How strong and reliable
The nomad was popular in South Africa and the complaint from there were

1. After sales service were extremely poor, as dealers refuse to acknowledge warranty after sales.

2. Parts availability was scarce and interior fittings always break.

Note for the Nomad zoyte. I don't know much about the daihatsu Terios or the Toyota Cami (never seen the Cami in Nigeria before).

But check the Engine, if it's the Mitsubishi sourced or Toyota sourced Engine, you won't have problem in that department.

Guys, a little help here. There are two types of Civics popularly seen on Nigerian roads (pix below). I see more of the first though. I know one is European and the other is Asia. Not sure where I heard that from. But then I also heard one is better than the other.
Please, aside from the design and region are there differences when it comes to durability, fuel economy, maintenance?
Which do you recommend?
Thanks guys
1st pix is Asian, bought brand-new in Nigeria

2nd pix is North America bought as tokunbo in Nigeria.

Parts availability like I heard for the 1st is available but for the 2nd scarce I doubt if it's true because both are same biscuit in different nylon.

more explanations

the engine snapped while driving some days ago. i also noticed a strong smell of wires burning in the he engine bay but i could detect the source. i just parked the car jejely cos i dont want any story.

i ve bought another belt but i believe one of the rotors ( ? compressor rotor) is bad.

Any ideas from the gurus in the house?
Compressor rotor stiff, belt would shred into pieces, the smell of burnt wire is actually the smell of burnt rubber shredded.

Talk to Valarinz he is a Volvo Mechanic grin

Don't let your hate cloud your judgement, I only posted the screenshot cos that's the only language you probably understand.

Pls try and get your hands on the 3.2l engine and open it up properly, there's nothing Ford about that engine, unlike the V8 which is a pure Yamaha engine.

Maybe you'll now say, you're not a mechanic lipsrsealed
Whatever makes you sleep well at night grin

Which one will sell off a car lot first in Nigeria?

You have Golf 3 being used mostly as a cab here especially by NURTW uber crews grin

My guy, talk wetin you know o; wetin you go fit defend.
okay if you say so

The others are valid points.

With that, Golf 3 is still his best bet.

Add resale value to his requirements and Golf 3 comes first by miles.
Resale value golf 3, how much is tokunbo golf3 and how much is naija used?

Kia Rio is an Uber standard vehicle, something a golf 4 cannot boost of, so don't expect the golf 3 to have a better resale value than Kia Rio.

But resale price yes, the golf 3 is cheap can be had for 300k so expected to be cheaper to acquire.

Please kindly do an analytical comparison between this 3 cars 06 KIA rio, 06 picanto and golf 3 based on the grounds of
1. Fuel economy
2. Ease of maintenance
3. Available of parts and good technician
4. Durability (The strength to cope with everyday driving)
Note; it is to be used for taxi in the city. Thanks
picanto is the best in fuel economy but it is been phased out, your best bet is the Kia Rio reasons are

1. More recent than the golf 3, so you won't have parts breakdown frequently

2. Better modern design than golf3

3. Engine is shared by couple of Kia and Hyundai vehicles so parts would always be readily available though may cost more than golf3 parts.

4. You won't be known for driving a taxi around grin

5. it is as fuel efficient as the golf3 with 1.4L Engine so good fuel economy is assured.

6. Technicians abound just like any other car

why is this sir?

can you expantiate? and what do you mean buy other engine variants?

I am asking cos i just bought a 2006 xc90 . I am not sure about the engine variant
The T6 is not unreliable. Volvo mated a transmission that could not handle the torque from the engine, leading to early gearbox failures. The 3.2l engine used from 07 up was designed to replace it as it was a ford engine anyway.

Other than this your only concern here in Naija is that T6 parts are more expensive.

Thanks Boss..... Will Go For The Civic Then cool
if you like the Volvo you can buy but don't buy one fitted with the T6 Engine, every other Engine is reliable and solid

I've stopped advising people on things like this. If they like, they can pour groundnut oil down the oil hole.

Seems this motor parts business will be a good business to venture into.

Let me squeeze that into vision 2020.
My brother we shouldn't because of wetin we go chop not advice people accordingly.

Probably the 2AR.
The only Engine venza shares with Camry is 2gr, 4cylinder venza is 1AR (2.7L)
