Jonathan Also Leads in Plateau
The results announced at the various polling units across Jos South, Jos East, Barkinladi , Mikang and Shendam local government areas show that the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is leading the polls in Plateau State.
However, voters at the Turaki/Yandoka and other Bauchi Road polling units, which are in the muslim dominated areas of Jos North local government area showed preference for Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of the CPC, according to early results.
Plateau Governor, Jonah David Jang told a group of journalists after casting his vote at the Ladura Du polling unit at Jos South that he was happy about the massive turn out and that he was sure that Plateau will deliver the maximum votes to President Jonathan.
Jang asserted ” we have promised to deliver the highest number of votes in the north to Jonathan in Plateau and you can observe that we are almost on the verge of achieving that.”
Some voters interviewed at Jos South and Jos metropolis were equally optimistic that their votes will count in favour of Jonathan .
Meanwhile as at 5 p.m most polling units across the metropolitan Jos north and Jos South were still being counted.

soldee: That makes it 17 states out of 19 for Cpc up North.
Pls correct me if I'm wrong: the winner must have at least 25% of votes in 2/3rds of states + FCT. That's 25% minimum in 24 states. What are the rules for a clear majority pls? I think you are correct. The way it seems now, no candidate is likely to meet this requirement. A run-off is inevitable, as many analysts predicted. |

Kobojunkie: According to much of the results coming in from the SE, it almost seems to next to no votes went in for any of the other parties -- Even ACN got next to no votes in many of the areas. That is a sure disturbing sign from the SE. If we see where the Bigotry is coming from, it does not seem to be coming from the North this time around . . . Kobo, na wa for you o. You dont ever give up. Is the North not doing the same thing? Even the SW(the ACN stronghold) voted PDP. The Southeasterners will soon declare you as persona non grata |

Odunnu: Fake News What part of Enugu? I witnessed a fight, took pictures and recorded a video of an ANPP agent who came into a unit with thumbprinted papers and was trying to bribe a police. Thats about it. I volunteered my break and quench jalopy and assumed local observer status because I helped two Pressmen to their units. Haba, if something this heinous happened in this town, I for know nah Thank you, my sister. They think there are no people on ground to confirm. |

efisher: True but if NC falls to Buhari's side, there will likely be a runoff. GEJ needs to get so much more from SW if he is to survive outright. I believe at the end of the day, the winner's margin will be very small. From the results I've seen so far in the SW, I think it's PDP all the way. |

OAM4J: I think we can safely declare 90% of the registered voters of SS/SE in favour of GEJ, balance it with the result you get in the North.
The SW actually has given the victory to GEJ. IMO. I initially thought the SW would decide this election, but I strongly think it would be the NC Buhari looks good to go with the 13 states of the NW and NE, while Jonathan is likely to have the 17 states of SW, SE and SS. The remaining 6 states of the NC will decide the winner. |

Mehn, all these big figures for CPC is scaring me. I think the NC is the beautiful bribe of this election, since it has turned to a North/South thing.
We are still a long way to go if this is how people vote.
I pray for Jonathan. It will be a disgrace losing as a sitting President. |

Kobojunkie: I am simply commenting on the message the man is trying to deliver here. No clue what you will do with it at your personal level. The man in question is a bigoted ethnocentric bat. So his message cannot be any different from reflecting his narrow-mindedness. What Igbos need in any election is for all aspirants to show us the plans they have for Ndigbo and how they intend to acheive these. The candidate with the best programme protecting Igbo interests gets our bloc votes. The alleged conspiracy of denying Igbos presidency, whether true or not, has taught us how to get the best for ourselves in this complex problematic society called Nigeria. |
Politics › Re: Ali Monguno Condemns Ohanaeze’s Call On Igbo To Vote For Jonathan by nusdog: 3:56pm On Apr 16, 2011 |
Kobojunkie: Well, to win a Presidential election, candidates will need to get votes from most every region in order to be considered. If Ibo leaders demand all ibo's vote Jonathan, and other regions demand that their regions not vote him, Jonathan will not win, no matter how many millions more Ibo votes he gets in Ibo land. It is as simple as that. So playing regional politics when the presidency is concerned is digging the regions own grave for future elections.
The man is simply stating what everyone ought to know in this. You cannot win when you play regional politics, especially if we intend to continue along this free and fair (maybe more for future than now) path. How does Igbo getting into power affect my personal life? If Nigeria wants to disintegrate because I voted for a president who for the first time in Nigeria's history treated me with the dignity I deserve as a citizen of this country, and not like some kind of vanquished booty, so be it as long I voted my choice. |

fried-rice: @ Nusdog, "I can see you deliberately left out Chime and Amaechi who are also members of the PDP.
I think the faster you understand that what's important is electing competent individual irrespective of their party"
So the Igbos of the south east are supporting Jonathan because Amaechi is performing well in South south and Chime you must have the brain of a Tadpole. silly idiat! My point is the problem is not PDP. The problem is not Nigeria, but simply how an individual chooses to conduct himself. Stop this blind accusations without reason. Face the real problem and stop chasing shadows. |

fried-rice: The Igbos are the biggest losers in this whole equation. Ruled by some of the worst hands the PDP could offer, Ohakim, theodore orji and co. yet were unable to make any change in the last elections. and definitely would not make any change in the coming Governorship election. the only opposition party APGA, is dead, having won only One of the senate seats out of 4,(sources say the governor worked to install Andy Uba of PDP) Still endorsed the PDP for presidency. The Eze gburugburu, Proclaimed leader of Ndigbo is battling for his life in London and his wife is busy frolicking with the PDP campaign train all over Nigeria. what a tribe! I can see you deliberately left out Chime and Amaechi who are also members of the PDP.
