Aigbofa: You don't need all that bitterness. What you need is to become my wife ASAP.
You think you will land an Igbo hottie with this your mindset ?? Less I forget, the same Chinua you accused of tribalism and bitterness gave out her daughter to a Yoruba man! The change starts with the "man in the mirro". Achebe is a noble man!

igbo boy: Ask about me on Nairaland I no dey carry igbo take play, so no think I am attacking you on this one. take this as a nwanna to a nwanna...

One thing about my Eastern Igbo Brothers is that you guys seem not to get the complexities of western Igboland.

Maybe apart from Oshimili the more west you go in igboland the more varying the culture, traditions, dialects mostly due to the Benin kingdom. Do you know our so called igbo red hat, i have seen mallams in the north wear the exact same thing? The Oba of Bini red hat tend to be more flat.

For the four market days argument, you might be right but your argument to me is based on coincidence (there is even less of a coincidence and more of insinuations) rather than clear cut evidence.

I like to learn history so nwanne kuzi'm history ndi Nri...
So nwanne, you don't know much about the Nri hegemony, right ?

Aigbofa,Desola and Prof.corruption, did you nut jobs see what hate does to a man's image?? Why is it that some ppl can't put tribalism aside and speak a simple breath saving truth...I will be very ashamed of myself if I was a yoruba and stumble on this thread. And look at how well behaved, honest and forthright the IGBO you guys are dealing with has been.

PoliticsRe: A New Vista Of War As Eleme Battle Ogoni by NRIPRIEST(m): 11:44pm On Dec 20, 2012
Goodgoody1: If the people of Eleme claims they are not Ogonies by virtue of name can they tell the world where they migrated from. Every tribe in this world came from some where and landed some where. Majority of the villages of Eleme migrated from Gokhana, and for fear of not answering OGONI PURE PURE which was a form of abuse melted on the Ogonis in those days they re-framed to the claim of not been OGONIS. It is clear and most of them know that is is clear. The language they speak and is called Eleme, which other does it resemble in Nigeria, they do not belong to the Okrika clan, neither do they belong to the Ikwere clans which are their immediate neighbours where on earth did they appear from. When a child grows up and does not ask questions about his ancestors he grows up to claim he is me meaning nothing. They should write their history and publish to the hearing of the world to read.
I like them because when it is hot between them and the Ogu and Okrika, they run down to become Ogonis and when it is cool no war no crisis they are not Ogonis, may God help them
Dejavu!
When an Ikwerre nor Ika man is ready to run for president they will remember they are Igbo. Just like GEJ remembered his Igbo names during his presidential campaign.....
CultureRe: Delta Igbo, Bendel Igbo: What Does That Even Mean. by NRIPRIEST(m): 9:27pm On Dec 20, 2012
PhysicsQED: I remember that thread, and I showed clearly that they were not even the same hat after which you stopped making that bizarre argument, although now you seem to have returned to the same claim. How you can think that modern red or white hat has to do with some other culture's title system I don't even know. But as for Ikenga, this is the first I'm hearing that that was a specifically Nri thing. Anyway, Benin seems to have gotten it (Ikegobo) from neighboring groups that were conquered during its wars of expansion in the 15th century, and not actually directly from Nri. See the article "The Ishan cult of the hand" (1987) for more on that. So there was no direct Nri to Benin transmission of that idea if it actually was originally exclusive to Nri. On the market days, I have argued that out with ezeagu at length elsewhere and don't feel like repeating myself so I'll summarize: I am not convinced about the claim and it still seems to me that the day names come from common names for the four quadrants of the earth/four cardinal directions, since three out of those four names can even be found in the Yoruba names for the four quadrants in slightly different forms.
There are too many holes in this your post; What's the population of Ishan and when was the community established?? Its gonna talk forever should we start debating the bogus claim you made here. How old is Benin kingdom compare to Nri kingdom ? The ancient originating shrines from which the market days names were borrowed from still exist in Agukwu-Nri way from when Ifikuanim established the kingdom. This is before the Benin kinddom was created. You are talking about Ishan that was probably non existing in the 15 century. And yes Ikenga is an absolute Nri creation because even the word "Ikenga" has a meaning in Anambra-Igbo. The Nze na Ozo red hat was introduced by the Nri in depiction of what the noble title signifies. Nobody in southern Nigeria wore that hat but the Ozo titled chieves but today all Igbos,Igala,Ika and even the Erediuwa wears it but we all know the Benin wore the hat made from knitted red beads. I don't know what you are trying to prove. Some Anioma wear that's beaded hat but it foreign to the Igbo culture and its well understood that it originated from Benin. The Oba of Benin wears the red hat but it was introduced by the Igbo, period!

CultureRe: Why Africans Go By Their European Or Arab Names? by NRIPRIEST(m): 1:56pm On Dec 20, 2012
igbo2011: I know my kids are getting Igbo names but with my mindset I would never give them a European or Arab name. I would rather give a different African ethnicity before iChat. Don't get me wrong I love being Igbo and I love the culture and history. My father told me stories about Biafra nd that really inspired me. My grandparents generation were building so much. Inspired me to maybe open an engineering company in the future.. My parents told me that Igbos are very industrial and entrepreneurial. It inspired me to do business and start businesses when I was very young.

I don't hate being Igbo bro I love it to death. All I talk about is Africa.

Thoth and @nri priest

Will you give your kids baptized or European names
Come on,dude..Doesn't my handle tell you a little about my cultural consiousness ?? It will be a big insult to my ancestors if I dare to give my children a non-Igbo name! No I won't !

About great ppl who lived and what made our town tick. How I wish I can bring back the ancient Igboland with all her traditions.

igbo boy: Nna amaam about Nri influencing Benin or the Oba of benin's hat being from Nri...That is too much of a bold statement with no fact to back it up.

I think it is rather safe to say that Benin Kingdom had no influence on NRI
Nwanne, the Benin adopted the Nri market days/days of the week which was invented by the Nri,the Ikenga cult and I have seen the Erediuwa wearing the red hat. I argued it with Physics himself and he dared me to prove it and I posted a picture of the Oba wearing the "nze na ozo" hat and the case was closed right then and there. I don't peddle lies. One thing I have noticed on this NL is that ppl are very ignorant of the Nri influence. Maybe beause the Nri never wielded military power, rather it was religious influence that they exude.

However, you must remember that Eze-Promo presents his teachings in Standard Igbo, which is different from what I'm writing with.

Agbotaen, has been beaten to stupor with facts here on so many occasion but he still won't give up...He has been caught lieing on so many occasion but he is shameless. The pic he posted has a man that dressed like an "nze na ozo" noble man but he will tell you he is benin. This scum is even ignorant(or plain dumb) of the fact that the Nri kingdom influenced the Benin kingdom in so many ways. Hell, the Nri doesn't practice any Benin traditions but the Benin used and adopted Nri traditions. The current Oba of Benin even wears the "Nze na Ozo" hat! We borrowed from each other.
