Nowenuse: Okay, sorry for that.
Most Orons speak Efik as a 2nd language and seem very proud to identity with Efik. But they seem not to be too cool with Ibibio. I have asked some Orons if they considered themselves a part of Efik and they gave the affirmative.
How about Eket (Ekid) being a subgroup of Ibibio?
The funny thing is that in many colonial documents, all Efiks, Anangs, Oros and everyone else were classified as Ibibios. The Europeans first, then local politics got us where we are to today but a good student will look at every group around this region without the need of scientific or anthropological studies and laugh at any of us that that have a common name for GOD Listen to every group origin in this region and tell me how many of it is close to making sense? The Yorubas, Hausas and Igbos from towns to towns have dialectic, pronunciation, dress and other variant differences yet they still have a centralised language and that is not different down here The more the youths in this region get educated and enlightened the better and not them listening to grandpapa and grandmama tales |

Beachside: There are roughly 16 Ethnic nations in Nigeria. Where did you get 25 ? Below is my best description of akwacross, calabar or efik/ibibio :
Calabarians(Efik,Ibibio,Ekid,Oron,Annang, etc) are an ethnic group and city-state nation(Calabar). Currently part of the Nigerian federation. Calabar consist of autonomous districts or Communities&dialects( (Efik,Ibibio,Ekid,Oron,Annang, etc). Apart from English, Efik dialect is the standard and official Calabarian Language. Ibibio district has the largest population . Calabar's population is estimated at 5 Million. Geography &Climate : Rain-forest Tropical climate , Hills, sandy coastal plain ,rivers ,Islands, creeks, flatlands. Seat of government is ideally an independent 3000 acre island(John island), located at Efik district.
Calabar consists of all the local governments areas in present day akwa ibom and a few local government areas in Cross river state (Calabar,Odukpani,Biase,Akampka,Akpabuyo, etc) and Bakassi(if ever retrieved) in Cameroon. No one is forced to be part of Calabar , that's why each district is autonomous . Each district is governed by a district manager , and each represented by 3 or more chiefs in the center. Power lies with the districts and house of chiefs , while Calabar governorship is ceremonial.
Whether Calabar is part of the Nigerian federation ,West African confederation, or an independent nation; autonomy is ultimately desired and preferred. Below is Calabarian Flag.
P.S either that or simply classify the districts as : Calabar west(Annang land) ,Calabar Central(ibibio land),Calabar East(Efik land ),Calabar South(Oron land) ,Calabar North (Ejagham land, etc. etc ) This dude seems to have some points but even the word Calabar is Portuguese maybe something truly indigenous and acceptable to all will be better. Like the word Abasi Obasi is something the entire region know as GOD |

Note/Disclaimer*
1) This statistics is in no way indicative of the population of these ethnic groups. Rather it is just a show of their political spread and classifications.
2) Some related ethnic groups classified together here have a controversial stance on either being together or being very distinct from one another. However, for the sake of ease of putting this piece together, similar ethnic groups who have been classified together one way or the other in the past were classified together.
3) This research was done based on indigeneship, not overall population outside the native homelands of these ethnic groups.
4) This piece was compiled after a lot of research, however it is certainly not likely to be 100% correct. Corrections are highly welcomed. Where are the FOOLI-SH mods they wont take this to front page but if it Bobrisky pant and every other nonsense it would be there long time |

Blackking98: Nairaland has many Akwa ibomites and on it, just because 3 or 4 people say we have nothing to do with each other you feel that's what the majority think? You should learn to ignore those division mongers as they're in the minority, the majority of us are advocate of unity. The second person who says Annang has nothing to do with us, what language did he insult u in, isn't it ibibio, you'd know that he is just massaging his ego and nothing else. A United Akwa Ibom and Efik will be a more fruitful endeavor than being disunited . I don't know why Nsiba and blackking98 should be taking you serious seeing that u shot yourself in the foot when claimed you ain't even in the country nor where u bred from here and only the few months u stayed in Abak made u come up with this whack idea and stupid thread u created. Sorry Efiks, Ibibos, Annangs are all one and there is no matter of propaganda u can come up with that will separate them. For your information I be Eyen Amana Isong Ibibio from Itiam Etoi in Uyo local government Area. So change your moniker cos you're not Ibibio rather you're just a clown that has lost her cultural identity in a foreign land (that's if the claims of u staying abroad is even true) . HeeBraHim2: According to d ranking list that came out this recently. They choose five tribes that happen to be the largest and the biggest tribe in Nigeria
1, YORUBA. this is not new that yorubas are nice and friendly, they don't have problem with people. They are even the richest tribe in Africa according to Forbes. BINNIS, bennin people are also friendly, beautiful and humble. May be it's because they shared alot of things with YORUBA HAUSA, despite all the bad name everywhere, hausa people still manage to make it to top 3. Though it's thier humbleness that speak for them.
FULANI, I started suspecting the list here when I don't see the tribe I expected, buh in the other hand, I think they are right Sha.
IGBO, this is the money tribe in the whole africa, they are nice, friendly buh they always get problem with othe tribesr when it turn to money matter. Buh anywat Sha they has alot of tribes behind them. . Whosever compiled this is the biggest and most idiotic person on the universe |

Blackking98: True man true. I don't see what people gain by further subdiving people unnecessarily, yesterday I was watching a program on NTA about languages and culture, while interviewing people on the streets of yaba and asking where they're from and to speak their language, all the "Calabar" people encountered were Akwa ibomites, just one Efik person, and the Akwa ibomites were very happy and comfortable being referred to as Calabar, yet one jobless online researcher is subdividing people in her imagination, cus in reality the Barriers separating Akwa Ibom and Efik is getting slimmer and disappearing by the day, I'm an ibibio man, but I speak Efik way better than ibibio, I use Efik most of the time, not only me, so many of us use it and are happy with it, vice versa for efiks, annangs and oron who speak ibibio cus it's understood on both sides of the river dividing Akwa Ibom and Cross river. No need diving ourselves into splinter groups unnecessarily, I support you too, you guys really need to come together and form an identity on your own because it seems like the hausa fulani Always want to overshadow and dominate u guys then shout one north when elections are around . I feel you the middle-belt has never been defeated and not in this era will they be..they r d uniting factor n we will always stand with them |
