Only 27%  of Ugandans wash their hands with soap and water after using the toilet, health minister Jane Ruth Aceng has said.

She said opinion leaders should encourage especially the men to be washing their hands after visiting the lavatories, Uganda leading Newspaper, Monitor reports.

“Short of this, we shall continue to have mortality due to preventable diseases like typhoid, cholera and dysentery,” Dr Aceng said during plenary on Wednesday, July 5 at Parliament.

“With due respect to all the men in the House, it is mainly the women who wash their hands. The men do not.”
Dr Aceng later told the Daily Monitor that many men are not washing their hands because they do not know the dangers associated with that.

“The ministry of health has been providing information via radio, television and village health teams. Perhaps the information is not clear. If it is clear, perhaps those who do not wash their hands do not believe there is a danger of touching themselves,” she said.

She said once one touches him or herself around his or her private areas, they might touch faecal matter and should they thereafter shake hands with someone, spread the germs.

Dr. Aceng was picking up from the state minister for planning, David Bahati, who had briefed the House about this year’s World Population Day, which will be commemorated on July 11 in Busia in eastern Uganda.

“One challenge this Parliament should be aware of is the low household hygiene…This has serious implications on the control of infectious diseases,” Mr Bahati said.

Mr Bahati said that one of every four teenage girls had a baby before she clocked 19 years.
This, he added, is a national concern that calls for concerted effort to ensure teenage girls are not impregnated before they are of age.

The first ever robot receptionist clocked on for its shift at a London office today.

Pepper – named after Gwyneth Paltrow’s Iron Man character – has a screen in its chest and can identify emotions and adapt its responses, mirror UK reports.

Pictured at the Shoreditch offices of media agency Brainlabs, Pepper will greet guests on entry with personalised gestures and perform basic tasks in the workplace such as making tea and coffee.

It will also alert staff via email when visitors arrive.

At £26,000 Pepper – manufactured by Japanese robotics firm Softbanks – is cheaper than a human over time.

But the firm said no one lost their job – and it wants to automate “basic work because it leads to the creation of new jobs”.

In future the company aim to use the AI assistant to manage its interview process for new hires.

The idea comes as the latest in a long series of processes the company has automated in order to give staff capacity to innovate further.

Brainlabs CEO Daniel Gilbert commented: “In every single department at Brainlabs, we think about how to improve processes and save time.

“This doesn’t apply just to the paid advertising and work we do – it extends as far as our reception desk. So far our book-keeper has been managing the role but due to constant interruptions we had to look at alternatives.

“It was ultimately a time-costly process which we sought to automate to boost productivity at the company.”

“FAST-thinking underpins everything we do at Brainlabs: the term stands for Formalise, Automate, Share and Test.

Will Seaton always knew that when he proposed to his girlfriend of six years, he’d get down on one knee not only for his bride-to-be, but her sister, too.
And that’s exactly what the Indiana man did. After all, it’s hard to find Seaton’s girlfriend, Ashley Schaus, 23, without her 16-year-old sister, Hannah — who has Down syndrome and diabetes — by her side.

“I wanted to include Hannah in the proposal in case she may not get to experience that,” Seaton, 25, told TODAY. “Hannah is a big part of our relationship and I already consider her a sister.”

Ashley Schaus recounted telling Seaton shortly after the two started dating in 2010 that “Hannah and I were a package deal. She’s part of my life and if you’re going to be with me, she’s going to be with us.” The couple plan to marry in October.

Seaton popped the big question in March of last year in a field of daffodils in their hometown of Santa Claus, Indiana, where the Schaus family goes yearly to take family photos. “He got down on one knee and asked Hannah to be his best friend forever,” Schaus recounted, noting her sister even got her own ring, an heirloom that once belonged to the sisters’ grandmother. “And then he looked at me as I was trying to stop sobbing. I asked ‘Am I next?’ Then he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife.”

“It’s so nice to know that he loves her just as much as I do, and that he would protect her in times that I can’t be there,” said Schaus, who is a geologist. “That double layer of protection is reassuring.”
“From day one … when Hannah was born, my parents explained to me that she was extra special and that I should look out and protect her more than a typical sibling throughout her life,” Schaus said. “We pretty much do everything together.”
Since the couple began dating, approximately 80 percent of their dates have included Hannah Schaus. They would frequently catch a movie she had been wanting to see or go to GattiTown (the equivalent of their Chuck E. Cheese), where the teen loves to eat cheese pizza and play video games.

