Slikbae:U aren't very bright, are u? Think before u type. Let me teach u how to think. Everything u wrote that I am quoting right now has no iota of sense in it. Because some Christians made some discovery doesn't mean that their Christianity helped them make the discovery or that the discoveries wouldn't have been made without them. That's a counterfactual fallacy. If they didn't make the discoveries anybody else could have. Same goes for discoveries made by atheists or anybody else for that matter. Learn to think before typing. |
Whenever I read nonsense like this, I just wish these Christians that propagate this nonsense will be immediately raptured with their delusions so the world can actually become a better place |
KingEbukasBlog:I agree with this |
Mediator97:So no one existed before the birth of Christ? How u guys are able to type on nairaland with the kind of brain power u possess amazes me |
hopefullandlurd:Yeah. And he should also pull a list of fire incidents over the past 5 years from the Lagos state fire service to prove that there has been more fire incidences this year and Suleiman had a premonition of it. This is the information age. One clown can fool his followers but he can't fool smarter people with functional brains. |
Jacksonville ****. The drivel u wrote up there is too much to be quoted. So I have mentioned u one more time. U still aren't making sense. U should provide proof about the 5 bombs that were averted and the dates or keep shut like I advised. None of us takes u and ur joke of a prophet seriously U said the man is presently holding a crusade in London and he is helping people daily. How does that stop him from being a scam. Pablo Escobar, the drug kingpin, actually helped more people than ur tin god is doing. So how the fact that he helps a few people after scamming a thousand more helps ur argument is what I can't fathom. He talked about Lagos beforehand when? Unless u have been living under a rock for the past 10 years, Lagos always have a lot of recorded fire incidences every year. U are obviously not very bright trying to use that argument here. U must think nairaland is filled with Suleiman zombies. I like the fact that u excused his failed prophecies as some form of glitch to be expected. We will keep analysing the fraud u call a prophet every year and point out his fraudulent prophecies. **** |
Jacksonville: ...U are just another dimwitted Suleiman worshipper. When did the emboldened happen? Bombs go off in Syria every time. Give me a specific time when two exploded and 5 didn't. Fire outbreaks occur in Lagos every time. Since last year. I would even say there have been less fire outbreaks this year. Last year it was markets getting burnt. Suleiman is a scam. He just studies trends and makes predictions that conforms to it. Google analytics does better than that fraud. So shut ur mouth and crawl back into ur gullible bubble. I have done an analysis of Suleiman's yearly prophecies and his success rate is less than 40% |
KingEbukasBlog:Ebuka again? I usually don't like to get into an argument with u because I know u are smart, probably one of the smartest Christians on this section, and u understand opposing arguments but choose to argue anyway and usually pretend not to know the point the other person is making. I will indulge u for today just because of other people who will be misled by this ur comment. The topic makes a bold assertion: scientists don't like Richard Dawkins. Apart from being a shameless click-bait, what the title assures us is that once we read the article, we should find at least a majority of scientists claiming to dislike Dawkins; it failed on that account. Awfully. Now on reading further, we find that some minority number of scientists do not approve of Dawkins methods. That doesn't suggest they dislike the man, some would just rather hope he uses another approach. The same way I do not approve of ur deliberate misrepresentation of my arguments here but that doesn't mean I dislike u. If anything admire the logical counterbalance u sometimes provide against certain atheist arguments here. I actually don't like Dawkins brand of atheism too. It's just too reminiscent of crusading Christians but I am indifferent about the man. Sometimes I feel he is needed to balance religious blindness that precludes human development and at other times I feel he overdoes it. Throughout the article we find even fewer people stating they dislike the man outrightly and at least half of those people are probably very religious. That's my point |
felixomor:**** If u had a much deeper logical savvy, u would have been able to come to a conclusion that the minor percentage who claim not to like Dawkins are probably the few religious scientists who are offended by his constant attack on religion and thus ur first comment on this thread would have been a little more measured. I don't expect u to even understand anything I wrote just now though. I expect u to reply me with one or two illogical nonsense and move on. |
Prinzofparis:So January is no longer the felt resumption date anymore. It's now the felt call up date. Hahahaha. Una go wound person for this thread. Make God sha answer all of us prayer |
