Car Talk / Which Car Is The Most Stolen In Nigeria? by nusdog: 3:08pm On Oct 26, 2011
I've been making some observation of late on stolen cars and I come to discover that car thieves prefer and snatch some brands of vehicles more.

My guess: the most stolen car in Nigeria is Toyota Camry.

Is she from Mars?

Igbos themselves are afraid of the SE , why would you want a northerner to invest there. It's just like begging them to please, please come and kidnap me.
In any case are you planning to attack Northern investment ? I suggest you go to the north & even there is manly large farmlands - how can you destroy that? The few factories in kano are not working as there is no electricity and the southern government of the highly educated remains clueless.

Kidnapping is just a recent development in the last 4 years or so. I dont think that has anything to do with the issue.

Very wrong and stop lying

In fact i know houses of more than 20 northerners in Ikoyi/VI alone not to tale of Mainland

Again not all everyone u see in jalamia and hat are all Yoruba muslims. Don't get it wrong

they build houses and Dangote investments alone in Lagos and other SW region is so much His HQs is in Lagos and he has about 10 HQs for different branches of the company

There are hausas in ekiti and OYO state as well in large numbers with huge investments and Houses.

Not all Hausas/fulani/Kanuri goes to the North back each hoilday

King's college Lagos etc schools all have a sizable portion of Hausa/kanuri/fulanis

I'm talking of the average middle-class northerners, not the few very rich ones.

I see nothing wrong in an Igbo owning a house outside Igboland(It doesn't make much sense being a tenant).

What aches my head is setting up industries that employs labour in those places while there is none in Igboland.

lagcity:

Remember I said Dangote will invest in Igboland if he sees profit in Investing there. Dangote is already making lots of profit from Igboland without investing there, so maybe that's why he's satisfied and not willing to go further. Igbo middlemen are making money for Dangote by buying dangote products in bulk and distributing in Igboland.

Now, if you for example set up a noodle manufacturing plant in Igboland, Igbo wholesalers will abandon Dangote because they can get products from you in Igboland instead of journeying to the west or north to get supplies. You've grabbed market share from Dangote and the next thing he'll do is quickly set up his own plant in Igboland so that he can compete with you. It is just business.

This part of your post answers the question posed by this thread.

When Igbos invest in the SE, others will join them. Kapish.

South-East:

Going beyond Dangote, could you speculate as to why an average hausa living in Igboland does not own a house in Igboland even when they can afford to build one? Yorubas do, that I know.

Even in the west, they rarely do own houses. I think it's just their way of life.

I've worked with some of them(in their brother's company in Lagos) and they hardly bring their wives with them to a foreign land.

I think having no family ties doesn't encourage them to build concrete structures where they reside, not forgetting that many of them are very poor.

If the house is small, then it would be easy to sell off or dispose of it.
Most of the time though, folks forget our past and start building profusely.

One or two bedroom bungalow or shack may do outside Igboland. cool
Build that mansion in the East.

I really agree with you on it being a low budget, small house outside Igboland. Just one for your personal use.

Any thing extra should be in Alaigbo.
Politics / Re: Ndigbo, It Is Time To Return Home And Develop East by nusdog: 9:59am On Sep 28, 2011
There's nothing wrong in an Igbo building just ONE house in the zone where he lives. It's better than and more dignifying than paying rent.

But if you know what you are doing, you can build more than one to sell off and build bigger properties in the SE. Thats if it's not a death zone.

I intend erecting shopping malls in Aba and Enugu sometime in the future.

Rivers pple know dey have Igbo
heritage but we have a problem
when the Igbos of SE say we
are Igbo.

Ijaw_girl, I honestly think you'll be doing a big favour by speaking for yourself and for those you personally know. Not all Rivers people disclaim being Igbos. I know a couple of Igbos from Rivers state on a personal level.

Refrain from making a generalization as above.
Culture / Re: Marriage Between Rivers People And Igbos. by nusdog: 7:05am On Sep 26, 2011
I really think Igbos should not be bothered about how a group feel about them.

I dont care on a personal level, I dont have the need of seeking anybody's approval.

In my wicked mind, I still wished our ancestors didn't allow them to settle on the coastline, or at best limit them to living on their boats on the Atlantic.

Culture / Re: Marriage Between Rivers People And Igbos. by nusdog: 7:27pm On Sep 25, 2011
This sounds weird, but true in a lot of cases.

Marrying females from the group you so despise gives a sense of 'psychological' dominance over that group.

In the old days, when a conquering army defeats their enemies in battle, they kill or enslave the males, but keep the females for themselves as wives or concubines.

I think this still plays out somehow in modern times, ofcourse, without the battles.
