ACADEMIC City College, a private university in Accra, Ghana, has offered scholarship worth $40,000 to Ekene Franklin Ezeunala, the candidate who scored 347 – the highest score – in the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The College Senior Admissions Manager (Nigeria), Mrs Ogechi Ekpe, said on the sidelines of a workshop organised by the institution for schools and parents at the Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, at the weekend that the scholarship would cover tuition and boarding for the duration of his programme at the university. We have a full scholarship for Ekene. He was supposed to be here today (Friday) but we did not talk about the scholarship today because he was not here. We were to present a scholarship of $40,000 to the boy from year one till he graduates,” she said. When asked how Ekene would be informed about the scholarship since he was not at the event, Mrs Ekpe said: “We were hoping he would be here today so our President can give him the award. The school is here now. We have to go there and see if we can either take him to Ghana or get our President to come again and give him the scholarship. The scholarship is for real. It is called the Presidential Scholarship so the school pays everything including the hostel fees.” Ekene, who turns 15 today (Monday), is below 16, the minimum age benchmark to gain admission into his preferred choice – the University of Lagos (UNILAG). The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), also stipulates 16 years as the minimum age for candidates to take the examination during the admission year they apply. However many private varsities in Nigeria accept students who are less than 16. Mrs. Ekpe said that Academic City College, which offers programmes in Engineering, Business, Communication Arts and Information Technology, accepts students from 15 years of age because it has system in place to monitor them. She said: “That is why we want him there. Nigerian schools won’t give him admission but we will. We start admitting from 15 which is why we have a very visible Dean of Students’ Affairs. We make sure that they go to class, especially foreign students. You cannot be in the hostel during learning hours. Dean Ruth, that is her name, she normally goes round. “There are parents that pay for their kids to be off campus but all international students must be on campus because we don’t want them to have immigration issues; we don’t want them to go off track and start doing drugs. We actually insist that in the first year at least they must be on campus.” The Ghanaian institution became the second institution to announce a full scholarship to Ekene, who just completed his West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) at Meiran Community Senior High School, Meiran, Lagos. The first was Gregory University, Uturu in Abia State. |

I read on my timeline many Nigerians who say they traveled to vote and were frustrated by the postponement and cant afford to travel again. God willing, I‘ll provide buses to and fro 4 of the geopolitical zones for such people IRRESPECTIVE of how you intend to vote. We must not allow for a low voter turnout. That must not happen. I call on other wealthy Nigerians to help facilitate a high turnout by providing #BusesForDemocracy to ALL Nigerians. God willing, I‘ll provide modalities/logistics for the buses. I wish I was rich enough to provide buses to and from all the geopolitical zones, but for now my pocket can only afford 4 zones. But if you can help, please do something. Frustrate the frustraters. I urge my Nigerian brothers and sisters who wasted money to travel and were frustrated by the postponement, not to lose heart. Watch this space on Wednesday for details of the free buses. I beg you, for the love of Nigeria, please make plans to return to vote. This is not about PDP or APC. This is about Nigeria. The buses I provide will be for any Nigerian citizen with a valid voter card. I am prepared to even ferry passengers in these buses even if they will all vote for Buhari. No one should frustrate voters. --RENO OMKRI

