waternogetenemy:if you inferred the boldfaced from those messages up there, then you have a fish-brain (offence very much intended) "abi Linda Ikeji beg am for promotion?" Ingrate would always defend ingrate. Keep it up. |
A tale of the ingrate and the 'butthurt' |
See all the narrow, gossip-loving minds screaming 'haters'. Plagiarism is plagiarism, and shouldn't be encouraged. Gossip blogs do that all the time and tell many lies too. It doesn't matter the guy's relationship with her, she wasn't careful enough to avoid things that have the potential to ruin her. She survived it today. She ought to learn from it. Now enough of the Ikeji noise! |
Even those who teach hellfire as just and right, are trying to sound repulsed by a burning that isn't eternal. What happened to those arrested, who knows? I hate how we (Nigerians) simply lament and then go back to eating our yams. It's a pattern. |
What on earth is this 'love is/must/should be the BANE of marriage' thing you guys are saying? Hope una know wetin 'bane' mean sha. |
mamateniola1: @Icherishu i think some mothers have spoilt some of these our husbands for us. the mentality or culture of 'men dont enter kitchen, men dont do this, men dont do that' hummm, my colleagues (guys) were arguing one time in the office on whether its there job to cahnge pampers, carry or clean up babies. i told them i pity them oh. i always tell people especially we modern women that if we want to end this trend of 1million rules for the women and 1hundred rules for the men' , violence and all sort against women, then we should start with our sons. we should teach them how to carry their own plates, wash and tidy up after them and cook their indomie or whatever not waiting for the sister to come and do it for her becos she is a 'she', it wont make them less of a man, it wont reduce their manhood, it will still be intact. until then, we cant achieve much. All too often we see women complain about their marriages, so men who don't complain nearly as much must be having it very easy, bound by no unpalatable rules at all. Let's start from the root, shall we? The African man buys his wife (quote me anywhere, if you put a price on anything you are selling it). That same tradition that makes it mandatory to pay for a wife, madates the wife to do the house chores. Why chop off one branch of archaic tradition, leaving the root and other branches and claim to be modern? Growing up, how many girls washed the family car, changed the generator oil, changed the plug, cut the weed around, or did similar things? How many women can even fix an electric bulb? I know many who cannot. If things get spoilt and there's a man around, he simply does it, if not, the woman would wait. How many times have you complained about it? I know some women that would take back any money they spend on their children from the husband, to the last kobo. For them, it's his duty. Many parents teach their boys to grow up to be providers (or he isn't a real man) and girls to be spenders, thus most girls grow up to be totally dependent on the nearest guy. How many times have you complained about it? I probably can cook some meals better than most girls. I see no reason why one (male or female) shouldn't be able to prepare at least simple meals. Go to the school hostels of Nigerian universities, you'd see guys cooking their own meals, and girls who go to buka as often as any guy. Men can do those things you mentioned, but do not want their wives to stylishly turn it to their duty. You women know yourselves. Nature has defined some roles already, and the society has defined some others. How come women want traditional female roles to be shared and say nothing about sharing the ones men are supposed to shoulder? |
CoCoLav: I agree with your first paragraph. So are you saying that our parents who did not get married for love but later came to love, tolerate and understand each other are just 'lovable'?marriages then were out of duty, especially for the woman. Many marriages were polygamous. Have you observed polygamous families before? The women only grew to take solace in whatever children they have and love them to bits. The reason why divorce is common now is because it is possible and relatively very easy. It's like seeing two bird rearers with different rearing styles. Man A leaves his bird cages open and have just 6 birds in them that remain even when they can fly away. Man B has 50 birds under constant lock and key. At a glance, most people would think Man B's birds fare better cos they are many. Only a keen observer would consider the lock. Those days, divorce was only when the man is fed up with the woman even if for the most trivial of reasons and sends her packing to meet her parents. Such was shameful by societal standards, so women endured nightmarish marriages just to save face. Is that your idea of love after marriage? |
