Chairman, Yoruba Progressive Forum (YPF), Mr. John Oyelekan, has lamented that the Yoruba, who have lived together with their Delta brothers from pre-colonial times and under Western region are not being properly integrated. He spoke at the group’s meeting in Sapele, where he urged Delta State indigenes to recognize them. The chairman also said, “it is unfortunate that we are not even allotted a slot as councilors in the local government and our children who were born, bred and were educated here are not considered for any job or employment. “We see no reason we should not have their fair share from the state we have committed so much to by getting appointments and being elected into offices.” He pointed out that as citizens with decades of long stay in Delta State, having registered for elections in the state to vote, “we should equally be voted for in the state as our dwelling place. “Prominent Yoruba people living in Delta State have inter-marital relationship with Urhobos, Itsekiris, Ijaws, Isokos and Ndigbo in Delta beside that we spend over 90 per cent of our time and resources here and pay our taxes to the state government. “Yoruba Progressive Forum is out to correct this anomaly as a non-indigene ethnic group with the greatest number in Delta State.” He pointed out that the Yoruba were pioneers in the development of many towns in the old Western region among which is Sapele. www.independentngonline.com/DailyIndependent/Article.aspx?id=32460 |
I dont see anything wrong with the caption. Is that not what happened? Thank God they were able to break the door, and escape. These rioters are animals! |
Abagworo:ACN is the southern recipe for political violence. Anywhere this party goes, it carries along with it thuggery and anarchy. This is the more reason why it must be kicked out from all parts of Nigeria back to the SW where it comes from. P.S Paul Ikonne is a fine man, but he will lose woefully in Abia because of his attachment with ACN. It's an unforgivable sin. |

afam4eva:Buhari seems to be the last. IBB and co have now gone into retirement. Except, they go ahead, more civil war 'heroes' like Danjuma, then they'll get 0% Igbo votes. They can be assured of that. |

Following the unrest that has broken out in some parts of the country barely two days after the presidential polls, the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has threatened to retaliate if Igbos are killed. Leader of the group, Chief Ralph Uwazurike, in a telephone chat with Daily Sun, frowned at the violence, which broke out after a presidential election considered by both national and international observers as free and fair, saying such cruel act of hooliganism was unacceptable to Ndigbo as well as natives of Southern Nigeria. While reminding the rioters and their supposed sponsors that nobody had the monopoly of violence, Uwazurike stated that MASSOB members would not fold their arms and watch Igbos were being slaughtered in the North. He, therefore, gave the Federal Government 24 hours ultimatum to ensure that the riots were brought under control, pointing out that the continued killing and spilling of the blood would no longer be tolerated. He advised the Igbos to remain calm wherever they found themselves in the country and wait for further directives. www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2011/apr/19/national-19-04-2011-012.htm |
