Kingsdave: I'm having issues with my Jaguar XF.... I drove it for some minutes... Tried to reverse it was stuck in drive for long... I off it , later tried to on it but its still stuck in drive... Transmission failure is written on the dash board ...Gear not in park.... Had a battery warning. later... Battery will be off in 3 minutes.. Your description of your issues is all muddled up, I couldn't make much from it. If the car had been parked for several days and left unattended, rodents could have made breakfast, lunch and dinner with the wiring in the vehicle. Have you tried to switch the gear knob to park or neutral while the ignition is off. if you did was it that the computer still see the gear knob is in drive even though you have moved it to Park? If all fails, you can reset the car brain and see if the car would come back to life by removing the battery terminals while the key is out of ignition or if it's push button desist from depressing the brake. Remove negative 1st then remove positive next ensuring the + cable doesn't touch any metal body of the car. When putting back, fix positive 1st before negative. If the car is stubborn, rent an helicopter and drop it from 2000 feet to register your disdain to jaguar (find a technician to help look into the matter) |

boliswitpassprik: hey everyone I would like to hear Y'alls view on a mitsubishi pajero 03(Naija used) it's going quite cheap because the owner is moving abroad, very neat and all. I would like to know how easy it is to maintain in Nigeria, fuel consumption rate etc it's a family car and roads to the house is quite bad, hence an SUV is needed.
if you've used this car before, kindly give some advice. thanks. If you are sure it is well maintained I mean really certain because Mitsubishi Engine smokes easily when you use wrong Engine oil for it |

ChriisDiamond: Please I need the advice of car Gurus in the house Gazzuzz, Dru, et al. Is Toyota Avalon 07 - 10 a reliable vehicle? It isn't really popular in Nigeria. I want to get the Toyota Corolla 07 Tokunbo... but I really dislike the interior. It feels like an appliance.
Is Avalon 07 a good buy in terms of Reliability Maintenance (I heard that the parts are difficult to get and not many Kazeems are proficient). Resale value (since it isn't popular, it appears disposing it is an issue?
Also, is Nigerian used Avalon 2010 limited a good buy?
Please respond Avalon is a V6 only vehicle reason it isn't popular on naija roads. It is reliable, dependable and hitch free ride. Buy only a good specimen with no issues whether it is naija used or Tokunbo. For resale value not as hefty as Corolla or Camry. |

I tried it for my neighbors cars and it displays their own diagnostics error codes. Please what can be wrong? Let me not be removing the log from other people eye while leaving the beam in my own eye ohh... Please help If you don't have a check engine light means everything thing is normal in your vehicle. But you can confirm your brain box is ok and the scanner connects if you are able to pull your vehicle specifications from the scanner |

Esseite: We spend so much on vehicles without taking cognizance of how much it has consumed over the years..
Example on just a single car: Estimate... Purchase - N2.5m Servicing (1year) - N150k (mobile 1) carwash, tires pumps and patches, paintings - N150k Tires 1st set - N80k Fueling - N520,000 at N10k/week transmission service - N30k (T4 oil) Police, lastma, bribes and fines - N100k Mechanics and minor repairs - N100k
Total = N3.630m an added N1.130m (excluding engine or transmission change and other major accidents.

Philadelphia: Does your statement in bold not contradict your recommendation earlier?
It's not the only reliable car? Sure! Yet, it didn't make the list of your "reliable" cars.
Do you want us to compare the reliability and maintenance of the said 99 Toyota Corolla with same model of cars you put up there? Year for year?
I bet you don't want to go down that lane with me bro. I didn't put Toyota there because Most cars I put there are between 1999 to 2011 model years you can't get a 03-11 Toyota at that price because it is overpriced due to Toyota reliability position. The op has 700k for the said car won't it be more economical for him to buy a car worth 400k to 600k and use the remaining balance to fix to his taste. A 99 Corolla naija used in good condition is around 650k to 800k and you will still need to do minor fixes. in essence it is economically better to buy alternatives of Toyota that are equally good than buying an overpriced product. You should rather be fighting for Civic not Corolla. The major reason I omitted Toyota was because of the Yaris, the Yaris in that price range is the blandest nonsense of a car I have ever come across very ameboid and an excuse for ART (no offense intended) besides the Toyota you are fighting for doesn't have 1.1L to 1.5L Engine. |

