What is the trim and VIN no. I have somebody who is interested. |
In this case that is given the much publicity, the clerics should have used the opportunity to teach her Islam. But then, thousands of such cases are treated daily in the Prophetic way ( always for peace) without its mention by the western media. Nobody would have heard of this case had she been silently lectured and told to go home. I think the Lady went too far as a teacher of seven year olds who could not apply simple discretion in adopting the suggestion from a toddler. She should go back to a teacher training school. |
Even the way people are posting on this thread tells any rational unbiased umpire that christians are more intolerant of Islam than muslims of christianity. Yet christians will be the first to accuse muslims of extremism. Everybody should do a quick check of previous postings, who are those calling names, abusing and arguing rough when this is supposed to be a decent discourse. Some should be ashamed of what they are spewing out in hatred. |
Ladies and Gentlemen, Non Muslims should have seen by now that Muslims abhor poking funs (or its semblance) at the names of Allah and that of Muhammad. The Yorubas would say "mowa foniwa lonje orejore". There is no point finding execuses for the Lady-Teacher. The age-old adage is " Do in Rome like the Romans". The lady should have read up the culture and and believes of her host before even setting her foot on their soil. Be that as it may be, she could be pardoned and be made to sign undertakings that she would henceforth not provoke her hosts. The clerics should seize the opportunity to teach her Islam and leave her to either accept the truth or continue in error. |
@cgift Which religion is the fastest growing in the U.S and Europe today. Please do your research before replying. |
It is a fallacy to state that Muslim men prefer to date Christian ladies. It is too much of a generalization. Muslim men, I am one so I should know, prefer fellow muslims. One can therefore say that the basis of this thread is faulty and I don't think we should waste time on the discourse. |
@Mukina, Jazakillau Khaeran for the Hajj exposition. You had me taken back few years ago when I performed the Hajj and I could picture clearly the various spots for the various acts. May be if anybody has a movie on Hajj rites, it can be shared here. Maa Salam |
L & G, I bought one and found it good. It has drropped several times and has not died. The TV reception is clear and it came in handy the other day when my wife wanted to watch Catalina and Sebastine and we were held up in a traffic jam. Mine has a USB port and I connect directly to my laptop for downloading and even recharging the phone. I think it'a nice effort from the Chinese. Maybe we Nigerians can take up a challenge to develop the features of the phone better. |
@ Leejay55 I agree with you. It gets to an age that irrespective of the facade in the open, an unmarried person weeps for him/herself in private. It is the ordainment of God and who is it that knows our constituent/cravings better than its creator. |
@Olrotimi Read, Read in the name of your Lord that created. |
@ Babs Alhamdulilai, Brother Jamiu and a host of others have kept the flag flying. I have not really been close to Brother Jamiu, but I do watch him from a distance. Ustadh Adebowale was the Protem National Secretary of ISMAN ( Islamic Musician Association of Nigeria) while I was the Financial Secretary and we got close because we both shared some conviction that music could actually be a very good tool for propagation if packaged properly. That was before Izharul Haqq started in full swing. He was so passionate about Dawah that he gave up his other engagements to take it up, and he later died a martyr. May Allah bless him and all of you that are doing the Dawah work. Amin. |
@Mukhtar Moriabban. You should also tell others to join us here to learnt from our Sheikhs and Sheikhats. @Babs Late Adebowale of Izharul Haqq was my friend. May Allah forgive him and grant him Jannat. |
@Mukina and all Jazakumullau Khaeran. |
Salam everybody. Congrats Babs. I am also still praying that my mum becomes a muslim. May Allah that guided your dad to the Truth also guide her. Every muslim here should please help me supplicate to Allah for her guidance. I love her dearly and she has been an excellent mother. I learnt during the last ten days of Ramadan that I spent in Makkah that millions of people are serving Allah with thier persons and belongings and if one deliberately and arrogantly turn away from the Truth, it will not reduce anything from the Glory of Allah. Subhanou Wataala. |
@ Spicie Love the Quranic Script. First time I am seeing that on Nairaland. Jazakumullau Khaeran to all of you. Ramadan Kareem. |

@ PMDABOH, Thanks for that posting. This is what muslims expect from people of other faiths. To understand and respect what we muslims believe and not to belittle them. Thanks gain. Morhaban bika Ya Ramadan. |
Because it is the Word of Allah. Try memorizing some verses yourself and see what the big deal is all about. |
Alhamdulilai. May Allah increase us in knowledge. |
I wanted to be there but my wife scolded me out. She thought I might constitute a distraction to her shows. She's had three now. That also gave me the opportunity to undergo my own pain and anxiety; praying, imagining, strolling round the hospital and generally filling unsure if everything or anything will go on well. I think that on its own is more painful than being at the real show. |
Ladies and Gentlemen, Of late, I have been preoccupied with official duties. By God's Grace, you would read from me soon. |
