Why would the hatred some of you have for Islam drive you this much. If suggestions of breaking up were to come from a professed Muslim, I know what the likes of Davidylan would have written here. Cant you be just tolerant a bit. OK, the Muslims have not gone on any rampage since the new notes were introduced, yet you people write with so much hatred. And in any case, you will be the first to say when someone slaps your first cheek, turn the other. Why must a reasonable person abuse men that are old enough to be their grandfathers. It's not in our culture and I think forum patrons should mind their use of language.

Its true that Nigeria is not a muslim state but the Ajami inscription on the Notes had not dettered anybody from spending the notes when they were introduced. Now that its been removed, the question still remains, what has anybody gained from its removal.

The Nigerian state is a plural society; ethnicity, religiosity and culturally. We always should respect ourselves. From most postings on this thread, that respect which is vital to our successful co-existence is not displayed. If most go on in real life with the kind of attitudes articulated here, the country I am sorry may not progress. Even when we differ on issues, we should have the courtesy and decency of being polite in our contributions. I think everybody should go back to his/her previous posts and see if decency had been applied. We can start achieveing peace and progress through this forum.

A lot of people do not know how and why Ajami ( Hausa witten in  Arabic letters) was written on the old notes. It was written to enable Hausa locals who could only read and write in Arabic to appreciate the notes. When the British came, they found out that in most part of the North, there was education, there was literacy, there was an established social order close to the one they were bringing, only that it was based on Islam and Arabic teachings. The Caliphate was flourishing. Whereas in most of the south, there was stark illiteracy, no formal articulated social order. So the British adopted different strategies of penetrating the two parts of the country. In the north, they adopted a gradual approach of replacing the various social and political systems with theirs. But in the South, it was wholescale westernization because there was little on the ground. And so entered the Ajami inscription on our notes. Now come to think of it, what is it that Nigerians who have for over 40 years spent Pound/Naira notes with Ajami inscriptions gain with the sudden removal. Nothing. But what would the North lose with the removal; A lot.

Most of the North is still rural and they are nomadic. Most rural locals even today can only read and write in Ajami. And its not that they are illiterates. I think the issue is also about the pride of a nation. If the South cannot gain anything from the removal, why must we remove, when the North says they want it. Muslims too are a bit cynical about the removal because Ajami is close to Arabic, which is the Language of the Quran. If the Christians will not gain anything with the removal and the Muslims prefer it to be retained, why must we remove. Or have Christians suggested anything they want inscribed on our notes that has been rejected. This reminds me of the story of the two women that took their disputation to Solomon. The one that had nothing to lose argued for the killing of the baby while the other begged for the life to be spared. Thank God Solomon saw through the pleadings. And I think as educated as we claim to be on this forum, we should be a bit objective.

Those who reject Islam are ingrates.

Religion and Science should not conflict because while one is seeks understanding of the works of God, the other seeks understanding of the Words of God. It is the misunderstanding of the Words of God and incomplete knowledge of the Works of God that make it look like religion and science are in conflict.

People that are blind and also perverts at heart have accused holy men. They disregard all historical facts and just because of the fleeting life of this world reject the truth. I pity you all, but I am praying, praying that one day you will accept Islam and see the goodness you have denied yourself all these years.

In all the spurious replies, no one has been able to prove that the women referenced in the Hadith were raped. Rather you have shown how generous the Muslim captors could be to their maids. Remember that was a society where girl-children used to be buried alive. If Islam could start the reorientation of the people towards dealing justly and treating with dignity not just the free women, but captive maids, I wonder what moral right anybody has to label those who propagated Islam as rapists. You have to look at the historical perspective without prejudice and concede at least that the emergence of Islam emancipated the world.

I think someone should take a trip just like I did and not just equate village scenery in Yorabland to what we experienced. Remember, I also hail from South West Nigeria and I know what obtains there. The worship of One God cannot be equated to idol-worshipping or Jesus-worshipping.

And who told anybody that my family had never been to a western nation before. Anyway, lets leave that for now. The issue is that our Creator has favored us and has chosen Islam for us to practice and whoever rejects this gift of God will have him/herself to blame.