The couple met in October of 2010 when they both went to the same car show in Bristol, Indiana. Schaus, who was then 17, spotted a 1976 red Camaro that she adored, and posted a photo of it online. She would later learn, after mutual friends connected them on Facebook, that the car belonged to Seaton. Soon after, he would pick her up in that very same car for their first date at a drive-in movie theater. “And now, seven years later, we’re getting married,” she exclaimed.

Scientists believe that they have found the most beautiful woman in the world. This is based on the symmetry of her face. according to science, her face is considered to be almost perfect. Florence Colgate comes from a small British town that is on the seaside.

The 18-year-old works in a small fish bar shop two days a week. She says that she is all about natural beauty and sent in her photo for a competition to find ‘Britain’s most beautiful face.’ She had to send in a photo of her face with no makeup and won out of 8,000 people.

Contestants who had plastic surgery or chemical enhancements were not allowed to enter into the competition because it was specifically to find Britain’s most naturally beautiful face.

Florence was convinced to enter into the competition by her shop customers, friends and family.



Florence meets almost all the requirements that studies have shown make a face perfect. Studies show a perfect face is about 46% of the width of the face from ear to ear and Florence measures at 44%. Another stipulation is that the distance between the eyes and mouth should be a third of the length of your face, and Florence’s’ is at 32.8%.

Florence says that she wants to go to university but will take all the opportunities she can get from winning this competition. She won a trip to a London modelling agency and will appear on billboards and posters in stores across the country.

The competition was meant to highlight natural beauty in women and to encourage them to feel good in their own skin.

Florence said ‘Women should not have to feel that they have to wear makeup, I hope people will look at me and think they don’t need to.

’m very happy with the way I look and I would never have any plastic surgery or botox’. How refreshing in a world that seems obsessed with surgically or chemically fixing anything deemed to be a physical imperfection.

Bobbi-Jo Westley is on a mission to have the world’s biggest hips.

Currently measuring 95 inches, she’s just four inches off Mikel Ruffinelli’s – the current record holder – assets.

Although she isn’t quite there yet, Bobbi-Jo has legions of followers around the globe who trade her pictures online.

And for her biggest fans, she arranges special ‘crushing’ sessions where they pay to have her sit on them.

‘My hips are what make me unique,’ she says.

‘They’re what makes me “me”‘.

Bobbi-Jo was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid six years ago and she puts her weight gain down to that.

But when nutritionist Nadia Sharifi visited Bobbi-Jo recently, she wasn’t convinced that that was the explanation.

She says that Bobbi-Jo is a ‘ticking time bomb’ and that her current lifestyle could result in an early death.

‘It’s literally a life or death choice at this point,’ she says.

‘Hormones, or thyroid issues, or blood type or ancestry might play a little part, but ultimately it’s down to what we put into our mouth.

‘When we’re talking about her veins, she can have a block very easily. She is really, truly a ticking time bomb.’

Despite that stark warning, Bobbi-Jo says that her ultimate aim is to be crowned the proud owner of the world’s biggest hips and that she doesn’t want to lose weight until she’s achieved her goal.

‘I understand that I’m putting myself at risk by trying to get the world’s biggest hips…but it’s just something I have to do and I take it one day at a time.

‘I want to be remembered for something, and I think having the world’s biggest hips is what I was meant to be remembered for.’

The attention has come as something of a surprise for Bobbi-Jo who didn’t expect to cultivate such a big fandom.

‘When I realised that there were men out there who like my shape, I was kind of surprised. I get all kinds of presents and messages from my fans, some of them ask “will you marry me?” which is kind of hard because I’m already married.’

Of course, she’s faced online fat shaming too but she’s fine with it.

‘When I get people on social media who say I am fat, I really don’t react to it. Because I am fat.’

In a study released today in The Journals of Gerontology, Series B: Psychological and Social Sciences, researchers found that people who indulged in frequent, regular sexual activity scored higher on a swath of mental tests.

Their verbal fluency was better.

Their ability to visually perceive objects was improved.

And they could judge the space between objects better.

So is it all just about picking out another potential partner from among a crowd, and then chatting them up?

The Coventry and Oxford University scientists didn’t go there.

Instead, their study builds upon research published last year which suggests sexually active adults generally score higher on cognitive tests. But that study did not examine the specific impact of the frequency of sex.