" Christianity is ALL about ONE GOD! " Congratulations to anybody that believes in One God. " First and foremost, Sango, Ogun, Ifa religions ALL connote and emphasis the worship of "one god", " That is a lie. Ask any yorubaman, they will explain to you that Sango and Ogun worshipers believe in multiple dieties. '' It is Islam and Mohamed who have mischieviously misled millions by reading 3 God's into the bible '' If you disbelieve the god of the father, son and holy ghost and believe One God as did Jesus, then congrats again. " What are the historical evidences that prove that Islam existed before the 7th century? Where is the lost injil and torah? Why did Allah refuse to make a single reference to the quran, Mohamed, ka'aba, salat, hadith e.t.c. before the 7th century? " Even as corrupted as the Bible is, reference to true worship of One God as preached by earlier Apostles has not been totally edited out. Read Mark 12 Verses 28, 29 etc. As for Salat, read Nehemiah 8 vs 4- 6 (KJV) and Jesus taught the disciples the rudiment of Wudu, ablution and even sworn that anybody that does not do it has no part of him. " There is one major problem with this account, as at the time Muhammad claimed to have been transported to the temple mount it had ceased to exist more than 500 years ago! " What is your source of information. Even lets for a minute assume your source is right, the spot at least is still known. And the Quran talks of its blessed precincts, for you to understand clearly. " Meanwhile, just for the records. I've been quite concerned about this whole business about what direction a Muslim is commanded to face - not only in prayer, but also in answering nature's call. " The question of where a Muslim should face during Salat has been answered convincingly on the thread for men/women of understanding. As for answering the call of nature, that is a topic for another thread but a little glimpse is here. If the Hadith books records that the Prophet faced a particular direction during the call of nature and forbade Muslims from facing same direction, so be it. The Muslims must obey his advise because he is the Prophet of God. He is the one the received the revelations and he is the one that knows its application. Afterall none of his companions accompanied him on The saintly journey that he undertook. The example is like that of Jesus Christ who neither had a wife, nor children, nor built a house, nor owned a means of transport, but did not forbid anybody from them. We followers of Jesus will not say because he led an ascetic life, we will not enjoy these Favors of God. I hope you can see that it is what the Prophets says you do, that you do. And what he forbids, you forbid and if he sees you doing something and did not dissuade you , then that thing is among the things permitted for you. The is the principle of Hadith and Sunnah, for men/women of understanding. " Strongest among men in enmity to the believers wilt thou find the Jews and Pagans; and nearest among them in love to the believers wilt thou find those who say, "We are Christians": because amongst these are men devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world, and they are not arrogant. -- Qur'an 5:82. '' God did not need to impress anybody with His Revelations. He has only forwarned the nu slims of the reality of life for a believer. Come to think of it, Christians at least have a vague idea of what to believe in Jesus Christ and the Muslims believe wholeheartedly in the same prophet while the Jews outrightly rejected him and the idolaters don't even know him. Is God's statement not right. There are among Christians those who are celibates and they remain humble even in their celibacy. Is God not right Even as we write today, the Jews are still the main enemies of Muslims, forget all these nonsense that ignorantly over-zealous Christians are spewing on this forum. Even some of you Christians are being funded covertly by Jews to attack Islam without your knowledge. Go and fined out about the one-eyed Zionists and get the jist. The Muslim nation is best, most justly balanced ever raised for mankind. We command to what is right and forbid what is evil but only the men of understanding will know. May the peace of God continue to abide with all the Prophets of God and all righteous believers. |
# Why would God have had to set Islam aside and establish Judaism and Christianity before coming back to Islam centuries later?? God did not establish Judaism and Christianity. People deviated into them after clear signs had come to them from the Apostles of their time, Jesus, Moses, David etc. Islam connotes the worship of One True God and that is what all the Prophets preached. and that is Islam. So there is no setting aside of Islam and reverting back to it later. Islam has always been there and people have always tried to pervert it, but without lasting success. # What was the main reason why Muhammad was first facing Jerusalem in his prayers? He was transported to Jerusalem from Makkah during the saintly journey that God made him to undertake and during which the details of Salat as we have it now was communicated and enjoined on him and generations to follow. It was during this journey that all the details of Salat were given and that included where to face in its performance. # What was the main reason why Muhammad turned from Jerusalem to the Kaa'ba? Because God commanded it and who is Muhammad (SAW) to disobey his Lord. Who are the Muslims to disobey the commandment of God. # Why was the prayer direction not first towards the Kaa'ba but rather towards Jerusalem? Because that was what God wanted. # why is there not a single mention of the BLACK STONE anywhere in the religious history of Adam, Abraham and the Jews in their worship when you read