I did mentioned it sometimes ago that the taste of the pudding is in eating. You see, I had an opportunity some weeks back to travel to Daura, a northern Nigerian predominantly Muslim town, in the company of my colleagues, most of whom are southern Nigerian Christians. My companions were utterly flabbergasted at the relative peace that enveloped the area. They had never seen a place where valuable goods are displayed openly with scant security measures. Shopowners even left there wares to answer the call of prayer without locking up. There was not a single show of hostility even when some members of the party were identified as non Muslims. The Emir's brother welcomed us generously. In fact many more happened on the trip such my non-Muslim friend confided in me that they wont mind retiring to that part of the country in the near future. This could only have been because of Islamic life entrenched in that society.

I also want to tell you that my wife just returned from Saudi Arabia and to her it was like she wanted to stay put there if not for family and work commitments. That is why when people talk of backwardness and all its attribute, I say these are not the lot of Muslims. Where there is a war, yes, visibility and feasibility of progress is reduced, but to generalize is not it.

The dignity that Islam accords women is unparalleled in history and that is why female issues have always been subjects of discussion since the time of Quranic Revelation.

Almost forgot. Baby posted the link to an article. Everybody on this thread should read the entire article and form or reshape his/her opinion.

Yet no mention of rape in this article. The right to possession of slave maids ( whom your right hand possess) is even compared to marriage by the writer to show you the honour with which conjugal relationship is held among Muslims.

And who told anybody that the Muslim women of today are not happy with the dictates of their religion. I have a wife, sisters and colleagues that are always thanking Allah for making them Muslims. They are enjoying themselves and even when they travel to the western world where the so called liberated women have field days, they still come back to thank Allah for their own lot.
Muslims can see what non-Muslims have and that which they hold dear, yet affirm Islam the best. But non-Muslims are ever afraid to try Islam. Why wouldn't somebody even just pretend, even if it is for a whole month to be a Muslim and see the difference. Why wouldn't somebody listen to the Quran and its expositions. Why wouldn't somebody perform Salat, pay Zakat, fast, perform the Hajj and spread goodness and love on the surface of the earth. Why must somebody spread lies, fornication, corruption, gambling, intoxications, lewdness, aggression, tyranny, pride and other vices on the surface of the earth. Does he not know that his progenitors were created from the earth and that he will be returned therein and be raised up from it. This is the wisdom, this is what the men of understanding know and this why they choose Islam.

Truth will definitely cause some people to rant but they don't really need to if the eyes are seeing. And they should work at the eyes to see the Truth, the Beauty of Islam, the Path of Salvation. You cant deny it.

Somebody remains diabolical even after reading a clear-cut Hadith, he/she is having an illusion in his/her mind and falsely accused Holy men of rape. Does the onus of proof not lie on the accuser? Why must Nuru give you evidence that rape was not committed by the Muslims when you yourself read the Hadith. Do you not understand English? Even then, the theme of the Hadith has been explained but because most of you are sex-perverts, you fail to appreciate the message of the Hadith and choose to echo only issues of Sex.

Islam remains the only religion acceptable to God. The Christians and others that believed truly in Jesus Christ before hearing the Message of God from Muhammad will be admitted into Jannat. But whoever, and I repeat whoever hear of Muhammad, hear of the Quran and disbelieve will be a candidate of eternal doom. If his/her Lord wishes, he/she can be forgiven. This is the Eternal Truth.

As for the treatment of women slaves in Islam, the man who received a revelation from his Lord and taught his fellows that slaves should be treated kindly could not turn round to be a rapist. Look at how beautiful the Quran puts treatment of slaves and women.

1. Emancipation of Slaves is great virtue (Chapter 90 Verse 13)
2. In cases of unintentional murder and similar offences, emancipation of slaves is prescribed as the atonement (Chapter 58 Verse 3, Chapter 4 Verse 92 etc)
3. Chapter 24 Verses 32 and 33 hit the nail on the head ‘’ Marry those among you who are single, or the virtuous ones among yourselves, male or female: if they are in poverty, Allah will give them means out of His grace: for Allah encompasses all, and He knows all things. Let those who find not the wherewithal for marriage keep themselves chaste, until Allah gives them means out of His grace. And if any of your slaves ask for a deed in writing (to enable them to earn their freedom for a certain sum), give them such a deed if ye know any good in them: yea, give them something yourselves out of the means which Allah has given to you. But force not your maids to prostitution when they desire chastity, in order that ye may make a gain in the goods of this life. But if anyone compels them, yet, after such compulsion, is Allah, Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful (to them)’’
4. Chapter 4 Verse 25 also hit the nail on the head ‘’ If any of you have not the means wherewith to wed free believing women, they may wed believing girls from among those whom your right hands possess: And Allah hath full knowledge about your faith. Ye are one from another: Wed them with the leave of their owners, and give them their dowers, according to what is reasonable: They should be chaste, not lustful, nor taking paramours: when they are taken in wedlock, if they fall into shame, their punishment is half that for free women. This (permission) is for those among you who fear sin; but it is better for you that ye practise self-restraint. And Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.’’

