Former governor of Anambra State and Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC, Orji Uzor Kalu has told the Punch Newspaper in an interview that the leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu who has been declared missing by his lawyer and associate is not missing.


Kalu said close family members of Nnamdi Kanu told him he had left the country and is now in London, United Kingdom.


“Kanu was not taken away by the military. Kanu went to Malaysia from where he travelled to the United Kingdom. Nnamdi Kanu is in London right now as we speak. He was not arrested by anybody.



“He left the country on his own. One of his relations has spoken to me and explained everything because I wanted to see him and talk to him wherever he was and see how I could meet some Federal Government officials on his issue. I also wanted to see ways of talking to the President about him, and find common ground but his family told me that he has left the country, unless they are lying to me.



“I believe, whether he had left the country or not, he is not with the military because I asked the Commander of the 14 Brigade, Brig.-Gen. A.K Ibrahim, who is a very fine and good soldier, well educated and dedicated, and he told me that they don’t know his whereabouts and I am sure, the Department of State Services have the same information.

When inyanga Nino Mbatha walked into the Estcourt police station last weekend, officers wondered why he smelt so bad.

"He reeked of something," an officer told the Sunday Times this week.

The officer, who was an acquaintance of the well-known traditional healer, said policemen were not immediately sure what the smell was as Mbatha walked up to the desk at about 6pm on Friday.

They would find out in grisly fashion. In the bag Mbatha carried were putrid body parts - a piece of a leg and a hand.

"He said he was coming to report that he was tired of being made to eat human flesh and wanted out," said one of a group of officers close to the investigation.

"He produced these putrid limbs and some colleagues ran off."

This stomach-churning interaction led to the uncovering of a deep, dark secret in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands town. If police, community members and even the mayor are to be believed, people in Estcourt have been eating human flesh as part of a saga involving body parts for muti.

Five men have been arrested on charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder, and for the possession of human body parts. The men - Mbatha, Lungisani Magubane, Khayo Lamula, Mgabadeli Masondo and Jobe Sithole - will appear in court tomorrow for a bail application.

Police believe that in at least one case the body parts came from a woman who was murdered by the men. The Sunday Times has established that at least three graves were dug up in June. Two of the desecrated graves are in the town's Forderville Cemetery, while the other is in a traditional burial site.

When the Sunday Times visited the area this week, it found a community shaken to its core.

When night falls in Estcourt and its surrounding rural villages, residents hurry indoors. Only those who work late shifts or who absolutely have to be are on the streets - and they are usually walking hastily to get to the safety of their homes.

Husbands or wives in Uganda who have sexual intercourse with their spouses without consent could be imprisoned for five years.

The new Marriage Bill criminalizes sexual intercourse by a husband or wife without the consent of their spouse, and prescribes a punishment by a fine not exceeding one hundred and twenty currency points or a jail term not above five years or both.

The Bill establishes “reasonable” grounds for a husband or wife to deny their spouse sex, including poor health, surgery, child birth and reasonable fear that engaging in sexual activity can cause physical or psychological harm.

“Where a spouse has sexual intercourse with the other against their consent…, the Act establishes criminal liability and shall be punishable, on conviction, by a fine not exceeding one hundred and twenty currency points or imprisonment not exceeding five years or both,” the Bill states.

The proposed piece of legislation is a revised version of the touchy Marriage and Divorce Bill 2009 that has previously been discussed in Parliament, but not passed due to its contentious provisions on cohabitation and dissolution of matrimonial unions.

The review process, which was undertaken by Uganda Law Reform Commission (ULRC), has seen the word divorce removed from the name of the Bill, but most of the proposals in the original piece of legislation have been retained in the new draft ULRC is set to present before the House for debate.

The contentious clauses that would have made it mandatory for cohabiting partners to share property acquired during (cohabitation) have been removed.

The Bill however permits divorce under certain conditions.

It was presented by ULRC in Kampala on Tuesday to representatives of government and private institutions.

Representative government and private institutions are expected to submit detailed memoranda containing more proposals to further refine the Bill in few weeks’ time.

Katie Price has claimed that she might hire a prostitute to have sex with her son Harvey when he turns 18 but is unsure of how much he should experience.

The 39-year-old former glamour model’s oldest son – her child with retired soccer player Dwight Yorke – is now 15 and suffers with multiple disabilities including autism, partial-sight and Prader-Willi syndrome.

Since he started puberty, Katie has been wondering what will happen in his romantic life and whether or not she should introduce sex to him and during a discussion with Kieran the pair did talk about whether it would be a good idea to hire a woman to take his virginity when he reaches adulthood, Metro UK reports.

Katie made her confession during a panel discussion on Loose Women with author Kathy Lette and her autistic son Jules Robertson, whom she contemplated hiring a prostitute for when he was 20 because he couldn’t find a girlfriend.

Talking directly to Kathy, mother-of-five Katie said: ‘My son Harvey has got autism and he’s now 15 and naturally at 15 you go through puberty and it’s natural to experiment with yourself. I had read what you said you would do.