Another study, released earlier this year by the Oregon State University, found employees who were having more sex (at home) reported higher morale, greater job satisfaction and a greater sense of ‘engagement’.

It argued that the sexual ‘afterglow’ produced by sex-hormones dopamine and oxytocin lingered for up to 24 hours in both men and women. This influenced their perceptions and performance, it said.

The Coventry and Oxford researchers were looking at how regular sex influences the way we age.

Their study involved 73 people aged between 50 and 83.

“People don’t like to think that older people have sex — but we need to challenge this conception at a societal level and look at what impact sexual activity can have on those aged 50 and over, beyond the known effects on sexual health and general wellbeing,” says lead researcher Dr Hayley Wright from Coventry University.

“Every time we do another piece of research we are getting a little bit closer to understanding why this association exists at all, what the underlying mechanisms are, and whether there is a ‘cause and effect’ relationship between sexual activity and cognitive function in older people.”

The study determined how often they had engaged in sex during the past 12 months, categorised in a range from not at all through to more than once a week, and noted details on their general health and lifestyle.

The 28 men and 45 women were also given a series test normally used to measure patterns of brain function in older adults.

They are designed to measure attention, memory, fluency, language and spatial performance.

Those reporting the highest level of sexual activity — more than once a week — scored the best.

And the most notable difference was in their verbal abilities.

The couple first met 28 years ago on a blind date in Chicago that was set up by a mutual acquaintance.

“It was 1989. We were only 24,” says Amy. “I had precisely zero expectations about this going anywhere. But when he knocked on the door of my little frame house, I thought, ‘Uh-oh, there is something highly likable about this person.’”

She goes on to describe her husband as “5-foot-10, 160 pounds, with salt-and-pepper hair and hazel eyes”.

Amy says that Jason is a sharp dresser, a good chef, an enthusiastic concert-goer, a compassionate father, an artist as well as a lawyer, and a very caring husband.

The Indian police officer is being praised after he stopped a presidential convoy in traffic so an approaching ambulance could pass.ML’s Nijalingappa was directing traffic in Bengaluru’s Trinity Circle on Saturday when President Pranab Mukherjee’s automotive convoy started approaching. The good news network reports.

The president was reportedly in town for the inauguration of the Metro’s Green Line.

The police sub-inspector was about to let the convoy pass when he spotted an ambulance attempting to make its way through traffic.

The cop then halted the convoy in favor of letting the ambulance pass.Though the gesture may not seem like that big of a deal, the Indian Express emphasizes that Indian police officers are often pressured to give politicians and bureaucrats special treatment at the risk of their careers and livelihoods.

One Twitter user said: “… in the Indian context, this is HUGE decision for a policeman to make… [and it] must be recognized and encouraged.”

The Commissioner of Police, Praveen Sood, responded to the Tweet, saying that the traffic cop’s brave gesture is indeed something to be hailed – and rewarded.

“I agree. It’s not simple as it appears. Situation in field is complicated than it appears. Consequences can be either way!” said Soon.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Nasa) has revealed 10 new rocky, Earth-sized planets that could potentially have liquid water and support life.

The Kepler mission team released a survey of 219 potential exoplanets — planets outside of our solar system — that had been detected by the space observatory launched in 2009 to scan the Milky Way galaxy.

Ten of the new discoveries were orbiting their suns at a distance similar to Earth’s orbit around the sun, the so-called habitable zone that could potentially have liquid water and sustain life.

Kepler has already discovered 4,034 potential exoplanets, 2,335 of which have been confirmed by other telescopes as actual planets.

The 10 new Earth-size planets bring the total to 50 that exist in habitable zones around the galaxy.

NEW PLANETS

“This carefully-measured catalogue is the foundation for directly answering one of astronomy’s most compelling questions — how many planets like our Earth are in the galaxy?” said Susan Thompson, a Kepler research scientist and lead author of the latest study.

The latest findings were released at the Fourth Kepler and K2 science conference being held this week at Nasa’s Ames research centre in California.

The Kepler telescope detects the presence of planets by registering minuscule drops in a star’s brightness that occurs when a planet crosses in front of it, a movement known as a transit.

The findings were compiled from data gathered during the first four years of the mission, which scientists processed to determine the size and composition of the planets observed.

The scientists found that the newly discovered planets tended to fall into two distinct categories — smaller, rocky planets that are usually around 75 percent bigger than Earth, and much larger, gaseous planets similar in size to Neptune.