kong200: I understand you better now but the parts shared between these cares are limited to 03-07, which leaves out 08 even tho they all look alike and termed 1st Gen TSX The second generation Acura TSX = Honda Accord Euro = Honda inspire (Japan) = Evil Spirit. most Honda vehicles share parts from Engine to transmission, it's majorly Acura TL and RL that are a bit different to a degree. but Acura TSX corresponds with same year accord |

Philadelphia: Why didn't you add a 99 corolla to that list?
I will vex for you now o Toyota doesn't come cheap, if you buy 1 where will he get change to do the maintenance I listed. Toyota is not the only reliable car |
Car Talk › Re: The Official Car Comparison/Recommendation Thread by nurey(m): 6:32pm On Dec 27, 2019 |
kong200: So the TSX is basically EOD if i may understand you well? Let me put it this way, the Honda Accord EOD and DC, Acura TSX and Accord Europe share similar parts for 03 to 07. Now the Honda Accord Japanese/Europe was sold in North America and Canada as an upscale ACURA TSX. Acura TSX and Accord Europe have identical design. for that year but you know inorder to sell it as a premium brand, the TSX would have some accessories the Accord Euro would have as an option.

Greenarrow01: Thanks nurey.. I actually live in north Nigeria. Kaduna state. My neighbour wanted to sell 206 to me... I ran away..thinking..oh it is ladies car.. She changed the tyres about two months before then. Someone else bought the car
What do you mean by 1200l Is it 1200 litres or 1200naira worth of petrol. The distance is about 50km or soless than 60 1200 naira not Litre. I have driven a manual 206 from dambatta to Kano to and fro journey, I bought 500naira worth of fuel when fuel was 87 naira or was it 97 naira the guage was at reserve tank, I drove 150km journey to and fro and the guage went back to reserve. the only traffic was at the murtala Muhammad way where the street light is. The car is very fuel efficient though I can't tell what engine was in it but I can say it is not more than 1.5L Engine because it actually economize fuel like my Almera I used for same distance. |

The TSX is Honda Accord Europe the normal EOD and DC weren't sold in Europe. You know Europe has its own variant of cars eg Camry US - Avensis Europe Sienna US - Previa Europe Corolla US - Yaris Europe Honda Civic US - Acura CSX/EL Europe or Honda FIT etc etc |

Greenarrow01: Guys.. Pls what best car can I buy.. I am struggling and distance to work is about an hour. Going is an hour... Coming back is an hour.. Zero traffic or holdup Road is not too good I want low..very low maintenance with cheap parts. I want low , very low fuel consumption.
My budget is 700k max I no get money. I repeat.. I no get money 700k max Reason I want to buy the car is .. I spend #1200 daily on transport.. We are parked Luke sardines..and it doesn't do well Work from monday to friday You will get a Nissan Micra tokunbo for that price but it would be a RHD you still have to convert. You will get a Peugeot 206 tokunbo for that price but it would be RHD and you still have to travel to Northwest or Northeast of Nigeria to get one. Though with 700k you can still get a Nigerian used for that price, I will recommend only 4 vehicles Nissan Micra 05 below Peugeot 206 06 below Kia picanto 05 to 10 Kia Rio 05 to 2011 inspect the specimen and make sure Engine and transmission is in proper working order you can get good unit for less than your budget way less use the remaining change to do timely maintenance (transmission drain, timing belt change, coolant change, new sets of tyres, oil change and partial paint and spray). with those Engine you will be riding 5 to 6L per 100km if you are very good 1200naira can take you 2days to and fro. |

kong200: Lol, true. You've confirmed to be that it's a very good car and ticks all boxes from reliability to durability, cheap maintenance and parts etc. Does it have a good resale value? Compliments brother It has a slightly high resale value than it's corresponding Accord. I personally prefer European vehicles to american, they are more classy and we'll built than their counter part |