In the light of above verses from the Quran which Muhammad taught and practiced, it will do a lot of good for you false accusers to go and repent for slandering. Turn to your God and ask for His forgiveness. He is Ever ready to forgive. Above all, accept Islam Today. The clock is ticking.

Some people will just not understand simple narrations. They have blocked their eyes, ears and hearts. They seek to cause mischieve and lead none astray but their own souls.

My dear Sister, May Allah continue to bless you. Keep on teaching the deen and lets pray most will benefit therefrom.

Some one should be decent enough to read the Hadith very well and not let your hatred for Islam blindfold you. If you insinuate that the captives mentioned in the Hadith were raped, the onus is on you to provide the proof. You know very well that the central theme of that Hadith is to teach that God is capable of doing whatever He wishes. If a child has been decreed by Him to come into the world through man A and woman B, even if they use all the protections of the world put together when mating, the child destined between them will still be conceived. And that should not suprise you. Even Jesus, alaehi Salam was conceived without a father. That is the theme of that Hadith and it behoves you to open your heart and not be prejudiced. Afterall you are supposed to be educated and truth seeking.

TODAY IS THE DAY YOU SHOULD ACCEPT ISLAM. TOMORROW MAY BE TOO LATE.

Learned that perseverance and steadfastness is required with prayers in order for one's wish to be granted.

The Hadith you quoted did not say coitus was done without the consent of the captives. And if you must know, females too, used to have men captives.

Killing of innocent persons is forbidden in Islam, but aggression is discouraged. Islam forbids evil-doing in all its ramifications, adultery, stealing, murder, falsehood, corruption, gambling, drunkenness etc. Islam promotes peace, love, fairness, integrity, fidelity etc. The sharia is meant for this purpose.

Muslims will not rape a captured slave, but seek his/her hand in marriage. And that is fair.

Fornication is punished in Islam when proved by lashes and adultery by stoning. If the promotion of fidelity includes killing the person polluting the society, it will be a strong deterrent. Afterall, a Nigerian was recently killed in Singapore for hard drug possession as a deterrent. You see, each society has what it holds dear to it and what it can kill for. Its not compulsory that one nation's priority should be that of another. To the Muslim nation, anything that will pollute the society morally must be removed. You wont consider that as unfair.

The enjoyment of Paradise is nothing compared to all enjoyments in the world put together.
Its just like telling a baby in the womb that there is a world out there where cinema, telephone, radio etc exist. Such baby cannot comprehend. Closer home its like telling a 2 year old that some pleasure is derived in the bodies of males and females touching at some points. The two year old cannot understand. That is why nobody on earth can truly grasp the nature of the enjoyment in the hereafter for the believers and the good-doers. And if you cannot understand it now, that will not be good reason to deny it.

You know Islam, you just have to accept it today.

Hypocrisy is the lot of some people. At least we read today of the Astronaut arrested for plotting to kill her colleague. If she is a Muslim, you people would have started mouthing ' yes we told you they are bad '.

The fact is that the 'Muslim Nation is the most justly balanced, inviting to what is good and forbidding what is evil. Muslims believe in their Lord and the hereafter. Most people don't. But when some of you are paid to attack Islam on a forum like this, then we leave you to your conscience.

We ve said it times without number that Islam is a practical religion. It preaches that when attacked unjustly, attack back until injustice is removed. I don't know why anybody should write against that concept when naturally it is what everybody is doing.

You definitely are not telling the truth as you saw it if indeed you read the Quran. I know in your heart you are justifying telling lies on this forum with love that you think you have for Christianity and worldly gains you are reaping. Fear your Lord. Fear the day you will be brought out alone to account for your deeds. No nairaland member will be there to hail you. You will stand in front of your Lord. You definitely should say the truth now, and let the devil be ashamed. A word is enough for the wise.

The Muslim nation is the best raised for mankind, justly balanced. They believe in God, invite to what is right and forbid evil.

Muslims are encouraged to face tyrants and aggressors instead of turning the other cheek. If you check the Quran very well and not just being hypocritical, you will realize that  all the verses in which Muslims are permitted to fight, the permissions are for the purposes of stopping aggression and in all cases what you can call defensive strategies.  