An evil pair who force fed a man his own testicle as they tortured him to death are facing life behind bars. Mirror UK reports

Vulnerable Jimmy Prout, 43, suffered a ‘Dark Ages’ campaign of abuse by killers Zahid Zaman, 43, and Ann Corbett, 26, who have been found guilty of his murder.

Their accomplices Myra Wood, 49, and Kay Rayworth, 55, were also found guilty of causing or allowing the death of a vulnerable adult after a row over money.

He also had teeth removed by a hammer and chisel, and was forced to engage in ‘degrading’ sex with a dog before his mutilated body was taken in a wheelchair to wasteground 100m from the home he shared with Wood and Corbett in North Tyneside.

CCTV shown to the jury showed Corbett pushing Prout in the back to get him to the house shared by Zaman and Rayworth on the same road, in the days before he was allegedly murdered.

Images taken from the same camera later show all four accompanying Prout in the hours before they are alleged to have killed him.

They dumped him on wasteland where his body was not discovered for weeks, Newcastle crown court heard.

Corbett and Rayworth returned to his decomposing body to get his cash point card and ‘fleece’ him even while he was dead, Mr Greaveny said.

He told the jury: “Awfully, on one occasion, Jimmy Prout’s scrotum was sliced open and his testicle was removed; he was then forced to eat it.

“His teeth were removed with a hammer and chisel and he was forced to submit to intercourse with a dog. Over a period of time, he was not just mistreated, he was tortured.

“The four defendants took part in that violence against him, either inflicting injuries directly or assisting or encouraging the other members of the group to do so. In the end, this conduct was to cause the death of Jimmy Prout.”

In 2015, Jimmy was becoming ‘a focus for Zahid Zaman’s anger’ over the alleged theft of £300 by a mutual friend, said Mr Greaney.

Authorities in Mozambique say bald men are being killed, allegedly because of the belief that their heads contain gold.

So far five bald men have been killed, all in central Mozambique: two in May in Milange district close to the border with Malawi and three this month in the district of Morrumbala.


Bald men across the country are afraid of exposing their scalps. Some stay indoors. Others hide their baldness with caps.

During his regular press briefing this week in Maputo, Inacio Dina, spokesman for Mozambique’s general police command, said the phenomenon was new to the country. He threatened to take tough measures against those involved.

“Our preliminary conclusion indicates that the phenomenon is due to cultural beliefs,” he stated. “We are currently investigating the case to find out more and to understand the dimension of the problem. The phenomenon can lead bald people to be pursued and killed. This is a serious homicide crime. Our current interest is to catch and hold all those involved responsible.”

Dina accused traditional healers of conniving with the murderers of bald people because of the cultural belief that their heads contain gold. It is also possible that the goal is to obtain body parts to use in rituals aimed at bringing wealth — the reason that albinos have been targeted for their body parts in some countries.

The story of my relationship with my father is a fleeting one tinged with gloom. You see, I knew him for a very short time.

I lived most of my life not knowing who he was, in the flesh, even though his name had been mentioned occasionally, but usually in hushed tones, by my kin.

I did not understand why we did not live together.

I lived with my maternal grandfather, who was an ardent newspaper reader.

Hardly a day ever went by without him buying the newspaper.

“Here you go, spruce up your knowledge of English and current issues,” he would say while offering me the papers.

And I did exactly that for the period that I lived with him though I would usually find myself drawn to the colourful magazine pullouts in the dailies.

This, however, slowly developed my interest in all that is newsworthy and I soon started gaining an interest in the other sections of the dailies.

One day, while we were watching a television programme, a family member pointed my father out on TV; “He’s a journalist, you know!” she said, as though it was my cue take some form of action.

And the desire to meet him incessantly grew all of a sudden.

We shared something, I guess, despite the apparent unfamiliarity between us; we both had something about newspapers and news, I supposed. I needed to feel like we had a bond.

Fast-forward to many years down the line, I followed the footsteps of my father and pursued a course in journalism. Perhaps I was just seeking to bond with him.

I was an adult when we met so we shed no tears for a lost past. A bond and connection, however, quickly flourished.

He soon picked up from where my grandfather seemingly left, but then did so much more in instilling into me knowledge on contemporary issues.

He seemed to possess the knowledge and answers to all the questions that not only I asked, but also those that others wanted to know.