the Jewish scriptures? The religious history (written by whom). Muslim religious history tells us that among the builders of the Kaaba at various times include Abraham and his son, the Quraesh and even after the passing away of Muhammad (SAW), it has been rebuilt several times. Black stone is not specifically mentioned (in words) in the Quran but the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) did kiss it and Muhammad ( SAW) would not say or do anything except what has been commended to him. If Muslims do not know why he kissed the stone, that is not enough to say Muslims do not have enough reason to do as the Prophet did. We hear and we obey. Call us 'Zombies' for God and we will like it. Afterall, he Muhammad is best example to follow for anybody that desire peace in this world and in the hereafter. Well some dont even believe in the hereafter. Sorry for you. # who commanded Muhammad to KISS the BLACK STONE, and what is the significance of that? His Lord commanded him. He would not do anything of his own volition except God commanded him. Reason not yet known to me. # who commanded Muslims to venerate the BLACK STONE in their hajj to Mecca?? Muslims are commanded to take the Prophet as an example. If Muhammad kissed the stone, worthy Muslims must try as a matter of fact to kiss the same black stone, especially given that some of them would only have just one chance in life to behold the stone. # why is the hajj to the Kaa'ba and the BLACK STONE nowhere indicated in the Torah??[/font] I have not read the Torah. But Quran tells us that Ibrahim did make a call for Hajj after building the Kaaba even as it was in the desert, deserted, and God promised that people will harken to that call throughout generations from all over the world. If you go on Hajj, you would be obeying the commandment of God as well as answering the call of Ibrahim if you are sincere. # If Adam or Abraham were the first Muslims, who then were their caliphs? Adam had Shittu, Abraham had Ismail and Yaqub and other prophets after them. # Why is there no record at all that Abraham was a Muslim other than as claimed by Muhammad alone? The fact that he called to the worship of One God is enough of a fact. At least Bible does not dispute that. # Since you claim that all the Prophets were Islam (Muslim), are Islam and Judaism the same religion? No. Islam is Islam but attempts in the past to corrupt it after the messengers had left such in the case of Moses gave birth to Judaism. But God was always sending follow-up messangers to clean the mess and turn people back to the straight path, Islam. That is the way of God. # And if they're not the same, were Moses and the Jews practicing the religion of Islam from the Torah? Of course, the Torah was revealed by God to Moses and in it was Islam, the worship of One God. Moses practiced Islam from the Torah. A section of the Children of Israel followed him properly without deviation and a section deviated. # Where was Islam when Judaism was born and continued among the Jews for several centuries? Islam continued to exist among the true followers of Moses and when Jesus cam, the same true followers recognized him and acknowledged him. But those that deviated rejected Jesus. and Jesus with John the Baptist (YAHYA) reorientated people towards the worship of One God and when they left, some clinged to this faith and others deviated and followed Paul. Such was the condition of the world until the emergence of Muhammad(SAW) and all remaining true worshipers of One God recognized him. And the religion was perfected through him. May the Peace of God continue to abide with all true worshipers of One God, The True and Eternal Lord. |
God created the world and all in it. Observing different aspects of nature as commanded by God for the purpose of worship is not idolatry. What is idolatry. It is to ascribe and to believe and to act upon such believe that there is another diety worthy of worship beside or alongside your creator. That is idolatry. Muslims believe in God, the One and Only Creator of the entire universe. So what is so special about the Kaaba. What is special about it is that God commanded believers to face it when observing salat. How was the commandment communicated. Of course it is through the Quran revealed to the most noble of mankind, Muhammad the son of Abdullah, the Prophet of God.(Salla lau alaehi wa salam) Will Christ know what you say in your heart. No Will God know what you say in your heart. Yes Why is that. Because God is your Creator and Jesus is not. But Jesus is special. Yes, to the extent that he is a Spirit of God But cant Spirit of God be God. No, they are different. One is the Origin, the other is subservient to Him But this issue of Qiblah. Yes, facing it for salat is only symbolic. All mankind must focus on God, that is the lesson Why is it in Makkah. To get an answer, you must first answer this '' why is River Niger in Nigeria, why does the tide rise and fall, why must the earth orbit the sun, why must man live and die. A lot of whys. that you may not be able to answer. So, if the Lord of Wisdom says face a particular place for salat, who are you to dispute it. |
