Wallie:
I didn’t bother reading the 17 pages of posts and I’m sure some of the answers to my questions are buried somewhere. It would be helpful if the OP can be updated to include helpful info spread across the posts.

I think what TeHN is trying to do is very noble but I have some questions:

1. Who is TeHN?
2. What are your goals (mission)?
3. How much money are you planning to raise?
4. What type of people do you help and what kind of help do you provide?
5. What percentage of every Naira donated goes to your recipients?
6. Is TeHN a registered non-profit organization?

Lastly, how can money be sent from the US and/or Nigeria?
1. TeHN (The e-Helpers Network) is a charity group of like-minded Nairalanders
2. TeHN goal and mission is basically offering help in cash and kind to the needy in Nigeria Society
3. For this project, we are looking for about N1M
4. We help any Nigerian with a proven case of need that we are capable of helping
5. We are yet to properly structure our activities by separating a % for running expenses, right now we spend/give 100% of the proceed on/to the beneficiary
6. TeHN is a non-profit organization but yet to be registered. We only started about 2 months ago and this is the 2nd case we are handling.

When you are less busy please go through this thread it explains the formation of TeHN: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-802184.0.html

And the quoted post below might also answer some of your questions

chaircover:
I believe in transparency and just thought that I should give you a bit of background about TeHN and our aims and where we are at.

TeHN is a group of 10 or so nairalanders who came together during the Obuh case to try and help other people in various situations that required financial need.

Do we have prior charity experience or training – No
Are any of us Social workers – No
Have we worked together before – No
Do we take a penny from any of the donations – No
Do we have fundraising experience - No

But we all have a goal, which is to do the best that we can to put smiles on other peoples face and make a positive difference not matter how small to their lives

We are only 2 months old and like many businesses, relationships, new gadgets or anything else that is new that one ventures into in life there will be teething problems, getting to grips with things and so on which we acknowledge and apologise that we haven’t got it all right just now.

Personally I welcome criticism, ideas and so on but Rome was not built in a day and we are trying our best to deliver. Many of the members devote a lot of time and resource to the cause behind the scenes and everything we do has to be agreed first, so also lets bear in mind the different time zones & peoples other commitments,  so things are not as fast say if we were all sitting in a board room and making decisions. Having said that, we know that we can do things better and we are striving towards that.

I don’t believe in this “you” and “us” or stealing the show or anything of the sort. We are all one big Nairaland family. The aim is to raise as much money as possible for the people who need it and so if anyone wants to campaign for fundraising elsewhere then please don’t hold back. We don’t have all the answers and so we welcome all forms of help. In this instance, we need all the help and the money that we can raise for Perx.

We need everyone’s support so please don’t hold back.  You are not stepping on anyone’s toes. We are committed to the cause and we need your prayers and support so that we get better at what we do. Which is to be a positive influence in people’s lives.

God bless you all as you keep the donations coming in for our sister Perx.

@ aribisala0 & dayokanu

In addition to quoting the offensive post while reporting, I will also like you supply the link to the thread/post where the post was made. It will be easier for us that way to clean up the thread and make appropriate recommendations.

Thanks.

Moving Forward

Fellow Nairalanders,

TeHN appreciates your positive feedbacks and response towards the clarion call to help one of our own, Miss Perx who was diagnosed with CRDS and over 4 years now, been unable to walk hence in bed. We say Thank you.

Today and courtesy of your kindness, we've been able to effect little positive changes which include:
- Paying her monthly internet fees.
- Paying for a months drugs supply.
- Paid for repairs of her wheelchair.
- An allowance for her monthly upkeep.

As opposed to the intial plans to going abroad for treatment, her doctors in UBTH have decided on treating her here. Her treatment consisits of 2 major surgeries(hips and right femur) with costs in the tune of 1M naira.

We still need your support as we are yet to get enough funds for the surgery. Please, nothing is too small to give.

Also please consider the idea on this link:  https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-869990.0.html

God bless you as you support this cause.

The only way I am going to think it is about the bolded is if you keep being defensive when I/others make suggestions.
Defensive? Very funny! You have a way with wrong choice of words, 1st it was competition. Anyways, you are entitled to your thinking/opinion and interpretation of my comments.

But, in case you miss my point; all am saying is that TeHN has no problem with you or anyone doing anything different from what we are doing and TeHN will not see it as a competition.

So feel free to do all you have in mind, if you need TeHN support, am sure TeHN will give you. Like I said earlier, it is about putting smiles on the faces of those in need/pain.

@perx

Please keep faith. God will see you through.

