IslamHappy New Islamic Year by nuru(op): 3:04pm On Jan 30, 2006
This is to wish all members and visitors to Nairaland HAPPY NEW ISLAMIC YEAR ( 1427 A.H. ) that is starting today.

A.H. means after Hijira. Hijira is the incidence of migration of the Holy Prophet Muhammad from Mecca, his place of Birth to Yathrib ( subsequently called Medinat till today ) when he was 53 years old in the year 623 A.D. It was in Medinat that the message and the messanger were accepted and the first nation of Islam emerged. Hijirah in spiritual sense means among others, migration from darkness to light, from failure to success, from opression to liberation, from disbelieve to faith, from evildoing to righteouseness, from turmoil to peace and from blame to praise.

May we witness many more of the blessings of the new year.

Christianity EtcRe: Christians: Can a Non-Christian Go to Heaven? by nuru(m): 11:08am On Dec 23, 2005
Muhammad is not the founder of Islam. He only happened to be the Prophet that God used to complete the emergence of Islam and to correct the distortions that were introduced into the teachings of the earlier prophets. Long before Muhammad, Abraham, Ishmael, Jacob, Moses, David, Solomon, Jesus and all the other prophets taught Islam in parts, but the completeness and comprehensiveness was attained at the time of Prophet Muhammad.

It was Abraham that actually named the Prophetic way of life, Islam, meaning Peace.

Even Jesus had to emphasise this. His only recorded way of greeting is 'Shallom alaekum '. He spoke Aramaic if you know, a language close to Hebrew and the meaning taken to common English is ' Peace be upon you ' The only set of people greeting with this phrase on the surface of the earth are the muslims. Taken to a deeper meaning, Jesus was saying " Islam is incumbent upon you " . That is why he chided Peter when the latter initially refused his legs to be washed at the Feast of Passover and telling the disciples that even when they did not understand the meaning of his actions, whoever failed to copy him has no part of him.

I hope we can all acknowledge the Truth.
Christianity EtcRe: Biblical Contradictions: What should we believe by nuru(m): 10:51am On Dec 23, 2005
One should not be afraid of acknowledging facts even if you do not follow it. Truthful Chriatians can see all these contradictions and they never argue that they do not exist.

The Quran teaches the following

' There is no compulsion in Religion'

' Say, "For you is your religion and for me mine" '
FamilyRe: Need Advice On Life as a Single Mother by nuru(m): 10:13am On Dec 23, 2005
ComomJorr spoke my mind.
Let truth prevail in your handling of the situation.
What i want to add is that your life is not over. Look at this, I have a niece who had a baby at 16 like you. Father was too young to acknowledge the deed and simply drifted away. Our family took charge and the lady went back to school. 2nd year in the university, she got impregnated again for another student who though acknowledge the baby but had no means of taking care of mother and baby. Because both had to finish school, his parents took in the baby and suddenly the father of the first baby showed up and wanted a secret wedding. Of course, we told both to leave the lady until she gets out of school. We even got her transfered to another University. We later found out that the first father came back only because he discovered the lady has british passport and he was planning to latch on to it to get to UK. We also found out that the second father was into cult and drugs in school. To cut a long story short, my niece is engaged to another respectable man now who is aware of her past and the children are also aware of their fathers. So please do not despair of God's mercy

Christianity EtcRe: Christians: Can a Non-Christian Go to Heaven? by nuru(m): 7:16pm On Dec 21, 2005
Nicetohave, I will start by saying a Muslim is some one who Submits his/her Will to God. This Is What Jesus Did and Taught.

Secondly you would realize that Son of God is a figure of speech which many other Prophets were labeled as, for example; in the King James Version of the Bible

(Psalms 2:7) David is the begotten Son of God.

Many others in the Bible are called God's son;

Jacob God's firstborn son (Exodus 4:22)
Solomon is God's son (2 Samuel 7:13-14)
Ephraim is God's firstborn son (Jeremiah 31:9)
Adam is the son of God (Luke 3:38)

Other Prophets were Labeled as Messiah for example {1 Samuel 15:17} Which in Hebrew means Anointed/Chosen/Prophet;

Solomon (1 Kings 1:39)
David (1 Samuel 16:13)
Jewish priests (Leviticus 4)

Other Prophets Performed similar Miracles as Jesus ;

Ezekiel raised many from the dead (Ezekiel 37:1-9)
Joshua stopped the sun and moon for one whole day (Joshua 10:12-13)
Elisha raised the dead, resurrected himself, healed a leper, fed a hundred people with twenty barley loaves and a few ears of corn, and healed a blind man: (2 Kings 4:35, 13:21, 5:14, 4:44, and 6:11.)
Elijah raised the dead (1 Kings 17:22 and 14.)