The original question on the thread is " Why do Muslims face the East when praying". Its been explained in previous postings that the Muslims do not face east when "praying". Rather Muslims face the Qiblah when observing the "canonical worship" called salat. Salat is compulsory five times in a day for a "typical" Muslim . There other practices that Muslims engage in that are roughly translated to prayer in English. These include supplication(duai), Reflections(Adhkar), etc. Muslims are not enjoined to face the Qiblah during those other acts. From above, the question can then be rephrased as " Why do Muslims face the Qiblah when performing salat" . The simple answer is that it is a commandment of God and true believers will obey God first of all before looking for comprehensible reasons for the commandment. Another question will then be " Do the Muslims get the direction of the Qiblah right ". Yes, most Muslims do and even where genuinely, there is an error, God has given so much latitude as to declare that His face is everywhere in every direction. That is one of the things that show that Islam is a practical religion. Another question is " Do Muslims now have other comprehensible reasons for facing the Qiblah apart from following God's injunction " Yes Muslims do. Facing the Qiblah from all over the world is a big spiritual statement. Think of the Qiblah as multitudes of arrows pointing to the same spot from all around the globe. The spot is the Kaaba which is situated in the Sacred Masjid in Makkah. The Kaaba is just a building of four walls with covered roofs and a black stone at one of the corners. When you are in the Sacred Masjid, you pray facing the Kaaba. Pilgrimage to the Sacred Masjid which entails 'circumbulation' round the Kaaba is enjoined on a "typical" Muslim at least once in his/her lifetime. At least from human reasoning, we know that facing the Qiblah is a constant reminder of universal brotherhood of mankind under one creator, Allah. This is the spiritual statement. "What informs the location of the Kaaba". Only God and his Messanger can answer that definitely. Its just like asking what determines the location of oil reserves and deposits of diamond, gold etc around the world. There are lots of history surrounding the building of the Kaaba that the Muslims believe in and they are plausible. But a more ordinary look tells you that looking at the map of the world, as it was acclaimed ( still looking for the reference )that probably the continents were joined together before, and given the location of Makkah, you would almost conclude that the Kaaba is at the centre of the surface of the earth. Now come to think of it, there are two dates and time in a year that sun comes overhead above the Kaaba. Those two dates and times are: May 28 at 9:18UT July 16 at 9:27UT " When you observe the sun at these times (after converting it to your local time), you will be facing the Kaaba giving you Qibla direction, because if there were a very high minaret over Kaaba reaching up to the sky, then you will see it just like you are seeing the sun. " " Now, let us take a few examples. If you are in Islamabad, Pakistan (+5 hours time difference from Greenwich), the local time to observe the sun would be 2:18pm on May 28, and 2:27pm on July 16. Similarly, if you are in Nova Scotia, Canada (-3 hours time difference from Greenwich), the local time to observe the sun would be 6:18am on May 28, and 6:27am on July 16" " If you are at a location that you cannot see the sun on the above mentioned two dates, then you can locate Qibla from the sun when it comes overhead at a point diametrically opposite of Makkah on the globe and look for the following two dates and times: November 28 at 21:09UT January 16 at 21:29UT Face toward the shadow from the sun at these times (after converting it to local time) and you will be facing Kaaba. If you can see the sun but cannot see the shadow, put your back towards the sun and your face will be towards Qibla. " I hope everybody on the thread can check out the above facts that have been proved over the ages. The rising and setting of the sun cannot be manipulated at least for now by humans. It is the work of the Creator of every being. " Glory be to Him in Whose hand is the dominion of the Heavens and the Earths. May His Peace continue to abide with the Righteous and the Truthful '' |
Given the contributions on this thread so far, I agree that its better to use a driving school for getting ones spouse to learn driving. |
I taught my wife how to drive. It was fun because I didn't get angry even when she almost ran the car into a ditch. Today, we both enjoy looking back and laughing over the silly moments. |
Yes I believe in the genuine teachings of Jesus Christ. Apart from that, there is guarantee of SALVATION in Islam. Read Quran Chapter 18 Verse 107 & 108 '' As to those who believe and work righteous deeds, they have, for their entertainment, the Gardens of Paradise, wherein they shall dwell (for aye): no change will they wish for from them '' Also read Chapter 23 of the Quran as follows; In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful 1. The believers must (eventually) win through,- 2. Those who humble themselves in their prayers; 3. Who avoid vain talk; 4. Who are active in deeds of charity; 5. Who abstain from sex, 6. Except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess,- for (in their case) they are free from blame, 7. But those whose desires exceed those limits are transgressors;- 8. Those who faithfully observe their trusts and their covenants; 9. And who (strictly) guard their prayers;- 10. These will be the heirs, 11. Who will inherit Paradise: they will dwell therein (for ever). |
May Allah grant him quick recovery. |
Spicyronny, May God bless you. What you are telling them is exactly what I have also been trying to tell them. But some people are blinded and deafened by prejudice. In any case, this country need to move forward and we all need to recognise and respect our differences and play more on what can unify us and bring progress. I hope Nairaland users can pick up this attitude. Once again, May God bless the peace lovers. |
Some people wishing Muslims to go on rampage are disappointed that they have not done so. Shame on you. |