LOL- I thought we got over that.  grin Personally, I didn't run any campaigns because I did not want to make it seem as if I was competing with TeHN and to avoid any confusion anywhere. However, I did copy the intial post on this thread on my blog.
It is not about TeHN and TeHN is not in competition. We are all working together for the befits of those in need of our help.

It is not about vainglory for TeHN committee. It is about putting smiles on the faces of those in need/pain.

I will personally take the next Yoruba war to his homeland.  Somebody tell me how much swords cost these days, I need a double edged!  cool
I guess you missed this:

OAM4J:
Well there is no harm in trying. I am only giving an insider information as a moderator. The Aim right now is to reduce the sections for easier management and not to add more (If you noticed lately, some sections are being merged). Also we don't have history threads coming up everyday.

I support having the Yoruba history library thread, and we can also advocate that the thread be stickied.

But then you can open a thread in Nairaland Section requesting for history Section. I will actually be glad it is granted. So I wish you good luck.
Bro, what you seek is beyond my powers. Only Admin has the power to create a new section. The starting point is to open a thread requesting for it in general section. If you and many others are able to make a strong case for it, it will be granted. You can also count on my support.  cool

Unfortunately bringing the next Yoruba war to my homeland is same as bringing it to your homeland. You, Isale_gan2 and I are from Lagos. I am proudly from Epetedo. Eko o ni baje  cool

BTW, Isale gan is not a bro, Isale gan2 is a SHE, I was already discussing with Oba of Lagos about marrying her before she dumped my broke ass for  . . . i dont know who  grin
OAM4J,

If anyone would be Ooni or Alaafin of Yorubaland in Nairaland, of course you know it will be me, Negro.   grin   Jokes apart, No sir, far from it!

Instead of a historical sub in "culture", would it not be more direct and meaningful to have, say, a new container navigable in the path Nailraland Forum > Nairaland General > Yoruba History?   This container will then house the collections.

Thank you for looking into this.  grin
You are asking for Yoruba section? Not even general history section? Hope you know we have more than 250 ethnics in Nigeria. Well that is beyond my powers.

Whatever you want, I will recommend you start with a library thread. Let's see how many history threads are created daily. then you can make a case for a section.

Katsumoto:
History and politics go together. If you put great threads in the culture or foreign affairs sections, they die early.

Threads such as this should remain in the politics section.

Of what use is a great product if it doesn't reach a high percentage of your target market?
We can try and make a case for having some of the threads in Politics section possibly with the library thread. What am not sure will sell is having history section.

Reaching the target market is a better argument than the claim of history being closer related to politics than culture. Not many people will agree with that.

i second the request and hope it will be carefully and positively considered by Seun either as a completely separate section or as a mini-section under culture, at the least.

Our dear historians,

Another Yoruba war I would like to know more about is Ogun Adubi. Any information.

When I was younger, I used to like the song: Ogun Adubi to to ju mi ja . . ." i still remember part of the song. . . very funny especially the part "Iya re n be lo bi ewure, baba re nbelo bi igala"  cheesy
Negro,
I saw your request to the Politics Moderators.  I guess you wanted their input so the thread could be stickied?  Were you thinking of something like this? https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-231017.0.html

Let's see about getting an History Section.  Regardless, I'll be happy to spend some time finding and linking relevant Historical threads and indexing them.  It might be better to have input from other posters as well, by having them recommend threads to be added to the index.

                                                 NAIRALAND NEEDS A HISTORY SECTION
After glancing a post where this was suggested, I have thought about it and fully support it, and have concluded that History Section is exactly what should be requested of Seun.  I make bold to say that it is actually the most essential section that is needed here.  So many of our people are busy copying others, ignorant of their own forebears' greatness, thinking that they walked Unclad climbing trees and eating bugs before colonisation.

Politics section is mostly a place to discuss Current Affairs or Breaking News, and to Debate Policy.  Culture section is good for certain things.

But Culture is not the place you think of when opening a thread to discuss warfare tactics through the ages, or the right place to share data about events in our history pre-civil war, during colonization and even way before Westerners or others dreamt of coming down the Atlantic to West "Africa."  There are hundreds of topics that can be perused and analysed in the new History Section, I can just picture it.  It will also be a place that will attract lots more readers, including older posters who are sick of the tribal nonsense and just want to discuss subjects in a mature and scholastic way.  There is a million reasons to do this. . .

On Topic:
I thought about that too and it is an unanswered question in my mind and one of the things that bothers me about all the wars and the famous Ogedengbe.  undecided lipsrsealed
There is no need to have History section when there is a Culture section. I doubt that request will be granted. So don't waste your time.
