ColdHeatt:
Let this happen in Kano State university and see how the lecturer would be badmouthed here till he commits suicide.

The video poster and his cohorts sums the calibre of Nigerian students we have presently. You can see the social media preference even while in class and their lackadaisical attitude in class

Alusiizizi:

Absolutely. It's a shame someone had to post this video, as if it shows anything. When in front of an audience, there's always a tension that follows about, and sometimes that can cause mind-blocks. Usually gets better with experience though.

From the KSG government's comment I began to reason that this must be related to killing of Christians in Kaduna!

We cannot stay mute and watch our brothers being killed in the North.

Gov El-Rufai... this has to stop . This killing of Christians must stop. This is evil

Politics / Re: President Has Power To Extend Retiring IGP’s Tenure, Court Rules by nuele(m): 5:24pm On Jun 18, 2021
Since the constitution is silent on that. It becomes unconstitutional to act outside of what the constitution stipulates on the tenure of public office holders as regards max years of service.

CoolAmbience:

Try and be analytical for once.

If the same constitution that empowers the President to appoint an IGP is silent on if the IGP's tenure could be extended by the President, what is the implication of that?

For me, it is commonsensical. The lawyer who went to court is clearly dumb just as many of his colleagues.

How many of your people are willing to join the police and expose their lives to danger? All you want is IGP position.

Abeg, make we hear word.

Since the constitution is silent about it, it's unconstitutional. Constitution can't speak on all things. All we can do is to abide by the constitution.

Nigeria should immediately reverse Twitter ban. Whoever advised FG to do so is shortsighted on world/economy politics.

Twitter is a U.S. tech company, Nigeria banning twitter invariably means calling for trouble with the U.S., and that will be awful.

Nigeria should learn from Iran or Russia. This can further affect our currency value.

These people have a sinister plan. I think it's unfolded this way:

Cultural differentiation makes it had for Fulani terrorists and terrorists from Sahel to infiltrate the Southern part of Nigerian. So a disguiseful means to penetrate the South is to normalize the Southern terrain with 'harmless' Fulanis thereafter gradually push in the main terrorists. Now they will take the South by surprise.

I urge every Nigerians to reject whatsoever evil Ruga plans hatched by the evil ones. Anyone that wants to rear cows should do domestic ranching as done in other parts of the world. It's an agricultural business of individuals, what concerns government?

I see a similarity here with the Boko Haram case. Most times killing of sect leaders aren't the best solution especially if it is done extrajudicially... It only angers their followers. Ok, you kill the leader, what then happens to the followers?

Constructive and meaningful solution is done by factoring and collaborating with relevant stakeholders.

There is power in negotiations and reconciliation as well as removing marginalization.

I implore the Buhari's gov to deploy unity and inclusion based tactics. Nigeria's unity should be primal when sanctioning decisions not only in South-East but everywhere including South-West.

He should study Gowon's approach. We don't want war or civil hostilities, we need progress. Our country's motto states unity as a panacea for progress. We can't progress in this sort of atmosphere. Twitter moved to Ghana, no right thinking company would think of coming to Nigeria with all these fightings and kidnappings.

Pls Mr President, see it as a responsibility to resolve all these problems and not worsen it with any wrong move. Pls, consult with stakeholders in helping this country's delicate situation.

Education / Preparation For Education Amidst COVID-19 by nuele(m): 3:28pm On Aug 03, 2020
I was reading a piece in DW (Deutsche Welle News) and came across a post signalling preparatory steps the government and educational stakeholders are embarking upon to have their schools resume even amidst Covid-19.

Here are few findings:

1. Training of teachers digitally. While some countries/people are sitting at home all through, Germany teachers are undergoing digital trainings.

2. Pupils are divided in groups they call "cohorts" this might mean different scheduling for each groups. The aim is to avoid quarantining the whole school in case of new infection but only the 'cohorts'.

3. Government already purchasing laptops in response to the developments. They have come to the realization that digital education will see them through this period. Here, students can borrow and use the laptops so as to ensure all are carried along (both poor and rich).

4. Government subscribes to commercial digital learning platform (software). Even before Covid-19, this softwares have been existing. These are proprietary softwares and requires subscription fees which are expensive. Government here values education and are willing to purchase them for schools and avail them the infrastructure.

5. The scare of pupils infecting the parents at home is not that pronounced. This is quite controversial though, however, some doctors there counteract this claim, a research comprising teachers and pupils found no single 'acute' case. One doctor argued, children aren't particularly prone to the disease or are they pose to passing it over.

