, I do not support the people circulating it, I do not support the people who where murdered, and I do not support the community that carried out the murder. But I understand that community.

Politics / Re: What Are The Governors Doing, If GEJ Receives Condemnation For Everything? by Noraokon: 3:56pm On Oct 04, 2012
Idokojimmy: In Nigeria today, the principle of individual responsibility the attends presidential system of Govt has been thrown to the wind, as the president takes responsibility for the actions and inactions of both the National assembly members and the Governors. Although the Governors and legislators have constitutional provisions that grant them funds ranging from Security vote, sitting allowance, constituency project allowance, severance, furniture, wardrobe allowance and so on, these people sit down in their various offices doing nothing, while exposing GEJ to severe criticism. If there is flood in your state, blame GEJ. If there is land disputes, it's GEJ, if there is no water(common water) GEJ is not working. What in your opinion are the roles of our state Governors and national assembly members? Have they performed up to expectation? Abeg make we reason o!

Politics / Oyerinde : Court Awards N5 Million To Ugulor Against Police by Noraokon: 7:17am On Sep 15, 2012
Benin High Court yesterday awarded N5 million as damages against the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for unlawful detention of human rights activist, Rev. David Ugolor.

Besides, the court presided by Justice Esther Edigin ordered the Police to stop forthwith any further arrest of the applicant.

Justice Esther Edigin in her ruling earlier threw away a motion for extension of time filed by the police, saying that the reason adduced by the Police Counsel in the supporting affidavits were contradictory and therefore unreliable.

According to her, “the affidavit proved that the respondents were served. I find that the respondent in a bid to pull wool over this court failed. It is an application unknown to law. It lacks merit and appropriately dismissed."

The court ruling delivered by Justice Edigin  was sequel to an earlier ruling by the court on August 16, 2012 wherein it ordered the immediate release of the activist.
Incidentally, two weeks after the order, the police held on to Ugolor explaining that it was not properly served.

Besides, the security operatives sought for an extension of time to enable it respond to the motion on notice brought against it by counsel to Ugolor, Mr. Olayiwola Afolabi for defamation of character and breach of fundamental human rights of the applicant.

Afolabi had also argued that the respondent have continued to violate the fundamental human rights of the applicant; even when operatives of the State Security Service (SSS) had paraded the alleged killers of the slain Oyerinde.

Ugolor was picked up by the security operatives on July 27, 2012 after one of the suspects in its custody allegedly named him as accomplice in the murder of Comrade Olaitan Oyerinde, the principal private secretary to Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State.

Reacting to the ruling however, counsel to the police, Mr. David Abuo expressed dissatisfaction, noting that they will appeal the ruling.

Politics / “N5000 Note Will Reduce Inflation!” Says CBN by Noraokon: 5:39am On Sep 10, 2012
The Central Bank of Nigeria and its agents have been very active, as should be expected, in promoting the merits of the proposed N5000 note.
The apex bank’s advertorial maintains that “currency restructuring does not cause inflation in any form whatsoever, as it will not increase money supply.”  This observation, of course, is unassailable, if all things remain equal; in other words, so long as the velocity or the speed of spending money remains the same, there will be no increase in money supply.

If on the other hand, the N5000 note, for example, is speedily offloaded on receipt in order to unbundle the value, there is no doubt that the velocity of currency in circulation would increase and create the same impact as increase in money supply; so, CBN’s claims that the N5000 note will not induce inflation needs to be qualified!

Inexplicably, the CBN advertorial further stretches the argument on inflation, when it suggests that “currency restructuring may actually help in tackling inflation”!  If indeed reduced inflation rates coincided with the introduction of higher denomination notes in the past, the apex bank has not provided evidence that the drop was the direct result of higher denominations introduced.

Indeed, any insistence of a causative relationship will be an outright contradiction of CBN’s open admission that inflation is the product of increase in money supply, as the converse of that is that lower inflation rate is the product of reduction in money supply.

In other words, if higher denominations do not increase money supply, CBN cannot also prove that higher denominations will reduce money supply and lower the inflation rate, especially when it is incontestable that the proposed higher denomination, in conjunction with the cashless programme and coin profile, will ultimately increase the velocity of money in circulation with the same result as increasing money supply.
