As advised by Seun debate on Ibo Vs Igbo should be taken to a new thread in Ethnics section. Further comments on the debate on this thread will be removed. Thanks. |
@Ikenna351 I can confirm you did spoke against it and am sure you can also confirm that some Igbo saw nothing wrong with it. Reason I advised that Igbos should have a referendum on the matter, take a position and speak with one voice to the Admin. |
Dede1: You are simply talking nonsense. There have been instances where Yoruba was referred as Yoruba, according to the original Nupe formulators, and Yor.oba by most Nigerians.I am not interested in debating this, but I will like to have your evidences please, just for my own personal knowledge. Thanks. |
ACM10: Manny has already said everything. If you don't mind, can we know the executives you got a memo from? It's funny that you guys apply rules discriminatingly. Guess Yoruba representatives wrote the admin to explain to them why "Yoruba" is unacceptable?I have no power to disclose the details of the memo, but there are Igbo moderators on this forum who are aware of it. Thanks. |
manny4life: Really?Yoro-ba was never accepted by any group of Yorubas or some Yoruba individuals and never used in any publication and I doubt you will find any source outside NL where people use Yoro-ba for Yoruba. Same cannot be said In Ibo/Igbo case. Also we have no parameter to use in deciding what is Igbo majority or minority view on this, reason why I advised that Igbos should meet have an open referendum on the matter so they can speak with one voice and formally communicate their decision to Admin. Its my own personal advise not a NL directive. Thanks. |
ACM10: You are a grade one hypocrite. No need to restart the debate we had on this thread few days ago. Which of the recent Achebe's work made reference to Ibo? Why not Ohaneze Ndi Ibo instead of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo? Why can't you guys be fair for once. Why this total disregard for other people sensitivity? Ibo and Yoruba should be banned equally or be left equally. After my plead on this thread that Igbo should be used instead of Ibo, We (moderators) got a memo from one of your executives that there is nothing derogatory with the use of Ibo. Nairaland will not want to be seen as the one demonizing/derogating an acceptable name among many Igbos. We were told that there are prominent Igbo sons and daughters who refer to themselves as Ibo. If all Igbo on Nairaland think the use of Ibo is derogatory, I will advice that your representatives meet and write the Admin and give him the reasons why Ibo is unacceptable. For now Afam and I have no reason/power to delete posts with the use of Ibo or ban someone for using Ibo instead of Igbo. Thank you. |
Congratulations to the Catholics |
He is from Argentina, first South American Pope https://ncronline.org/sites/default/files/styles/article_slideshow/public/stories/images/Cardenal-Jorge-Mario-Bergoglio-Buenos_TINIMA20130219_1018_5.jpg?itok=X4Z2rbRN VATICAN CITY- Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, 76, of Argentina was announced as the new pope Wednesday after white smoke emerged from the roof of the Sistine Chapel, and the bells of St. Peter's Basilica pealed, signalling that cardinals had chosen a new pope to lead the troubled Roman Catholic Church after only five ballots. The new pope will call himself Pope Francis I. http://www.jpost.com/International/Article.aspx?id=306321 |
The Writer: I posted this in the religion section and got banned and had my topic hidden. My very firs topic on Nairaland. What a shame! You were mistakenly banned by the antispam bot. I have informed the authorities that can do something about it. Hopefully you will be unbanned shortly and your 1st post will become visible. In the meantime I have to move this thread back to Religion section. Sorry about it. |
I thought I read that his sack was as a result of pressure from "aviation stakeholders" yet another aviation stakeholders are complaining against his sack. How many aviation stakeholders do we have sef? |
Mod, please deliver PointB from the jaws of your spambot.
You have been unbanned and your post is now visible. Sorry about it. |
oddy4real: OAM4j is a very power-drunk and biased mongloid. He banned me because I abused the father of someone who insulted GEJ. What if GEJ is my father and I have to defend him?? If he would ban me for insulting the fathers of those who insult GEJ, then he should ban ALL those who insult GEJ too.I posted this for ifihearam on the complaint who experienced same thing as you and made same complaint as you OAM4J: Oga it is not against the rules of Nairaland that you promised to abide with when you registered to criticize or give an opinion on public figures that might look derogatory/insultive, but it is against the forum rules to insult another poster and his/her family.https://www.nairaland.com/938835/lets-complaints-suggestions-enquiries-here/67#14696714 |
Nairaland has no power to decide what someone should like and what he should dislike. But Nairaland will not accept any insults against another poster or against another ethnic group. E.g. It is not against the rules to post "I dont like Urhobos but I love Ijaws" but if you go further to insult Urhobos and call them names, we will hide the post and punish you. |
Dayokanu was not responding to you on the thread, he was replying Odenigbo Aroli (except you are same with Odenigbo Aroli). Also he didnt use any insultive word on Odenigbo Aroli or on you but you went on to insult him and called him names for expresing an opnion that Nigeria cant stay together forever. Your post was reported and I acted on it. I have banned Dayokanu in the past, I will not spare him if he breaks the rules. If he insults anyone or any ethnic group please report it. Let me also say, it is not against the rules to be a "tribalist" (i.e defend your ethnic group and dislike another ethnic group) but while at it do no insult another poster or another ethnic group, doing that is against the rules. Thank you. |
Afam4eva: Maybe you're right.lol Actually you are right, read my post again. He joined the Nigerian aviation ministry circa 1970s and was retired in 1995, but was brought back by OBJ in 2005. He is a very strict, no-nonsense man to the core. |
Afam4eva: I want to believe that man has been in that position since i was born. I was beginning to think that his father owned the NCAA. I don't know how much impact he has made in that agency and i guess it can't be much cos we would have seen it.Dr. Demurin is an experienced Aeronautical Engineer. He was retired in 1995 as a Director of Safety Services In NCAA because of his strict adherent to safety. Went to float Afrijet and was the MD/CEO of the cargo airline before OBJ appointed him DG NCAA after Bellview and Sosoliso Airlines crashes to restore sanity in the aviation Industry and he went on to help Nigeria attained the US CAT 1 status after those incidents. He has done well for the aviation Industry, only hope his sack was not out of flimsy excuses or caused by these so called aviation stakeholders wanting to resume their "cutting corners" as Marwa once put it. And I hope another competent person will be appointed. |
successcertain: where are the fast train? is 6 months already and a month left to the said 7 months abi na wash?Actually the contract was for the design not the actual construction. In GEJ style, a committee will be set up to review the design. Dont worry, if PDP is still in power, hopefully by 2020 the actual construction will start. |
