Its a globaly known fact that the North ranks among the worst in the world in terms of health & developmental index, from illiteracy, diseases, maternal mortality, under 5 mortality, VVF, paedophilia, poverty etc. The North will remain impoverished even in the next hundred years!

With ur high literacy, u still scored zero in pri sch arithmetic (1/3 of 12000). 'globally known fact'. Maybe the official report was cooked in Kano state. Also, since the centre is of more benefit to the north, the yet to be answered question is; why was it established there with Ebonyi tax payers money where it is useless? This is just common sense. It is just like establishing an Almjiri School in Imo state, of what use is it to the state indigenes? As someone has pointed out above, those centres exist in the north and even if some northerners attend the one in Ebonyi state, the number may be very insignificant. This is one of the several consequences of early prostitution and more are still coming up. Keep living in denial.

In the islamic North, it is common to see teenage mothers & pregnant adolecents who were married off at 13years. It is common sense bro, how can Ebonyi alone have 3000 cases out of 12000? A collosal 1/3 of total cases in Nigeria! They came from diff parts of the country!!

First let me correct u; 3000 is 1/4 of 12000 not 1/3. Now,the report stated it clearly that 3000 are from Ebonyi state alone, very unbelievable, right? But that is just the truth. Now let me ask u, why is it that official reports of this nature that are seemingly against the north are never disputed?

The reason is most likely to be because there is a VVF specialist & referal centre built in Abakiliki that treats patients from all over Nigeria. The major cause of VVF is early marriage & child birth by underage girls which is far more rampart in the Northern states.

And under age unwanted pregnancies are not common in the southern states? As some experts have pointed out above, vvf is a result of complications during labour. Are u now comparing access to medical facilities between an accepted underage pregnant lady and the unaccepted one? Attempts are being made to cover up with the lame excuse that the report is a record of cases being treated on referrals from other states. At least states of patients are among the entries in the patients' hospital cards and this 3000 are indigenes of Ebonyi not residents or referred cases.

Ebonyi state is the center for prevention and treatment of VVF and that is why the USAID as decided to lavish a sum of 45million to equip it, when are you going to receive sense?

Ok, u have done ur little findings about the meaning of sample. Now, let me educate u further on that. Whenever a sample is taken, effort is made to include all varieties and where that is not possible, at least the dominant varieties. If the northerners are as dominating as u are trying to say, at least one or two should be in the picture. And insult or any other form of aggression is not a good way of driving home a point. Rather, it displays either wrong upbringing or poverty of idea and logic. I don't trade insult unnecessarily. Cheers...

The fact that it is rampant in ur region doesn't make it a general case. Yes, unwanted pregnancies do occur in the north, but do u know the use of statistics? I am a northerner and I served in the East where u will see a girl that is barely 13 but had performed at least one abortion. Research has shown that 70% of the 3000 victims of the VVF in Ebonyi are northerners living in the state, Abakaliki is known to have the highest number of northerners in the east so don't think Ebonyi indigenes are the affected, its just unfortunate that they harbour the VVF victims.
