Adakintroy:Perfectly summarized |
scholes0:Thanks for that feedback and for your insight. |
scholes0:I'm curious though, also. Could there be any link with the fact that Nok art is found near their site and Esie (Yoruba sculptures) and other forms of Yoruba art look like Nok art? They also speak a language which falls under the Volta-Niger cluster -- "Gb" consonant and "kp" consonant Note that they also see that head as sacred, but treat it moreso as such than the Yorubas do. Just asking questions. (note: I think Nok is actually found in the Atyap section, but they live immediately close to Gbagyi) |
BrownLondon:I am not land grabbing. I am searching for history |
Thank you all for your feedback. All very eye opening. Keep them coming please |
dwizzed:They even have city police. The NYPD is for New York City alone, so is LAPD |
Are the Yorubas related to the Gbagyi people of the middle belt of Nigeria? Anyone with any knowledge here? |
Built2last:Let them try |
Origin:Yup |
GeoAfrikana:Exactly. Who was there to see him get killed? Noone. It is just speculation, they even admitted that in the article. People have to understand that Europeans have historically had no problems in making darker skinned people look like trash, and will continue to do it as long as it justifies them. Of course, this is not all European behavior, I should add |
EMMY76:I think they migrated from Africa a long time back, personally. They look like none of their neighbors and I would expect genetic expression to form a gradient pattern, not sharp distinctions as we see in their case. Furthermore, their face and body painting, scarification and thatched roofs, suggest some similarities. This is my opinion |
Nigsrdumb:Imagine feeling sorry for white conquerors |
ajl:"Apparently most Africans have learnt nothing from history. They still believe everything written so far it's by a whiteman. How do you know this is not one of their typical fake tales my moonlight stories. Remember that most of their stories about tribe people have been debunked in the past." |
Barayeks:Exactly |
PrinceInTheNort:This is the problem. Stop accepting. Hausas accept everything that happens to them. It is costly. You have the power to change your destiny, for your betterment and for the betterment of your children after you. Stop saying Inshallah/Alhamdulillah after everything, take steps to making a change |
Good, now Amotekun can expand into Kwara and Kogi and nobody better say anything too |
ofeco:To be fair, he goes on to mention that he was sold from "Mohammedan" to "Mohammedan" down to the coast; my best guess is that muslim Yorubas with fulani connections helped move the captives from the hinterland down to the coast as the fulani likely didn't ride down to the coast themselves |
ofeco:The Fulani raided his village in Oyo. He literally has a biography about this on the internet. Just use google. His village in Oyo was surprise raided by the Fulani and they captured and sold the villagers, including him |
So Ghana president has apologized and there have been arrests made for the attack in Ghana, meaning it was the act of a rebel group. Now we want to punish Ghana for not controlling insurgencies within its country. SMH. Who are we to talk? Boko Haram, Illegal Herdsmen, Bandits, all sorts of instability, yet we want to take retaliation against Ghana for a rebel groups criminal action that the country has clearly condemned. May God punish us if we don't show understanding; we are the biggest hypocrites |
Does anybody know how we can help the family? Please share info |
You people are playing with fire. The Confucius Institute is well-known to be linked to the Chinese Communist Party, which is a Chinese state Propaganda machine. This is horrible. I assert, that Nigerian schools should teach world history; ask Taiwan Hong Kong, Mongolia, for advice, they will all tell you to run far |
GodPunishBiafra:Please elaborate |
I don't know why anyone ever expected any love from China. We are courting a brutal dictatorship and asking why they don't love us. This is what happens when you buy into a "we are the world" mentality and you don't learn world history. You will become bird food for the predator. In the States, they teach World history as a compulsory subject, and people get opportunities to learn about the nature of the government in China. Nigeria should do the same. More than just social studies and regional history, world history should be taught so that the common citizens understand how each government in the world operates and who to steer clear of. |
Damn, this woman's music is just the best. She's Bariba -- they are in Nigeria and Benin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pX7e8sQattI |
So, I complied a list of the most populated West African groups. These are the most populated 15 to 16 and my concept is to group West Africa in sensible cultural clusters that can be used to unite West Africa eventually into sensible divisions. See as follows: People.........................Language (or Language group) 1) Yoruba people.........................Yoruba 2) Hausa people.........................Hausa 3) Igbo people.........................Igbo 4) Mande people.........................Mandinka/Bambara 5) Akan people.........................Ashanti Twi 6) Fulani People.........................Fufulde 7) Ijaw people.........................An Ijaw Language 8 )Ibibio people.........................Ibibio 9) Kanuri people.........................Kanuri 10) Gbagyi people.........................Gbagyi 11) Wolof people.........................Wolof 12) Tiv people.........................Tiv 13) Ewe people.........................Ewe 14) Mossi people.........................Mossi 15) Songhai people.........................Songhai 16) Fon people.........................Fon The top 15 groups can be further culturally divided as follows: Coastal:.........................Yoruba-------Akan-------Ewe Riverine:.........................Igbo-------Ibibio-------Ijaw Midwest Sahelian:.........................Hausa-------Kanuri-------Songhai Western Sahelian:.........................Mande-------Fulani-------Wolof Inland/Interior:.........................Gbagyi-------Tiv-------Mossi The capital cities of these regions could easily be as follows: Coastal:.........................Eko (Lagos)-------Abidjan-------Accra-------Monrovia-------Freetown Riverine:.........................Enugu-------Calabar-------Port Harcourt-------Onitsa-------Aba/Idah Midwestern Sahelian:.........................Kano-------Maiduguri-------Niamey-------Sokoto-------Zaria/Daura Western Sahelian:.........................Dakar-------Conakry-------Bamako-------Nouakchott-------Timbuktu/Mopti Inland/Interior:.........................Abuja-------Kaduna-------Jos-------Ougadogou-------Minna/Makurdi My end vision is for Western Africa to become one seamless country, like the United Sates. If Cameroon could join the Riverine and Chad could join the Midwestern Sahelian, that could be culturally workable too. Each of these regions could even serve as their own sub-governmental level; e.g. a governmental level somewhere between a country(West Africa) and a lower level, like a state. I think this will be ultimately more satisfying for West Africa. Thoughts ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? |
