plaetton: No jazz, no magic.
The human mind is like clay. It is very very malleable. This goes to prove, and I have argued before, that there is no freewill. The mind is always always fully or partially encumbered by the very nature of it's evolution.
We are hardly independent personalities viewing and judging reality from a distance. No. Rather, are network of neural interactions, mirroring , expressing and trying to validate individual selves through our environments.
My point in all this is that the mind is porous and akways open to hacking and subtle manipulation, especially when you have the perfect combination of fear, superstition, ignorance and hopeless poverty. Believe it or not, about 90%or more of people want to be controlled or led. They want another person, a stronger mind, to define reality to them and break it down in small chewable bits, with plenty of sugar. . This is why Africa and other poverty laden societies provide the perfect inexhaustible resources for religious fraudsters and hustlers. wow!!! Here's a post I love!!! |

That Manager would not dare try that in a developed country unless he has money for a lawsuit.
Even if the employee insulted his manager's mum, the employee is still entitled to disciplinary hearing first before anything else.

Hey nairalanders! I hope this topic is in the right place? Alright! Here's the story, I work in a pharmaceutical company and our boss is an Indian who has been in Nigeria for more than 20 years!! I think since 1992! He's the best boss a man can ask for and equally a great pet lover! He has 3 dogs. So 2 weeks ago, one of his dogs was very sick and died while he was at work; he became extremely moody which was so unlike him; speaking in English unlike his constant reference to yoruba and pidgin. One of my colleagues then told him to' get over it, shey na just dog na' and for the first time I saw anger blazing literally from his eyes. He sent him out and was very cold to him since then. Today, he fired him just like that! So so surprised and shocked!! Is this really worth it?? I love dogs! But isn't this extreme? Cc lalasticlala et all |

genieluv: My bro, u must not insult to make a point. As u can see, the OP acknowledged Akunyili's influence but the point he made is very valid. Margaret Ekpo and Funmilayo Kuti started fighting for the rights of women even before Akunyili was born, both women fought for the relevenace of women in the independent Nigeria while Ladi Kwali's works were presented as Objects of National pride at the internationa centre on Independence day to the extent that she graced our naira note. Haba my Brother let's be fair to ourselves here. Dora is great, i love her and her legacy, but truly she cannot be in same league with these listed women. I choose to disagree!!! The crisis of their time( i.e ransome Kuti et al) is nothing compared to what we face at present!!! I lost an uncle to fake diuretic drugs, I grew up in a society where chalk was served as antibiotics!! You might not appreciate what she did because you're not in the line of business that I belong to but Akunyili brought sanity, dignity and ethics to a dead and decaying pharmaceutical and health sector! |
