Religion / Why It Is Mandatory For Every True Christian To Attend Church!! by NuclearReactor: 11:18pm On May 07, 2022
So some weeks ago I stumbled on a thread here where someone was talking about the possibility of a person to love God but not attend church, well many people agreed with him, i couldn't comment early on that thread so this is sort of a reply...

You cannot claim you LOVE Jesus and NOT LOVE his body!! The church.
Emphasis is on "loving Jesus" and not on identifying as a Christian!!

• The reason many people boldly say that they are ok not attending church, but say they still love God, is that they Don't know what it means to love God.
Lol, what they have towards God is a "dutiful feeling of respect, because they acknowledge him as their creator" and not love so they see church going as a thing of duty and not an act of zeal, if you truly love someone you would want to be in his house with those he loves.
Ps 122:1 "I was glad when they said unto me, let us go to the house of the lord"

• The reason why some people have the feeling that they can worship God in the confines of their own space and still maintain an acceptable life before him is that they don't know how much God wants them to grow spiritually. Lol, Because they don't commit few notorious "big sins" like lying, stealing, or maybe fornication so they think they are ok with God and he is ok with them, lol, if only we know how much we don't know God yet and how high the standards of holiness he wants us to reach are!!
I am not saying that a person can't grow spiritually due to his personal fellowship with God, nope, infact that is very important but if you're TRULY growing, you would also develop the desire to be among God's people in church because you'll now see how much you are still YET TO grow in God.

• The attitude of not wanting to be around any gathering of Christians shows that you are either INDIFFERENT or hateful towards fellow Christians and shows that you don't love others who are God's children.
1John 2:9 "Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness"
1John3:14 "We know that we have passed from death to light, because we love our brothers, anyone who does not love remains in darkness"

• Likewise the idea that you "love your personal space" is another excuse that still shows how much you don't love God, if you do, then your love for God would overwhelm your introverted nature.

• If your church preaches doctrines not consistent with scripture or engages in practices that are unscriptural, then leave that church and ask God to lead you to a better church

• Even if you have been offended by a someone in church, that isn't an excuse to stop going to church, Your worship is to God and not that person!! You can change your church if you can't bring yourself to relate with the person because of the offence but ensure to forgive the person afterward.

• Yes it's true that the church is a mixed multitude, both Good and bad people come in, but you came to worship God and not to observe who and who attends church and is still living in Sin... That's not your business, that's God's business so mind your business!!

• Going to church is a command!!
Heb 20:25 "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together as the manner of some..."
So not going is an act of disobedience!!

In Conclusion, being in God's house always requires love for him, the problem today is that we have many dutiful, old testament fashioned, "I was brought up a Christian" people who claim to be Followers of Jesus but don't LOVE him. If you don't love God enough to desire his presence just admit it!! Don't cook up the silly excuse of you being able to serve and love God in private without needing to go to church!!
Thanks

The problem with this thread is that some people have issues with English, lol, In an argument, if i say "those were the words of peter" it means what peter spoke as his opinion and not what he said as a narration of what another person said, Since the writers of the bible have been using "Scripture" and "The word of God" interchangeably thats where the problem started, lol make una go learn english oh

AntiChristian:

Why would I quote a letter to the Corinthians for us in Nigeria?

Jesus quoted what Moses said in Deuteronomy in Matthew.

Moses knew the law is against against adultery yet married two.

Even Paul did not forbid polygamy for everyone.
lol in the scripture that Paul didnt forbid polygamy for all, paul was talking specifically to people who wanted to be pastors, the focus of that conversation with timothy wasnt euerybody
Religion / Re: Re: Christianity Doesn't Support Polygamy, Polygamy Is A Sin by NuclearReactor: 8:01am On May 01, 2022
AntiChristian:

Moses didn't permitted polygamy. Moses brought "You shall not commit adultery" yet he married more than once.

If he marries another woman, he must not deprive the first one of her food, clothing and marital rights.
Exodus 21:10

Yahweh makes laws protecting the First wife & previous wives here.
Note that this verse comes only 22 verses AFTER the 7th Commandment ("Thou shalt not commit adultery"wink in Exodus 20:14.

Moses wrote all these yet he still married two wives.

