Few days back, petroleum marketers in Nigeria, including the NNPCL were said to have increased their petrol prices nationwide following a surge in crude oil prices as a result of the Israeli- Iranian war. However, a CNN Business report published on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 confirms that oil prices are indeed coming down much more than before the faceoff that lasted for 12 days between Israel and Iran. The report indicated that the global benchmark of oil which is the Brent crude fell by 6.1% to $67.14/barrel while the US benchmark which is the West Texas Intermediate crude dropped to $64.37/barrel. If our marketers, including NNPCL and the man with a golden heart, Dangote, were quick at increasing prices and possibly praying for further escalation of hostilities between the two Middle East world powers, how much longer should Nigeriand now wait to see the reversal of the prices of petroleum products since God did not answer the marketers' prayers to benefit from a conflict that has got no impact on their operations and supplies at the time they went on rampage to inflict more pains on the helpless, harmless and hapless citizens of our great nation, Nigeria. Thankfully, the naira, which is the nation's currency, has recorded some positive significant moves against the dollar especially and other currencies of developed nations. Why do Nigerian businesses always want to have it all at the expense of hardworking innocent citizens? Why? https://edition.cnn.com/2025/06/24/business/oil-prices-fall-iran-israel-ceasefire-intl |
Seun, why should you push this to the front page? We have no other country than Nigeria; we owe it a duty to protect her and keep the peace at all times. The writer is writing on an old incident quoting last month. We should avoid sensationalism that portends danger for our dear country please. This post can still be taken out or down please. Thank you |
CilicMarin:The situation is not the same here. All the current governors who still have another term to serve are offered automatic tickets in their respective states. See no reason why such should not be extended to Lagos and by extension, Ambode who should have the right of FIRST REFUSAL!!!. What is it then you expect him to learn? That he does not have any right again to exercise his right to contest election? However we see it, Ambode remains the best performing Governor in Nigeria as at today under this current dispensation. We can only hope they manage the situation currently playing out in Lagos so it does not degenerate beyond what it is. Itesiwaju ilu Eko... Eko onibaje... |
deomelo:So people who earn much less than the minimum wage would give solidarity support to an aspirant who they don't know what becomes of him in spite of unguarded propaganda by rendering free services? Time will always tell. Wonder what would have happened if men were God. |
The Publicity Secretary of the Party, Joe Igbokwe has refuted this news item as fabricated. He maintained that the party has not and does not have any plan to suspend any of its member. May I then appeal that we be matured in churning out propaganda and be wise. After all, all the names mentioned are still members of the party. We should apply wisdom since we would need everyone even after the primaries. |
Electioneering Period is Season of Propaganda and inordinate ambition. Caution and wisdom however should be employed. Facts don't lied!!! The table has turned from what it was before. Ambo leekan si. |
deomelo:Why would they run a service for an aspirant whose fate is yet to be decided by party members and even the King Maker himself, our very own Jagaban. It is in no one's interest using propaganda at all times just to skew things in your favour. Pls, be wise and stop this immature postings everywhere even if you are hired so to do |
Good morning Fellow Nairalanders. We get shock waves from electrical appliances in the house. What can we do to this? The electrician had claimed he did the grounding and earthing which we fully paid for during installation early in the year. This has been on for about 2 weeks now. Thanks for your anticipated response. |
I won't be surprised if this is again denied shortly as usual. We are liars in Nigeria especially with the social media. |
Kewtt:All I see is selfish interest of a people privileged to be in position of authorities. It shows they do not have the least of the interest of the citizenry in them. I weep for the future of this country |
Another fake news with exaggerated headline to create tension. I only hope we stopped all these. |
BoneBlogger:I am 100% sure this is another fake news. The Commission will send out a disclaimer to this soonest. The letter is dated today, 24th July 2018 and is asking him to report today!!! The social media is becoming a societal menace in this country more than in other places. And to also ask that he reports and "interview" is also laughable!!! Is he the one to conduct the interview for EMPLOYMENT or what is the interview for? Channels or AIT? Not interrogation Like other institutions with professionals, EFCC has a well laid down structure please. It is high time we stopped all these fake news every now and then Nigerians. It does no good to our polity other that heating it up. |
Koolking:We know that too well sir/madam. And that is the reason we are saying they should do it in their respective states. Why should the government force people to give up their lands for the private enterprise of some individuals in a capitalist economy? This is not the role of government in any way. Are we operating a Feudal System of Government? |
The statement does not refute or debunk the report in any way going by what I read. It only lays out mitigating factors against the poverty level in the country. "What I can tell you, with certainty based on ones background in business and economics, is that if we complete the things on infrastructure and you implement these reports we are doing, that is what I mean by a leading indicator, poverty will go down. “There is no magic to it. But you have to do it first, you have to put in the infrastructure, you have to implement the economic programme which is what will create the opportunities, they don’t drop from the sky. |
How gullible and mischievous can we be in Nigeria? Must we throw out anything just because we want to incite the populace against government? My 3 year old boy knows June has just 30 days. Can an established agency of government make this sort of mistake in a publication to manufacturers? 31st June!!! Second base please |
Let the real change begin |
Hate the messenger for all you can, Baba as one very respected statesman still standing in the country today, has spoken the minds of millions of Nigerians. We care less about what you say now. Let the message be heard loud and clear. With our PVC, we will right the wrong |
Donemmy:I am aware some of these companies have standard price they buy. The last unverified information I have on pricing was 100k/tonne |
Aizenosa:We have about 15 tonnes ready. I don't have an idea of the price per tonne though someone hinted it is about 100k (I can't verify that unfortunately). We will be bringing it from Akure in Ondo State. |
Fellow Nairalanders, kindly assist with contacts of companies in the South West that buy dried red maize. We have some tons to sell urgently in preparation for the next farming season. Thank you |
Good afternoon, professional gurus in the house Is there any practical way of estimating or negotiating cost of workmanship for fence plastering? Lets assume the dimension is the regular 120ft x 60ft |
Rubbiish:Thanks my brother. The job is almost reaching completion as we speak and we have moved on on that. The site is somewhere in Pedro through Charlie Boy (Gbagada Phase I) |
Rubbiish:Paid, N90,000 for 3m x 2.5m x 3m and the 2nd does not have a clear dimension but expected to be about same dimension. @Twinskenny was very helpful and instrumental to brokering the deal |
enemyofprogress:Your guess is as good as mine. How come he did not know he applied to INEC to register a political party? How could he not have known that the application was granted? Where was the meeting for his emergence as the Chairman of the party held? We are waiting and watching. I can only hope that we, as youth of this nation, desist from setting ourselves up to be continuously used and dumped by the older politicians. |
Shegman22:Thanks Shegman; I appreciate. |