".......It is astonishing that the Bible was written by forty men over a period of 1600 years, yet their writings are compatible, in agreement, in one accord, related, consistent, orderly and harmonious.” Hahahaha. It's very obvious this mofo hasn't actually read the Bible thoroughly. He is still basking in the euphoria of a new found belief. And he is enjoying the attention that comes with it hence the need to pen down the above nonsense he considers a sensible argument. Don't worry Majid, read on. U will soon find so many inconsistencies that u will come revert back to where u came from. We know ur type. Soon u will pull a Lynxx on us. BTW, the reason we believe most historians is because their story is usually corroborated by their contemporaries. There's usually archaeological evidence to back it up too. That cannot be said for most stories in the bible. They are either usually apocryphal, never corroborated by evidence and contemporaries, or even contradicted by other passages in the bible itself. We approach history with doubt at first and then, as evidence grows, we begin to believe that the stories are true and as newer evidence comes to light, we adjust our beliefs to accommodate them. That's science. In religion, every thing written down, mostly by men with ulterior motives, is assumed to be true and unquestionable. That, in itself, is a great lie. |
Christians should learn to start being humble enough to say "I don't know" when questions like this arise. Instead of giving rather senseless answers that raises more questions and quoting a lot of unrelated bible verses that only reminds us of their ability to memorise rather than thinking logically most times. |
TomHagen:Things that will make me believe in rain-making: 1. A rain-maker makes it rain in dry season 3 times consecutively at decided hours. 2. A rain-maker makes it rain on a spot we choose or an area we choose without raining outside that specific area. I have a lot of so-called rain-maker in my family. Those fuckers are frauds. They usually study the weather and tell u they will make it rain if u don't pay them before holding a party or gathering. Call their bluff and nothing happens half of the time. Pay them and it still rains half the time. When u ask them why it still rained after paying them, they claim it's some other rain maker that reneged on the agreement. People don't take them seriously anymore |
jonbellion:Something between theism and deism is more like it. I just abhor organised religion and mindless belief |
hahn:Guy why u like trouble like this? Person don run go change im name to woman own and u still dey ask am of 500k? Fear God o. ![]() |
jonbellion:Deist is close but not quite it. |
Pidggin:That moment when u are faced with the weakness in ur arguments and u realise it but just decide to ramble on in order to save face. U shouldnt have said anything. At no point in that incoherent nonsense u just wrote did u come any close to saying something remotely intelligent. Not an atheist by the way. |
Pidggin:U guys just don't engage in deep thinking, do u? I will say it again for u to understand: the preponderance of a belief or action does not always validate the belief or action. Take the killing of twins that used to occur in Nigeria as an example, some people used to see twins as a bad omen. Twins were killed in the thousands because of people like u. I am sure there was someone named Pidggin back then too who stood his ground claiming that killing twins was a necessity arguing that "if it isn't true, why have our ancestors been killing them?" |
raphieMontella:Promise10 probably thinks WWE is real too and that Barney is a real magical dinosaur. ![]() |
promise10:Yes u made some claim about the efficacy of juju like as if u have one. And when u were called out on it, u hid like a chicken and started claiming u don't know where one is done u were just making an argument. The same way u are claiming the video up there is juju. Have u noticed that smarter Christians have not commented on this thread to support that claim? It because they are smart and know better. Which is more than I can say for u. Let me correct one impression u have, I am no atheist. My lack of belief in that video as an evidence of magic does not mean I do not believe in God. U must think everyone who uses his brain is an atheist. No wonder modern Christianity is championed by thoughtless zombies. Now let me get ur argument straight. Are u seriously saying that the inability of any of us here to show mastery of the skills required to pull off the tricks in that video means it is actually magic? That will be a new low in irrationality. That's like saying Usain Bolt runs using magic because none of us can run as fast as he does. |
promise10:This one is irredeemable. This same guy that couldn't give us proof of his juju is here mouthing off. There are many videos online to show how such sleight of hand is done but u wouldn't even bother to educate urself. Anything that challenges ur beliefs is usually avoided by people like u. If u believe that stuff up there is actually magic and not tricks then u need to be re-educated. |
GoodMuyis:Truth is revealed? More like truth is bereaved. ![]() Try harder. Is this what u call juju? Are u that gullible? U better watch d video well and follow his other hand. |