franksunny:No doubt, even if the sickness takes out everyone over 59 years of age, and everyone with asthma or other underlying health issues, others' immune systems will eventually get over it. But the damage could be incredibly irreversible |
Flets:They can prescribe it. It's already being used to treat arthritis and one other condition. The FDA acknowledges it is not dangerous, or else it wouldn't already be in use. They just can't cosign it being used to tread covid, so they don't get in trouble if they end up being wrong, and take blame for any ill side effects correlated with wide usage of the drug at this time. It's all legal bs |
Beachside:Lol, no contrary opinions, I just want to know where you found that book |
I keep entertaining the thought of which division scheme would have been best for helping Nigerians both understand ourselves and live together in peace. I ran into this article online and thought I'd share. I personally think it's the best thing I've found on the topic and think Nigeria would have been better if it was thus divided: The True Picture Of The Nigerian Situation And The Final Solution opera.comJan 3, 2020 1:09 AM There are 15 ethnic nations in Nigeria ,not 700 tribes like Nigerians claim. There's no such thing as tribe, there are communities. Igbo ,Calabarians,Yoruba,Hausa/Fulani,Ijaw,Nupe ,Gbagyi,Kanuri,Angas,Urhobo, etc. are all ethnic nations which each contain communities with dialects . For example ,Ekid or Ibibio are communities and dialects of Calabar ; Ngwa ,Ikwerre ,or Onicha are Communities and dialects of Igbo ; Illaje or Ijebu are communities and dialects of Yoruba; Manga or Yerwa are communities and dialects of Kanuri ,etc. Through out Nigeria's history , kanuri,Nupe,Igbo,Ijaw ,Angas,Yoruba, and Fulani have produced either military or democratic heads of state. With that,it's clear that power has circulated and not concentrated on one ethnic nation like many Nigerians claim . The misconception stems from the fact that most Northern Nigerians erroneously view the entire south as one people ,while the south erroneously view the entire north as Hausa/Fulani. Nigeria is a country of 15 ethnic nations forcefully merged as one by colonial powers ,and it's important to take that into perspective when analyzing the result and current situation of Nigeria. Nigeria is stagnant not only because of corruption ,but because of the unitary system .True federalism(Autonomy for all ethnic nations) is the only solution, and with that it wont matter what ethnicity the presidents are from . One of the premise behind calls for disintegration of Nigeria is the erroneous belief that the Hausa/Fulani or northern Nigeria dominates and benefits from Nigeria without any contributions, but a closer look at that suggest the north is not more developed than the south and what most Nigerians view as domination or marginalization ,I view as just one big mess with no outright beneficiaries. The truth is the northern Nigeria contributes it's quota through 90 percent of Nigeria's agriculture. And in the south ,Only Calabar(akwacross) and Ijaw contribute the majority . Although that does not negate the fact that the best system of government for Nigeria is True federalism. The idea behind Niger delta republic or Biafra are baseless and outdated . There are only ethnic nations contained within Nigeria, and each of these ethnicity deserve the right to autonomy . But I've observed that the ethnicities are not united within , and so I advise that each ethnicity first work on internal unity, then they can have diplomatic discussion and negotiations for autonomy or referendum . Highlight : 1. No one is benefiting from the current Nigerian system .It's a lose lose for all ,but it's a bigger loss for Akwa ibom,Bayelsa ,rivers and Delta states. 2. Best system is true federalism. All ethnicity should be autonomous states with control of their resources and development 3. The ethnicity in Nigerian are internally divided and need to first unite in order to forge common front for peaceful negotiations on autonomy or secession Source: http://news-af.feednews.com/news/detail/1b5fc50c9b4ade288912e237271fe676?client=news

I am in my studio apartment. I work in IT so I can work from home. The major grocery store in my area cut its hours down and its first hour of opening each day is for people over 60 to be able to get supplies first. I just started ordering groceries from home. I'm trying as much as possible to order everything online. I'm quiet anyway so staying indoors more isn't too much of an issue for me personally. I'm in manhattan so it's cray cray out here more than other parts of the us right now, constant sirens; i guess ambulances are picking people up. Stocked up on health supplies and foods, garlic, ginger, vitamic c, mutlivitamins, sage, etc. Also have antibiotics handy because of the risk of secondary infections, and just ordered chloroquine, piriton and azithromycin to have with me just in case. As far as mentally, no problems there, not unhealthily bothered |
Sleevia:I really want the local traditional leaders to step in an figure something out for their local communities. It's definitely going to be harder in Lagos, but can surely help in other parts. Like, the Feds can provide money to the states, who will subsidize the local farmers to continue production through this and facilitate transport to different LGAs where the heads and trad rulers will facilitate distribution |