What is coming out of this thread in that some people need to yank off their fear of the Quran, maybe instilled in them since childhood, and approach the Book diligently. The first verse that was revealed says 'READ'. Even the name Quran has a root meaning of 'Read'. It is significant for anybody looking for Truth to approach and read it. The Quran is a book to be read and if anybody has not read it before, the time is still there for him or her to do so.

The Quran will never cease to amaze me as per the tonnes of information available in it. Just when you think you think you have an issue, not necessarily looking for its solution in the Book, you come across new insights even in verses you think you know inside out.  

The other day somebody talked excitedly about UFO and some days later while reading Surat Yasin Chapter 36, I got to verse 36 and it struck me clearly that Allah mentioned UFO in the Quran. Listen to this

"Glory to Allah, Who created in pairs all things that the earth produces, as well as their own (human) kind and (other) things of which they have no knowledge.''

Considering the number of times I have read Surat Yasin in my life, I could not but recognize the Greatness of the One that revealed the Book to His Servant.

Its important some of you join us in reading the Quran, not just extracts of it but as a complete Book. You should not be afraid of that. Even if you are being paid heavily by your organization to attack Islam, at least you will still have some private moments that you can use to read the Wonderful Book. The Truth will definitely prick you.

The best example of how to live life and attain eternal bliss is in the Prophets of God. The best and the last of them is Muhammad. He lived life as human being not as an angel so that you and I can learn fervently from his existence. He was known as the Trustworthy even before Revelations started coming to him. He was most gentle and kind. He married a single wife for twenty five years of his life and did not marry others until she passed on. He had children, girls and boys, lost some of them and indeed was a perfect example a family man. He ruled as a King, yet a Prophet. He controlled vast resources but did not accumulate wealth. He performed miracles by the permission of his Lord. Remember the miracle of the splitting of the moon. One day I will write about that insha Allau on this forum. Muhammad was a soldier, a doctor, a scientist, an economist, a lawbearer, a judge, a teacher, an engineer, a politician, a pilot and many more, all rolled into one. What a noble Prophet.

Surah 47:
Muhammad (Muhammad)

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

1. Those who reject Allah and hinder (men) from the Path of Allah,- their deeds will Allah render astray (from their mark).

2. But those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, and believe in the (Revelation) sent down to Muhammad - for it is the Truth from their Lord,- He will remove from them their ills and improve their condition.

3. This because those who reject Allah follow vanities, while those who believe follow the Truth from their Lord: Thus does Allah set forth for men their lessons by similitudes.

Accept Islam today. Wont you.

The story of Muhammad's (SAW) life is in the common domain. How he faced persecutions with his followers in the hands of disbelievers is well known. His legendary steadfastness is equally acknowledged in history. The sayings reported of him that some people turned to apes and the rest is the truth as revealed to him. Muhammad did not say anything out of his own freewill as teaching or as a message except what was revealed to him. And even the levels of revelations were different. The highest was recited to him and he repeated after Angel Jubril and his companions repeated the recitations after him and learnt it by heart.

It may pain you that some people were reported to have turned into apes, but take it from me it is the truth. Even in our age, we have seen and heard people turn to different things, so don't be surprised.

The was that Muhammad were defensive. When the meccans violated the treaty of Hudaybia, the prophet was given permission to march on Mecca and it fell without a single arrow thrown. Even in victory, the Prophet showed magnanimity of the highest order. Verses of Quran arguing Muslims to fight and slay the enemies when they transgress are to serve as deterrents for aggressors and for the Muslims to defend peace and noble co-existence. Muslims are the best nation raised for mankind, they believe in God, invite to what is right and forbid evil. Islamic faith is not a docile one.

As for the abrogation of verses that God proclaimed in the Quran, you only have realize that its because of His Mercy and Compassion for His Slaves. Look at it this way, when Intoxicant was to be prohibited, God did it in stages. The verse that mentioned that when you are intoxicated, don't perform salat came before the one that says you should not indulge in it at all. If you are not careful and you read the former verse, you may be tempted to say the Intoxicants are permitted in Islam, but that is not the case. With this example, I think you can appreciate the issue of abrogation of verses better.

To my Beethoven loving friend, you cannot compare sleep with death, neither can you compare day and night. I am a music lover and player myself and I have two albums to my credit. But music is not Revelations although Quran is somehow rhythmic. But just try what I have said by listening to the Quran and report your experience here.