Thashen:U are making my point for me. Why is he focusing on the abdomen? Why not the whole body? I was expecting more from that video. If he really has the power to spontaneously reduce stomach fat that way, why isn't he reducing all the fats around the body? Why the stomach alone? Doing the rest of the body should be just as easy if it's a miracle for real. People should come there very fat and go home trim |
Hahahaha. Bushiri is a goddamn fraud. Please everyone watch those videos and laugh with me. How come his "miraculous" weight loss is only limited to the stomach? If someone's to lose weight they lose it all around their body. They lose fat from their stomachs, arms, necks, thighs etc... The arms and thighs are usually the best indicators of weight loss not the stomach which can easily be contracted. That video just shows there aren't a lot of intelligent people in that church and that followers will always play along with whatever a pastor says with a belief that it will actually work. I was even expecting to see a real obese person become totally slim on live TV. |
KingEbukasBlog:Seriously? U are kidding right? Do u know how many crusades and camps I have gone to? Do u know how many people come there wheeled in or sprawled on the ground seeking miracles? Why are u like this? Let me make it simpler for u. Next time u go to a crusade and see people getting healed, don't count the number that claim to be healed. Count the number that went home disappointed. |
KingEbukasBlog:LOL Ebuka. Typical dishonest Nigerian Christian. When such things happen and it gets to Nairaland front page, u will be the first to claim they aren't true Christiana but pretenders perverting the word of God. Now asking for evidence they do it? I don't even have the time for a futile argument |
KingEbukasBlog:Evidence for what claim please? |
Thashen:Actually this is false. Have u ever heard of medicenes sans frontier? Or The Red Cross? Those guys actively seek out the sickk in underdeveloped regions and treat them or vaccinate them. If there's a cure for aids today, u can bet it will work at least 80% of the time. Unlike in churches where a 1000 vetted cripple come and only one or two whose history isn't known are healed. |
Thashen:I can't answer this until I see a video of it. Too many people make too many claims. Even Harry Houdini could make a live elephant disappear on stage. It wasnt magic. Just a few tricks here and there. We have to see the video to comment on it. |
Thashen:If u are a Nigerian, u won't be asking if someone can claim he has HIV just to make a quick buck. There are too many cases of it. There is even one that happened on Nairaland two years ago. I will find u the link maybe u will see that there is no limit to how low humans will stoop for fame and money. In Nigeria, pastors send accomplices to bury charms and other fetish objects in people's houses overnight then come back the next money to pray and have a "revelation" that something is buried in the compound then dig it up and claim they have delivered the family. Too many miracle performing syndicates get caught almost every year and usually because they had a disagreement over their sharing formula. So Bushiri isn't even half as skilled as the average Nigerian spiritual racketeer. If u spend some time in Nigeria, u will understand why I am a skeptic. This played out on Nairaland here. Just one example of what goes on in Nigeria everyday. https://www.nairaland.com/1995144/breaking-news-joagbajes-miracle-hiv |
The OP got it all wrong. Nobody is saying religion is directly causing ills in the society (sometimes it does, like in the case of children being accused of witchcraft in some parts of Nigeria encouraged by the pastors in that area) but what they are saying is that religion permits ills to remain and usually contribute to the perpetuation of such ills. Exhibit 1: Almost all corrupt politicians who rob the country blind are religious. U will find them in the front row of ur religious houses displaying the wealth gotten at d expense of development and nobody calls them to order. Even pastors seem to revere them and accord them more attention than others. These people give part of this I'll wealth to the church and the churches accept it. Everyday u hear the pastor preaching about seeing someone whose enemies are out to get him but I am waiting for the day we hear a pastor call out a politician and tell him he shouldn't steal the money he is planning to steal d next day. Exhibit 2: Irresponsibility and passing the buck. When people fail, they are supposed to learn from their failure and improve upon it. We have heard of great men who failed so many times before achieving greatness. Failure is supposed to help one course-correct and learn from experience. Religion has instead shifted the blames for failure to imaginary enemies. Pastors, especially the ones who claim to be running a deliverance ministry, have helped raise a paranoid and irresponsible generation. Instead of learning from mistakes, people rush to church and start praying hard then come back to repeat the mistakes again. I have studied Jehovah's Witnesses and MFMs, I don't see any difference between the quality of life among the two. Even though MFM devote their time to the vanquishing of their enemies, they don't seem any better off for it. So they must have spent much of that time in futility. Probably explains why they have to fight spiritual powers ad infinitum I could go on and on but u get the gist. |