My conclusions:

1. We need to think ahead and not beclouded by present circumstance. Relevant educational stakeholders can hold virtual talks on the way forward.

2. We should seek out ways to maneuver the situation and not wait until 'mother-nature' smiles towards us.

3. Several strategies can be adopted to minimize or eliminate infections at schools. At least, we can start preparing schools handlers on that instead of waiting until 'the schools resumes'.

Akwa Ibomites may not appreciate this immediately, but they will in the nearest future.

When those investments begin yielding appreciable dividends; when the per capital income of the state populace begin growing; when the internally generated revenue increases....

The governor is working. We are very blessed.

I must also commend the previous governor - Akpabio, he did so well by setting up the infrastructural projects, this gives a good platform for the incumbent to engage in humane/capital projects.

Some people are like that, while having a conversation with people, they aren’t so up and sound as they are expected to be. But when they are on their own meditating and strategizing, they come out with a near perfect answers and solutions.

Please don’t tell him bluntly if you know you are tired being with him and wanna quit the relationship. Don’t leave a bad blood behind while saying goodbye

Honestly @dear OP, perhaps you are the swift and sound type in reasoning, while your partner is a very relatively sluggish one in intellectual reasoning, there will surely be problem in synchronizing his response with your question and expectations because he may need extra time to think over it before he can give you the right answer.

Another problem I can see in this kinda relationship is that you seem to be the type that already have and answer to any question you ask your partner and expecting him to give that exact answer you have in mind. No, things don’t work that way. We are all products of different backgrounds, families and environments. This makes us to give different opinions and responses to the same interviews and questions.

You can also help him, developing interest in many fields such as politics, sports, entertainment et al. For example, listening to the news together and watching the news and discussing on political issues together.

I hope d country can effectively deal with d economic fallout of all this by d time d dust settles. Several missed opportunities for d country to take advantage of in order to fill d void with respect to d fluctuations in oil revenue. From d Nigerian perspective, that's literally thinking out of this world

You and I know the government we have, we even lucky we have "lesser" cases right now.

The lockdown was poorly done. The airspace ought to have been locked long ago, they expected their family members to enter first at the detriment and risk of Nigerians.

People ought to have been preinformed, then they buy things down. Then the government will issue a serious and full lockdown max 3weeks. All cases would have been identified.

And normal life resumes. Now we risk these partial and scattered lockdown spanning months.

How will people survive such?

I should be d asking u what u are saying. Look at this sentence.

This is future tense which means "all relevant measures" are yet to be taken. U only ended up shooting urself in d foot& indicting d govt u are defending.

If u have a leakage in ur house, maybe from d roof or a pipe, it means u going to have water in places u don't to have water. In other to keep d house dry, if u focus on just scooping d water without plugging d source of d leakage, all ur effort will be futile. That's what I meant by fixing d problem at d source. Its just common sense.

Every case of corona in d country are a result of people who travelled to Europe in d last one month& returned within d same period. Now d figures are increasing daily and its because of people who have a travel history in d last one month. U don't need to be a rocket scientist to under d common denominator here. If that is d case, y did d govt not restrict flights from countries in Europe? If it couldn't, why didn't it enforce quarantine at d airport for returnees within which carriers will emerge? Is it as difficult as flying to d moon? If d govt can shut d border to prevent Nigerians from consuming foreign rice& chicken, why can't it shut d airport or at least enforce quarantine 4 returnees in order to prevent d disease from getting into d country?

What d govt is doing shows that it is only reacting to d issue. There's no plan or strategy in place. It just waits for someone to say he or she has d virus, d next is to react by restricting movement without first& foremost plugging d source. No matter how much movement is restricted without addressing d source of d problem, d numbers will continue to go up thereby endangering d lives of d general population.

I agree with you here. The government measures have been predominantly reactive which should have mainly be proactive. You right.

However, the government has closed the airspace since March 23rd according to the NCAA website.

Nevertheless, restrictions of movement is very necessary to handle the outbreak. That's my notion.

What are u saying?

All relevant measures are to be taken. Both closure of the airport and restrictions in movements.

Seems you have a way of telling a coronavirus patient without them developing symptoms.

Its not a right move. Its a distraction to govts nonchalance and incompetence. U can't be restricting d movt of people who don't have d virus and u leave d airports open which is d channel thru which d virus enters d country

So how do you tell or detect someone who is carrying the virus but aren't showing symptoms?

Restricting movements in a serious epidemic like this is a nice move.

Or you want Nigeria to be another epicenter of this deadly virus, forget it, u might say u young and not at risk (assuming), what about your elderly ones...