Other Prophets were filled with the Holy Ghost;

Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost (Luke 1:67)
Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost (Luke 1:41)

Many other Prophets were called Lord for example;

Abraham (Genesis 18:12)
Esau (Genesis 32:4)
Joseph (Genesis 44:20)
David (1 Samuel 25:24)

Now you should consider the following facts,

Jesus asserted that the very first article of faith is oneness of God just like the Muslims (Mark 12 Vs 29)

Jesus taught to rinse before Praying as Muslims do {John 13:10}

Jesus bowed down in Submission on the Ground to God as Muslims do {Matthew 26:39}

Jesus said, all of You who Submit your will to God, are my true Brothers and Sisters (Mark 3:31-35) as Muslims do

Jesus taught Salvation comes from Submitting your will to God and Faith as Muslims do .

(Matthew 7:21-23) "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles? Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'"

In conclusion, Jesus was neither a Jew nor a Christian, Lets see where the name Jew comes from. {Gen 11:31} we see that Abraham took his family out of his home land "Ur of the Chaldees"

Therefore, Abraham could not have been a Jew because that is a part of Iraq. He was more an Arab than a Jew. Secondly, the name Jew came after the existence of Judah, the great-grandson of Abraham.

Abraham in the Bible is called "a Hebrew" {Genesis 14:13} which means a human from the other side of the Euphrates. It also means pertaining to Eber a descendant of Shem, clearly not "a Jew".

The descendants of Jacob were called Israelites {Gen 32:28} consisting of twelve tribes. Judah was nicknamed "Jew" so that only Judah's descendants were called Jews originally.

Moses, was from the tribe "Levite" {Exodus 6:16-20} therefore also not a Jew. The name Jew {according to the Bible} is not a reflection of "an organized religion" , but a Tribe, a fore name, an ancestor branch off of a large family tree.

Jesus may have been a Jew by birth right, but a Muslim by Faith. I rest my case AND THEREFORE INVITE YOU TO BELIEVE IN JESUS..

IslamRe: Harvard Educated Minister Converts to Islam by nuru(m): 8:09pm On Dec 20, 2005
You see, if you examine the true teachings of Jesus Christ without bias, i gave the challenge in another discussion topic, and you know the teachings of Muhammad, you would find a striking compatibility. In fact they are the same. God willing, we will discuss this in greater details later. Since the meaning of muslim is one that submits willfully to his Creator, then Jesus is a muslim, and so are all the Holy Prophets before him.
Christianity EtcRe: Have you Read the Quran Before? by nuru(op): 8:01pm On Dec 20, 2005
What we are talking of is the reading of the Quran, you should not be afraid of that. Its not about changing or not changing to islam, it is about being knowledgeable of the tuth it contains. It is only God that gives the grace for one to follow the truth but you should at least try to know it.

If a so called christian has not heard of Eli Eli spoken by Jesus before in this days of tongue speaking in churches, then he/she should go back to a knowledable pastor to teach him. You see, dogmatism without reason is antichrist because Jesus in all his teachings always appeal for you to use your faculty. We need to prove the existence of Muhammed in the Bible to lead people back to the true teachings of Jesus. Please do a bit of research on the language that Jesus spoke and get a deeper understanding of this great teacher.

Christianity EtcRe: I Do Not Believe in God by nuru(m): 7:24pm On Dec 20, 2005
Nferny, the reason for my question is to demonstrate that if one cannot remember a simple fact about one's past existence, and one acknowledge that indeed one passed through that phase of existence, then it is irrational for one not to believe the existence of God on the basis that one cannot see Him physically.
IslamRe: Prophet Muhammad in the Bible by nuru(m): 1:48pm On Dec 20, 2005
Because in Jn 16 Vs 12, Jesus Christ admitted that he could not complete the message and God chose Muhammed to complete it. That completion is foretold, hence the mention of the name Muhammad in the original language that Jesus spoke but diabolically tranlated to Spirit in English in order to cover the Truth. We thank God that similar statements like 'Eli, Eli Lamo sabchtani ' has not been lost to tranlators. By the way, do you know the language that Jesus spoke.

Christianity EtcRe: Have you Read the Quran Before? by nuru(op): 8:30pm On Dec 19, 2005
It is not about fellowship with spirits, its about knowledge of the Truth and its admission even if one does not follow it. I can bet that at a time you claim to have been a muslim, it was just because your parents lured you in. This thread is an invitation for Self discovery and you cannot do that unless you approach every issue with open mind. At least by reading the Quran and trying to understand it, you would be a more informed christian if you still choose to be one and if God so wish and you reconvert to Islam, you would have gotten a good proof.

Let me say that the believe in Christ Jesus in non-negotiable. What are his true teachings. You would get a glimpse of it if you carry out this simple excersise. Take a copy of the Bible and extract out any statement directly credited to Jesus. Leave out all the stories and the paraphrases. Pick out his direct quotations and weave the statements into a single document. Read carefully and ask yourself on each point, do i believe this, do i practise this, do i emphasise this. By so doing, you would not but catch a glimpse of True Jesus and his Gospel. Please do this and report your findings to the forum.
