Dupeodus: AIICO truly does not need the additional capital from the proposed rights issue. The latest unaudited fs for end of 2019 shows that they have the required N18 billion paid up capital as defined. However, most of those capital is in the life business. AIICO has a need to increase the capital for it's general insurance business to enable them to carry the risks of their generated non life business which they have been forced to re-insure over the years because of low capital. I speculate that is the need for the rights issue. I also speculate that they will help shareholders out to find the rights issue by doing a significant dividends this year. In effect, they are re-allocating capital from the life business to the non-life business and for those that re-invest the dividends in the rights issue, it will be like receiving bonus shares, save for the withholding tax. But they just got 5.3 Billion why are they going for right issues? |

onegentleguy: If I were an investor, I will ACCUMULATE the likes of ZENITH, FCMB, FBNH, FIDELITY, UBA, ETI, UACN and DANGOTE SUGAR @ their current mkt price like there is no tomorrow !!
The coys I also mentioned ealier are also WORTHY of consideration, particularly LARFAGE WAPCO, CAVERTON and AIICO. AIICO' last financial print, especially some lines in its NTS is saying something to the discerning minds.
If u know, u know !! My problem with AIICO is proposed fundraising. |

pluto09: We have discussed the issue sometimes a go...
NSE doesn't follow oil on a day by day or week by week movement...
The correlation of oil with NSE is on the long time direction of oil... If oil price is bearish for a long time expect naira devaluation and you are better off not to be in NSE at the point of devaluation..... That is costly mistake some of investors make. You don't stay away from the Market or stop investing because of devaluation, recession or bearish oil prices . These who stayed away when we were buying Zenith, WAPCO cheaper regretted their actions. Adjusting and adapting to business environment is a quality every investor must have. |

BAMOFIN1: In the days before internet stockbrokers that know somebody that knows a secretary or one worker or another at the NSE used to give profitable tips about yet to be released results to their favoured clients. My recent research of price movement of some companies that recently released their unaudited results shows that some moneybags still have access to this type of information and they profit from it. Consider the sudden price increase of nahco starting three days before the release of its result and same scenario in ucap today. My question here is what is the current means by which companies release their result? Is it by direct upload to NSE corporate disclosure site which means we all see it at the same time or is it first delivered to some junior staff in the NSE office who possibly has no money to buy shares with the info he has? Second question is will it amount to insider trading if somebody with money (who does not work with NSE) actively goes in search of such guy for partnership since some insider trading is lawful? Insider trading is a norm in this Market. |

locodemy: Oga oba,you are old in this business nah. No stock survives general market bearishness. Selling high and buying low is the best in this market. We sold cos we saw another opportunity to buy back Wapco at a cheaper price.
Expect us to join back soon. This wapco must make us rich at due time.
17.50 minus14.50=3.00 .........I can't loose #3 just like that when I know I can buy back at 14.50. True. But I am actually accumulating some special set stocks for long term, and WAPCO is one of them. If WAPCO falls further I will accumulate more. I can do JIJO with FCMB, FIDE, JB, and co. But not with WAPCO and UACN for now. |