TAUGHT ME TO READ WIDELY

He zealously strived to introduce me to both the basic and complex concepts that a career in journalism entailed, encouraging me to read, read and read more, on everything. And to never disregard even the tiny details of what I encounter.

I fondly recollect, when I had just joined university and during school holidays, he would make me go to the library, and part of my then silly naivety wondered why I had to spend an entire day in a “boring” library.

A man has been jailed for less than two years after he bit a large chunk out of another man’s nose.

Daniel Skinner was jailed for 20 months after admitting GBH on Liam Love, 27, at the Friary pub, Grimsby, in a row over money, Metro UK reports

The pair did not know one another and Mr Love has hit out at the sentence saying he feels that he looks ‘bloody hideous’.

Mr Love said: ‘I don’t feel human. I feel horrible. I am in constant pain all day and every day. I feel depressed and anxious about the way I look.

‘I don’t feel human. I feel monstrous. I don’t like people staring at me.’

Liam has quit his job because of the incident and now does not like going out in public.

He added: ‘What’s a 20 month sentence when I have to look like an idiot for the rest of my life? Really?

‘People will always be asking me questions – literally one bite across my nose has changed my life.

‘I don’t want to go out anymore, I don’t want to see anyone. I just used to cry all of the time.’

Mr Love said he was having a drink when he met Skinner for the first time at The Friary on December 15 last year and they got on.

But as the evening progressed the 27-year-old victim claimed that Skinner starting asking him for drugs and then accused him of owing him £200.

LYING Jemma Beale, 25, made false rape and assault claims against 15 different men — and sent an innocent man to jail for seven years, a court was told.

According to an exclusive report by The Sun, Beale made allegations over three years but they were “grotesque inventions”, jurors heard.

She claimed she was attacked at a pub and outside her home, and gang raped in the street.

Beale said she was raped by nine men and sexually assaulted by six. All but one were strangers.

Beale’s first allegation was against Mahad Cassim, who had given her a lift home after a night out. He was charged with rape and jailed for seven years.

But prosecutor John Price QC said: “That was a wrongful conviction. Mahad Cassim was innocent.

Beale’s allegations included an attack outside a pub, another outside her home and an incident of gang rape in the street.
“The person responsible for the grave injustice was the defendant, through her false allegation and perjured evidence. She maintains that falsity still.”

Mr Price said it was “inherently improbable” Beale was attacked so many times and so frequently.

He added: “Each of her reports was entirely false.”

In July 2012 Beale claimed she was sexually assaulted by four men with a piece of barbed wire in an alley.

But jurors were shown CCTV of her walking home alone that night. Her injuries were self-inflicted, the court was told.

In September 2013 Beale reported a sex assault by two men outside her home. Neither was ever identified.

Two months later, she reported a gang rape by eight men.

One of those she identified, Luke Williams, was held on bail for two years.

The person responsible for the grave injustice was the defendant, through her false allegation and perjured evidence. She maintains that falsity still

Mr Williams yesterday told how Beale had invited him to have sex with her at a party while her girlfriend was downstairs.

He said: “I felt uncomfortable. I didn’t want her to feel rejected but I really didn’t find her attractive.”

The trial at Southwark crown court continues.

Nine-year-old Olivia Hummel walked into a room where her brothers and dad were early Saturday evening, when he told them, “See? Don’t play with guns,” authorities said.

According to Chicago Tribune, Just then, her father inadvertently shot Olivia once in the head, according to court records and Hobart Lt. James Gonzales. She died less than a half-hour later, authorities said.

Eric Hummel, 33, was charged Monday with neglect of a dependent resulting in death, battery resulting in death to a person less than 14 years old, reckless homicide, and two counts of neglect of a dependent, all felonies, Lake County court records show.

Investigations into the death of a child are “always extremely difficult,” but “this was not just another accidental discharge of a firearm,” Hobart Police Chief Richard Zormier said at a Monday afternoon press conference.

“I believe this was a series of heinous and depraved acts committed by a suspect on June the 10th. His actions that day endangered the lives of all three children and ultimately stole the life of Olivia, an innocent 9-year-old little girl,” Zormier said. “His actions caused the death of Olivia and likely scarred the boys emotionally for life.”

Police were called around 5 p.m. Saturday to the home in the 100 block of East 10th Street in Hobart, Gonzales said.