ITbomb: All men must die but those who fought valiantly, nobly and honourably will be remembered - Ser ITbombtrue, but they are still very dead, only remembered by the less valiant, less noble and less honourable who are generous enough to tell the truth. |
Ishilove: You're a virgin?? Pictures or adonbelivitproof is only for "she to whom it belongs" ![]() |
ITbomb: For people like me that reads beyond the headlines, Facebook provides the full article not some two liner that has been bend by poster to blend with his prejudice. Ok, unless you mean all those celebrity junk news bitswell said. Herd mentality is the reason behind all the twitter craze. They want to be cool by going with what's in vogue, even if it's meaningless. "I'm current if I follow celebs." and "I'm a celeb if people follow me." Shallow mindset. |
Idumose: FIXEDstill wrong. When Elisha did it, she-bears came out, not a lion. |
Sweetlemon: Those of mentioning our fore fathers, don't you know most of them just grew used o each other because they had no other choice? In those days women had little or no say about their marital happiness. So they just stomached it or learnt to dance in the rain.well said... Lizards crawl on their bellies, so it's hard to tell which one has stomach ache. |
CoCoLav: Love after marriage is actually what I want. When you love someone before marriage, you might be blinded to their flaws in the belief that love covers all. By the time you get married and the love fades then your eyes open. I want to marry someone I don't really love so my eyes will belove doesn't make one do all those. You are mixing it up. Infatuation makes one judge poorly. Lust makes one reason stupidly. Nothing makes one deaf as much as desperation to get married. All those make one blind to flaws. Those are what you should be trying to avoid. Focusing on flaws isn't new. After the excitement of wedding subsides, that's what most couples spend their time doing. They discover one and go: "oh, why didn't I see this earlier? There must be more, lemme look for them." Thus the search for flaws begin and they lose sight of what makes the partner adorable. And another marriage hits the rocks. If you can love someone after wedding, you simply got a person that is lovable, marriage or no. |

Irresponsible? Responsibility is hinged on culinary skills? Wow. So a woman that's an expert cook but who sleeps around is responsible? Well, any man that is obsessed with eating food but cannot cook, is irresponsible too. |

Well, they are right. Most Nigerians don't value human life unless it's theirs, a close friend's or a relative's. We just make noise about it and make memes and akpors jokes, then forget. There was ALUU4, the boko haram bombings, the Chibok girls... then the numerous accidental discharge by the police who should be protecting people. I don't care if SA is worse, or if they hate Nigerians. Nigeria ought to be the natural leader of Africa, and earn the respect she thinks she deserves. |
bigfrancis21: ^ I would have replied you more specifically but seeing that you chose to be rude in your reply, oh well.awww... Nice excuse. The man with a leaky roof blames the rain for the wicked plan to keep his floor wet. If you had an adequate answer, you know you'd have replied me "more specifically" [sic] You really should stop thanking yourself for your contribution, with alternate accounts. It's unhealthy. |
bigfrancis21: You see, insanity can be linked to 2 major reasons. They are:mehn... The human capacity for crap is definitely unlimited. Well done proving it. Hope you aren't expecting me to ask how you got to know all this. I've read better works of fantasy and they had fewer holes. Hope you know your epistle answered nothing? Lemme rephrase my question. Why does injury to the physical brain affect mental balance and limbic function when the soul is in the one truly in control? Please don't give me the silly predestination tale. You have no idea how contradictory that sounds. If as you say, the soul chooses what happens in his human life, then by implication, those mentioned in the op chose to get attached to earthly things and get stuck as ghosts. That makes this thread useless, as decisions have already been reached by the souls of readers before they were even born. But if people can AVOID getting attached as the op suggests, then they really were never predestined. Either way, your 'soul theory' doesn't add up. Back to my rephrased question... *waiting* |
Lol. You go fear na. Tell me op, when a person receives a severe blow to the head, suffers a head injury, and acts insane. Does this soul that "survives death" become insane too? If not, how come a person can be insane with a sane soul? Does this immortal soul not have a say in a person's emotions and actions? If yes, how can a soul that can be affected by a physical blow survive death? |