'Fate pushed the Resident Electoral Commissioner of the massively rigged September 22/27 Osun elections, Segun Agbaje, to attend a Public event and the good people of that dear state ensured he got served - as e dey hot, right at a funeral service. The event was the burial ceremony of another INEC REC and former Rector of Osun State Polytechnic, Dr. Timothy Ibitoye at First Baptist Church, Oke-Owode in Ikirun. Somebody had chosen Segun Agbaje to deliver a eulogy but as soon as Baba was announced, all hell broke loose. The crowd in the church (congregation doesn’t seem appropriate in this case) immediately started singing songs reserved for thieves and robbers - and Segun Agbaje turned the podium (a pulpit cannot be defiled) into another Collation Centre as he tried to explain himself. “We will make your life inconclusive today” was only one of the various threats issued against the man as the crowd began to surge forward and other INEC officers took to their heels, leaving the clergy to intervene before someone would be lynched in the House of God. Agbaje of course tried to escape - but some long-handed fellows ensured his ears touched their palms before he could flee. May this be a warning to INEC and those who conspire with them to truncate the will of the people: Your connivance with APC is an evil that’ll be resisted. Of course: my ideology is not in line with violence, maximum shishi on any public beating - but these are easily manufactured in a land where the people are tired but INEC decides to collaborate and impose a winner on them. May we all be ever guided to do the right things always. |

Number 5 also got my attention, In addition, let them know about their history so that that they can chart and determine their future, it beats my imagination how some Igbo parents don't tell their children about the Biafran War and how their fore bearers were massacared in one of the greatest genocide against in world history |
STATEMENT BY SENATOR SHEHU SANI: “My attention has been drawn to a report by an online newspaper without a defined address that I, Senator Shehu Sani and other senators plotted to impeach the senate president, Dr Bukola Saraki on Tuesday 24th 2018,” he said. “I’m not aware of such plot whether it happened or not. And If there was anything like that, it stands condemned. I can never be part of any plot to impeach the senate president because there was never reason to do so. “I enjoyed a good working relationship with Dr Saraki since 2015 till date and he has always supported and identify with me in my moments of travails and trials and I reciprocated the same to him. “He has managed the senate with experience, responsibility and maturity and always respects my views even when it differs with his. Fifthly, Senate President and Deputy Senate President Ike Ekwerenmadu have managed the Senate satisfactorily and championed and sustained its independence.” The senator said the accusations leveled against him will not work, referring to it as “cheap blackmail”. “My decision to remain in the APC or leave the party is my own choice to make in tandem with my conviction, conscience and the imperatives of the constituents and constituency I represent,” he said. “Fabrications, concoction and outright lies and blackmail aimed at me, to force me to toe a line against my conscience will not work. Using such cheap blackmail and character assassination against me will not work. “I will continue to support the leadership of Dr Saraki and Dr Ike Ekweremadu till the end of the life of the eight senate. Once again, my choice of party is my business and not that of any person.” SOURCE: THECABLE |
wristbangle:Oga its not about tax collected by the federal government the sea port management is on the exclusive list of the federal government, what we are talking about is the direct and indirect development that the business activities in these sea ports will bring to host communities. |

Yes you are right there are powerful and direct global influence backing IPOB it's called Global politics it did not start today and your govt is actually playing out their expectations, If Kanu want to be in UK tomorrow morning nothing stops him even without his international passport but he is here flaunting all the bail conditions as a bait to be rearrested. if u are a constant listener to Radio Biafra your should have heard the day he dared the Nigerian government to come and arrest him as he was due to Nigeria, he was in a company of some friends when they arrived they picked a wrong guy he then asked them whom they seek, they said Nnamdi Kalu, he to them to let the guy go that he was the one they are looking for, they could believe that such a frail looking fineboy could be capable of making such uterances on air, let's sit back and watch how that turns out. |

This is what you get when everyone wants to live in Lagos by fire by force. The number of ifesinashi buses shipping in IPOB almajiris to lagos on a daily basis is increasing by the day. These people have no economic plans in Lagos than to become traffic traders and okada riders. Once they are able to afford a room rent, they will start calling Lagos a no man's land like their mad fellows. They claim igboland has the highest mansions in the country yet they cant sit and thrive there. Their success in life is tied to Yoruba states yet they are always ungrateful and call Yoruba names at the least provocations.i support the clamp down on okada riders and fan yogo sellers. After all the population of yorubas riding okada is not up to 5%. These people must be dealt with so they can start respecting their host. The next clamp down should be on Alaba and Ladipo markets. Nonsense