An officer was directed upstairs, where he found Eric Hummel kneeling next to his daughter, who was lying in a bedroom doorway, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in court.”She’s dead, she’s dead. I thought it was empty,” Hummell told the officer, according to the affidavit.

He told the officer, “I was showing the boys the gun and told them not to ever play with it because it can kill someone. Then she walked in the room and I pointed it at her and pulled the trigger, thinking it was empty,” the affidavit states.

The officer began chest compressions before Olivia was transported to St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart where she was pronounced dead at 5:25 p.m., according to court records.

Olivia’s death was ruled a homicide after an autopsy Monday morning at the Lake County Coroner’s Office, Gonzales said. She had been shot once in the head, from about 2 to 3 feet away, Gonzales said.

A man accused of posting blasphemous content to Facebook has been sentenced to death by a court in Pakistan, BBC reports

Taimoor Raza was convicted after allegedly posting remarks about the Prophet Muhammad, his wives and companions within the site’s comments.

The public prosecutor involved said he believed it was the first time the death penalty had been awarded in a case related to social media.

Human rights campaigners have expressed concern.

Facebook itself has yet to comment on the case.

The US firm previously announced in March that it was deploying a team to Pakistan to address the government’s concerns about blasphemous content on its service, but added that it still wished to protect “the privacy and rights” of its members.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has described blasphemy as being an “unpardonable offence”.

When he died, Walt Disney left behind a multi-million dollar franchise. But one small note changed everything.

There’s no question that Walt Disney’s life changed the world. As the mastermind behind Mickey Mouse and the entire Disney enterprise, his life’s work has inspired children and adults alike for decades. And when he passed away due to lung cancer in 1966, the world truly lost one of the greats.

However, Disney made an impact in another (little-known) way, as well. Legend has it that he wrote one last message before being hospitalized prior to his death, says Disney historian Jim Korkis. Titled “TV Projects In Production: Ready for Production or Possible for Escalation and Story,” the note listed four names: Ron Miller, 2 Way Down Cellar, Kurt Russell, and CIA—Mobley.

Still, the note’s true meaning remained a mystery for decades. What did Disney’s last message to the world intend to convey?

According to former Disney archivist Dave Smith, who found the note, Disney was listing possible future projects for his franchise. And one name stood out: Kurt Russell’s.

Disney had expressed his awe of the 15-year-old’s talent before, praising him on television and personally ensuring that the boy received a studio contract. In October 1966, just months before his death, Disney even predicted “a great acting future” for Russell. But ultimately, it was Disney’s last words that ended up launching Russell’s career as an actor.

Russell confirmed this suspicion in a 2013 episode of The View. “I assume, as [does] everybody else, that he was talking about some movie that he was thinking about having me in… I don’t know what to make of it other than that,” Russell said.

An eight-year-old child died on Sunday in Bumula, Bungoma County of Kenya, when his mother left him in a locked car.

The woman and her lover are said to have gone to a hotel room near Mateka market and left the child in the vehicle without the engine running.

Mateka location Chief Julius Barasa said the woman was identified as Christine Nasimiyu.

“They left him with three bottles of soda but the baby died due to lack of fresh air,” said the chief.

Police rescued the couple from an angry mob seeking to lynch them.

The two were arrested and taken to the Bumula Police Station while the body of the boy was taken to the Bungoma County Referral Hospital mortuary.

Joseph Lupao, a children’s welfare officer, condemned the two for abandoning the child in the car.

“This is absurd and very wrong – a child has died due to carelessness. They should be charged in court,” he said.

A 22-year old Singaporean man is receiving counselling after he unknowingly slept with his own mother at a Geylang brothel late last week. According to reports by local media, which was carried by Press Union, the man was adopted out at birth and had never met his mother in person – until now.

The man told reporters about the painful experience, which occurred at an unnamed brothel in Geylang. The man’s story centered on the fact that he’d been put up for adoption as an infant after his mother gave birth at the age of 18. “Her parents didn’t want her life to be ruined by having a child at such a young age, so they forced her to put me up for adoption,” he explained.

The man never had the opportunity to meet his mother, but she did leave a letter with his foster parents that contained a photo of her, taken shortly before giving birth. “I was given the envelope when I turned 18,” he said. “She explained in a heartfelt letter why she had to put me up for adoption, and she apologised that we would never have a chance to meet in person.”