‘Your son is high functioning with autism but Harvey is the different end of spectrum, so is it fair for him to experience it (sex)? “We sort of joked about it, and Kieran said, ‘Shall we get him a prostitute for his 18th birthday? For me, that’s my little Harvey and he hasn’t got a clue about those things, but what do you do?‘Should you bring it on, I don’t know in my situation, what should I do? Do I leave it or should I let him experience it (sex)?’

Kathy then answered: ‘I think you wait and see if he’s angst ridden about it and if it’s an issue for him. And for Jules it really was.’

During the discussion, Loose Women was momentarily hampered by ‘technical difficulties’ and taken off air for a brief moment.

A 55-year-old woman was shot dead by her her 60-year old husband allegedly over delay in serving dinner.

Ashok Kumar, 60, returned drunk to his home in Ghaziabad, near Delhi and demanded food from his wife, Sunaina.

When the wife refused to serve him immediately, a fight broke out between the couple, their son is said to have told police.

Mr Kumar became “infuriated” at the delay, his son Rinku, 32, told The Times of India, adding that he had threatened her with the gun before shooting her.

Ms Kumar was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Authorities said Mr Kumar had confessed to the shooting after his arrest.

Rinku told the newspaper that his children were asleep in the other room.

“Around 9pm, my father returned home drunk and asked my mother for dinner around 11pm. A quarrel broke out between them as my mother refused to serve food immediately,” he said.

“Infuriated over the delay, my father whipped out a gun and threatened her. I, my wife and [my brother] Tinku tried to intervene. But he opened fire and the bullet hit my mother on her head. She collapsed at the spot.”

Police officer Rupesh Singh told the BBC that Mr Kumar “used to drink every day” and his wife had wanted to talk to him about his habit, but “he wanted dinner immediately”.

Mr Kumar has confessed to his crime and now regrets his actions, Mr Singh said.

The couple Kirsten Larson and Wesley Smith were married in 2006. According to Larson “after eight years of happy marriage, the relationship crumbled when Smith landed a new job”

Larson is suing his devoted husband for $42,000 in damages for intentional infliction of emotional distress, counselling and costs of moving out their Manhattan home, Daily Mail reports.

Her lawsuit alleges that Smith ‘made life in the home a cold, unfriendly and unhealthy a place as possible’

She claims that a Manhattan lifestyle corrupted her doting computer programmer husband, the New York post reports

Her husband was loving and caring but she says that everything changed after he landed a job at internet startup Button in Manhattan, in 2014, she claimed in a Staten Island Supreme Court lawsuit filed against Smith

Larson says that as her husband’s career took off, their marriage crumbled.
Her lawsuit alleges that Smith was lured by the ‘Manhattan lifestyle’ of his single colleagues. But for that, he had to get rid of his wife.
The lawsuit alleged that Smith launched a ‘most dastardly, improper and dishonorable’ effort to get Larson to leave him.

According to Larson, Smith forced her to move to Manhattan, where she said she was separated from her friends and family in Long Island, and Smith spent all his time with his new friends from his tech firm Button.

She says that he also started a campaign of of mental abuse to wear her down, calling her a ‘failure’, telling her she’d never progressed in life, ‘in his effort to get Kirsten to leave the relationship, defendant made life in the home a cold, unfriendly and unhealthy a place as possible.’

The family are no strangers to lawsuits.
Last year, Larson’s father sued Smith for more than $100,000 on claims that he paid for the couple’s mortgage payments, car and home improvements, while Smith then filed his own $6 million countersuit arguing he’d never asked for help and Mr Larson was simply bitter about how he treated his daughter.

Smith did not respond to reporters’ request for comments.

Hayden Cross, 21, made headlines around the world when he announced he was pregnant by a sperm donor, three years after becoming legally male through gender reassignment.
He put his transition on hold to have a child, Independent UK reports.

His daughter Trinity-Leigh was born by caesarean on 16 June, his family confirmed. It makes Mr Cross, from Gloucester, the first transgender man to give birth in the UK.

“She’s perfect in every way,” he told The Sun.
He now plans to complete his gender reassignment to remove his breasts and ovaries.

Mr Cross, who was born Paige, had applied to have his eggs frozen on the NHS in the hope he would be able to have children in the future. But when he was refused, he found an anonymous donor through a Facebook group and put his transition on hold.

“Having a biological child has always meant a lot to me,” he said earlier this year. “I’ve always wanted kids.”

His daughter was born at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. Her birth was registered at Gloucester Register Office on Wednesday, with Mr Cross listed as mother but no father named.

He received death threats after news of his pregnancy broke.

“I have had some good reactions but I’ve had some really bad reactions,” Mr Cross told TV host Lorraine Kelly.

“A lot of people don’t really understand the situation, and I get that, but I just want people to be more aware that there are those who do need help, that are like me, and haven’t got anybody to support them.”
