Rock247: Good Morning Everyone,
Please I have been trying to book an appointment for Biometrics to no avail. It's showing "no available slots for applicant". I tried calling their number but it is switched off. I tried most options available on the vfs site but none worked.
Is there any other person experiencing this? and is there a solution or any other way to contact them about the biometrics? I am seeing September 2021..... Shouldn't it be 2020? |

Good evening guys,
I do not mean to discourage anyone here, but If your eligibility review has been ongoing for weeks and you are yet to receive any update from IRCC, chances are that you have been denied. So far IRCC has not been able to communicate a refusal to all those with pending biometrics ( as at the time of eligibility review).
I applied for study permit on the 17th of June. My eligibility review started on the 17th of July exactly on month later and has been like that up till this moment. However, I applied for my GCMS notes earlier this month and when the notes came in, I discovered that a decision (eligibility review FAILED) was MADE on my application on the 18th of July (a day after eligibility review started.)
BOTTOMLINE: IRCC have only been able to communicate those that scaled through the first stage of review (AIP). Unfortunatlely, those that failed are yet to be communicated. |

Esom16: Goodevening. Hope you all are good. Firstly, I have tried booking the Abuja office online for my medicals but its still not going through. I have emailed as well but no reply. Please how else do I go about it. Secondly, please who knows the VAC office in Abuja. I'm confused.. Is it Silverbird Entertainment Centre, 1161 Memorial Drive, Central Business District, Abuja or Sterling Bank Plaza, 3rd Floor, Plot 1083 Mohammadu Buhari Way, Central Business District 900211, Abuja. Thank you. Sterling bank plaza. |

Pee2Jay9: Wow.! So if u didn't request for the notes, you wouldn't have known all these? I'm guessing that they're post poning refusals for a set future date.. Pls what was showing on your application before you ordered for the GCMS notes? Was background and eligibility still running at the time? Background and eligibility still running. Infact, the note made by the VO on my application is on the screenshot below;

Hello guys!
I applied for my Study permit on the 16th of June and didn't get any update on my application until I ordered for my GCMS notes 15 days ago.
I just received the notes now to discover that I FAILED the eligibility review done on the 17th of July, 2020.
Part of the reasons for the denial includes ; no travel history and inadequate funds, weak family ties.
I acknowledge that I do not have any travel history and was single when I did the application (married now though). I will defer my admission and use the next 6 months to get travel experience and increase my POF and then reapply again. Unfortunately, my course can only be started in the fall term, so I will be defering to Fall 2021.
I am pained but not discouraged. We will do this once again.
I am grateful to everyone for the knowledge I have gotten from this forum. |

Much Ado about nothing!
I have seen the argument for and against starting online classes with AIP and I think we are just too hard on ourselves.
IRCC has been very clear and unambiguous about this. Study permit applications will go through two stages; eligibility check and admisibility check
In the eligibility review, IRCC will confirm you actually got an admission with a DLI, that you are a genuine student, have enough money to take care of your studies and have enough home ties to ensure you return after studies.
The admissibility is where security checks are conducted ( e.g - your fingerprints are shared with the Canada Border Services Agency to see if you have violated any immigration rules before.) It is also in this stage that your medicals is evaluated to ascertain if you will be a huge risk and burden to the Canadian health system.
Bottomline, is that if you do not have criminal records and no serious health challenges, you are 100% sure of getting the final approval.
You don't except IRCC to give you a 100% guarantee of getting final approval when they cannot confirm yet that you are not a criminal and that you don't have a serious health issue.
Congratulations to everyone who has received the AIP.
I am honestly praying that I receive mine soon. |

Luckymama: Hmmm I initially typed congratulations until I saw your second post that they have not completed your eligibility and background check.
Are these people bringing another new style again? Why send medical request when eligibility review is not completed?
Anyway let us just be hoping and praying for the best. I guess its an issue with 'updating of account'. It's possible that the eligibility review has been completed but not updated on the account. |

Insanity: I wasn't expcting this, I applied on 05 July 2020, received biometric request letter on 06 July 2020. I received Medical Examination Instruction letter today, 24 July 2020. When I saw the mail this morning, I thought I have been denied, I avoided my account till I couldn't hold it anymore I had to check. I just applied 19 days ago, and my admission is for Winter 2021, I am hoping and praying this ends well.
Goodluck everyone!! Congrats in advance. When did your eligibility review start? |

ericksen: Hi guys, I just got a message from cic asking me to go for Medicals. Mind you I’ve not done my biometrics. I am kinda confused, is it not supposed to be the other way round? Submitted my application 2nd week of May. Congratulations in advance! You don’t need to be surprised, the new regulations from IRCC is that applications will be processed without Biometrics and a temporary approval will be given pending when you are able to submit your biometrics. With this temporary approval you can start your online classes. |

lighthousearc: Great news but there's an important note.
"It is important for prospective students to note that commencing their studies online from abroad following approval-in-principle of a study permit application is not a guarantee that they will receive a full approval of their study permit application, or be authorized to pursue their studies in Canada. It is still possible that an applicant could receive a negative final decision on their study permit based on factors such as inadmissibility for criminality or security reasons, and the inability to predict how the COVID-19 situation and any associated travel restrictions will evolve." If you don’t have a criminal record or serious medical issue then you don’t have an issue with the admissibility ✌️ |

This is GREAT news from IRCC. I knew they were on working on something.
You will get two approvals.
One after eligibility has been concluded and passed and the second after biometrics, medicals, etc. |

lighthousearc: Hi Nairalanders, i will advise everyone to pause/ stop fresh student applications for now. There's a 80% - 90% chance you will be rejected. This is not new and it has nothing to do with the Pandemic. According to Data from IRCC between Jan and May 2019, 81% of study permit applications from Nigeria were rejected and the number keeps increasing yearly. Three things are primarily responsible for this. 1. The increasing number of applicants every year. 2. The activities of Nigerians in Canada who do not keep to the terms of their study permit. 3. Increasing incidents of forgery in documents tendered for Visa application. You can only do your best not be part of these statistics. |

Jermaineayo: I'm serious great one. What's the cost like...By stressful, what do you mean please? You cant get a direct bus from Lagos to Ghana currently. From Lagos to Benin Republic border through badagry. Once you get to the border, you cross over with bike and then continue your journey until you get to Benin-Togo border which is where you stop and then cross over before and then getting another bus to Togo-Ghana border. I am guessing that you will spend a lot of money at these borders. |