The man said he spent many hours studying the photo of his biological mother. “It showed a young, carefree woman in the prime of her life,” he said. He showed the photo to reporters, and it depicted his mother on the beach wearing a bikini. On her lower back, a small tattoo of a dragon was visible. It was this tattoo that would later prove crucial in the man identifying his mother.

Several years after he read her letter, the man was visiting a brothel in Geylang when he encountered an older woman. “I’ve always been attracted to mature women,” he admitted. “This woman in particular had something special about her; she almost felt familiar but I couldn’t put my finger on where I’d seen her before.”

The man asked the brothel’s mamasan about the older woman and was told that she was available. The pair retreated to a room and began to have intercourse, which the man described as the best of his life. “We started off in the missionary position, and I was about to come,” he told reporters, “so I said to her, ‘let’s do it from behind,’ and I pulled out just in time.”

As the woman turned around, the man told reporters that he felt his heart stop beating as he saw the familiar tattoo of a dragon on her lower back. “I just froze in shock,” he said. “It was at that moment I realized I’d just been [making love] to my own mother.”

The man broke down in tears and his mother was initially confused, before it also dawned on her that she’d been sleeping with her son. Soon she was also crying, which prompted the concerned brothel manager to burst into the room. “When we told the boss our story, she also started crying,” he said.

A 34-year old man from Singapore has broken a long-standing world record by successfully having intercourse with 57 different women within a 24 hour period. The record was set in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, as part of an annual event run by a local brothel.

The man, who was not named by local Czech media, told reporters that he had been training hard for a period of months and was delighted to have broken the previous record, which stood at 55.

“I’ve always been a bit of a sex addict, and when I learned that the brothel was having a world record attempt I knew I had to come and give it a go,” he said. “I take it really seriously and train for it just like an athlete would prepare for a marathon. In some ways, it’s actually much harder than a lot of professional sports.”

The world record attempt began at midnight local time, with officials looking on as the man commenced intercourse with his first partner. “For the world record to count, every woman I slept with had to be different, so the venue had to hire a number of girls from other brothels.”

As part of the conditions attached to the world record, no challenger is allowed to take any prescription medicine to enhance their erection, and the Singaporean man passed a test to reveal his system was clear of such medication. “Natural remedies are permitted, but I won’t disclose what supplements I take,” he said.

In addition, for each individual session of intercourse to count, the participant must ejaculate more than 5ml of semen. The record officials were on hand to dutifully measure the amount of fluid ejaculated by the man at the end of each session. “It’s not the most sought-after job, but we find it rewarding in our own way,” said one of the judges involved.

The previous record holder, an American porn actor, slept with 55 women within a single 24 hour period back in 1983 as a promotional stunt for a new film release. Kenya leading opposition party NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga has asked for his bodyguards to be increased from 16 to 50, but Police IG Joseph Boinnet has rejected the request

Besides the security personnel, Raila has also asked the government to provide him with 11 new cars.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has about 100 police officers from the elite Recce Squad of the paramilitary General Service Unit. His Deputy William Ruto is also guarded by the same elite unit, and has about 50 police officers attached to him.

In a letter to the IG dated May 23, Raila, through his Spokesman Dennis Onyango, asked that his security detail be expanded because those guarding him are 'under strength'.

Raila wants one officer in the rank of Superintendent, one Chief Inspector, two Inspectors, two Sergeants, four Corporals, and 24 Police Constables. He has also asked for one Mercedes Benz, four four-wheel-drive vehicles and six saloon cars.

“Of the six saloon cars, two will be assigned to chase cars (one front and one rear), two will be in the advance team, one will be in Nairobi for use in the deployment of officers and the other to remain in Nairobi for escort on his return when he flies out.

“Of the four 4WD vehicles, one will be in the convoy for Hon Odinga’s use, one in the advance team and one to wait in Nairobi to receive him on return when he flies," said Raila's team in the letter.

The 16 constables, who are not drivers, according to Raila, will be deployed to provide security to his homes in Nairobi, Kisumu, Bondo and his private office on Capitol Hill, Nairobi.

“The need to have an officer of the rank of Superintendent as in-charge of the detachment is to create effective supervision and discipline in the team as well as proper liaison with the police establishment for administrative and operational matters. This will include accountability and timely processing of the officers’ travel allowances when they travel outside their stations. The officer will be deputized by the Chief Inspector. The two Inspectors to be each in-charge of the escort teams (one immediate and the other advance),” said Raila.