And Moses had a high holy Spirit level in Numbers 11:25
Brother why did you not address Paul's stance in 1Cor 7:2 you only focused on Moses who is of the old convenant and NOT our standard, lol guy go and practice Judaism if you want to support polygamy!!
Religion / Re: Re: Christianity Doesn't Support Polygamy, Polygamy Is A Sin by NuclearReactor: 7:28am On May 01, 2022
AntiChristian:

That verse is on divorce not polygamy.
Brother that verse also applies to polygamy, the pharisees asked Jesus specifically about divorce so he focused on that, matt 19:7 "Moses PERMITTED you to..." Polygamy also falls into the PERMITTED category of marital practices, if this wasnt so then Paul an Apostle of the new testament wouldnt have discouraged it in 1Cor 7:1-3

Kobojunkie:
But neither Jesus Christ, nor God, ever issued any commandment against Polygamy/Polyandry, and we know that God's Law defines for us what Sin is - His is the standard we are meant to model our very lives by. undecided

Even Jesus Christ made it clear that those who love Him, God's New Covenant in the Kingdom of God, are those who live their lives in continuous submission and obedience to His teachings(and commandments) - John 14 vs 15 - 25. And not a single command given by Him decrees polygamy(Polyandry and polygyny) a sin for His followers, so who are you to attempt to sell what is your personal opinion, as if God's Truth?, undecided

Have you no fear of God at all? undecided
Jesus issued a command against polygamy in matt 19: 3-14
Religion / Re: Re: Christianity Doesn't Support Polygamy, Polygamy Is A Sin by NuclearReactor: 1:10am On May 01, 2022
Matt 19:7 "Moses PERMITTED you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard, but it was not so from the beginning" (Niv) That God permitted something in the past doesnt make it a standard, he does so because we humans are imperfect and sometimes very difficult to deal with especially when we have little knowledge of him, but as we come to know him better the standards increases and he no longer permits many things he permitted before. Many people will attack this view but the Truth remains the Truth cool cool lalasticalala mynd44 OAM4J abeg make una do the needful

This post is in response to a post I saw earlier here
https://www.nairaland.com/7099965/polygamy-not-sin-reno-acts

So since this Yul Edochie marrying another wife news made rounds lately, many people have been voicing different opinions. One is that Polygamy is not a sin. Using the examples of the old testament men who married more than one wife but still related with God as justification they support this claim.
Dear Christian, Moses is NOT your Standard, David is NOT your Standard, NO old testament Saint is your Standard... JESUS is your Standard.
Jesus speaking in Matt 5 : 27&28 said " You have heard that it was said, 'do not commit adultery' but I tell you that any one who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart" (Niv)
Here Jesus quoted (and by so doing acknowledged the veracity of) the law of Moses, but HE INCREASED THE STANDARD!!
JESUS INCREASED THE STANDARD!!

Same thing applies to Polygamy, it was "permitted" in the old testament but because Jesus has come, the standard has increased!! Does that mean that God has changed?? NO, But rather Know that "Any time the knowledge of [the person and the will of] God increases, the standard with which God judges increases" Read James 3:1
Ok Let's read Acts 17:30
"In the past God OVERLOOKED such ignorance, BUT NOW he commands all people everywhere to repent" (Niv)
JESUS IS A GREATER REVELATION OF GODS PERSON AND STANDARDS THAN MOSES(THE LAW)
And so Because We are in the dispensation of the new convenant, Jesus is our Standard.
Let's read 1 Cor 7: 2, "But since there is so much immorality, each man should have HIS OWN wife, and each woman HER OWN husband"
Paul knew this and so he spoke accordingly.
The problem we have today is that many people who profess to be Christian are still thinking and living as if they are in the old testament times... In the old order, Serving God is a matter of THOU SHALL AND THOU SHALL NOT... , Is this thing a sin or not..
That kind of thinking.
In this dispensation of Grace, we look through the lens of LOVE FOR GOD. If we claim we love God, we should be willing to do away with the natural (and yes sinful) desire to have more than wife, why?? Because the grace to do so is available in the person of Jesus!!
Read Heb 4: 14 -16 Titus 2: 11 -13 If you want more than one wife you should go and practice Judaism and not Christianity. Peace!!
Lalasticalala mynd44 please do the needful

There is hardly any true Ijaw tribe in Rivers state. Bayelsa State was created for Ijaw and some other minorities in 1996.
What they cal Ijaw there are just an agglomerate of minority groups who banded together for oil agitation and of course Ijaw people used it as a franchise.
The closest you can get to any Ijo speaking people are probably Kalabari (who would deny this in your presence) or Okirika people.

The majority in River state is Igbo and Igboid speaking groups and then maybe Ogoni.
Check the names of the past 4 governors from 1999, that will give you all the answers you need about who the majority are.
True talk, ijaw is mostly a bayelsa tribe with little presence in parts of delta state, i personally havent heard there language or observed their culture to check for similarities with those tribes
